When we decide to choose God's Dare, truth comes along with it. In Kate Battistelli's book God Dare, she shares her stories, the stories of those who have gone before us in the Bible, and in turn, the story and truth of what God has called us to. We don't always see the practical or probable in what God prompts us to do in our lives but Kate shows us how He helps us to do impossible things when we trust enough to take the dare. I love the Scripture highlights, God Dare Secrets, and discussion questions that draw out how God is at work in our own lives as He had been at work in the lives of those in the Bible.

I came to The God Dare a bit skeptical. There have been a lot of Christian nonfiction that’s just disappointing. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and it was quite convicting. A good mix of scripture and personal stories. This gives a perspective on obedience I hadn’t thought of before

Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for allowing me to read and review this book.

This is one of those books that you didnt know you needed until you read it. When I sat down to read The God Dare by Kate Battistelli, I was excited to read it just because of who the author was. As I read the book, I was even more excited to finish it because the content was so moving. I was given a God dare many years ago. I have since gotten impatient and bored of waiting for the right time for it. Reading this book has reignited my excitement and passion for my God dare, and reminded me that God is always there, and has equipped me to do what He has asked me to do. I highly recommend this book for everyone.

"My friend you can "wash your face" or you can wash someone's feet." In The God Dare Kate distinguishes between doing what we want or what we think is important from following God's plan for our life. Kate's writing inspired me about what is possible through accepting a God Dare. She also made it feel incredibly personal, as she talked about how God has dares for each of us if we're willing to say yes. In each chapter she talks about the different God Dares that people in the Bible said yes to, giving plenty of examples to look to. I had never heard the idea of "choosing to be chosen", but it's the perfect way to describe what she means when we say yes to a God dare. A God Dare was a fresh new way of describing obedience.

I received an advanced reader copy from Barbour publishing and this is my honest review.

In this book the Author, Kate Battistelli takes you on a journey into not only her personal life and her own 'God Dare', but also into 'God Dares' that were given to many people in the Bible and how they chose to rise up to them.

The Author brings new perspective and thoughts on Bible stories that I myself had never considered before as well as shares things that happened in her personal journey of faith that encouraged me to be willing to take steps of faith in my own life -
I finished this book feeling challenged and ready to take on the 'God Dares' that the Lord may choose to give me in the future.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book and recommend it to anyone looking for encouragement in your walk of faith with the Lord!

This is a great book to use for a group study. The questions at the end of each chapter help keep discussion moving as you collectively work through the book.

The God Dare is written from the heart of what the author knows. It challenges the reader to believe what God would have us believe, taking into account where our passion lies, even if it currently lies dormant.

What is my purpose in life? I’ve been struggling with this question for a long time, Am I ignoring God’s voice, have I missed his calling, in all the hustle and struggles of life? These are just some of the few questions the Author wants you to ask yourself. In reading “The God Dare” by Kate Battistelli words of wisdom helps get you ready to answer his calling. I love how she uses stories from the Bible to help let go of the fear, doubts, and guilt that I have that stops me from doing what God Dares me to do. I received an advanced reader copy from the publisher and this is my honest opinion.

I received an ARC from Barbour Publishing, Inc. via NetGalley, this review is my personal opinion.

Kate Battistelli did a great job upon up and talking about her own God dare, by being open and honest about different situations live on her life, shed also takes us in a journey from different characters from the Bible and how they face their own God dare. All do this book could be read individually, I believe it could be much better if it read in a group. With an uplifting message that wants each one of us to trust, to believe, to take that God dares that she mention even when we may be scared. But tom remembers that we are not alone and that God will be with us at all times. Looking forward to reading more of this author.

Unfortunately, I was unable to finish this book. I found it to be way too repetitive. I think there could have been more depth to some of the chapters, too. However, I think the repetition will be helpful for some readers. While this isn’t for me, I hope that it does well in the hands of the right reader.

If partial stars were allowed, I would give this book a 4.5 stars simply because at times I felt like it rambled. That being said I had to round up to five stars simply because the author shares extensively from the Bible as well as from her personal experiences. I felt inspired to embrace the calling that God has for my own life. Although I have read through the Bible multiple times, she did point out different parts of the biblical narrative that I had not noticed before. That is definitely saying quite a bit because writing a book that retells familiar stories can be challenging. I would definitely read more from this author!

Battistelli does a fabulous job weaving her intriguing personal story along with biblical truths in the God Dare. After reading this book, you will want to step out, speak up, and share more of yourself with the world. Her approachable, encouraging words help you to see that your past does not define your future. Take the God Dare and see where He leads.

“The impossible is GOD’s comfort zone!”

For most of us, “impossibles” are the exact opposite. They challenge us. They stretch us. They cause us to fear and to doubt.

What is GOD calling me to do? Where is He leading me to the bottomless ocean of trust? What has He spoken to my heart?

I asked these questions and spoke the same words in prayer after listening to a podcast in which Kate Battistelli described the heart and message of her new book, “The GOD Dare.”

The LORD directed my heart to challenges big and small … as a wife, as a mother, as a writer. Times when the war in front of me seemed bigger than I could wage. Concerns that weigh heavy on my heart even now.

And His Word echoes back… “Look up! Bear witness to My majesty! Soak it in, breathe life eternal, glimpse glory.” … “I will help you. Let Me be your guide. Nothing is impossible with GOD.”

So many times, that job seems over my head! But He keeps lifting my chin to keep my own eyes fixed on Him.
. . .

“What hard thing has He asked me to do, to give up, to risk everything to answer His call?”

Reading Kate’s book, I continued to process these same questions. The LORD reminded me of other “impossibles” through which He has gently and kindly walked with me.

More than anything He has asked me to *do*, there have been things He has asked me to hand back to Him in surrender, trusting His bigger plan:

The ministry opportunity that stretched me but fell eerily silent just as I reached a place of trusting Him enough to step boldly forward. The pieces that seemed to be falling into place that would allow us to move home to the northern hills after 12 long years… until they didn’t. The LORD was effectively asking me again and again, “Do you trust Me? Are you willing to leave it all in My hands despite your aching heart and know (somehow mysteriously KNOW) that My best IS best?”

My heart broke both times, with fog and pain and questions that seemed impossible to sort out or overcome. BUT, there was utter freedom in surrender. A flood of peace that couldn’t be explained, and fresh joy in what was right in front of me. I can confidently say that the better choice both times was a wide open door to simply follow JESUS and hunger to know more of His heart!
. . .

Our “impossibles” challenge us. Stretch us. Cause us to fear and to doubt. Ask of us what seems more than we are able to give. Sometimes break our hearts.

But GOD.

He longs for us to bring our “impossibles” to Him, to ask Him how we can meet them with His help, His wisdom, His power. The LORD intentionally presents us with opportunities to face the impossible - not to crush us with defeat, but to draw our hearts to understand just how capable HE is and how He desires to do impossible things through us!

What are you facing that seems impossible? Something bigger and “crazier” than you ever pictured yourself tackling? Something desperately outside of your control? Or is it simply impossible to imagine the GOD of the universe speaking His plans directly to your heart? Or that He would ever declare value and eternal purpose over the countless moments in your life that seem unseen, small, or insignificant in your eyes? Or that His plans for you could stand undeterred by a part of your life you struggle to overcome?

Let Kate Battistelli take you by the hand and help you revisit accounts of men and women just like you. Their names may be familiar (David, Esther, or Joseph; Abraham, Hagar, or Jonah), but take a closer look at their stories, as they encounter the one true GOD, hear Him speak His plans and purposes to their hearts, and watch Him transform their “impossibles” into mind-boggling reality that draws their hearts to awestruck worship!

Kate concludes with the most precious appeal of all… the greatest invitation the LORD extends to each of us. To follow JESUS. To live like He does. Love like He does. Stand firm and unhurried and unwavering, confident in the Father’s plan! His purposes are always moving forward, undeterred, and right on schedule!

Left to our own devices, we are just not capable of such a goal. But GOD. JESUS gave everything to redeem us, to breathe new life into us, and to supply any and every need we have. His Spirit dwells within us, remaking us from the inside out. So our hearts can beat along side of His. So our character can reflect His. So our choices will align with His!

Read. Consider. And be encouraged! I, for one, am so grateful to be reminded that we can trust the LORD to meet us in our genuine desire to hear from Him. We can trust Him to reveal His heart to us. To equip and direct us as we step forward to fulfill His purposes for us. He longs to show us how His redeeming love and power can transform our “impossibles!”

“GOD still seeks those who will say YES, even when saying yes makes no sense, even when it’s hard, even when it’s costly.” – Kate Battistelli

Are you wondering what God is daring you to do in your life? Author, Kate Battistelli, wrote this book in such a way that inspired me to allow God to equip me as He calls me to a purpose. A purpose that I never imagined would take place in my life! I loved how she referenced many characters in the Bible to illustrate how God used each one.

At the end of each chapter, you'll find Discussion Questions that also make this book a great study for a small group. I was really encouraged by the outpouring of her own life circumstances, where God dared her in a different direction than she ever imagined! 'If God calls you to it, He will equip you to do it.'

BONUS - Her daughter, Christian recording artist, Francesca Battistelli, wrote the foreword in the book to introduce you to her mother's 'God Dare' journey.

Have you ever felt God daring you to do something you never thought of doing? In The God Dare, Kate shares stories of many people in the Bible and personal stories from her own life where God had dared her to trust in Him with the unknown in different situations. Like Kate, and the people in the Bible, God is daring us to trust and obey Him wholeheartedly with our life and the plans He has. The question is; will we step out of our comfort zone and answer yes to His dare?

Kate Battistelli has written a book that full of hope and encouragement. As she tells her story, she encourages the reader to find their purpose in life by making a commitment to follow God through every victory and valley we might be facing. She describes how God has lead their family and used them in ways they never expected. She uses scripture to point us to God and His great love for us. I was both comforted and challenged by reading this book. This would make a good book study for a ladies’s group.

Will you risk a God Dare?
Former Broadway performer (and mother of Christian singer Francesca Battistelli) Kate Battistelli's presents her book "The God Dare. Will You choose to Believe the Impossible" which was published by Barbour Publishing. In the introduction Battistelli asks / dares the readers and defines at the same time what she understands under God dare: "What's the crazy dream God has dropped in your heart? ... Has he given you a wild, preposterous, secret, scary, or enchanting dream or idea? That's what I call a God Dare because with god anything is possible." She underlines also: "The impossible is God's comfort zone" and "The God Dare will challenge you to go further than you believed possible." According to Battistelli this can be a hard and difficult thing. She presents the God Dares that Bible characters such as "The Patriarch" (Abraham), The Prince (Josef), or The Widow (Ruth), experienced, but she shares also experiences and challenges from her own life. She adds Bible verses (Scriptures to Think about), as well as reflections to the chapters (God Dare secrets) and completes them with Discussion Questions for the readers to interact with the particular topics of the chapters and to apply the God Dare secrets to their own lives.
I appreciated Battistelli's book for its Bible-based characters. Battistelli encourages the readers to step out of their comfort zones. She has also the references included when material is quoted and has added resources for readers who deal with or are touched by infertility, adoption, miscarriage, and abortion. I highly recommend this book for Christians who want to grow in their faith and are not afraid to be challenged - as individuals or in a group.
The complimentary copy of this book was provided by the publisher through NetGalley free of charge. I was under no obligation to offer a positive review. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
