That Second Chance introduces us to a new community (Port Snow) and a new family (the Knightly’s) as it kicks off a new series. Ms Quinn does an excellent job of world building and balancing the romantic story of Griffin and Ren in this fun and sweet read.
All of the characters here are entertaining and easy to like. I found myself rooting for them to find their happy even when they weren’t being their best selves.
Well written, That Second Chance paints a realistic portrayal of a young man learning to let himself love again. Add in a unique meet cute and hilarious secondary cast, and you have a book that makes you want to come back for more. I am definitely curious to see what happens with the other Knightly brothers.

This was another hit from Meghan! I’m giving it 4 out of 5 stars. This review is for an ARC, and reflects my honest opinion.

I was a little nervous going into this book due to the curse aspect. I shouldn’t have been though, because I’ve enjoyed everything I’ve read from this author. The characters always suck me in, I smile and laugh at least a dozen times, etc.

The summary made me think this would play out differently than it did in certain aspects. Regardless, I loved going back to this small town where I got to see some old favorite characters, and met new ones as well. Griffin was a really good character overall; my heart went out to him and everything he endured. He was so hesitant about love until Ren showed up, and essentially blew up his world.

Now onto Ren…she was fantastic! I loved her personality, and the fact that she wasn’t afraid to embrace her new life. Regarding side characters, I loved every one of the Knightlys, Rylee, Beck, Ruth, etc. I am so excited to see more from these characters (especially the brothers) in future books. Give me book two ASAP!

I am at a loss for words. I've come to love everything by this author. This book felt like it was a little different from what she usually writes. At first I was scared but it was phenomenal! She can pull off any kind if book that she puts her mind to! One of my top reads this year!

I loved this story. I loved how quirky and fun and sweet this town was. I want to live there. It is so charming. I loved all the characters and I can't wait to read more stories with the secondary characters in this one. I am definitely left wanting more from all of them. This story was so full of heart and it made me smile. I can't to see what Meghan brings us next.

That Second Chance is the first book in the Getting Lucky Series by the ever amazing Meghan Quinn. We got a small glimpse into the town of Port Snow and Griffin Knightly during Two Wedding Crashers, even then I was hooked by the idea of a small town setting and a family curse on love.

This novel introduces us to all 4 Knightly Brothers - Griffin, Rogan, Reid and Brig, as well as their sister Jen. That Second Chance focuses on Griffin and starts things off by setting up the family curse, which is cast by a palm reader in New Orleans on Brig's 21st birthday. Since the trip the Knightly brothers have steered clear of relationships, with every woman in town knowing they are now untouchable. So when Ren Winters comes literally crashing into town, no thanks to a suicidal moose, Griffin knows he is in real trouble.

What I loved about this book was basically everything! Meghan describes this town so well I can picture it's layout and literally walk around it in my mind, I want to visit the real port snow! The family relationship between the Knightly siblings, how all the men look similar but are all so different in their personalities. Meghan always writes excellent banter in her books and this one is no exception. Some of my favourite moments were the teasing and joking between the four Knightly men; but add it Ren keeping up and giving it to Reid and Brig during the camping trip, had me giggling away to myself as I read.

When it comes to our hero and heroine, both Griffin and Ren are such loveable characters. Reading as their friendship blossoms despite the towns gossip mill twisting things up in hilarious ways, was an addictive read. There were so many special moments in the book, no over the top gestures of grandeur; but full of romantic nuances that had me swooning so hard. The way Meghan would describe the gentle touches between Griffin and Ren, the lift of her chin, the brush of fingertips, the nervous smiles across the room, my heart just swelled. The simple gestures in their story made the biggest impact on me and Meghan's writing showcased this beautifully without necessary levels of detail. Add in the angst of Griffin's fear of the curse hanging over his head, leaving him destined for heartbreak and loneliness and you have the perfect mix for a 5 star romance book!

I am so excited for the next book in the series coming in August, after that epilogue I have no doubt I am going to enjoy Rogan's story too. Hopefully down the line we get Reid and Brig's tales too, because I can't get enough of Port Snow.

After a tragic end to his marriage, Griffin Knightley believes he and his brothers are love cursed. The entire female population of Port Snow agrees. When Ren Winter moves to the picturesque town, she’s ready for a new start. The chemistry between Griffin and the new teacher seem to indicate that something might be sparking to life. But he dodges anything but friendship at every turn. Are these two destined to escape the friend zone or will Griffin’s fears keep him trapped alone?

“The way her eyes light up with excitement, her features coming alive – it does something to me, something I haven’t felt in a while. It’s as if for the first time in two years, my body is waking up from a deep slumber, lighting up inside.”

Loved it! I fell in love with Port Snow in the Two Wedding Crashers and could not be happier with this setting. Ren is such a strong, resilient woman and she made me so proud when she fought for what she wanted. It’s so refreshing! Griffin…what a perfectly flawed man. He had such swoonworthy qualities that would have any female sighing in his midst. But of course, we have the scars that he carries that keep women at a distance. At times I wanted to give him a little shake but then pull him in for a hug. He’s just such a dear, sweet man that you can’t help but want the very best for him. Both of these characters tugged at my heartstrings and sucked me neck deep into this story. It was a beautiful romantic story that was a pleasure to read.

If you haven’t read the Dating by Numbers series, what are you waiting for? Rylee and Beck were such a fun couple who made me laugh and cry and fall in love. Every single couple in the series had me so addicted to their happy ever after.

That Second Chance by Meghan Quinn
Getting Lucky #1

The Knightly brothers are four peas in a pod with an older sister. This book is about Griffin and his second chance at love...if he is willing to open his heart, take a chance and become mature enough to put the curse handed out to him and his brothers in New Orleans into the correct perspective.

When new-to-town algebra teacher Ren Winteres arrives the two realize there is a spark between them but it takes forever to burst into flame. Ren is much more open and willing to really live after an experience she had a year before but Griffin seems a bit stuck and in need of being shaken up to get on with his life.

This book is an introduction to the four brothers, the town and to the curse that all of the brothers believe impacts them. It is a bit predictable at times but flows smoothly and was an easy happy read with a HEA/HFN ending and a lead into brother Rogan’s story that will appear in book 2.

Did I like this book? Yes
Would I rad book two in the series? Yes

Thank you to NetGalley and Montlake Romance for the ARC – This is my honest review.

I’m soooo freaking excited to be back in the small town of Port Snow, Maine! I fell in love with the little town in Two Wedding Crashers and was instantly curious about the infamous Knightly brothers.

This first book in the new series is about the oldest brother, Griffin, and let me tell you...saa-wooooon! After a trip to celebrate his youngest brother’s birthday, word spread quickly through their small town about the “love curse” put on them making them the most wanted, ineligible bachelors in all of Port Snow. Ren is moving to the other side of the country for a fresh start in the picturesque small town and rolls into town with a bang, thanks to a suicidal moose (her words lol). I loved her so much. Her quirkiness was just so endearing.

These two were so great together and once Griffin FINALLY got his head out of his ass and decided to NOT let the curse rule his love life, they were even better. Tons of chemistry and a love you’ll envy. Overall, I loved Griffin and Ren’s story and I can’t wait for the rest of the Knightly brothers and to watch them overcome their own demons with the “love curse”. Great start to this new series from Meghan Quinn.

I’m a huge Meghan Quinn fan, and her new Getting Lucky series has me bursting with excitement. Quinn’s captivating writing style – an engrossing blend of humor, heat and heart – never fails to draw me in, and she brought her fantastic sense of humor, some heart-tugging emotion and plenty of steam to the table in That Second Chance. Set in small-town, coastal Maine, Quinn introduces readers to the four Knightly brothers as she gives the oldest brother, Griffin, his much deserved, hard-earned happily ever after.

I don’t want to spoil a single thing about this story, so I’ll just say that Quinn gives the second chance romance trope her own stamp with an interesting and addictive spin. This couple has one heck of a charming meet-cute to kick off their slow-burning, friends-to-lovers romance. Griffin Knightly has been dealt the harshest of hands when it comes to love, and this man is carrying around more baggage than the Kardashian clan traipsing through LAX as they leave on vacation. Ren has had her own challenges, and she’s in Maine to start over. This couple’s chemistry crackled from the start, and while he tried hard to deny it, he ultimately couldn’t. The question then became, would he have the courage to deal with his past and face his fears to salvage his future?

That Second Chance was a charming, hard-fought, slow-burn second-chance romance, and I didn't want to put it down. I was all-in with this couple from page one, and I devoured their story with a racing, hopeful heart. Quinn’s writing kept me engaged, entertained and grinning from cover-to-cover. Five smooches from me for That Second Chance by Meghan Quinn!

Griffin and Ren are quirky and fun, they have a fun friendship that slowly turns to more. They help each other out, even without knowing or realizing how. Things just fall into place for them naturally.
I loved being pulled into the details of this quaint little town, I wish it were real so I could actually visit... and maybe bring some of that Lobster Landing fudge home... now that I’m drooling over not only fudge, but Griffin, I can say that I recommend this funny HEA romance.
The only thing I didn’t care for was how often Ren used the words cute or adorable to describe something.

4.5 Small Town Stars

THAT SECOND CHANCE by Meghan Quinn is in the simplest terms, the perfect beach read. It’s light, funny, charming, and is easy to devour. Kind of like the characters – funny, charming, and some are very easy to devour.

The small town of Port Snow, Maine is picturesque from the storefronts to its townspeople. Especially the Kightly brothers. And while there is some angst, it is wholly a sweet, second chance romance.

As with all small towns (I should know), there is a rumor mill and it seems as though the grade-school game of telephone is alive and well. Those stories draw you closer to the Knightly brothers and into the love story between Griffin and Ren. It is a slow moving romance and I enjoyed watching their love gradually unfold throughout the book.

Meghan Quinn’s sense of humor comes out full force in THAT SECOND CHANCE and while I was reading, I found myself chuckling more times than not because of jokes or character antics.

THAT SECOND CHANCE is a slow-build, sweet, contemporary romance filled with humor, family, and fudge. What more could you ask for?

Griffin is the eldest Knight brother who believes that the curse a palm reader placed on the brother’s dooming them to a life without love is true and he has the scars to prove it. He is the perfect combination of heart and heat as he works for the family business and is a volunteer firefighter.

Ren has recently moved to Port Snow to start her new job as a teacher as she is looking for a new beginning away from her overprotective family. When she gets into an accident with a moose she comes out on the losing end and it is Griffin to the rescue.

From their first meeting the sparks fly, and a friendship develops. She is the one woman in town willing to ignore the curse and she is determined to show Griffin that he needs to ignore it as well.

This is a sweet and sexy small town romance that is filled with family and fun. The chemistry between them electric, the banter humorous and the great secondary characters leave you wanting more of this family and this town. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

THAT SECOND CHANCE (Getting Lucky Book 1) by Meghan Quinn is a new contemporary romance set in quaint, small town Port Snow, Maine. This is the first book, hopefully of four, featuring the Knightly brothers and their search for true love after being cursed by a fortune teller in NOLA.

Ren Winters is lucky to be alive. After surviving a chain reaction crash on an L.A. freeway and a year of recovery, she is ready to move on with her life and out from under the constant excessive worry from her mother. She accepts a new job teaching algebra clear across the country in a small town in Maine. A moose vs. car encounter on her first day is not what she was expecting, but it puts her right where she needs to be, in the arms of a handsome volunteer firefighter.

Griffin Knightly has always been the responsible oldest brother of the four Knightly brothers. They are four of the hottest bachelors in town, but small town gossip has left them untouchable. Coming home with a curse from New Orleans, Griffin suffers a loss that makes him a believer and women stay away. He fills his life with the family business, volunteering on the fire department and many other civic groups. When called out for a car crash, he rescues a hysterical Ren.

Ren cannot believe that this handsome man lives right down the street from her new home and is willing to introduce her to her new hometown. Griffin is trying to stay away from the new teacher, who is funny, quirky and sweet, but his family keeps throwing them together. The chemistry between Ren and Griffin is strong, but is it strong enough to defeat Griffin’s fears?

I absolutely loved this romance and all of the Knightly boys! Ms. Quinn captured my heart with this family and small town. The dialogue is spot on between the siblings with just the right amount of love and snark. All of the characters were full fleshed out and believable. The sex in this romance is explicit and hot and the slow build-up to it made me as anxious as the characters. This is one of those books that you read quickly to get to the HEA and are completely engrossed in the romance and yet when it is over, you want more.

I highly recommend this romance and I cannot wait to read the other Knightly boys’ stories!

Meghan Quinn brings this heartwarming small town romance to life and makes you fall in love with the Port Snow town. I loved everything about this book from the characters to the story to the sexy times; it has everything your romantic heart desires.

The Knightly brothers are everywhere and it was so funny when Ren thought she was seeing Griffin all over town. Ren and Griffin have been through some hard times these last couple years but I truly believe that they were sent to each other to fill in the empty spots in their hearts.
Meghan doesn’t forget to add her witty humor to the story bringing you one amazingly romantic and funny story to warm your heart.

I cannot wait for more of these Knightly boys. Their family is funny and meddlers but one you’ll want to be a part of. And it does help that they have some really good genes and are sexy has all hell.

Meghan set us up at the end for the next book and it can’t come fast enough.

I now want to visit Port Snow, Maine! This was the great beginning of what I can already tell is going to be an amazing series!

This book captivated me from the very beginning. Ms. Quinn has a way with words - she can tear you apart in one sentence and then make you laugh in the next.

A firefighter and a teacher - how much more perfection do you need in your next book? Ren and Griffin both stole my heart from their very first chapter. I loved reading both of their perspectives and getting to know each of them (especially as their worlds collide).

Let's not forget the other Knightly brothers! I want so much more of them! Fingers crossed that we get more of them in the rest of this series!

An amazing small town romance that grabbed me right from the start.
Ren Winters is the new Algebra teacher in the small town of Port Snow, Maine. She has just made it into town when a run in with a moose has her in need of a rescuing. Her determination to live her life and be independent had me admiring her from the get go.
Griffin Knightly is the future owner of his family's fudge shop and a part time volunteer firefighter. He had my heart from the start.
What an amazing start to this new series! I can't wait to see what Meghan brings us next from the Knightly brothers!

That Second Chance is the first book in a new series about four brothers. Two years ago, the Knightley brothers went to New Orleans for the youngest brother’s birthday, and managed to anger a palm reader, who cursed them in love. This one follows the oldest brother, Griffin. It’s set in Port Snow, Maine, a fictional small town. This was probably my favorite part of the entire book. The town was like another character. Quinn really painted a picture of this town, and man, I wish I could go visit!

Griffin believes wholeheartedly that he is cursed since this trip. He meets Ren, a new girl in town, in a pretty dramatic fashion, and they embark on a friendship together that eventually turns into more. This was very much a slow burn. We watch their romance progress slowly, but I think the character development was incredible because of this and it also helps that they are such likable characters.

It’s a truly heartwarming read, with a small town dynamic and meddling family members, and I LOVED every second of it! Cannot wait to get my hands on book two!
