Lovely, feel good romantic read. A little similar to another book I’ve recently read, but that didn’t detract from the excellent writing and believable characters.

Do you enjoy seasonal romances in which the right people end up together but it takes them a little while to do so?   Have you enjoyed books by Shari Low or Josie Silver?  If yes, or you would just like to relax with a nice read and a cup of hot chocolate, give this one a try.

The novel is about four friends who share a flat in London and those around them.  One of the roommates is Jess who is thrilled to have gotten a job in London.  Another is Alex who left a career in law for what he knows is a more meaningful nursing degree.  They are surrounded by friends, family and relationships.  The story mostly is about them in sections that are told by each.  The other housemates include Becky who owns the house and is a lawyer, Emma who is a friend with benefits, and Rob a chef.  London also feels like a character in the novel with descriptions of many places and neighborhoods.

This is not a deep novel but it is an easy and satisfying read.  Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this title in exchange for an honest review.

I LOVED THIS BOOK.

Jess might be one of my favourite protagonists of ALL TIME. Her experience of moving to a new city to live life on her own terms was so relatable to me, and from her interest in books and publishing, right down to her love of Richard Curtis movies, I could relate to her. I so badly wanted everything to turn out alright for her in the end. The book was so lovely and English - I could picture London from Alex and Jess’ descriptions perfectly, and it made me want to book a trip there immediately.

Speaking of Alex... oh my goodness. Aside from the fact that he was ruggedly handsome, he was such a kind and compassionate character! I loved the message that it is never too late to tackle a career/life change. His experience as a student nurse was eye opening and made him such an endearing character.

I couldn’t have enjoyed this more! The dynamic of a house share with young adults is so often missed from literature, so I couldn’t have been more pleased with this storyline and the characters it followed. I want more Jess and Alex!

I just finished this little gem. I don't normally like romance, but this lovely novel (set in London, making it even more appealing for Anglophiles like me) is a cozy, quick read that's sure to please. Highly recommended!

Although the main characters, Jess and Alex meet in December, their story spans over a whole year. And although you can see that there might be something really special between them since that first meeting, it takes them a while to get there, which at the beginning had me a bit frustrated but as the story progressed and we got to know more about them, their backgrounds, their motivations and their dreams, I became really engrossed in their story and I enjoyed the story a lot. I was 100% rooting for them and I loved rediscovering London, one of my favorite cities in the world, through their eyes.

This story really warmed my heart, not only because it had a love story as its core, but also because it talked about finding your place in the world, accepting who you are and how hard it is to be an adult!

I really really liked this. It reminded quite a bit of Josie Silver's book, which I also loved. I really liked the characters and appreciated that she didn't make Emma out to be a horrible human. It was a sweet, enjoyable read. Will definitely recommend.

I thought this book was just okay.. We Met In December follows Jess and Alex for a year. They are both starting over with new jobs and renting rooms in the same house.

This did feel reminiscent to others I have read and not extremely original - similar to One Day and One Day In December.

Jess, a 29 year old who just recently moved to London, is following her dream of working in a publishing company. It’s December and she’s moving into her friend Beths house with 3 other people who she doesn’t know. Beth, hosts a Christmas dinner to get to know each other and Jess instantly feels an attraction to Alex, a guy who is sharing the room right next to hers. Unfortunately, Beth, her friend and landlord, has a rule about no current residents dating, it can get messy.

Jess can’t stop thinking about Alex. She leaves for a 2 week vacation with her best friends Sophie and Gen to celebrate Christmas and the new year. When she gets back, Alex is seeing someone else.....who also happens to be another roommate of theirs.


I absolutely loved the friendship and slow burn romance of Alex and Jess. I loved how the author built up a friendship between the characters in the house share as well. We actually get to know the background characters like Emma, Ron and Becky.

I think the ending was a little rushed and would have preferred more angst between the characters but overall, it was a good book however, it’s not a festive Christmas story, not that it’s a negative, but don’t go into this book expecting a “holiday read". it actually takes place over the course of a year, not christmas

This is a very cute and cosy read. The descriptions of London at Christmastime at the beginning of this book are gorgeously festive and really transport you to the streets of the British capital.

That said, I did struggle with this book. I love multiple narrative books, but this one didn't really work for me. The two narrative voices felt rather too similar, especially as they both had similar situations in their lives.

The story dragged for me a little at times, and I felt there were long passages where nothing was really happening to drive the story forward.

Despite what the title may suggest, this is not a Christmas tale. It begins in December, and then becomes a Year in the Life story. Sort of like One Day meets The Flatshare.

What an adorable Christmas romance. This isn't a cookie-cutter Hallmark movie. It's fantastic and unique! Loved it.

This was a cute enough book but it felt a little anticlimactic and like it lacked something special. I did enjoy the cast of characters and the happy ending though.

Such a lovely romantic story. I was utterly hooked and loved every page. I loved the main relationship in the story and have a special soft spot for Nanna Beth.

A cute and light-hearted chick lit about Jess pressing the reset button on her life down in Bournemouth and taking the plunge to follow her passion by moving to London and starting afresh in the publishing industry. Jess moves in to a house share with four other people in Notting Hill, where she meets Alex, a nurse in training after pressing the reset button on his life as well by giving up a comfortable finance position to follow his passion. These two have a connection off the bat but due to rules, missed opportunities and misconceptions their feelings for each other are kept from another.

The book follows from the perspective of Jess starting her life in London, adjusting to the fast-paced lifestyle of the city, settling in to her new job and discovering what she truly wants out of life. It also follows from the perspective of Alex who is healing from a break-up and adjusting to the pace of his new career path whilst figuring out what type of relationship person he is.

This book is adorable and sweet and I absolutely love Alex and Jess and really enjoyed Jess' relationship with her grandmother as well. The book has a great hallmark feel to it yet I would have preferred a little more angst and romance. The book was more about Alex and Jess pining for each other whilst building a solid friendship and figuring out their lives rather than romancing each other.

This is a sweet slow burning romance with a modern feel. Many chick lits have for their backdrops the premise of moving away from a city and into the gentler less harried and hurried world of the countryside. This book is a reversal.of that, and reading it almost made me feel like a student again, with house shares and crazy schedules and impromptu drinking sessions. But the romance is there in spades and the underlying message is to follow your heart.

This was a cute, boy meets girl, girl meets boy but never tells each other how they feel. It's a quick easy read, great to get started in that holiday mode. There were a couple fun parts in this book. A regular rom com type novel, nothing overly serious.

I really wanted to love this one! Unfortunately I couldn't get into it and it definitely was a drag at times. I love a good UK book but this one just didn't do it for me. I think I went in with the wrong expectations that it would be a holiday rom com but it was a lot darker than that.

An absolutely divine read. Cosy, heartwarming and funny. With characters that make you laugh, cry and want to bang their heads together! You invest in these people. The perfect book to curl up with. I devoured this in less than 24 hours! Beautifully written and the true definition of a fabulous book. Must read!
