The first thing that came to mind while I was reading this book was a saying .... that saying is "Never judge a book by its cover". That saying is what this book was about to me. It is about two people that have had things happen in their past and they built their future around those things. Taylor was poor growing up and after his dad died his mom worked as many as three jobs to keep food on the table and the bills paid. Taylor strives to make something of himself so that him and is mother will not have to struggle ever again. Sam was very rich growing up. Anything she wanted she got. When she was a teenager that all got ripped away from her because of something her parents did. She strives to always give back to everyone else and she never takes for herself. When these two meet there is such a connection there but neither wants to admit it. They both look at what they see on the outside. As time goes on they begin to see beyond that and that is where the real story begins. This was such a cute, sweet, romantic read. I would highly recommend you give this book a try because you will not be disappointed at all. Thanks Net Galley. I voluntarily reviewed this book in exchange for an honest review.
It had everything that would make it likable - i mean a rich understanding guy, a girl who everyone likes/loves who doesn't actually get on your nerves, painful past they can overcome together and sizzling chemistry that would keep the story going forward.
On the whole I enjoyed this book. I did have a couple of small issues but then when don’t I?
It starts with Samantha at a charity auction waiting to bid on her friends brother. She’s not paying attention at all and bids on the wrong man.
Taylor comes across as your typical rich arrogant and very handsome male. Sam thinks she has him all figured out and arranges their date accordingly.
Taylor is much more than she expected. He’s a man who came from nothing and worked his way up.
I really liked Taylor and it’s hard not to like Sam (although she did annoy me at times) she devotes her life to helping others. At times I felt it was too much, she was just too set and uncompromising.
“You’re not understanding.” She fisted her hands. “I couldn’t fall in love with someone who would put me in that position. It’s not me. It’s not who I want to be. I don’t want to be like them. And falling in love with someone wealthy…what if that changed me back to who I was? What if it made me forget what’s important in life—the sun, the fresh air...”
So yes Sam annoyed me at times but her life had been ripped out from her when she was young and it’s obviously had a profound effect on her.
Maybe I’m overthinking this.
It’s an easy, enjoyable romantic book. It’s what I think of as the perfect 3* read.
Call me picky and I am because this is such a minor point but...
The blurb states that Sam
‘...turned her back on her wealthy family to focus on social work.’
And this is true she did but I’d assumed that she’d come to this decision purely on her own. In fact her parents were arrested and she had to drop out of her Ivy League school due to lack of funds.
Like I said it’s a minor point but I went into this book under a slight misapprehension.
I voluntarily read a review copy kindly provided by NetGalley.
The book started off great and I liked the premise and characters. Then they go on their date and the H/Taylor loses all of his delicious alpha jerkiness. It really bothered him the h/Sam didn’t like him. Then it really bothered her he didn’t live up to the entitled rich snob she pigeonholed him. She gets past that and they agree to make it a real date. They don’t want to end the date after realizing the auction says the date is over when she goes home. Neither does second dates, so she basically moves in with him to avoid their first date ending.
I think where it didn’t click for me was Taylor never having another moment being an uptight jerk as he first was and described in the synopsis. It’s weird to be disappointed he was just a really nice guy. In contrast, Sam’s insensitive harsh attitude and discrimination against anyone with money was over the top. She was unapologetically black and white making her unlikable to me.
Overall, the book didn’t draw me in so I found myself skimming more than not.
Samantha accidentally bids on the wrong man and finds herself with an egotisctical, rude, sexy man. To get even with him, she takes him volunteering to only find he likes it and misses it! Initially, Taylor came off as rude and I wasn't sure if I was going to like him, but within the first couple of chapters, we start to see the real side of him. This was another great read by Diane Alberts. I can't wait to read more by her!
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for granting my request for the ARC of this book. I voluntarily read and reviewed the ARC. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
I loved the meet-cute but wasn't as enthused by the rest of the story as it unfolded. I wasn't attracted to either MC and at times, both of them frustrated me. Taylor gets a tad too sappy for my own tastes.
Over all, this is a cute light read but, for me, was just missing the snarky, sarcastic banter and push-and-pull that I love. The story might not be my cup of tea, but I have friends whom I know will enjoy this book.
This is the first book I have read by this author. This book is wrote with a dual POV and plenty of sexy scenes. I liked this book but felt at times that Sam and Taylor’s relationship moved to fast to be believeable.
I received a free copy for an honest review.
An Accidental Date With A Billionaire” is a quick and easy read that just didn't really do much for me. Overall series was lackluster, the characters were dull, and nothing drew me in to the story. I've decided to drop this series before I bored myself to death. I appreciate the ARC but unfortunately this just wasn't my cup of tea.
I loved the blurb of this one; it sucked me right in with the promise of a fun rom-com. I enjoyed the story, and I liked both Sam and Taylor. However, I just didn't feel a lot of chemistry between the two of them. Nonetheless, this quick, light read kept me entertained and was certainly worth reading. I enjoyed the author's writing style and would be interested in reading other books by her as a result.
Thank you to NetGalley and Entangled Publishing for providing an ARC for review.
Another winner!!! This is a delightful quick read that romance fans will love - it's charming, sweet, and sexy. I loved the characters, from the complicated and damaged Samantha, to the unexpected Taylor . Taylor begins as the stereotypical alphahole and Samantha is not impressed., however, this author shows that first impressions are frequently wrong. The author drew me in to their story and made me feel invested in it. I also enjoyed the way it enfolded from both points of view.
Fans of the genre will love this book. Put this one at the top of your TBR list.- you'll be glad you did. The author is on my must read authors' list.
This was such a cute, quick read! I loved that it was told through both Taylor and Sam’s perspectives. I also enjoyed that there wasn’t too much angst. I was really rooting for the main characters and loved that they both changed each other for the better and taught each other a lot. I will definitely be on the lookout for more books by Diane Alberts!
When Sam accidentally bets on the wrong bachelor at a charity auction, she has no idea that her date will carry on for days, not hours. This is a fun read. It's nice to read a book every now and then that doesn't contain overly dramatic conflict and angst.
This book sounded like fun, a bachelor auction with a billionaire date and a former heiress but I really kinda hated the heroine, Sam. She is stand offish very judgey and only wants one night stads. She doesnt let anyone getting close to her so they can hurt her and it was hard to like such an unhappy character.
Taylor is pretty cool. He goes along with her date ideas and wants to really know her and he was pretty wonderful just had no idea why he liked Sam at all or wanted more with her. I did not feel their attraction at all either.
Sam meets billionaire Taylor when she bids on him by mistake at a bachelor auction. Taylor acts cocky, so Sam pigeonholes him as a jerk. When she decides to trick him into doing volunteer work on their “date,” she expects it to freak him out, but he handles it like a rock star. As they spend the day together, they realize that they really like and are attracted to each other. They both have hang ups about relationships, so neither wants to be in one. Sam is also hiding a very painful past. As time goes on, Taylor realizes that he wants more from Sam, but a series of misunderstandings stands in their way. Can they find their HEA?
I loved Samantha, but I wanted to shake her at times. Taylor was just perfection. These two and their ongoing first date was just a wonderful book. I absolutely loved it!
