This is the first book I have read from Jobie Baldwin and hopefully not the last. Ink is a fast pace book that will captivate you from the very beginning. This book was provided to me in exchange for my honest opinion.
It was very well written and I truly enjoyed reading it.
So this book says that if you like Harry Potter and Percy Jackson that you would enjoy this book and that is a pretty accurate description. The problem is that this book isnt as timeless as those where you can pick it up at any age and enjoy it. I loved premise and the idea behind the story itself but I didn't get into it as much as thought I would have but I think it's because I am a little bit older and couldn't find the characters as relateable as I would have liked.
What an epic story!!!!!! What can I say about this story? The characters are amazing! Dynamic. Realistic. And relatable. The plot was absolutely amazing! My attention was held the entire time. Twists. Turns. Suspense. I love the entire story!!!! I was sad when I finished.
This book was okay just not interesting at all. It did not keep my interest and I tried so hard to finish this book, but I just couldn't.
Decent story.... but you can tell by the length of time it took me to finish, I wasn’t enthralled. The basic plot was interesting and I enjoyed the main character Christian. I didn’t see the need for him to have a love interest, other than he was a 16 year old, and that did slow the progression of the storyline.
*Thanks to NetGalley and publishers for the advanced reader’s copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
I received an ARC of this from the publisher via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
The format of this book, well at least the dialogue reminded me of a movie. Very cool spin on humans being inhabited by gods of many backgrounds to try to save the world and battle the Settlers. The story was good but the dialogue was a bit too cheesy for me. I have faith that it will get better with the next book in the series. Overall, a quick decent read. Looking forward to #2.
This story was amazing the characters where beautifully written , the story it’s self was so well put together it flowed amazingly and I found it very easy to get stuck in to . I can’t wait to get stuck in to the sequel .
Ink is a novel perfect for those looking for their next YA urban fantasy novel with a unique take on control of others.
The writting was decent, a bit repetitive for my taste, and while the overall plot was interesting - moving tattoos that end up being a method for someone to be controlled by something else is not quite unique, but a really interesting thing to explore - but the writing kept taking me out of the story. Written in first person, it was just really repetitive.
A really good suspenseful fantasy novel, I think most folks would enjoy this novel, if they can get past that repetitiveness. The characters are solid and fully fleshed out and interesting.
I recommend it to fans of YA.
Unfortunately, i find myself a bit disappointed with this book. The premise was great and it started off good, but then it was rushed? I feel like I'm going fast forward through this book and nothing is making a lick of sense to me. It is my hope that this book will get a re-fresh on the gritty details that were very much missing. If it was fully developed and not rushed I would have enjoyed this immensely.
Ink is a fun, and quirky read that is quick to read and the characters are enjoyable. The only issue I had with the story was sometimes the environmental issues came across as a little preachy like this was something the author held close to her heart.
I cannot wait to read the second book because Raven is fantastic and Ben tries so hard to fit in with his friend and the Tribe that he tends not to use his head at times.
I would recommend reading this book.
4.5 out of 5 stars.

Let's say it: the cover is gorgeous, and it was what captured me in the first place.
But, you know, never judge a book from its cover.
Ink might not be a bad book. But it was definitely a bad book for me. I mean, a younger, less exigent fantasy reader could probably be charmed by the story. However, the sketched worldbuilding, the flat characters and a ton of events squeezed in so few pages were too much for me to bear.
I am looking forward to seeing how the rest of the series plays out. The author certainly did their research, so the characters and settings flow nicely. Everything felt very believable.
When I requested this book I didn't realize that it was being archived the next day. Because of this I wasn't able to read it and am disappointed that I don't have a review to give.
Jobie Baldwin has created a fascinating realm - an alternative version of our own world (unless we just don't know the truth yet!) Mainly aimed at the YA market, this is an enjoyable read for any adult as well. Christian is a well-constructed anti-hero, showing the difficulties of a teenager growing/grown up in a dysfunctional family. Christian's purpose is changed forever when he stops by a store he hadn't seen before, 'Innocent Ink', and he is chosen for a higher purpose. The combination of mythology, sci-fi elements, and the environmental aspect are well interwoven to create a riveting story. I will be moving on to the next book as soon as possible!
The novel follows the journey of Christian, a wilful college student that happens upon a tattoo shop, Innocent Ink, that changes the course of his life and the Earth. His spirit guide is as destructive as he is protective, causing havoc every where he goes until Christian learns how to reign Laz in. The rest of the book follows the Tribe on their quest to save earth from the alien seekers. The aliens have everyone fooled except the Tribe and smart humans that help and proxide comedic relief. It is a bit reminiscent of the Shadow hunters except with God's from varying religions.
It is a good book and one can easily connect with technology characters.
I didn't find this book for me. It just wasn't the story I had envisioned. I found the characters were flat and didn't have what I was looking for.
Ink, by Jobie Baldwin, is the first book in Tribe series of urban fantasy adventure superhero novels. I found this to be a uniquely enthralling fantasy read that had some interesting plot twists. A fun story with relatable characters and a quirky plot that keeps the reader entertained.
The action is set mostly in London, where a teenager named Christian is drawn into a mysterious tattoo parlor. The guy behind the counter, a native American named Raven tells Christian to stay in the center of the room and the right tattoo will choose him. The tattoo soon burns itself into Christian’s skin and gives him god-like powers.
”The tattoo is a conduit, your link to the Guide. Your tattoo symbolizes Hagalaz. We call him the Disruptor. He controls the elemental forces, the weather. He brings change, often of a catastrophic nature. I can’t wait to see what powers he has granted you.”
This happens because the Earth is in Danger to be attacked by the Settlers (aliens that have been living amongst humans for quite some time). So ancient rune gods chose suitable teenagers as vessels and together they try to save Earth. After getting chosen by Hagalaz (the god of disruption), Christian joins his “tribe” – a group of teenagers from all over the world who have been chosen by for the same purpose by different gods to a training facility where they are supposed to discover their powers, connect with their guides and train to fight together.

Enjoyable and engaging supernatural mystery with a great MC, plenty of action and intelligent plotting. Out of the common way in terms of story and seriously underhyped. A compelling read which I highly recommend.
Such a good book! This had such a unique story, and it was honestly such a fresh breath of air. Seeing as this was released in 2018, I didn't realize that I as missing out on such a good book. Christian's development from the beginning of the book to the end of the book was amazing. I honestly much get my hands on the sequel, as the ending sets it up perfectly. I enjoyed seeing Christian deal with all his problems and the God who is trying to ruin everything for him. Definitely check it out!
ARC provided to be by the publisher in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Ink is chock full of the supernatural mystery, adventure, and character development that makes young adult literature so good to read. This is my first encounter with Jobie Baldwin, but I sense a creative writer who has much voice to share.
Speaking of sharing, I would gladly put Ink in arm's length of any young reader around (and even some older ones I know). It's compelling, fanciful, and entertaining.
