This I found is a lot of little stories, not my normal read but interesting none the less. Karen talks about different aspects of her life, what she did how she reacted. With the questions she asks of herself it def makes us all think. But reminds us we each have our own journey, not necessarily easy or straightforward but the one we are meant to walk.
Are you pursuing your God given shoes or are we walking around in some uncomfortable shoes created by ourselves. God has created us for a purpose and His purpose but we need to be willing to give up our shoes to walk in the ones that God created for us! Karen's testimony gives hope and some very thought provoking questions. Her book is full of quotes that truly make you stop and think. One of my favorite quotes, "If you desire an authentic life, stop using artificial flavors to enhance it." It's so true. We try with all our might to make life be exactly how we want it to be when we need to stop enhancing and "begin replacing the artificial with the authentic." Totally fun read that will make you smile.
I received this book for an honest review from NetGalley.
Nice short read. Many little sections divided in the sentiment it wants to inspire. Like "achieve", "believe", "change" and such.
Not a book to read cover to cover in one sitting. But rather to be enjoyed one section at a time.
I really enjoyed this book and it did leave me wanting to read more by the author. I felt like the information was a little "cookie cutter" but after reading a lot of "self-help" type books you tend to encounter the same stuff a lot. I found myself highlighting the majority of the entries because it was so good and relatable.
This was a wonderful book about not deferring your dreams to inner and outside forces of fear, doubt, society and rejection to name a few. I feel like this is the book I have been looking for, to push me to stop wasting my time and get busy with actually living my life and following my destiny. Putting things off and saying "I'll get it done someday."-is a form of procrastination because tomorrow has a way of sneaking up behind us, and then we get in a rough situation where we have no choice but to finally confront our personal truths about whether we are living our lives authentically and what we can do to grab on to our futures. I loved Mrs Danage's short story at the end of this book entitled "The Jazz Master", that explains that failure isn't the be all and end all. One must keep trying and practicing to get what they want in life, and that most successful people have the scarred-up knees. No one knows how much time they have left on this Earth, and no one wants to die with regrets of not living the life they truly wanted to. Being a slave to fear, doubt, insecurity, society and taking rejection too much to heart, impedes our progress in fulfilling our dreams. What will truly get us through is faith and pushing on through, with a lot of positive thinking. The book reminds us to not give up too easily on our relationships and dreams, and to make sure we have more assets than liabilities. The liabilities such as toxic relationships need to be properly dealt with and gotten rid of so that you can truly focus on your destiny without the naysayers being in your presence constantly. It is time for us to wear our custom-made shoes designed and made by the master shoemaker. These shoes will never wear out or need repairs. The journey won't be easy without obstacles, fear, detours, tears or setbacks. It is for us to walk into our destinies. It is never too late to be what you want to be-as long as you get started and keep going. I'll definitely remember the FORGE acronym: F for Faith, O for Opportunity, R for Resilience, G for Greatness and E for Excellence. I loved the various analogies the authoress used to help people to understand each quotation, it aided in my visualisation to help me understand what the quotes really meant and further expanded the concepts being explained. Thank you so much Karen Danage for writing this truly inspiring book, and to NetGalley for providing me a copy of this title in exchange for an honest review.
