This is my 5th book by this author and it was my favorite! *Sigh* I loved the main characters. And can we talk about the cover? L💕ve it!

I was hooked right away and smiled constantly watching the interaction between these too. Lots of chemistry between them and of course the HEA that I have to have.

A great historical romance in my opinion with some angst and lots of adventure.

This was a NETGALLEY gift and all opinions are my own.

Samuel Thatcher, whom we met briefly in The Innkeeper’s Daughter is one of the main characters in this one, along with Abigail Gilbert is another one. Abigail is on her way to get married, though her father and stepmother only sent a maid and driver with her. Trouble finds them along the highway and Captain Thatcher happens upon them in time to save them. His plans to deliver them to an inn and be free of them changes when something unexpected is dropped in his lap. With Abigail needing a guard and a notorious highwayman still needing captured, Captain Thatcher is convinced to provide her needed guard. Page turning story with twists and turns throughout the adventure. Characters that can be related to, even the ones we don’t care for and a moving story keep the pages turning and the book hard to put down. Fitting conclusion to the Bow Street Runners series.

This is definitely Michelle Griep’s most exciting work to date! A true Regency road-trip adventure in the first 2/3 of the story, it’s also an emotional roller coaster in the last 1/3. Great care is given not to make our heroes too naive or too much a martyr, and the romantic relationship (for there are many different examples of love and relationships here) unfolds at just the right pace. I was absolutely riveted and read it in one sitting.

I received a copy of this book from the publisher through NetGalley. All opinions are my own.

The Noble Guardian
By: Michelle Griep
What a fun adventure it was to read, The Noble Guardian. With themes of self-love, Gods love for us, and seeing past perceptions I not only enjoyed the read but was inspired. The characters were required to offer God control of their situations bringing thought to the struggles around letting God be God. There is fear in not knowing the future and what will happen. I really enjoyed this read and think if you enjoy Christian historical romance this will take you on a grand quest of love.
Here are some of my highlighted quotes from this book:
“Past hurts often lose their sting when shared with others.”
“Lord, I confess I am anxious and fretting and altogether not trusting in Your great providence. It is not You who are in my debt, but I in Yours… for everything You give. If this be putrid throat, then I will trust You for the best outcome, whatever that may be, for I can do no more. But even so, Lord, I pray You would grant healing for little Emma and for me.”

The Noble Guardian serves well as a standalone, it isn’t lacking, whether you’ve read the previous books in the trilogy or not.

First, I have to mention this stunning cover art. I’m not usually attracted to books with male leads on the cover (sorry, not sorry) but this particular one, along with the intriguing title, is definitely attention-grabbing.

Now, on to the hero. Oh. My. I adore Captain Samuel Thatcher. I love how the further I read the more I see behind his stony, brooding persona. The author takes her time to reveal his compassionate heart and soul, and I enjoy every moment of it. As of right now, he is my favorite male lead of 2019!

Abigail (Abby) Gilbert is more transparent and less complicated—yet it takes a little longer to connect to her. As she grows sturdier and more mature, my affections also grow. So much progression throughout the story. Her positive attitude and stubbornness are refreshing and entertaining.

As for the secondary characters, I’m impressed with how well developed they are, and how essential they are to the fullness of this story—the good guys and bad guys alike.

I adore the story arc, the spiritual vein, and the rich characters. I’ve enjoyed anything I’ve read by Michelle, Griep, for she is a very talented storyteller, but The Noble Guardian is most certainly my favorite!

I truly enjoyed the characters, the story line and the historical setting for this book. Michelle Griep has a beautiful way of blending the faults, pain, past challenges and struggles of the characters together with faith, love and hope for the future. I also always learn new tidbits from history that keep me thinking long after the books ends. I highly recommend this book!

This was an amazing story! It grabbed me from the beginning and wouldn't let go. It still continues to haunt me even after several weeks. I love the characters and their tenacity to go after what they want. Abby has been pushed aside for most of her life in a home where the step-mother and children don't like her. Her father ignores her. When Abby gets the chance to leave she grabs hold. She continues on her journey to her fiance even in the midst of danger. Captain Samuel is just finishing out his contract so he can have a peaceful life that is without going after the bad guys. The way that Captain can't seem to let Abby go on her own is endearing. Abby can't let Captain leave with a toddler in tow when she needs to get to her fiance. The two help each other out while their feelings for each other grow. The chemistry between the couple blooms throughout the story. This book is full of adventure and romance. It is also full of characters that need to find their new identities. I highly recommend this book to anyone that loves romance and adventure.

Samuel Thatcher would make any woman's heart thunder and her pulse race! Not only for his dark good looks, but for the heart of a hero that beats beneath a brooding facade. Too many years of being a Bow Street runner has jaded his opinion of people and convention be hanged, he won't allow a slip of a girl make him soft. Abigail Gilbert is his perfect opposite, not backing down when he scowls (or growls) at her. These two are fun to watch! And there's plenty of action and danger around the corner to keep your heart rate up. Simply put, there's seriously nothing I don't like about this story. I always know I'm in for a treat with a Michelle Griep book.

The Noble Guardian is the final installment from Michelle Griep’s Bow Street Runners Trilogy. It set during the Regency era in England. It tells the story of Abigail Gilbert seeks to get away from her family and does anything to search for love. She leaves home to go on an adventure through the country and plans to marry. Only, those plans take a dramatic twist when she finds herself in danger. Thankfully, she was rescued by Captain Samuel Thatcher. This encounter throws off both of their life plans.
The Noble Guardian is by far my favorite of Miss Griep’s books. I enjoyed Abigail and Samuel’s interactions with one another. The chemistry was so evident between them. The mystery and suspense made it fast paced easy to turn the pages. I intended to read just one chapter and wound up reading the whole book in one sitting.
I give The Noble Guardian well deserved five plus stars. Fabulous conclusion to the Bow Street Runners Trilogy.
I received this book from the publisher. This review is 100% my own honest opinion.

As always with a book by Michelle Griep, this was wonderful. The conclusion to The Bow Street Runners series was as fantastic as the previous books. Abby and Samuel were wonderful characters with wonderful growth throughout the book, both together and as individuals. Hope and faith were an important thread in the book but certainly not off=putting if that's not someone else's cup of tea. It was great getting updates on the previous characters from the series too! A fantastic read!

The Noble Guardian is Michelle Griep's newest book. It is the latest installment in her Bow Street Runners trilogy. Each book is a stand alone novel with mention of characters from past books.
I love Michelle's writing style. She brings her stories to life with well researched facts with a touch of humor. She does an excellent job of weaving romance and suspense together with an element of faith. Michelle is definitely one of my favorite authors in the Historical Fiction genre.

I had 3 favorite authors before I read this book; I now have 4. An absolutely charming historical romance packed with suspense and finite details of 1800s England.

Abigail is fleeing a loveless home, being pushed onto the first suitor that offered her father his hand. Her journey to meet the baronet that will soon be her husband is thwarted at every turn by dangers and heartaches of the harsh realities of 1800s England. Samuel Thatcher has counted the days when he can leave his service as a magistrate, battling brutal highwaymen that leave a wake of death and agony in their path on the heath. Circumstance drops Abigail and a favor to a friend that he cannot refuse in the pathway to his dreams, ensuring his nightmare is not yet over. Michelle Griep tests each of her characters time and again making for an eye-opening emotional journey from start to finish.

The Noble Guardian is comparable to a PG version of Johanna Lindsay’s historical romances spliced with Les Miserables, and Gaskell’s North and South. Classed a Christian Romance, there’s no need as the religious undertones are merely true to the time and only bolster the fact that Ms. Griep is a master of time-warping a reader to another era. The time-relevant dialogue is transfixing and Griep paints a picture around every corner that puts you in the heart of early 19th century England, riding a carriage, and eating kidney pie. I can’t say enough wonderful things about this story – the pacing, description, plot, historical accuracy, the character evolution, the drama and suspense – it was an honor to read it. Beautiful – an adventure of misery and compassion on the open-roads of historical England.

Thank you to Barbour Publishing and NetGalley for providing me with this early reviewer copy.

The Noble Guardian is a exceptional book with wonderful characters. Captain Thatcher is your dreamy and rugged guardian, Abby is short tempered and determined to be loved. On their journey to Brakewell Hall many obstacles come into play that help each character grow .
Michelle Griep does a wonderful job of drawing the reader into the story and opening our hearts to the troubles and sorrow some of the characters have to endure. There is action, romance and suspense all the makings of a story that keeps you holding your breath until the last page. Storytelling at its finest!
Was given a complimentary copy. All. opinions are my own.

If you are looking for historical Christian fiction brimming with the characterization of a taciturn, valiant hero and a lively, generous heroine, while courting danger around every bend and the demonstration of courage in the face of disappointments, Michelle Griep's The Noble Guardian has it all! Adventure. History. Romance. The third in The Bow Street Runners series, it's easy to read as a standalone.

Two bruised individuals, an adorable cherub of a child, and well-shaped secondary characters shine. At 32o pages in the paperback format, it's not a short book, but it's quite the tale of longing, revenge, and as mentioned previously, danger (almost ridiculous amounts of danger, to be honest. I mean it's fiction, but life just kept throwing one curveball after another - which of course they handled with fortitude and style.) They faced seemingly insurmountable hurdles while trying to navigate their futures and escape the wounds of their pasts while racing cross-country through Regency England.

The story was liberally sprinkled with references to faith and the characters' development of conviction and hope. As they lean on each other, they each find safety - both physically and emotionally - as they become the family they've always needed.

I truly enjoyed this spin on my go-to genre and would recommend it to anyone who enjoys a heartwarming historical tale of hope and redemption.

•°o•:*:•. Highwaymen, Coaching Inns, Peril & Romance .•:*:• o°•

Southampton, England, 1815
Abigail Gilbert is an outsider in her own home. Her family has managed to marry her off to a prestigious baronet she met once at a dance, which will boost their own names in society, practically shoving her out the door into a carriage headed for Penrith with only a ladies maid to aid her on the difficult journey. They make plans to go abroad before she is actually even wed. But not without one final slap from her always angry stepmother.

But, she looks to the future with Sir Jonathan Aberley and her chance for love and belonging at long last, despite the arduous journey ahead of her.

31-year-old Captain Samuel Thatcher patrols the highways of the rugged heath. “Shankhart Robbins was out there, all right. Somewhere. And worse –he’d be back. Evil always had a way of returning bigger and blacker than before, singeing any soul it touched.”
May I just say, Shankhart- what a villainous name!

Samuel is forced to help Abagail when her carriage is accosted and see her safely to Sir Jonathan, who is not at all what was expected. The dangers and surprises abound which make for a most enjoyable read for lovers of mystery and historical romance.

Spiritual Moment: “She pushed the last hairpin into place then bowed her head. She’d learned long ago while enduring the hurts of her stepmother that only through prayer would she find peace.”

Tea Moment(s): “The servant appeared with a thick slice of pastry and a steaming pot of bohea.”
That was a new one for me, so in looking it up I found “a black China tea that comes from the last crop of the season and is typically regarded as of low quality. Early 18th century named after the Bu-yi (Wuyi) hills in China, from where black tea first came to Britain”.
“The woman wasn’t old, but neither was she young. Rather, she was timeless, her apron holding in an eternity of love and life and laughter. She was the kind of woman with whom you could share a pot of tea and your deepest secrets.”

Abigail Gilbert leaves her childhood home anxious to find a new life that she hopes will be full of love with Sir Jonathan, her betrothed. Since her father remarried, she has felt like a stranger in her own home, and she is anxious to become queen of her home and be married to Sir Jonathan.

Abigail and her maid leave on the cross-country journey to travel to her betrothed with only a driver, and no footman, coachman, or a hired guard traveling on a stretch of country where highwaymen frequent. It is there that she meets up with Captain Samuel Thatcher, a Bow Street Runner. She needs protection and Captain Thatcher needs cash. Captain Thatcher is nearing retirement, and all he wants is to be able to buy a piece of land and retire, but he is short of cash.

Michelle Griep is a new author to me, and this story captivated my heart – so did little Emma. She wrote a lovely tale of love, and I enjoyed the slow dance of two wounded souls coming together. The Noble Gentleman is filled with adventure, and I felt like I was in a Western novel, but it was in Regency England, and I loved it! I want to add that I just loved Captain Thatcher – he was a true nobleman!

I am looking forward to reading other novels of Michelle Griep.

I really enjoyed this book. I have read only one of the previous books in this series, so in the beginning I felt a bit lost, but I was able to pick up quickly. I did enjoy the book, though I will say it took some work for me to get into it. Probably since I was lost a bit. I enjoyed the characters and the book seemed well researched, which I have come to expect from this author. I loved the suspense that this author is able to build in the novel. I had a hard time not peaking to make sure things ended up "right"!

'Staring at death was nothing new. It was a way of life. A companion Samuel frequently clasped hands with.'

At last! Michelle Griep gives us Samuel Thatcher's story in her Bow Street Runners trilogy. When I first met this man in previous books, I knew he had a story to tell and knew it would be a good one. I was wrong. It was a great one. When I saw the cover some time back, that feeling was simply reinforced.

Abigail Gilbert has been betrothed to a baronet, but must travel a long journey to his ancestral home to marry him. She is more than ready to leave a family who has no use for her. A family that can't even be bothered to give her a manservant to travel with her on a dangerous journey. And danger does indeed come, in the form of highwaymen.

Captain Samuel Thatcher arrives just in time to save Abby from said highwaymen. He despises his job and is hoping to retire and buy land and become a farmer, far away from crime and death. Abby asks him to escort her on her journey and he agrees only when she offers him a great deal of money. He can buy his property and retire from pursuing criminals. However, one of those criminals, the most vicious sort, is after him and nothing will stop this man from seeing Thatcher die. But Samuel has promised to keep Abby safe and he intends to keep that promise. He will be tested down to his last nerve in doing so, though.

Michelle Griep is a huge favorite of mine. Her books just get devoured here. When I open one and begin to read, I lose track of time and everything around me until I finish it. But … I want to race toward the end and I also want to slow down and savor every moment. So....I end up rereading many passages again and again, highlighting and writing in the margins. Griep manages somehow to capture each character in so much detail that they feel as if you're riding along in the coach with them in the storms, battling the highwaymen and feeling every emotion in their hearts. And her spiritual themes are what some might call simple and direct, but they are very, very profound. I loved every moment of it and now I wish I could read it all over again. Samuel Thatcher is the epitome of a noble guardian and a mighty fine hero! Highly recommended.

Thank you to NetGalley for letting me review this book. I loved this book. It was an Exciting story from beginning to end! On a journey that should have taken a couple of weeks, it takes about a month due to sickness, storms, and rogue highwaymen. I had a hard time putting it down. Clean but thrilling! Very exciting tale! Loved it!

The Noble Guardian by Michelle Griep is the third book in her Bow Street Runners series. Abby Gilbert must journey across England to marry the wealthy gentleman of her dreams. After highwaymen upset her plans, she hires Captain Samuel Thatcher of the Bow Street Runners, to escort her the rest of the way. With the money Abby promises him once the journey is complete, Samuel will be able to purchase some land and retire. This story has it all, romance, danger, thieves, and scoundrels. At times the romance was a little too graphic for my taste, but other than that I really enjoyed the story. I liked how the author reminded us that God is always there. All we have to do is rest in Him.
