I loved this book!

The Knightly brothers are cursed on their brothers 21st birthday by a fortune teller/palm reader in New Orleans - and since then their love lives have been destined to fail. I can only hope that this is the start of a series of books for each of the brothers because they are dreamy- handsome, intelligent, and full of heart.

This book is about Griffin- a Knightly brother whose wife was tragically taken from him; and the woman Ren who comes into his life at the right time. It is a sweet small town story with enough steamy scenes to keep you excited and tons of romance to keep you swooning.

I cannot wait to see if there is more to the story- the brothers, the town, all of it.

Port Snow, Maine is not only known for its charming small town feel and it's infamous, melt-in-your-mouth lobster bisque, but for the heart-stopping and ridiculously gorgeous Knightly brothers; Griffin, Rogan, Reid, and Brig. But word traveling through the grapevine is all four of them are completely and utterly untouchable.

Two years ago, the Knightly brothers took a trip to New Orleans to celebrate the youngest brother, Brig, turning twenty-one. During one of their drunken walks back to their hotel, they not so gracefully stumbled over an older woman, holding up a sign to read palms. Feeling bad about breaking her palm reading table, Brig decides to see what his future holds and hands the lady a twenty-dollar bill.

Not believing a word the lady is saying, they drunkenly mock her and call the entire palm reading a hoax. Furious with the boys, she casts a curse over them, her gaze landing directly on Griffin the oldest brother, as she spoke. “Listen to me, to the words I have spoken. From this day on, your love will be broken. It isn’t until your minds have matured, that the weight of this curse will forever be cured.” The boys exchange glances, brows creased, confusion written all over their faces . . . yeah right, what a load of crock!

At least that's what they thought . . .

CUTE COUPLE ALERT!!! First of the series featuring four Knightley brothers.
This story is adorable. I love small town romance. There is something sweet and charming about it. Lots of gossips, family meddling but they all mean well. I mean I literally just want to move to Port Snow and live there right along with the characters. Love the chemistry and the cute flirting, easy friendship, and the slow-burn between Griffin and Ren. Griffin will have to get over his commitment-phobia, the guilt (he thinks he is curse) and give love a second chance. There is mistake and groveling which make a good second chance romance. Love the funny banters, laugh out loud moments and some heart-melting moments too. This is quite a lovely and heartwarming read!!! Awesome start to a new series.

This was a sweet and heartfelt romance. Ren and Griffin meet when she crashes her car because a moose jumps in front of her and Griffin is the volunteer firefighter who rescues her. He is worried that he is cursed and does not want to impact his relationship with her and tries to avoid the feelings he has for her. This was a small town book and does feature Beck and Rylee from Two Wedding Crashers so I would suggest reading their story before this one. I really did enjoy this book and would recommend it because every time Meghan writes a book it is guaranteed to be good!

I absolutely adored this book--so much so that if it wasn't for the fact that I had to go to work, I would have finished it in one sitting. Quinn creates a picturesque town and enchanting characters that captures your heart in the ways only a contemporary novel can. I loved watching our Griffin and Ren get to know each other both platonically as well as romantically. The emotions that Quinn has Griffin face throughout the story was one that was raw and heart-touching; reading his backstory and watching his development as he learns to move on and let go was one of the most beautiful things I have read in a long time.

Combine that with the deep rooted elements of a strong family bond and ya girl was wishing she too was moving to this New England town herself! I honestly recommend this touching and romantic story about second love and second chances to anyone willing it give it a go! You seriously will not be disappointed!

Y'all, how in the world did I let a second chance romance with a small town setting from one of my favorite authors sit and languish on my shelves for over two months? I'm so disappointed in myself. I am not, however, disappointed in That Second Chance. Holy cow, this book. It did SO MANY THINGS to my heart. It just might be my new favorite Meghan Quinn book. I mean, if I played favorites.

That Second Chance grabbed me from the first few pages and didn't let go. I love a good prologue and Meghan knocked this one out of the park. There was no stopping once I got that little taste. I couldn't get enough of Griffin or Ren. Don't even get me started on the secondary characters. I'm so glad this series is set up to give each of Griffin's brothers their own books. I'm so greedy for all their stories.

Griffin's story tugged at my heartstrings. The loss of his wife was palpable. As was his guilt over her passing, and his fear of the curse he's convinced caused her death. I hated that he was going through all that because he was such a great guy. It was obvious how much he loved his brothers, and I really loved the dynamic between them. Not only did it knock me in the feels a couple times, but it also made me laugh out loud more than once.

I adored Ren, too. She'd been through her own challenges and moved to Port Snow to escape her past (and her overbearing parents). I appreciated her spunk and overall energy. I couldn't have shipped her and Griffin any harder if I tried. It was obvious from their first meeting, no matter how unconventional, there was something between them. I enjoyed watching them become friends and then ultimately grow into more.

I loved everything about That Second Chance. It had everything I love about Meghan's books. I laughed, cried, swooned and fanned myself more than once. (That lake scene, yo. So flipping hot.) It was wonderful to see some old favorite characters, while meeting new ones. But now I need Rogan's story. It, too, is a second chance romance and I am here for it.

Favorite Quotes:

"Cupid hit my little brother with a giant moose. Oh, this is so wonderful."

All I'm asking for is this one moment, this one instance, when I can forget about the past, forget about the curse, and life the life I wish I could have.

"I can't even pinpoint a moment when I've wanted something as badly as I want your lips on mine."

If you are into voodoo and lobsters, “That Second Chance” is for you. If you enjoy romances in beaches and in campground, then, this book is definitely for you!

A romantic comedy, author Meghan Quinn will have you laughing in stitches in the first chapter of “That Second Chance.” Even at the Prologue, there were already lots of laugh out loud funny moments. This light touch stayed through until the end.

From the moment Ren Winters used the phrase “suicidal moose” and Griffin Knightly carried Ren on steep hill all on his own, it has been nonstop ribbing, matchmaking and setting up for these two would be lovers.

The term “it takes a village” takes a new meaning as the whole town of Port Snow conspire to set up Ren and Griffin.

A fun and easy read, “That Second Chance” will be a good beach or poolside companion. The book is Rated T for Teens.

GAH! This novel was amazing!!

Griffin and Ren are two characters you can't help but fall in love with. They have this undeniable chemistry between them, that will leave you swooning throughout the entire novel.

There was so much angst throughout this novel. At one point, I thought, "could there be any more angst?", then, in the next few pages, the angst got upped to a whole other level and had my heart rate soaring!

I loved how much all of the characters in this novel cared about one another. Despite the fact that at times they may appear overbearing, and all up in your business, they are solely doing it out of love. They want the best for everyone no matter what that is.

I definitely recommend this novel to everyone! Make sure to purchase it today, before the second book in the series releases!

5/5 Stars!

I love a good Meghan Quinn book. She can write a story that’s funny, sweet and serious all in one go. I loved the vibe of this book, from the small seaside town, to the nosy town folk, all the way to the tight knit family feel. I may have a small crush on everyone of the Knightly Brothers.

Griffin and Ren were absolutely adorable. I loved their chemistry. I loved how they met! The banter between Ren and all of the brothers was also priceless. This was a great read and I cannot wait for the next book in the series!!

Cute Couple!

Once again Meghan Quinn has tickled my fancy with her characters and her sense of humor. Although this book had a more serious tone, she did a great job at balancing the funny with the sad.

Griffin was to die for instantly. Not only does he run his family business, but he's a volunteer firefighter AND heads up all kinds of committees in the small town he loves to call home. Unlike others, Griffin and his equally hot brothers (and a sister) enjoy the small-town life they've chosen.

Ren is looking to spread her wings somewhere new. Tired of the hustle and bustle of LA, she lands in Port Snow, Maine. As opposite of LA as she can get. Ren is also looking to put a few miles between her and her parents, while she loves them to death, she needs to do this on her own.

While they both have some baggage, Ren and Griffin strike up a friendship in the most unique way and I couldn’t wait to see them turn it into more. Too bad Griffin is a bit superstitious and thinks a curse put on him and his brothers years ago is real.

The book is well written and along with Griffin and Ren, his entire family is front and center. That is one of the many things I appreciate in Meghan Quinn's writing, she keeps the story moving along with the supporting characters, using them to lighten the heavy parts. That Second Chance is book one in the series, with the mysterious Rogan Knightley up next.

Charming and endearing characters.
Charming and endearing characters. I have a sweet spot for family stories and that one was full of charm and sweetness.
Was it possible to literally be cursed in love? This was Griffin’s life. Until he met a woman that would make him think twice about it. Four brothers untouchable and they seemed to be cursed when it came to their love life.

This small town romance was heartwarming and swoon-worthy. Ren and Griffin had such a beautiful chemistry, so darn cute together. A woman who knew how to pass his defenses, she was full of kindness and fun. A lethal combination for Griffin who were determined not to fall again and hurt someone in the process.

This was a very promising first installment in the series. I can't wait to read more about the Knightly family.

I went into this book completely blind. I am a huge fan of Meghan Quinn so I will read anything she writes and since this one was traditionally published, it was a bit more hush-hush which played the role in me having no clue what it is about. I did choose to ignore any and all musings that Meghan posted because I had gone so long not knowing, that I wanted to stay in the clouds with this one.

I am not sure if the fact that I did not know what I was getting into made this book all the more enjoyable or if it was because I have known what to expect of Meghan and this book just felt like she grew exponentially in her writing and creativity.

That Second Chance is set in a small town and they way she describe this town, I want to move there. Meghan does a superb job of setting the town up beautifully and introduces all the characters perfectly. You can easily tell this series will be about the Knightly brothers but this particular book is bout Griffin.

The prologue takes us back two years when the boys were visiting New Orleans for the youngest' 21st birthday. During their drunken walk, they found themselves in front of palm reader who places a curse upon all four of them - a curse none of them take seriously.

Griffin turns into a totally different person when his life is forever changed unexpectedly.

Ren has chosen to start a new life, getting away from her mother.

Meghan sets this story up beautifully. I have no idea where to even start on what I loved about this story. Ren holds nothing back and definitely doesn't take Griffin's hesitancy well. Griffin is still living under this dark cloud and allows the curse to rule his life. While at times that annoyed me, I love that Ren is there to set him straight.

That Second Chance is a slow burn and I loved every minute of it. I love the atmosphere, the characters, the banter - all of it. Meghan writes another amazing romance and sets the pace for this series perfectly!

Get ready for a new series filled with romance, passion and even some magic voodoo by Meghan Quinn. We have Griffin Knightly who has it all family, friends and a love that seems forever. Then we have Ren Winters who by far is ready to live again. These two together started as friends but can see right away how right they belong together. I loved that Meghan Quinn shows us that with a little bit of magic love can overcome anything with a bit of faith. The love he has is strong but like all men he can be an idiot at times. This is one series that is already becoming a favorite for this reader and there is 4 of these sexy Knightly brothers. Loved it.

Everyone believes Griffin is cursed. It all started a couple of years ago on a trip to New Orleans to celebrate one of his brothers' birthday. They were all drunk when they ran into a fortune teller and her rickety table. Too much mouthing off at the gypsy woman, a broken table, and an irate fortune teller later, and all the brothers were supposed to be cursed in love. Events that followed that incident were either fated or part of the curse. Griffin's love life was never the same. All the single gals gave him a wide berth, just in case.

Now there is a new girl in town, Ren, who moved in only a couple of houses down from him. There is attraction and the need to protect her, but can he possibly risk giving his heart away again? What if the curse is for real?

I found this book adorable and entertaining to the point it needed five stars. Do not miss it!

Review: THAT SECOND CHANCE (Getting Lucky Book 1) by Meghan Quinn https://wp.me/p3d0RZ-b9a

After reading this, I am moving to Port Snow. I loved the people in the little town and how they interacted. I liked Ren right away with her slightly awkward introduction to Griffin…who was of course, wonderful. They had a wonderful flirty banter that never seemed forced, but rather flowed off the page and made me smile. The same holds true with Griffin’s family and their teasing and fun verbal sparring. The love story moved at an appropriate pace and the heat level was just right. It all came together to make a lovely contemporary romance that still has me smiling. I can’t wait for book two, and hope Ms. Quinn decides to write more than just the two…I want more.
