This is the first book in the Redemption, TX trilogy. It is listed as a stand-alone but there are characters from March's Eternity Spring, CO series. I haven't read the Eternity Springs series but I did ok with this book.
This is a slow-build up friends-to-sweet romance story. Jackson and Caroline are in Redemption for different reasons....but finding each other could be the best reason of all. I loved the secondary characters as well. And even the town seemed like a character all on its own.
A sweet, heart-warming story. Full of friendship, love, angst, tears-both happy and sad, and mostly....redemption. I fell into it (and the town) and didn't want to leave.
I received a copy of this book from the publisher, St. Martin's Press, via NetGalley. My thoughts and opinions are my own and without bias or remuneration.
First of like a lot of reviews. Im not sure i would class this as romance. The actual romance part wasnt that big, in my opinion. When we first meet Caroline she is visiting her husband in the Easterwood Memory Care Center. Its Caroline and Roberts wedding anniversary, upset that her husband doesn't remember her. She leaves the center, bumping into Celeste Blessing who is taken unwell. Celeste is due to go Redemption, Texas to do some research on the town. Caroline offers to take her place.
Also heading to Redemption is Jackson, battling a custody case with his ex. Jackson is not in a good place, when he looses the case. He has lost everything. Cant even write music anymore. Heading to Redemption to meet his cousins to see the land a relative has left them. Both our heroine and hero are feeling dispirited when they meet for the first time. Even so they can feel the start of a connection.
When Caroline's husband passes away. She packs up her things and heads to Redemption to start a new life. Opening up a bookstore is the first step in her new life. Jackson is busy renovating the last chance saloon as well as the inn. As they both work at moving on in their new lives. Can they learn to take a chance on each other? An enjoyable read, i loved reading about the town and its residents.
Emily March did a good job at describing it all. Look forward to reading more. Recommended for fans of chick lit. ARC requested from Net Galley in exchange for a voluntary review.
A wonderful start to the McBrides of Texas series, a spin-off from Eternity Springs by gifted author Emily March with unforgettable characters you root for and a beautifully written story that kept me totally immersed in all that was happening in Redemption, Texas, from the first word to the last. I loved the attraction, undeniable chemistry, repartee, and heartwarming romance between Jackson and Caroline.
This is a perfect read to escape the stress of everyday for anyone who enjoys well-crafted romance and I look forward to reading more from Ms. March. I received an advance reader copy of JACKSON from the publisher via NetGalley and this is my honest review.
Emily March’s novel Jackson is fabulous! The author’s descriptive writing sets the scene for this novel of second chances. I could envision the waterfall in the Enchanted Canyon, the rugged Last Chance Saloon and the rooms in the Fallen Angel Inn. The McBride cousins, Caroline and Angelica are not perfect; each has issues to resolve. I was drawn into the story because the characters and their stories were relatable.
Songwriter Jackson McBride has hit bottom. His ex-wife has obtained full custody of their daughter. And to make matters worse, she has issued a restraining order against him. The legal bills have emptied Jackson’s bank account and he is at a standstill artistically—he hasn’t written a music lyric in months. He accepts an invitation and meets his cousins Boone and Tucker in Redemption, Texas. I loved how Jackson grabbed the lifeline Boone tossed him.
Caroline Carruthers husband is in a memory care center. She meets Celeste Blessing outside of the center and helps Celeste to a bench. Celeste gives Caroline a bit of advice; she tells her that “when you stand on your own, you stand tallest.” Celeste works her magic and Caroline agrees to travel to Redemption, Texas to write an article for a travel magazine.
Sparks fly when Jackson and Caroline meet--- Jackson sees Caroline and a lyric begins to form in his head. He realizes that he might be able to write music again. Caroline is trying her best to accept that her husband doesn’t remember her and she needs to move forward with her life.
Emily March does a fabulous job portraying Caroline and Jackson’s inner conflicts. Jackson put his anger behind him and stepped up to handle a tragic event. Caroline grieved for her husband and their life together. She came to understand that she could start over, moved to Redemption and opened a bookstore. Loved Jackson and Caroline’s friends to lovers romance – the slow burn worked perfectly for this couple. Caroline knows in her heart that what they have is special and her trust in Jackson is tested several times in the novel.
I enjoyed the bantering between Celeste and her cousin Angelica, the characters of Boone, Tucker and Maisy and the small town feel of Redemption. The author writes a fabulous epilogue for the couple and hints at Boone and Tucker’s stories.
Second chance romances are my favorite—and Emily March has hit a homerun with Jackson! The novel has all the feels-the beautiful setting, the charming characters and their heartfelt stories will captivate you.
This is the first time for me with this author and it seems to be a spin off from one of the series. In this we are given Caroline and Jackson. She opens a bookstore with that being a bit of why this one called to me haha. Moving to a new place is busy times with her crossing her paths with Jackson things begin to go in a direction neither expected or thought of. This is also a town that has magic of its own it would seem. As we follow them we are swept away with the magic of romance and love in this one mending places that only love can seem to touch, sprinkled with humor to top it off.
I love reading books by this author. She really has a way of drawing you into the story and keeping you there. I really liked the three cousins and I can’t wait to read more about Boone and Tucker. I really like Angelica she was like a kindred spirit all spit fire and sass but had a way of showing love while doing it. I was never a fan of Shanon even in the end I just didn’t like her I felt like she was a master manipulator and Jackson seemed to play into some. I liked how the author through a twist into the story I didn’t see coming it really felt like it added another element to the story and it definitely grabs your attention. I like that, over all this story was a good clean read and I can’t wait to see what the author was in store for these characters.
I just posted the review on Amazon but it might take a couple of days for it to appear.
It will also be on our Romance Reviews Today website in a day or so.

Contemporary Romance
Redemption, Texas – Present Day
After a failed marriage and being slapped with a court order to stay away from his daughter after being falsely accused of child abuse, Jackson McBride arrives in Redemption looking for a restart to his life. Jackson and his cousins recently inherited some buildings near Redemption and plan to rebuild them into a viable tourist destination. During a tour of the area, he meets Caroline Carruthers, a married travel writer, who intrigues him even though she’s off-limits. During the visit, Caroline learns that her husband has suffered a heart attack, and with Jackson’s help, rushes back to Austin to be with him. Jackson figures he’ll never see Caroline again.
Months later, Caroline, now widowed, returns to Redemption to open a used bookstore. In the meantime, Jackson and his cousins have started their project, with a nearby retreat about to open. Jackson had heard about Caroline moving to town but figures he’ll never see her. But he does, and their friendship from months ago turns into a deeper one. As the months pass, a friendship that seemed nearly impossible a year ago turns into one of love. Will love turn into marriage?
Emily March’s long-running Eternity Springs series has branched out to Texas, where a small town is being revitalized with the help of “angels.” Celeste Blessing, familiar to many readers of the Eternity Springs series, is a minor character in JACKSON as she is used to help introduce her cousin, Angelica Blessing, who is the proprietor of the Fallen Angel retreat. Much of this tale focuses on the opening of the Fallen Angel retreat and other businesses that Jackson and his cousins are working on. And of course, the slowly building romance that develops between Jackson and Caroline.
JACKSON is a heartwarming tale of redemption and learning from your past mistakes to build on a future. Caroline had fallen in love and married a much older man, but she was happy despite the challenges of her husband’s diagnosis with Alzheimer’s disease. She stood by her man, but she soon had to institutionalize him. His heart attack, and subsequent death, while she was not close by left her with some guilt. In JACKSON, she soon realizes that she couldn’t have done anything differently and eventually moves on with her life. It turns out that life includes Jackson and the other people she has become friends with in Redemption.
Jackson is a songwriter who found his inspiration (and his career) dried up as the result of the split from his ex. He loves his daughter with all his heart, and it tears him up that he is apart from her but there is a court order limiting his contact with her. This is why he throws himself into building up the Last Chance buildings he and his cousins inherited. Add in that being around Caroline soon has him spinning songs inside his head and readers see that she is now his inspiration. Will there be a song for them created by Jackson?
Readers who love stories that will warm your heart and leave you smiling will surely enjoy JACKSON. The male cousins and everyone in Redemption are strong, resilient people who work hard and don’t blink an eye when it seems that there’s an “angel” watching over them. Will Jackson and Caroline’s angel lead them down the path to a happily-ever-after? Be sure to pick up JACKSON on your next book shopping spree.

I love Emily March books because they are sweet combined with the character’s troubles. Jackson is another great offering.
Jackson grieves the inability to be with his small daughter due to his ex-wife’s legal machinations. Because of all the legal drama, he has lost his ability to write music-the utter and complete joy in his life. When he meets Caroline Carruthers, some of the music begins to return and he definitely wants to pursue the chance to see if she is his muse. Caroline has trouble of her own and is finally ready to embark on changes in her life. Enchanted Canyon and the town of Redemption offer both Jackson and Caroline a fresh start and maybe a fresh go round with love.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
This is the story about Caroline and Jackson. They both are fighting to get through very difficult times in their life. Redemption Texas is the starting point of their healing. Caroline is further ahead of Jackson since he is still in the thick of things but the two of them together share an undeniable attraction that might be just what they need. This was a great book with a wonderful cast of characters. Their world sounds so beautiful I wish it was a real place to visit. Perfect heartwarming love story. I received an ARC from Netgalley and St Martins Press. My review is solely mine own options.
Very sweet story. Well written and enjoyable. This is my first book by Emily March, but it definitely will not be my last.
Jackson is the first in the Eternity Springs: The McBrides of Texas trilogy and it is as wonderful and amazing as everything else author Emily March has written. Jackson is a beautiful transition to the start of a new series, bringing in old characters and settings so that it already feels familiar. And it satisfyingly provides the set up for the next book and romance in the series.
Caroline Carruthers and Jackson McBride have different backstories, but they have both experienced heartache and heartbreak and are looking for a new start. Neither feels ready for romance, but they could each use a friend and agree to put the sparks flying between them on a back, back burner and just develop their friendship. Of course we know that won’t last for long, but it’s so much fun taking this journey with them. They are so likeable, so sweet, and so good together, and often very funny. And they are surrounded by wonderful friends and family, new and old, and just enough turmoil to keep things interesting.
How does author Emily March do it with every single book? She creates a world so familiar, so comfortable that I feel at home, part of the story and I never want to leave. Just a few pages into Jackson, that’s how I felt. Like I knew everyone, knew my surroundings and wanted to stay with these people for a long time. To say author March has a way with words is an understatement. If you just read the words without context they may sound corny, but woven together they are beautiful and set such a perfect stage – “why now? Why had her hormones picked now to flicker back to life? Why now and why with Jackson McBride? Sure the man was drop-dead gorgeous with shoulders that stretched from Dallas to El Paso and a voice as smooth as angel tears, but he’d never flirted with her, never said or done a single suggestive thing.” Or “She was sweet as corn fresh off the stalk, and she melted against him like ice cream on a summer day.“ And when Jackson gets to talk to Haley on her birthday it was so sweet and touching it brought tears to my eyes. Not to say there isn’t any humor, because there is, as fulfilling as the tenderness.
Thanks so much to St. Martin’s Press and NetGalley for providing an advance copy of Jackson for my honest review. To say I loved it and recommend it doesn’t go far enough. It was like going home. I dropped in and continued life with people I have come to love.
Jackson comes to Redemption licking his wounds from a bitter divorce and custody battle. Jackson along with his two cousins inherits a stunning property which once was a small western town but has now become a ghost town. Jackson decides they should revitalize the property into a thriving business.
Caroline comes to Redemption quite by accident to do an article as a favor to Celeste Blessing. Caroline is married to an older man who is suffering from Alzheimer’s in a care facility. When Caroline visits Redemption for the second time, it’s to build her future home and business as a widow.
Jackson and Caroline have an instant attraction but is it too soon to let themselves fall in love again? Old wounds and past hurts push at them to remain just friends, but will it stay that way?
I loved this new book by Emily March. I loved the characters from Eternity Springs that came to visit in the story as well as all the new characters introduced. I’ve read all the books in the series and it was simply a joy to visit with old friends and fall in love with Redemption and the people that lived there. I can’t wait for the next book in the trilogy. Thank you so much to St.Martin’s Press & NetGalley for an advanced copy to review.
I have loved every one of the Eternity Springs books. This is a sort of spin off and it's just as good as the others. I was a little confused when it started out with Caroline, one of the main characters in the romance, married and in love with her husband. However, as time passes and events unfold, she is in the place in her life to be available to love again.
Caroline and Jackson were soooo good together, even if neither was looking for a love connection. Sometimes love just happens and it hits you upside the head. I loved that Caroline was able to give Jackson back his ability to write songs after some events had silenced that for him.I loved Jackson's relationship with his cousins and the grief they gave each other. Those side relationships are part of what make Emily March's books such a treat to read!
I was so excited to return to a story from the Eternity Springs, CO. series. with its wonderful characters that seem like family, especially the McBride cousins and Celeste Blessing.
This story is so full of lives changing and healing from hurts, insecurities, life, love, and death. The warm characters are inviting and will wrap themselves around your heart as you read to see how everything turns out. I liked that a part of the story returned to Eternity Springs, Colorado.
There are new characters in this book that I enjoyed meeting and I liked Redemption, Texas too and the ghost town of Ruin. Most of the book focused on the McBride cousins. Jackson is a song writer who is unable to write after a divorce four years ago from his wife, Sharon and not being able to see very much of his daughter as he wants. The other two cousins are Boone and Tucker.
I enjoyed the property that Boone, Tucker, and Jackson inherited. The Enchanted Canyon Ranch seems to be able to heal ones soul. and there are plenty of residents in Redemption who could benefit, especially Caroline Carruthers, who has just lost her husband.
It was interesting to find Celeste Blessing had a cousin almost like her named Angelica. She is quite a character. They both seem to have special angel wings though they do clash a lot. I received an advance copy of this book and I willingly chose to write an honest review.
"Jackson" was another delightful installment in Emily March's Eternity Springs series. Eternity Springs is one of the rare series that has maintained its quality even after more than 15 books, and I always look forward to catching up with old friends and meeting new ones.
The great thing about the Eternity Springs books is that each one stands very well on its own for readers who do not have previous experience with the series, while also allowing longtime fans the opportunity to check in with favorite characters from past stories. That is particularly true of "Jackson" since it is the launch of a spinoff trilogy featuring the three McBride cousins of Texas, who are distant relations of the Callahan family featured in a number of Ms. March's previous novels.
As the story begins, Boone, Jackson, and Tucker McBride have inherited a large parcel of land just outside Redemption, Texas and must come up with a way to make it turn a profit since the terms of their great-aunt's will prohibit them from selling the land outside the family. With the help of Boone's friend from Eternity Springs, Celeste Blessing, the McBrides decide to renovate some of the property's existing buildings and turn them into a destination resort and music venue. Jackson, a former songwriter and musician who is reeling in the wake of losing a contentious custody battle with his pop star ex-wife, moves to Redemption to oversee the project. He soon befriends Caroline Carruthers, a recent widow and fellow new resident of the town who plans to begin the "next chapter" of her life by opening a bookstore. Slowly, Jackson and Caroline's friendship evolves into something more, though there are numerous challenges to be faced on their path to happiness.
I look forward to the next book in this series!

Emily March spin off series from Eternity Springs
I love Emily March’s books. This one was unique because the heroine was married when the story starts. We follow Caroline and Jackson falling in love and believing in themselves enough to actually admit it. Of course we have Celeste Blessing meddling and we get to meet Angelica her more laid back and eccentric cousin. Emily March stories are always fun and full of characters.
Go buy this book and her other series “Eternity Springs”. They are all a fun read.
Jackson by Emily March is a small town romance about second chances and hope. Caroline Carruthers is starting over unexpectedly and follows her dreams to a new town where she opens a bookstore. Jackson McBride is not looking for love. His marriage ending left him bitter and now all he wants is time for himself. When Caroline and Jackson meet, they become friends, but there is something else there as well. A sweet and charming story.
Happy reading!
Jackson by Emily March is the first book in a trilogy, and a spin off from one of her Eternity Springs series.
This is a sweet romance about a widower and a divorcee finding a second chance at love. The setting was pretty great, an old ghost town, complete with a saloon and dance hall. However, while the setting was great everything else feel flat for me. I had trouble finding interest in either main character till a good 30 % in. Once I was finally invested, their whole romance seemed to be summarized to me (if that makes any sense) I just felt the way it was told did not allow me to fully connect with it. Also, I understand it's a spin off but the amount of name-dropping and little recap of characters obviously from the previous series but me feel left out. If I should care about each and every persons' life update, then don't label it as a standalone.
This is my first Emily March novel and sadly it might be my only.
2.5⭐
I'm sorry I just did not enjoy reading this, but that's on me, I was expecting a bit of romance between Jackson and Caroline not just two people coping with the after effects of their lives,
I received a copy from Netgalley and I am voluntarily leaving my own honest opinion
If you are looking for an emotional tale about two wounded souls looking for a fresh start, then JACKSON by Emily March is perfect for you.
Caroline Carruthers needs something different and moving to the small town of Redemption and opening a bookstore seems like the perfect answer. Grief has made her heart and soul heavy but this close-knit community may just open her up to the possibility of happiness once more and then there is Jackson McBride who makes her heart flutter when they are together.
Jackson McBride is determined to make something new for himself but love is the last thing he wants. His ex has made sure that that part of his life is gone forever. But as he falls into a friendship with Caroline is it possible that Redemption has brought them together for a deeper reason?
JACKSON by Emily March is very much a story about community, friendship, and new beginnings and while there are heartbreaking moments, Emily March's books always leave me with a feeling of hope and warm thoughts.
The characters are likeable and I enjoyed watching Caroline and Jackson's friendship evolve and their journey as they both try to find their feet in Redemption and with their own feelings.
JACKSON by Emily March is sure to please fans of small-town reads and romance fans and I found it easy and enjoyable to read.
