4 Discovering Love Again Stars!

This is my first book by Ms. March and the first in a spinoff series of her Eternity Springs series. When I read the blurb for this book I was very intrigued and thought I'd take the leap with a new to me author. While this could be read as a standalone since it's the first in the new series, there were times while reading the book that I did feel a little lost not knowing the some of the characters that are clearly from the Eternity Springs Series.

However, this did not deter my enjoyment of this story and Ms. March's writing. Both Jackson and Caroline are in Redemption for very different reasons and neither looking for love, but there's a pull between them that is surprising to both of them. Caroline has suffered a loss and is starting over and Jackson's world has just been ripped apart and he's not sure where to turn to heal his heart.

Because they're both looking to begin anew there's a immediate understanding that while they're not looking for love, friendship is something they can both use right now and well, if it leads to more, even better. I loved how this story moved and the way everyone in Redemption was looking out for these two and their burgeoning love. The characters are very well developed and there's a richness to how Ms. March builds their friendship into a love that can't be denied. There's a drama that's building in Jackson's life and it touches everyone in different ways and challenges their future and the question is, will their love survive?

Ms. March has written a book that has characters that start as friends but end up finding the love that truly heals their hearts making their lives so much better. I felt like I was in Redemption thanks to her detailed descriptions of the town and the people that live there. This is a book about so much more than friendship and love, it's about family and how family is truly there when you need them and if love can be found as well, it truly is a great day!

A sweet and easy read, “Jackson” is the latest installment of Emily March’s highly successful series “Eternity Springs.” Set in Redemption, Texas, the book follows Caroline Carruthers and Jackson McBride who both moved to the small town to find a new beginning.

And they did! At the same time, they also found each other. But, baggage from their past have crept up; thus, Caroline and Jackson have found themselves navigating the mines of their past relationships. Will they be successful, or will it blow on their faces?

Jackson is Rated T for Teens. Parental guidance advised due to some adult situations.

Can never go wrong reading a book by Emily March. This season the Texas authors are winners and especially this book. The book is part of a long series but can be read as a stand alone. I love that I learn Texas history, new sights to visit with a fun story.

Jackson by Emily March is the first book in her The McBrides of Texas.
Meet some of the McBrides clan, aka Boone, a lawyer. Trouble follows him all the way to Colorado. Tucker McBride, the mysterious military man and Jackson McBride. THey're cousins and every single one has his own issues and demons. Jackson's issue lies with his cunning ex-wife. He misses his daughter deeply and when he seeks out his cousins he's about to meet his fate in form of Caroline.
Caroline Carruthers is a strong heroine. She's through a lot and now at her wits end. Both Caroline and Jackson are on a bad place in their life when they meet , but against all odds they have crazy through the roof high chemistry and fight for their HEA.
Jackson is a sweet story, the writing is great and I loved meeting the various characters, only sometimes I had a hard time in keeping track who's who and who does what. The storyline is very complex and like mentioned, sometimes hard to keep up with for me. All in all a good read and I give 4-ish stars.

Another wonderful book by Emily March that touches the heart and keeps the magic of a happy ever after alive.

I just loved how Jackson and Caroline’s story played out. These two both are dealing with pain from their past relationships – Jackson has been through a divorce which has left him with very few visitations with his daughter and Caroline is newly widowed – but they both are looking to begin the next chapter of their lives. I loved the connection that was made between Jackson and Caroline when they first met and how that was built upon once Caroline moves to Redemption. Their relationship progressed with such ease throughout the story, from wanting/thinking they were being casual to discovering just how important they had become to one another. And I loved watching Jackson get his music back…it was such a wonderful visual representation of Jackson beginning to heal from the pain that his past relationship caused him, especially when he had all but convinced himself that even hoping for his creative spark to ignite again was too much to ask for.

One of my favorite aspects of this story was seeing how the author bridged her Eternity Springs world with this one. We still have Celeste and her magic, but also get to meet Angelica, Celeste’s cousin, and are treated to a fun cousin-rivalry and perhaps a bit of magic that Angelica brings to the table. We are also treated to catching up with some of the couples from the Eternity Springs world making an appearance.

This book can be read and enjoyed as a stand-alone, but there is a lot of crossover from the author’s Eternity Springs series and I thought that added to the experience. Knowing who some of the characters were, especially Celeste and everything that comes with her character, definitely had me immediately drawn in to Jackson’s story. Again, I do think this can be read as a standalone, so keeping up is not a problem since the author always gives enough information and back story when needed.

Emily March has such a wonderful style of writing that is easy to read and conveys emotion without feeling too heavy. I love her use of symbolism in things like Caroline’s store being named “The Next Chapter”, the story taking place in a town named Redemption…which also has a road to Ruin (an old ghost town). And I loved how Enchanted Canyon truly became a place where “troubled souls come to find peace.”

I’ve yet to find an Emily March book that didn’t leave me happy at the end – another must read for everyone who loves a happy ever after!

Caroline Carruthers married young to a much older man and didn't have much of an identity outside of the marriage. After her husband's death, she decides to relocate to the small town she had visited. Jackson McBride had returned home after his marriage ended in disaster and he felt at loose ends. They meet and become friends, but over time that deepens into something more.

Jackson is part of the overarching Eternity Springs series, focusing on the McBride cousins that live in Texas. It isn't entirely necessary to know anything about the other books in the series, as Jackson McBride explains all of those references. It's cute to see Celeste arguing with her cousin Angelina and looking less like the entirely self-possessed guru and more like an ordinary woman that can get irritated. It's also nice to see the callbacks to the other characters we read about in the Eternity Springs books, in that they're all still having their happily ever afters.

Jackson and Caroline have a meet-cute of sorts when they literally crash into each other in a hotel garden and are then formally introduced. They start out as friends, as Caroline's husband is ill and Jackson is fresh out of court when they meet, crushed that he can't have custody of his daughter. Both have considerable baggage, so the novel really picks up once Caroline tries to move to Redemption. They work well together as friends with a physical attraction and fall into a relationship intending for it to be physical only, as a way to transition out of their emotional baggage. By not naming the relationship, it develops slowly, until they get to the point where they think about the other's well being and happiness all the time, and reawaken hopes for the future in each other again. I really liked that they had the time to grow into it and that one of Jackson's priorities was always his daughter's happiness and welfare. As angry as he was with his ex, he never went out of his way to put her down in front of his daughter, and gracefully bowed out of re-entering his ex's sphere of influence. He's described as a gentleman but not necessarily a perfect man, and that is a fantastic summary of his character.

Jackson is the first book in The McBrides of Texas, a spin-off of the author’s Eternity Springs series. I have read the Eternity Springs series, so I had no difficulty understanding and relating to the characters from that series and knew a lot of their back story from that series of books. However, if you are not familiar with the Eternity Springs series, when you read this one, you may be a bit overwhelmed and confused by the many Eternity Springs characters who make appearances, as there is little back story. That said, I liked this book, but I did miss the Eternity Springs setting and the dynamic of that series’ characters.

In this book, Jackson and his cousins inherit an old ranch, complete with abandoned bordello and saloon, in Redemption, TX. Caroline Carruthers comes into the story when she meets up with an injured Celeste Blessing from Eternity Springs and agrees to work on and write a travel log story on the inn that the McBrides have planned to open in the old ranch homestead. Almost from the get-go, Jackson is attracted to Caroline and she is to him. However, there are a few stumbling blocks to their relationship. Jackson, a song writer and guitarist, is licking his wounds after a brutal divorce from a singing sensation and a cut-back on his custody privileges for his young daughter. Caroline is married to an older professor, who has been placed in a memory facility since his faculties are no longer what they once were. Caroline is torn apart by this, as well as by the treatment she has received from her husband’s sister (who has resented Caroline for years). As the story progresses, these stumbling blocks become important, and both Caroline and Jackson work through them. Things also happen to marginalize/eliminate the obstacles (which I will not go into here). Finally, they have the opportunity to find each other and discover if there is a future for them. As the story progresses, we also see the inn come to fruition and open successfully, as well as other buildings the McBrides have included in their inn’s location. There are some interesting but meaningful events that can make/break Jackson’s and Caroline’s relationship, which they work through with the help of their families and friends—some of whom are characters from the Eternity Springs series and some of whom are introduced in the book.

I through it was interesting to read a spin-off of the Eternity Springs series, which I thoroughly enjoyed and loved. As I said, there are characters from that series that also play roles in this book, though not principal ones, but not much back story on them or Eternity Springs. It helped to know the back story. Jackson was a strong character, very much devoted to his daughter throughout and later to Caroline. Caroline, for her part, was also a strong character, devoted to her failing husband and to her new life chapter in Redemption, which included Jackson. I knew almost from the start, that the romance between Jackson and Caroline would happen, despite the many obstacles presented, so the ending was never in doubt. What was interesting and made the book a good read was the way they went about things as they got to that point. The supporting characters, some from the other series and some new ones introduced in the book provided enough support and help to this couple, while working through their own ups and downs of life, without overshadowing them. This is a sweet romance, but also a story about life, family, relationships and friends. I am looking forward to the next installment to learn more about Jackson and Caroline as well as the other McBrides and Redemption. I received this form NetGalley to read and review.

Jackson by Emily March
Eternity Springs (16): The Brides of Texas #1

Cousins Jackson, Boone and Tucker inherit land in Texas that they will eventually turn into a B&B, Saloon, Music Hall and more. All three will no doubt star in a separate book in this series. This book is Jackson’s story. Although this is a spin off from the Eternity Springs series it is not necessary to read that series to enjoy this standalone book.

Jackson McBride is a songwriter that lost his muse when he lost custody of his young daughter at the end of his acrimonious less than polite marriage’s end. When he sees Caroline Carruthers in Redemption his muse tingles but doesn’t do much more than that and as Caroline is soon dealing with the loss of her husband it is a good thing they have a span of time between that first meeting and their second.

In Redemption the two meet up again while he works on getting the inherited property ready for guests while she works to open the bookshop she purchased in Redemption. Neither Jackson nor Caroline claimt o be ready to tangle with love again but the two do become friends...then friends with benefits...and eventually more. Their story is fairly easy to read without big bumps in the road. I enjoyed Jackson and Caroline together and felt they were a good match. Both trusted and cared and had their priorities straight. Even when Jackson had to deal with issues from his past the two weathered the situation well and were supporting of one another. I loved Haley, Jackson’s daughter, though there was little of her in the book.

I enjoyed this easy read and look forward to reading Tucker’s and Boone’s stories as I wonder if perhaps Jackson’s ex-wife will get it together and find true love, too.

Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press for the ARC – This is my honest review.

I loved Caroline & Jackson's story. I have read Eternity Springs series and I really enjoyed Redemption, Texas just as much. I can't get enough of this authors writing and love the chemistry between the couples, family and town so much. I can't wait for the next book.

I was excited to start reading this one, the description sounded great and I'm always looking for a new series to start. Caroline and Jackson are such great characters and it's fun to see them come together over the course of the book.

Right from the start this book grabbed me and I have never been so happy to be held hostage. This book was wonderful and it made me feel so alive. This is the feeling that I get when I read a good book and I just want to lay here and bask in its glory. The romance, the drama, the rawness, and the superb writing hit every mark for me. I have read one other book by this author and it was titled A Kiss of Spring and that was a 5 star read for me as well. The writing flowed like water within a river bank and the characters were so charming and likeable. I just finished reading this like 1 hour ago and I had to get my thoughts on paper ASAP. I got that warm gooey feeling and that is sure sign that I am in love with this book. Enough of my praising and blushing, now let me tell you about this story.

If you are like me and started in the middle of the Eternity Springs Series, you have found a safe place because even though I did not read but one installment in this series, I still had a good time. Eternity Springs is a small town in Colorado and it evolved around the Callaghan's, but now the series ventured into the other side of the family in Texas, the McBrides. Let me just say that I love the three stooges or better known as Jackson, Tucker, and Boone. The family dynamic is wonderful between these three and I could feel the love that they had for each other. This book is about Jackson, a songwriter who has lost his inspiration for music and recently divorced. Jackson has a great story arc involving his daughter and I admired him for the love for his daughter. Receiving a phone call from his cousin Boone, Jackson leaves his former life behind and heads back to great state of Texas. On the other hand, we have a recently widowed Caroline who is looking to start the "next chapter" in her life. Both Jackson and Caroline are not looking for love, but we all know loves come unexpectantly. Will love prevail even when both of them has suffered a great loss?

I think this is the sweetest couple that I have ever read. I mean, the chemistry is awe inspiring and the compatibility between these two are true relationship goals. I will have to admit that I fell in love with Jackson and the huge heart that he has. Caroline was a pleasure as well and she was so strong and transparent. Their relationship had that slow simmer and it started off as true friendship. The slow simmer allowed me to see their relationship blossom and it made the bump in their relationship so intense and I did not know what to expect next. The book starts off telling their stories individually and gradually it intertwines their stories and it was fantastic. I usually do not like the absence of time in a story, meaning there is no specific range of time passing, but it was done very well in this story. She does tell you how much time passes, but it is not a big element in the story. At some points in the book, it was like reading a montage in an 80s movie and that is a positive.

I only have one negative thing to say about this book and it's minor. There were some key moments that the author glossed over and did not allow me to see the scene unfold. For example, when Jackson sees his daughter after going almost a year without seeing her. That scene would have been so powerful and effective, but the author just sort of told me what happened and I really wanted to feel the emotions in the scene.

The author did such good job building this small town and the writing was very descriptive without being too wordy with insignificant details. This story was a delight and most importantly, it gave me the warm gooey feeling. I give this book a….drum roll please……………5 beautiful stars. Go pick this up because this story was wonderful and this is the reason that I love the romance genre. Don’t forget your tea and your blanket. Go pick it up.!

Jackson is a lovely stand alone romance, and it's the first in an Eternity Springs spin-off trilogy. Being both character driven and atmospheric, this well written thoughtful story is overflowing with heart and characters you will actually care about in a place you will never want to leave. Honestly, it's been a while since I've read a book that made me want to pack and move to the location, but Jackson did just that. I know it's obvious word play, but the Enchanted Canyon between Redemption and Ruin couldn't be more aptly named. Jackson and Caroline, the main characters who migrate to this place for different reasons, might find their way to redemption, or their lives might fall into ruin. It's a choice both must make individually after tragic loss and unimaginable heartbreak. Their story is broken into two parts. Jackson and Caroline initially meet when both are in town for business like reasons. Tragedy strikes and they are drawn apart until a year or so later. Now, in the second part, we see the slow and steady building of a solid friendship that might progress to deeper levels. Jackson is working on building something spectacular with his family. Caroline opens her own business and begins her life anew. Both are coping with loss and grief and are essentially living new beginnings. Drawn to each other but cautious, will the spark between them turn into a blaze? Will Jackson and Caroline find the happiness and contentment they deserve? I loved these characters in a real way because it's like I knew them. They are flawed, struggling wonderful human beings. Written to perfection, you will root for Jackson and Caroline, and you will experience heartache with them. There are also minor characters who are very charming, fun and delightful to read. I loved every aspect of Jackson. I connected in a soul stirring way with this story. Do yourself a favor, and read this book. I personally can't wait to see what Emily March offers next in this new series.

This is "Jackson's" story from Eternity Springs. He's being kept away from his little girl unfairly.
This book was sweet. Easy to read. and a real page-turner.

Jackson is the sixteenth title by Emily March in her Eternity Springs series. I haven’t reviewed the whole series yet or listened to them all but I have reviewed a few books. all of which I loved.
The characters are well created and the town is atmospheric. Great to be back in Eternity Springs and to hear Jackson’s story!
Thanks to Emily March and St Martin’s Press for my ARC in exchange for an honest and voluntary review and my slot on the blog tour for this title.

Jackson McBride is at a low point in his life. He's being kept away from his little girl. He needs help. He finds it in Redemption. He and his two cousins are trustees of a large track of land in the Hill country. This change may help him get his music back. Caroline Carruthers is suffering. She's a recent widow. Her husband had suffered from Alzheimer's. She was charmed by this friendly town and decided to start the next chapter in her life here. Jackson knows she's his muse. I loved how these two formed such a close connection. It healed their broken heart. Jackson is sweet and caring. His love for his little girl touched my heart and the way he treated Caroline was so romantic. Seeing them fall in love May me sigh. She's so caring and empathetic. I was glad that she opened her book shop in Redemption. It's such a friendly place. I enjoyed all the characters. They were charming and I cared about them. Enchanted Canyon and the ghost town added so much to the story. I was shocked when Jackson's ex was struck by tragedy which pulled Jackson back into her drama. I couldn't put down this book. It was an emotional story. Emily March wrote a wonderful romance that left me with a smile on my face. Jackson is a great start to her new series.
I received a copy of this book which I voluntarily read and reviewed. My comments are my honest opinion.

I received an ARC from the publisher through Net Galley in exchange for my honest review. These are my own thoughts and reactions to this book

This book can be read as a stand alone, but I would encourage readers to read the earlier books in the Eternity Springs series also. Many characters from previous books appear in this book.

Redemption, Texas...a place where hearts come to heal. Redemption is a close knit community where neighbors support each other during difficult times. It is populated by some pretty quirky characters who, in spite of their eccentricities, have hearts as big as Texas.

Caroline is beginning a new chapter in her life after losing her husband to the terrible disease of Alzheimer’s.

Jackson is reeling from a nasty divorce in which his ex-wife gained sole custody of their six year old daughter and does everything possible to make it difficult for him to exercise his visitation rights.

Ms. March has written another engaging story of new beginnings, set a small town with characters that find their way into the reader’s heart. I recommend Jackson and all of the Eternity Springs books to anyone who enjoys a clean romance with a compelling story.

I can't believe how hard this review was for me to write. I have so many thoughts running around in my head that I want to get out but I'm afraid I'm not going to do them justices. I both love and hate reviews like that. I'm going to do my best to make it a good one.

If you don't read Emily March than you should know that yes Jackson is a standalone but it's roots start in her Eternity Springs series. In fact, many characters are mentioned or in it. But other than that it was a good book.

I think she writes wonderfully. I do have to admit that her writing is a little bit more woman's fiction than straight contemporary romance to me. I will say that I really enjoyed the characters and want to read more about them.

I felt for Caroline and what has happened in her life. What she went through will always be with her. Her past adds a ton of emotions into the story. I love that she wants to open a bookstore in a new town, away from the life she had. Sometimes we have to start over.

I also really liked Jackson. He along with his cousins inherit land from an aunt. It's just what he needs during this trying time. He's away from his daughter and missing her terribly. I feel for him. He got a raw deal.

I think you'll notice how much this new trilogy is tied to her Eternity Springs series. After reading this I know it would most likely have been better if I had read her other series first.

I just love cowboy stories. So when I received an invite for the Blog Tour of ‘Jackson’, and I saw that cover, I just knew I wanted to read this book. So I signed up for the tour and was super excited to start reading.

In ‘Jackson’ we meet Caroline and Jackson. Caroline is a new widow, trying to get a new start in life in Redemption, Texas. Jackson is a divorced man who doesn’t believe in love anymore after his ex-wife did some terrible stuff to him. They both aren’t looking for love, but after Caroline and Jackson meet there friendship soon grows into more.

Well, where to start with this review? What I really loved was the small town setting of Redemption, Texas. I just loved the way everyone seemed to look out for each other. But unfortunately it took me a very long time to really get into this book, and somehow I feel like I never completely got into it. And I’m not sure why. I honestly felt for a very long time while reading this book, that I missed info about the different characters. Like maybe I missed a previous book.

Also time moved very fast in this book. One minute we would be in the current time, and on the next page we would be six months further. I didn’t really like the way time seemed to fly by so fast. But it wasn’t only with time I felt like things where a little rushed. It was also with the way the characters felt. One moment Caroline and Jackson where only friends, and the next they where lovers. I just didn’t feel that.

And the romance between Caroline and Jackson was very mellow. I missed the chemistry between them and I honestly didn’t really feel like this was a romance story that much.

Overall, this book was nice, but just not for me.
