A wedding hook-up, hot chemistry, mystery, suspense, unexplained happening, family issues, and inferno level heat.

This is the second book in a series, and while it can be enjoyed as a standalone I'll leave the choice to read the first installment up to you if you prefer to read books that are part of a series in order.

At this time, as I am guessing is obvious by the publication date that was literally years ago, I have decided not to review this title.

Technically, I made this decision a while ago, but was not as prompt with sending feedback as I should have been. My apologies for the delay, as well as clogging up your inbox with this very late review response.

As always, while incredibly late, I thank you for the opportunity to read and review one of your titles.

Awesome addition to Shayla Black’s books. Fast paced and steamy, hard a very hard time putting it down and actually going to sleep. Highly recommended.

Shayla Black returns to the Devoted Lovers series with Devoted to Love. This is the second book, and while there are characters from the previous book, this one can be read as a standalone.

What I love about this story is…surprise, surprise… Magnolia West and Josiah Grant. They meet at Maggie’s sister’s wedding and jump into the sack for a perfect one-night stand. Surprising even Josiah himself, he wants more than one night. He has the perfect excuse to hang around a little longer. There is danger brewing in Kendall County, and Maggie and her family are right in the middle of it.

Mrs. Black does an excellent job turning up the suspense with some unusual twists and turns. At the same time, she ignites the relationship between Josiah and Maggie. For good measure, she throws in a nice small-town setting that together makes my heart melt.

I love this book. One reason, that I couldn’t put it down was the cult who stir up trouble for Maggie’s family and the town. They are sinister and scary. The tension starts slow then escalates until my stomach started to hurt. I do love a book that takes me through the paces. I’m a big fan of this couple. I know we all read books and find couples that we like more than others. I didn’t think anyone would outshine Cutter and Shealyn, but Josiah and Magnolia do it for me.

In true Shayla Black fashion, this couple is hot. More than once I needed to turn down the AC. All-in-all Devoted to Love is a most enjoyable read. The suspense is nail-biting, and the romance is to die for. In other words, a must-read.

Shaya Black's book is a second book in a series which seems to be a standalone. I did not finish the book as I do not enjoy books where the characters have sex within the first two chapters. If you like erotica, you will probably enjoy this book. The Male protagonist works for a security firm and the female has trouble with what turns out to be a cult.

Shayla Black is a true master with the tales she spins. Josiah Grant & Maggie Magnolia West's chemistry is off the charts hot. From the banter to the intense passion Devoted to Love to the suspense and twists that fill this amazing plot. Easily a new favorite for any Shayla Black.

Josiah and Magnolia (or Maggie) meet at the wedding of her sister and sparks fly. Sexual sparks to be exact. Maggie doesn’t do relationships and neither does Josiah. But there is something about how each makes the other feel. Then throw in the people from “Enlightenment Fields” who want to buy the family farm and don’t mind harassing the people they want to buy the land from, you have a good mix for a good read.
I have enjoyed Shayla Blacks books for many years, and this one is no exception. If you like macho men and strong women, this is a good fit for you.
I received a copy of this book from netgalley for a honest review of the story.

I loved this book from the first to last page. Josiah and Maggie meet at a wedding and Maggie thinks that he is just a Wedding night hook up. Little to they both know that they are on the road to love. This book has steamy romance, suspense and chemistry on each page. Shayla Black does an amazing job of weaving an amazing plot and creating characters you don't want to leave. Though this book is a stand alone I would recommend the other books in the series because they are amazing!

My first Shayla Black novel and certainly not my last! This was one FANTASTIC read! There was the perfect amount of passionate sparks flying, the perfect characters, and an incredibly suspenseful plot line. I loved it all!

Josiah and Magnolia are amazing characters. They both quickly stole my heart. I loved the sparks that flew between them instantly and ended with their one night stand. Watching Josiah and Magnolia together was an epic ride, especially when the suspense hits the story and Josiah’s protective side comes out.

Black has a unique writing style. She instantly hooks me from page one. The characters became my friends and the plot line played out like an intense movie. This is book is definitely worthy of high recs and 4 stars! I can’t wait to go back and read book 1!

Shayla Black mixes the perfect blend of super sexy romance, intrigue, and action to create a page turning adventure in Devoted to Love.

Josiah and Maggie may not have been looking for love when they met, but the chemistry is off the charts and I really wasn't expecting some of the twists in this story.

This story unfortunately did not work as a stand-alone within a series — there were too many references to past books and couples for me to keep track of what was going on/become invested in this book’s couple.

While I love the protector and damsel trope and requested the title, I didn't know that Black's romance was erotica. I DNF-ed at 19% because I do not read it. I'm sure Devoted To Love will find many readers who will enjoy it. With apologies, I won't request a Black title in the future, knowing this will be the content. My rating is based solely on my personal distaste for the subgenre and not on anything inherently wrong with the title.

DEVOTED TO LOVE is book two in Shayla Black's suspense filled Devoted Lovers series and centers around Shealyn from the first book's sister and personal assistant Maggie and security expert Josiah. A one night fling just might turn into forever when danger strikes and circumstances change.

Maggie at first seems like a put-together character, but as we get to know her better, we see the flaws that stem from her tumultuous childhood and how she goes about trying to make herself whole. Some will find it hard to forgive her misdeeds, but I found her redeemable.

Josiah was an easy character to like. He was there to help out a friend, and meeting Maggie brought a newness to his life that he wasn't expecting. He spotlights his dependability and strength around every turn and watching their connection grow is rewarding.

I recommend this story to anyone who enjoys a good bit of suspense with their romance. Both books in the series so far have been solid reads.

Shayla NEVER disappoints. You will be sucked into this story from beginning to end.

Josiah is everything you want and more. He finds an interest in the place he least expects it. Maggie stirs Josiah from deep within. He should steer clear, but he cannot. He knows he should walk away, but there is not turning back. He needs to protect her. The suspense will keep you vigorously turning the pages. If you enjoy suspense with some heat and chemistry this is definitely the book for you.

Maggie is a force to be reckoned with. She is stubborn and knows what she wants and how she wants it. The harder she tries to deny her feelings towards Josiah the harder she is pulled toward him. This book has it all! Do not miss this one. I highly recommend reading it.

Devoted To Love is the second book in this new series of Shayla Black’s and boy I actually haven’t read this author on her own. I, of course, have read other books where she has co-authored novels, however, this is the first time I took a chance and picked her up on her own and I was very IMPRESSED. This isn’t a perfect book by any means but instant love connections don’t really work for me that well to be honest. Sometimes they do, but in the contemporary setting’s it’s not always my favorite.

In Devoted To Love Josiah has come for a wedding and meets Maggie who he has insta lust for and they pretty much have the best sex and really click physically. At first it’s clear that its just casual sex, no strings attached. But when there is a danger to Maggie and her family, Josiah stays behind to look into the matter and before he knows it he is caught in and windstorm of danger and he knows that there is more going on than meets the eye with a crazy cult fanatics who are trying to buy the land from Maggie’s family. There is also the matter of falling in love with a woman who may never be able to love him back….

Devoted To Love was simply a fun and thrilling read and I had so much fun with this one. I first want to start off with the issues that I had with the story. The first is the fling set up, to be honest, this is what really prevented me from really feeling the emotion and connection between them. There was too much rush from just casual sex to love you like crazy. I know it happens, but it didn’t seem as realistic as I was hoping for. Now the second issue I had….the heroine. Now I try to be as accepting as I possibly can be however, there was something about her past that really rubbed me the wrong way and I just couldn’t let it go and it might have altered how I looked at this book.

Now for what I truly adored about this book here? Well here is the low down, we have the plot of the story which is as intense as you can get. We have a crazy religious cult and boy this really added into the intensity of the story. I really liked how it developed though and seeing the danger escalate throughout the story. What impressed me most was seeing how the relationship and the suspense plot didn’t detract from one another. I was fully invested in both and the author here really found a great balance. The characters that come into play are a unique match. They are both strong-willed and there is some control bedroom play here. I wouldn’t call it full BDSM or anything like that, but our hero is a natural DOM, so he does like to control things in the bedroom. So I always love that in my stories and Shayla Black surely knows how to write a steamy sex scene, it can get pretty intense and dramatic but I was all for it.

Overall I found Devoted To Love to be a sesnation, highly provacative, intense filled story that will keep you on your toes from beginning to end!

A good read. Suspense and a good storyline. It took me awhile to get into it. Shayla Black always writes amazing stories and I enjoy her books. This book was just a little hard for me to get into. The supporting characters were surprising and a little creepy to me. I think that’s where it was hard for me. I really wanted to love this book as I love Ms Blacks others.

Shayla Black is a TOP favorite author of mine. She has been for some time now... You really can't go wrong with any of her books. To me, they hold just about everything that a romance should, and then some and Devoted to Love was no different. It held suspense, thrill, hot as hell steamy scenes, and a blinded love story that I could not get enough of. Ms. Black weaves her words together and creates and masters everything she writes and with each book of hers she proves to me she can write just about everything and it is still amazing!

Devoted to Love is a mixture of suspense and romance and it most certainly a unique plot, which is no surprise to me, one thing I know about this author is that she likes to mix things ups, she likes to push boundaries and she likes to make a plot and storyline that is almost impossible to forget.

Maggie and Josiah were two of a kind, yet they were two characters I couldn't help but fall in love with. Maggie was smart, beautiful and loved living on a ranch with her grandparents, but after meeting Josiah at her famous sisters wedding, things start to change.

Josiah was there as protection, and he never knew that this job would ultimately change is his life. He was hired to continue to protect Maggie, and normally he knows where the line is drawn and that he can't have any kind of personal relationship for the women he works with, but that all changed when it came to Maggie, that rule went out the window, he just couldn't help himself when it came to this woman.

The chemistry between these two is electrifying, it was intense and from the moment these two met, I was cheering for them. Things aren't always as they should be, and for these two, I certainly did not see what was ahead, and that is one major thing I love about a Shayla Black book. I honestly never know what I am going to get, but I do know and did know it was going to be epic and it sure as hell was.

As much as I want to dive into this with every detail, you need to go into this with your mind open to anything and everything to happen.

I absolutely adored these two and loved how the author played them out. Two people so different in so many ways yet they were a perfect match and bounced off each other perfectly. Once again, Ms. Black nailed it flawlessly and exceed my expectations and blew my mind.

5 Stars!

I am not a huge fan of suspense or whatever you may call this. It was a little too much for me. I could not get into this book. And boy did I try.

Review: DEVOTED TO LOVE: A Devoted Lovers Novel by Shayla Black https://wp.me/p3d0RZ-baU

Genre: Contemporary Romance

This was my first Devoted Lovers book and I had no problems keeping up with the characters. The beginning started like any other “meet at a wedding” trope, but the hints of upcoming danger added a nice edge. The smoking hot sex scenes also built onto the growing tension. Josiah is a Dom, but that didn’t overshadow their relationship or the story, rather it added a lusty heat to the bedroom. I connected with both characters to a point – I didn’t quite feel the love between them, only the lust and like. That didn’t ruin the story for me as their relationship and trust did build despite Maggie’s on-again/off-again behavior. (The “due to their pasts, they were both leery of any type of relationship, but powerless to stay away from each other” angle.) As for the antagonists in the cult, thankfully they weren’t completely stereotypical, instead showing a nice depth to their evil. I enjoyed this read and can’t wait for the next installment.
