Due to a sudden, unexpected passing in the family a few years ago and another more recently and my subsequent (mental) health issues stemming from that, I was unable to download this book in time to review it before it was archived as I did not visit this site for several years after the bereavements. This meant I didn't read or venture onto netgalley for years as not only did it remind me of that person as they shared my passion for reading, but I also struggled to maintain interest in anything due to overwhelming depression. I was therefore unable to download this title in time and so I couldn't give a review as it wasn't successfully acquired before it was archived. The second issue that has happened with some of my other books is that I had them downloaded to one particular device and said device is now defunct, so I have no access to those books anymore, sadly.

This means I can't leave an accurate reflection of my feelings towards the book as I am unable to read it now and so I am leaving a message of explanation instead. I am now back to reading and reviewing full time as once considerable time had passed I have found that books have been helping me significantly in terms of my mindset and mental health - this was after having no interest in anything for quite a number of years after the passings. Anything requested and approved will be read and a review written and posted to Amazon (where I am a Hall of Famer & Top Reviewer), Goodreads (where I have several thousand friends and the same amount who follow my reviews) and Waterstones (or Barnes & Noble if the publisher is American based). I initially found the jumps between all the characters a little confusing to keep track of, but really enjoyed the story and the suspense built up throughout

This was a brilliant read. As soon as I started reading this book I just knew I was going to love it. Highly recommended

Wow, what a mental ride this one was! You just never knew what to expect with obviously a mentally unstable housemate! Recommended for anyone who loves a read that keeps you guessing!

Omg talk about a roller coaster read wow this book kept me on the edge of my seat threw out I just couldn't put it down this writer keeps you hooked and once your hooked your not letting go I found this book thrilling the characters were fantastic and well thought out and the little clues all the way threw keep you guessing until the end this book stays with you long after you close the book this book is well worth the read I promise you wont be disappointed

The second C.L. Pattison book I’ve read as I enjoyed the previous one.

This was a good read, a little predictable but the pace throughout was upheld with two timelines and point of view by the main two characters.

I loved the characters, all had elements that brought them to life. The friendship between them was evident and each had their own individual storylines too.

A great book and looking forward to the authors next novel.

The Housemate is one of those books that will keep you glued to your seat until the very end.

In this novel we find best friends Chloe and Megan searching and finding what they believed to be the perfect house. Now all they have to do is find the perfect housemate. Will Samantha be that roommate?

This is a very intense psychological thriller you will want to read with the lights on.

A gripping psychological thriller. Very relevant to so many people who have been in a house share, though hopefully not like this one. Twisty enough to keep your attention, well written. Highly recommended.

I was very much torn between whether to give this book 3 or 4 stars. I enjoyed it and I liked that I didn’t guess the ending, but there was just something that held me back from giving it that extra star. I like suspense in a thriller and there wasn’t quite enough in this book;I just found myself plodding along with it. But saying that, I have read it in 24 hours so there must have been something about it!

This is a great book that is both thrilling and chilling and kept me reading late into the night. Two friends decide to rent a house together but on finding the perfect place realise they cannot afford the rent between them so decide to find another tenant and sinister and disquieting incidents begin to happen affecting the closeness of the two friends bringing change for the worse in a tense and ultimately shocking way. The story is narrated by the two friends but it is also mixed with the unhappy story a young girl. A really good psychological tale that will have you riveted throughout.

Really enjoyed this. First one by the author and look forward to reading more. Good writing, good twists, was definitely not disappointed!

This was a really good read - I liked getting to see the perspectives of both Megan and Chloe as well as the young girls perspective of her childhood (although we don’t find out who this is until the end!) The twist in who the little girl was was also brilliant and I didn’t see it coming, would definitely recommend this!

I couldn't stop reading! So much tension as it builds to a horrifying finale. Brilliant twist towards the end end, just when you think you know the score. Can't wait to read more from the author!

The Housemate is a psychological thriller with many twists and turns and concerns three young woman who house share. Megan and Chloe have been friends for 12 years and Sammi is the third person who comes in to house share with the other two girls. By the end of the book only two girls survive.
An intriguing storyline and interesting characters, made this an enjoyable read.
Highly recommended.

A brilliant psychological thriller that draws you in straight away and makes you keep reading to see what happens next, and try to work out what the heck is going on in this house-share. The chapters alternate between Megan and Chloe, then occasionally there is a chapter which takes you back in time to a little girl having a traumatic childhood and acting strangely, and you are not sure who she is until nearly the end of the book, but all the way through I swapped between who I thought it was. The characters and lives of Megan Chloe and Sammi are all explored thoroughly and you are sure you know them, and none of them would be doing such despicable things to the others, surely?!

It certainly made me want to keep reading and gave me goosebumps in places and feel quite uncomfortable about some of the happenings, but nevertheless I could not stop reading and I cannot wait to read more by this Author, well done C.L. Pattison, you have a new fan in me.

Despite some darker and disturbing elements, not to my taste, this is still a well woven, twisty, chiller thriller with credible characterisation and effective mounting tension.

Gripping and enjoyable, this was a quick read for me which I thoroughly enjoyed. . Highly recommended.

On the lines of single white female this thriller will keep you guessing and if you think you have figured it out , I guarantee you’ll be wrong!
Beautiful written , the story flows with suspense and gives you that just one more chapter ... chapter after chapter.

Chloe and Megan need a housemate and when they meet Samantha they think she’s perfect ,but have they made a mistake ? I am not going to say to much about the plot as I don’t want to spoil it.
