Sweet Spade was a hard read for me. While I like the bad boy, mob boss type of man in my erotica, this guy was just a jerk. He was only sweet sometimes and it seemed his motives for being with our heroine were about 90% malicious.
Our heroine was also not my favorite. She made some rash decisions and did whatever the bad boy said, no question.
Although I didn’t fully enjoy the story, I’d probably still read the second book to see how the story ends.

Kylie plays poker to win some money to bail her brother. Something bad happen when she played and the almighty Asher Black stepped in. He made a deal to bail out Tyler in one condition. Kylie was naive but not innocent. While Asher was possesive and aggressive but could be sweet when he wanted to be. Asher wants Kylie for revenge yet deep down in his heart he unconsciously falling for Kylie.

This book is so so good! I really love it, I spent only 3 hours reading it. Too bad it was short because I am craving for more. The ending threw me off. I really some closures from them and more sweet and happy moments. I couldn’t wait to read the next book!

I received this Arc from Netgalley in exchange of honest review.

This was my first book by this author and I was pleasantly surprised with how good it was. I am not normally a fan of insta love but this story made me like it and now I am thinking of opening up possibilities of reading more insta love books! Asher and Kylie had amazing chemistry and I loved him as the hero. Good book!

A pretty good read. I really enjoyed the way this author painted every scene with her words; it all flowed so smoothly. Kylie was definitely more likable than Asher was, even though I'm a sucker for a bad boy character. Asher made it hard to love him but in the end. I couldn't help but root for him. Overall, a pretty good read.

Ain’t nothing sweet about this book. A novel filled with petty revenge, hate filled lust, and a naive girl stuck in the middle. It’s like watching a bad train wreck, you can’t look away. I do not recommend this book for empaths, because it will mess you up. Personally, I didn’t like the plot or the characters, but I was swept away in the drama of it all. It definitely keeps you hooked, but don’t expect a happy story or a happy ending.

Kylie plays poker to earn money so she could bail out his brother, Tyler. Chase, Tyler’s twin brother is an underground fighter. These brothers and sister will do anything to save each other. Asher Black encountered Kylie in playing poker. He is a prominent criminal in their neighborhood and made a deal with Kylie that he will bail out Tyler in one condition.

In this book, Kylie is naïve not so innocent, smart and beautiful. She will do anything for her family—brothers. I admire how she will do anything even risky things to save her brother. Her love for her family is remarkably passionate. Asher screams sexiness, angst and authority. He is aggressive and possessive but could be sweeter and caring like anyone else. Kylie and Asher’s chemistry explodes. Their story seems to be the reason why I’m into slow burn romances now. I’ve felt how Asher unconsciously become affectionate towards Kylie and vise versa. In Asher’s mind, owning Kylie is his greatest revenge against Blake (Kylie’s former boyfriend).

Sweet Spades is slow burner romance that my heart aches in every twist. Basically, all twists in this novel messed up my mind. This book is alluring, swooning, page-turning and in good pace. I like the author’s writing style. However, I’m disappointed that it is short story because I was craving for more Asher and Kylie. But, looking forward to next book because of its cliff hanging ending.

I received this book as an arc from Netgalley.

First time reading this author, I'll definitely be reading this author again.

This is not a soft, lovey-dovey romance, but a hard, and sometimes brutal romance. Some of the characters reasons are a bit misplaced or not as well-thought-out. Title ends on a cliffhanger, so expect a sequel.

This was so bad. The writing is incredibly simplistic, with the most predictive plot. Main character falls in love with her captor for absolutely no reason. Only giving two stars based on how fast of a read it was.

Please tell me that there is a book 2 on this series. If not, there should be. You can't end a book like this and not have a comment saying MORE TO COME... This book took us on a journey and then just ended. I want more back ground on the characters. More back story. More EVERYTHING PLEASE>>>

Kylie and Asher, a match made in heaven or hell? This book made me laugh, yell, gasp and say omg... Kylie is a card shark that ever loses but this time her luck turns and she finds herself losing to Asher. Will they find out that family isn't always easy to love, and happiness is not always easy. Thank you NertGalley for allowing the chance to read the book.

This was a 3.5 Star. I would recommend this to anyone who likes a dark, mysterious love interest with an interesting setting. This is set in Chicago with a fun criminal backdrop. The characters in this book were extremely intriguing. I loved the complexity of Asher's character. He is complicated and has many layers that made reading this book a treat. Kylie is fun and I also liked her rebellious nature. The storyline was interesting and I thoroughly enjoyed the plot line and details. This is definitely the kind of romance story I enjoy. I would have liked a more rounded ending but the intensity of this story was great for its short length.

Good book. Kept me into it from start to finish . Is there a sequel? I hope so. I would also like to read a book about each of the brothers and Ashers brother and even Jimmy!

I received a copy of this story from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

What did I just finish reading? I thought there was going to be more poker in this story and that was the initial draw for me. Sadly, that was a very VERY small part. I actually went back to the summary on NetGalley to remind myself why I wanted to read this book. That's when I realised I fortunately forgot half of the blurb; had I remembered the part of the summary about Asher, there would have been no need to read the book. Seriously, the summary gives it all away. And maybe that would have been okay if the writing was well done and left me curious about the backstory and what's driving the revenge plot but it wasn't.

There were grammar mistakes all over the place. My brain hurt with all the run-on sentences I found. And the dialogue was awkward. I started to find this comical because I began picturing people having these conversations word-for-word out loud. The first person narration was weird, too. I would have been more forgiving there but it was just as stilted and strange as the dialogue. There was way too much telling instead of showing for my tastes.

Clearly I was not a fan.

I thoroughly enjoyed this read and can't wait for the second one to come out, since this one kind of leaves you in a cliffhanger.

Dangerous and possessive but utterly delicious is how I would classify Asher Black. If you are not into bad boys or dangerous men and story lines, this book is not for you. However, if you are, it's perfect.

Kylie is a great character who isn't aware she is trying to find herself. She and her brothers are criminals, in a smaller sense than Asher, who get caught up in what their good at, their vices. After Asher wins her, Kylie settles into a life with him she didn't expect, with secrets she didn't realize he was keeping from her.

The character creation and growth in this book is intriguing, while the plot structure unfolds in a way that leaves you waiting and wanting more. It is a romance novel with scenes that are meant for mature audiences- really good ones. There is also physical violence (fighting and gang/mobster type), if that is a trigger.

Overall, I would definitely recommend this book.

The really good part is there actually brought together by there brothers. She to save her's and him to piss him off. She takes his offer to save her brother but finds out he is not as bad as she thought. Then the sparks fly. I enjoyed the story the characters were well developed. I want to thank NetGalley and publisher for the chance to read this book.

This was ok. It didn't wow or give me the feels like I would've wanted.

While different, a better revenge-love story is Sawyer Bennet's Sugar Daddy. That cliffhanger left me amped for book #2.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of Sweet Spades from NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

First, I need to say that I absolutely loved the concept and especially the storyline of this book! That alone kept me reading. I found the unfolding of the backstory and the sweet revenge enthralling and like watching a train-wreck, I could not peel myself away from this book. Asher Black is a complicated character that I hated to love! This novel is the first in a series and I am interested enough to want to see what happens next. (That said, I also must address two flaws. As realistic FICTION, some of it just wasn't realistic and detracted from the plot. If I had not been so hooked into the story, I may not have finished the book. Kylie's occupation is supposed to be an elementary teacher, however, she goes to clubs most nights and gambles for huge amounts of money in illegal poker games--instead of correcting school work or writing lesson plans. I also found that some of the writing could have been smoother, but most readers of the ROMANCE genre could care less about the quality of writing, and I also did not choose to read this novel for its writing quality, however, so that can be overlooked.)

Thank you to NetGalley and T.A. Torres for the ARC!
