What the heck. This book was so crazy. For a debut I thought it was an interesting idea. Thank you NetGaley.

This book was great! It had such a great concept and a good story line. Wills character was a fantastic portrayal of morbid curiosity.
Overall a good read with a gripping storyline.
Some areas of this book I did find myself skim reading as there was alot that didn't need to be said.

The plot of this book just took far too long to get going. By the time it started taking off, I didn't care about the characters that much, and certainly wasn't very concerned about their outcome. Adeline is the only character with any redeeming qualities, and even she started to irritate me by the end.
Might be good for someone who hasn't read many thrillers, But I read this genre almost exclusively, so it"s hard not to compare it to some of the masters. This book just doesn't measure up in this stacked category.

So a bunch of young people (kids, really) come up with a dare based game that resurfaces with much more dire implications at their reunion almost two decades later. Sounds familiar at all? If so, it may be because that’s a lot like the plot of Christopher Yates’ Black Chalk, a superlative thriller and infinitely superior to this one. To be fair, I’m not calling this book a rip off, it does enough of its own thing to be considered an original, just saying that if you want to read a thriller with a similar story, go for Yates. This one was decent enough, but never really got above that, too many detractors. And now for the list of detractors…#1, potentially the main thing, the book is dramatically overwritten, nothing about it should merit more than, say, 300 pages, not the 400some it comes in at, #2, of equal or potentially higher significance, not a single likeable or especially interesting character. #3, a huge no no for a thriller, only one major plot twist and one you can easily figure out miles in advance. The writing is actually pretty good, but you end up following around a bunch of characters you don’t really care about (although the main one does have an absolutely awesome job of doing a podcast about movies) for much too long down to its inevitable and predictable conclusion…that just is way too far from optimal for the genre that should be, well that should be thrilling. The novel, possibly due to its being a debut, meanders exhaustively and exhaustingly from past to present from perspective to perspective, but in the end fails to engage, albeit manages to entertain, somewhat. Something of a frustrating experience, for some reason I expected more. The original concept actually does hook you…the notion that one of your childhood friends can turn out to be a serial killer and it may be down to you eventually to track him down. But the execution left a lot to be desired. Thanks Netgalley.

Thank you Netgalley for the opportunity to preview The Killer You Know by SR Masters.
A group of friends decide to reunite after many years apart. They were close once and they all had hopes and dreams. As teenagers, one of them reveals that he would one day become a serial killer, and then he would return to his "normal" life.
Christmas eve in 2016 is the date of the reunion, but one young man doesn't show. The group then remembers that fateful day he told them he would kill three people. Could this be true? But they start to look into recent deaths, and they find that their friend just might be what he wanted to be when he grew up..
Good read, a bit slow and lots of details. If you like the UK mystery books, this one will satisfy you.
2.5 stars.

I loved the first and last thirds of this book. The middle was a bit slow. But the plot was intriguing, and I enjoyed the flashback chapters.

This book was so much more than I expected. It sounds like your typical thriller but it's so much more than that. As I read, I couldn't help make comparisons to coming of age movies like Stand by Me and Goonies. Like those, this story revolves around a group of friends who spend a few teenage summers together before moving on in life. Endless days of sitting around watching movies and exploring out in the fields., creating their own games and adventures to pass the time.

The setting moves back and forth between the past and present, and between the different characters as well so you get many points of view. The friends are meeting up for a reunion about 17 years after their last summer together and when one, Will, does not show up, they all remember some of his final words about what he would be doing in life - becoming a serial killer by murdering 3 people in distinctive ways so that the friends would know it was him. They spend their time back together reliving their old times and searching for their missing friend who just might have done as he foretold.

It really feels like a saga as you read, it's a very detailed story with strong character development and scenarios you can picture playing out in front of your eyes. It would make a great movie especially with the twists throughout that keep you guessing just when you think you've got it all figured out. I definitely recommend this one!

Not a bad book but very slow to start.

Well, this certainly was an interesting story. This book was full of twists and turns that you never knew what to expect. Once you get going with this storyline this book is guaranteed to keep you gripped to every page.

A decent read with a good storyline. I instantly fell in love with the characters and really enjoyed reading their journey. Once you get into the storyline it is very immersive.

Fabulous work
