Rush Kaplan is filled with a bottomless pit of darkness, which he is desperately trying to avoid falling into. The only way he manages is to fill his life is with drugs and meaningless encounters which leads him to the Doc’s back door. She manages to patch him up but in the process forges a connection with him which makes him see a light at the end of the tunnel. Intense and gripping story, looking forward to the next one. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
This was first book by Faye, and it was enjoyable quick read. Am looking forward to checking out more of her books.
Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher, I am voluntarily providing my honest review.
A fast paced HOT read! Of course it’s going to be explicit, it’s an erotica novel! Some of the previous reviews just baffled me! A great start to a series and a new author to me. Rush is a troubled soul and finds the right person to help him on his journey. Faye is somewhat of a saint. She is a recent graduate of Veterinarian school that’s not in her profession for the money by any means. When you put these two together it’s hot and electrifying! Couldn’t put it down until the last page! Can’t wait for the next in the series!
Adult erotica for sure. The character of Rush certainly painted a picture of sexiness. Alyssa was a strong woman. Although there was not as as erotica as one would expect, it was a quick, out of the box love story with a happy, predictable ending.
This book opened with explicit situation straightly. Vivid description of sexual act and explicit language makes this book suitable for adult.
The plot itself tell us a story about a golden boy gone bad then good at the end of the story. It's a cliche actually. I really like the female character, she is sassy and know what she wants.
Overall, the book is crunchy and I recommend it for adult who doesn't mind to read explicit scene.
A new to me author that I'll be checking out more books by. Rush by Faye Byrd book one in the Men of Rapture series. Great storyline, dialogue and characters. A spicy storyline. I look forward to reading more in this series and by this author.
Rush, trust-fund with addiction problems, meet Alyssa, veterinarian who cares.
I wasn't keen on the first few chapters, Rush acted out of line time and time again, for no reason. I felt like Alyssa deserved better, but I wanted to see how it continued. And wow, I was impressed. I couldn't put the book down!
It was nice and refreshing to watch the relationship grow and progress and while I wish it was longer, I'm definitely looking forward to more books in this series.
This was a quick read and I wanted to love it, but it wasn't quite there yet. The story idea was good, but as it went on, some of it just didn't make sense and seemed a little far-fetched. For example, a doctor (even though she's a vet) being minimally concerned and basically leaving someone to fend for himself after being seriously injured. Some of Rush's actions also had me wondering why? Usually I can overlook some character flaws, but these were just a bit too prominent for me.
This book was more in a Helen Hoang style of Erotica. It had more of romance, plot and storyline than Erotica.
Since Rush has a cliched storyline, its highly doubtful anyone might be interested.
Alyssa is interesting enough but that's not enough for the plot.
Everyone overcoming their fears is nice if you don't want decent plot twists or new storyline .
I thank Netgalley for giving me an opportunity to review this e- ARC
I think I devoured this in about 3 hours! So hott, fast paced and electrifying. Everything you need for a quick fix. The story had me hooked from the beginning to end. I'd definitely purchase the other books in the series. Thanks for the opportunity to read this gem.
Rush is a troubled soul, searching for constant escapism from his troubled past. He dose this by drinking to excess, taking any type of drugs offered to him and has meaningless sexual encounters with any woman offering herself to him. Just to get those few moments of oblivion these highs give him.
When he’s at one of his lowest points, he breaks in to a veterinarian surgery, to find drugs and to tender his wounds after being jumped in an ally. Once he breaks in to the veterinary surgery he is unable to stop himself from passing out.
In walk Alyssa Cole, who owns the surgery. She’s gone in early to check on a sick pup but discovers an unconscious man covered in blood and passed out on her surgery floor. When she goes to take a closer look at him, she realises it the same man she saw a few days ago in the ally having sex.
Intrigued Alyssa decides to help Rush. Who uses sexual innuendos and outlandish behaviour to hide his true self. Alyssa is a smart sassy woman who wont stand any of his antics and puts him in his place, even though the sparks between them are just out of control.
This book is hot and sexy, just like its cover. Its got everything in it that makes a good hot sexy romance book with a good background story and with just enough erotica not to scare off people who don’t like the full blown erotica type of book. It’s definitely well worth the read, I couldn’t put it down. It’s the first book in the ‘Men of Rapture’ series and I really cant wait to read the rest.
Good storyline. On the surface these two have everything but it doesn’t take much to realize that their lives are far from happy and much more complex than apparent. Lessons — we all make mistakes. Each person deals with grief, dissatisfaction, failure in his or her own way. Life is about recognizing and accepting second chances. Glad I took a chance and read this book. Will recommend to friends.
I received a copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
A good read for this genre
The characters where what you would expect with rich boy gone off the rails and good girl comes along and sorts him out.
Enough erotica to entice
This was a really good book. I wasn’t sure because of his drug addiction but I loved how he fixed himself because of her. I recommend this book!
I tussled with how to review this book as I don’t normally review a book if I don’t think it is worth 3 stars. But as I kindly received this from netgalley so I will just say Rush wasn’t for me.
2 stars for "It was OK"
At the end he "disappears" for some weird plan I guess, but the plan is never explained, and you're told to wait until the end of the book. Honestly, I feel like I was more interested in the side characters than the main couple.
Will I continue the series? There's a chance.
I liked this story. On the surface, Rush is not a likable character. He uses people and he uses Alyssa for a good majority of this book. Do the things he needs from her evolve over time - absolutely. But even as he cares for her more and more and claims to want to change he still makes selfish decisions. I found him sooooo frustrating at times and yet I could still have sympathy for his situation and truly rooted for him to get his s**t together. Alyssa was sort of a mystery to me. We don’t get much info about her and she had the patience of a saint. I would’ve liked to have seen her stand up for herself more.
While there were issues (looking at you rushed ending) I really enjoyed this. Rush and Alyssa did not lack chemistry and they earned their HEA. I’m interested in the next books in the series, particularly Niko’s.
At first, I must admit I hated Rush so much I stopped reading, but then later I thought I would give him a chance. And damn it killed me. I loved how Alyssa had the perfect answer to shut him up and how he was cocky with her, but hated so much when he pushed her away from him. I would totally recommend this book
Mixed on this I did enjoy it a bit, but although I get the lead is a man with a troubled past the multiple partners even when he claims she’s important to him just didn’t sit right, yeah he cleans up well at the end but there was nothing appealing about rush and that’s where it falls way short, bad boys need to be likeable and charismatic or they’re just creepy
