An absolutely brilliant book! Such a unique plot. Told from the pov of an autistic boy's imaginary friend. It is the story of a family dealing with finding a diagnosis for their child along with all the testing and mental health appointments. The story of how the boy copes with the aid of an imaginary friend. Also a tale of dying and death. What does it feel like to die? Where do we go afterwards?
I just loved this book so much. The writing was wonderful and the story gave me all the feels. Asperger's was dealt with in a realistic way and you can tell the author either did his homework or has experience. As the mother of a 22yo with autism and as an Aspie myself, I recognized many of the situations both from the child's and parents' pov. I found the added kidnapping story tense and couldn't stop turning the pages.
