Griffin Knightly was once blissfully happy with his life in Port Snow, Maine.... until he experiences a loss that rips his whole world apart. Picking up the pieces of his life by insulating himself from further romantic entanglements seems like the easiest way to move on... until he meets Ren.
After surviving a traumatic car accident in Los Angeles, Ren Winters is ready for a quieter and more peaceful life. Moving to small town Maine, away from her past and her overprotective family, she is searching for a fresh start... and Port Snow seems like the magical place to find it in...

That Second Chance was a sweet, suuuupppper slow burn romance about not only finding your second chance, but being mature enough to grab it with both hands. Although Griffin and Ren experience an immediate connection, they form a friendship first and try their hardest to ignore their budding feelings for each other. But, with a meddling town and an attraction that continues to simmer, they can only keep from themselves from kissing for so long...
Ren is staring a new adventure and finally doing something big... and completely on her own. With a crazy first day in town and an unforgettable meeting with Griffin, she immediately finds a connection and effortless friendship with him. But, with his heated looks one minute and then completely shutting down on her the next, he is continuously sending her mixed signals... and she has no idea why.
Griffin has a beautiful heart, but at the same time is incredibly guarded and untouchable. He has a great love for his community and his family, and would do almost anything for something that he cares about. But, with the loss of his wife and a curse hanging over his head... that's right a curse... when it comes to decisions he makes, he is always thinking about almost everyone but himself.
Ren was such a sweet and understanding woman. She never pushes Griffin for more or expects anything out of him that he can't give, but she can also only take so much when it comes to his inability to move forward with their relationship. Griffin was devastated when he lost his wife and has had a dark cloud hanging over him ever since. With his self-sabotaging mindset getting in the way of his warm and caring personality, he is headed for quite the battle with himself and all of his "curse" related hang-ups.
I really enjoyed this book and I am SO EXCITED for the rest of the Getting Lucky series!! Ren and Griffin's friends-to-(eventually)-lovers story was sexy and sweet and the perfect introduction to this new and unforgettable group of characters.
I received a complimentary copy of this book for my honest and unbiased review.
A sweet, extremely funny small town romance. I love small town romance, everyone knows everyone’s business, and it normally includes a family with lots of siblings. That Second Chance is just that. The gossip chain in the town is rife, Chinese whispers at best. It is not however a second chance romance, no, it’s a second chance at love for hunky part time fireman Griffin Knightly (I just love the name). A little bit of friends to lovers (only because stubborn Griffin refuses to believe he deserves a second chance, all because of a stupid, stupid curse). A wonderful story with fantastic characters, the Knightly family are hilarious, I just love their meddling. I am so looking forward to more in this series. I received an advanced copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley. This is my honest review.
I love small town romances with quirky, funny families so this first book in the Getting Lucky series hit all the marks for me. The very vivid descriptions of Port Snow, Maine and all its charm was icing on the cake. I fell hard for every single Knightly brother and can't wait to read each of their stories, but I have to say Griffin will be hard to beat! I loved the interaction and banter between him and Ren -- lots of laugh out loud moments interspersed with sexy times. That opening scene was so hysterically funny that I couldn't put it down once I started reading. This was a heartwarming, sweet & sexy read from an author who is new to me -- I know, I know -- surprising since she's written quite a few, but now that I've experienced her writing, I'll definitely be reading more from her, specifically Rogan's story which I believe is next!! I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
4 1/2 "lucky" stars
I can definitely see why Ren chose to move to Port Snow!! It sounds like a picture postcard and that's before the description of Griffin and his look-a-like brothers - - which apparently only continue to add to the scenery! I have read several of Meghan Quinn's other books in the past and was excited to see she had a new one coming out. Let me say, she definitely did not disappoint with That Second Chance. This was a strong start to a new series. Since some of the books I have read by Ms. Quinn are her Dating By Numbers series, I enjoyed the tie-in to Rylee and Beck (from Two Wedding Crashers) who reside in Port Snow. It's nice to get an update on their life now. I really like it when authors can blend previous characters back into subsequent books.
Ren and Griffin meet when she literally "crashes" into town while trying to avoid a moose in the road. Ren has moved completely across the country from California to get a fresh start and be out from under her parents' over-protective scrutiny. Even though she thinks she and Griff have an attraction, she is often confused by how he keeps his distance and only treats her as a friend. Then she finds out about "the curse." Eventually, Griffin can't fight his feelings for Ren...of course, that's when things really get good. Also, I have to say that Griff's siblings and their constant matchmaking is pretty fun as well! This was such an easy and enjoyable read. I look forward to continuing the series.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
An engaging and entertaining book that will keep you hooked till the last page.
I loved the well written characters and the plot.
The setting was lovely it made me crave to be there.
Highly recommended!
Many thanks to publisher and Netgalley, all opinions are mine.
This was a new to me author, but I am looking forward to reading more from Meghan Quinn. I love a romance that also incorporates a big family and a small town. This was a great love story and was fun to read.
That Second Chance is another fun, heartwarming and touching story penned by the talented Meghan Quinn. I love small towns – the gossips, the close-knitted neighborhood, the loyal community. We had a glimpse of Port Snow and the famous Knightly brother curse in Two Wedding Crashers. I was so delighted to go back to Port Snow and learn their stories.
Griffin, the eldest of the Knightly brothers, was the total package. He was confident, caring and handsome. However, he was hiding behind a tragic past which he saw as part of the Knightly brother curse. He wasn’t truly living but just going through the motions until the buoyant and quirky Ren crashed into town. I admired Ren’s resilience, strength and bravery. With her unfortunate accident in the past, she was still going strong to start anew and live her life to the fullest.
Griffin and Ren’s mutual attraction was instantaneous, but their romance was slowly built. I loved how they started out as friends. Their conversations and interaction could be funny at some times but also heartfelt at other times. Although the plot was a little predictable at the end, I truly enjoyed the ride with them.
One of my favorite part of this book was the Knightly family. I loved the teasing between the siblings and their genuine love for one another. Another aspect that I love about this book was the close-knitted community of Port Snow with its traditions and local’s secrets. Even thought everyone was in each other’s business, it showed that they care.
I’m in love with this new series and cannot wait to read the stories about the other Knightly brothers.
I received an advance reviewer copy of the book for free in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.

And another amazing book by Meghan Quinn. Griffin and Ren are such a great story. Ren is new in town and is rescued by Griffin after a run-in with a moose. Griffin is from Port Snow, helping in his family business, is a fireman and helps around the town. They have a connection right from the start but Griffin keeps Ren at arms length because of history with a curse his thinks happened in New Orleans when he was with his brothers from 2 years before.
This book gives you the small town feel, has great family and friend connections. I love how Meghan writes a story. You cannot help but want more. This book gives all the feels- I laughed alot, cried a bit and just felt whole . I loved watching Griffin grow with the pain of lose and acceptance of his feelings and the strength of Ren! I cannot wait for more in this series!
When Ren, who had a life changing event, decides to move across country to Port Snow, Maine to start new. In her way into town she comes across a suicidal moose and requires rescuing from the town volunteer firefighter Griffin Knightly.
This is everything I want in a Meghan Quinn book. I loved everything about Ren and Griffin's story. I love how they come together, I love the town, I love their backstories. I also loved seeing Rylee and Beck again. I absolutely cannot wait for the other stories from Port Snow. Give me all the Knightly Brothers and more please!
We got a little snippet of the Knightly brothers in Two Wedding Crashers so I was so glad they get their own series. Griffin is absolutely yummy. He is still dealing with a huge loss and doesn't want any entanglements. Ren crashes into town, literally, and his life is never the same. The scene of him helping her was so vivid and funny. Griffin fought his attraction so hard....fortunately for Ren it was a losing battle! Great start to the Knightly Brothers series!
This was such a feel good romance. I had a smile on my face through most of the story, but there were some laugh out loud spots and moments of sadness. Not super angsty, kind of a slow burn, an all around enjoyable read with likeable characters and the start to what I can tell will be a great series.
Ren seems kind of accident prone, which is a bad combo matched with Griffin, the guy who thinks he's cursed in love. These two are insanely cute, together and apart, and he's basically a one man welcoming committee for different aspects of the small town. I love their meddling families- these two are just perfect for each other. This here is just good romance, plain and simple.
I'm SO, SO SO sorry this book didn't work for me...
I usually love Meghan Quinn's RomCom and series, but this story felt too rushed, even too cheesy sometimes...
I needed something more angsty, more HOT and more consistant....
4.5 Moose Stars. I really enjoyed this story. Starts off with a bang and keeps you hooked until the end. Laugh out loud and swoon worthy moments as well as a fantastic supporting cast. Loved the chemistry and banter between Griffin and Ren. Definitely a fun and light read and so worth it.
While the brother live it up on a trip to New Orleans, they run the wrong way across a fortune teller and find themselves the object of a love curse. While it seems farfetched, the brothers start to believe it's truth when they return home and face certain problems.
Certain his love life is ruined, Griffin dredges ahead in his daily life until a chance encounter with Ren Winters. They have an obvious attraction but Griffin feels doomed. While they court the issue of a romance, this small town and the family make for a fun and interesting read.
I loved this book! The plot is fun, the characters quirky, and the romance hot. Cursed by an angry fortune teller in New Orleans, Griffin and his brothers become very unlucky in love. Although they're great looking and successful, no one in their small town of Port Snow will date them. It's not worth dealing with the curse. One day Griffin meets Ren on her way into town and saves her from a suicidal moose. She has had bad luck in the past and is looking for a fresh start. Together she and Griffin have to figure out how to deal with the curse and have a real relationship. I laughed out loud several times. Highly recommended.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for letting me read this book. I've read a few of Meghan Quinn's books before and this one is my favourite so far. It was set in a picturesque place and featured many small town characters that I hope are in the following novels to come. The relationship progressed nicely with the plot and contained lots of funny dialogue; between the characters and the brothers.
There were a few heartfelt moments which made this book quite special and I hope that in the last book at least, they finally find the woman who cursed them.
I usually enjoy Meghan Quinn's books, and this book was no exception. I thought the premise of the story was original and intriguing. I enjoyed the setting of the story, which was in a small town in Maine, and all that comes with small town living.
I enjoyed Ren and Griffin as characters and found the interactions between Griffin and his siblings entertaining. I am excited to see if there are future books about the other brothers and would love to read those as well.
I am madly in love with this book. The characters, the story, the setting, Everything is pure perfection. Meghan Quinn never fails to deliver a book that has laughs, and feels. This book made me want to crawl inside and live in it. The by play of the characters, the brothers and sister of Griffin are all crazy, and fun loving. You get a surprise visit from another character of Megha's from another series, but I am not telling you who.
Read the book if you want to know, but I will say you won't be disappointed. As always this story is so well thought out, well put together, it just flows from one scene to another with an ease I wish all writers had. This story is told in dual pov, which makes it really a fun, lovely read.

That Second Chance is a great romance with some brilliant scenes, sparkling dialogue and a cast of well rounded characters.
Griffin Knight and his three brothers are in New Orleans where they unwittingly upset a palm reader, who then curses them saying ‘any love they find will be broken’. Shortly after this Griffins wife dies suddenly, so he’s convinced it because of the curse, and there after refuses to contemplate any relationship.
Two years pass and when on duty as a volunteer fireman he rescues Ren from a car accident, she has just arrived in the New England town to start a job as mathematics teacher.
Both become good friends and there is an obvious attraction between them but Ren is becoming increasingly frustrated as Griffin won’t act on it. So we have the story develop, and it does so wonderfully. Griffins brothers are brilliant, so funny, except for Rogan the quiet moody one who hopefully will be the next to have his story told.
My thanks to net galley and publisher Montlake for the opportunity to review this book honestly.
Fun, heartwarming and full of emotion, That Second Chance is one of Meghan Quinn’s best books! From the prologue on, the story had me hooked! Griffin and Ren’s story was exciting, full of hope and so much more, I was swooning the entire time I read it! From the main characters to the entire Knightly family, from Ren and her parents, to the town of Port Snow itself, this story packed a punch! The Knightly Brothers are here people...be ready to be swept away by every last one of them!
