Where was Jesus in the Old Testament, you ask? "Everywhere!" is the short answer!
When I flipped open this devotional, I felt such joy to see that, yes indeed, we can see Jesus in every book of the Bible! I failed to go through the whole Bible recently, maybe because I was bored? But this devotional puts things in a whole different light and I can't wait to read the Old Testament again!
Thank you Waterbrook and Multnomah for the review copy. I can't tell you how grateful I am. And this is my honest opinion.
Jesus, Day by Day is a highly enjoyable devotional that focuses on revealing God throughout the Bible. The author does a beautiful job of focusing the reader's attention to God while showing God's greatest display of love through Jesus. The 365 days devotional is a great tool to establish structure and accountability for daily Bible reading that will help the reader grow in His word.
Jesus, Day by Day, is a 365-day devotional which includes a one-year plan to read through the entire Bible. Each day the devotional begins with a Scripture reading, a highlighted verse from that passage, and words of wisdom based on that day’s reading.
About the Book: This unique 365-day devotional infuses your daily Bible reading with deeper meaning, helping you develop the habit of looking for signs of Jesus woven throughout Scripture while meditating on the Bible with a chronological one-year reading plan.
Jesus is the very essence of the Scriptures. The Old Testament points to Him and the New Testament reveals Him. If we look for Him, we will find Him on every page and in every story. When reading through the lens of Jesus, we find purpose in the Old Testament sacrifices; pictures of our Savior in the rejection and heartache of Joseph; a future hope pointing directly to Christ in the sweet love story of Ruth and Boaz; and meaning to even the deepest sorrows in Job.
This daily devotional will help you learn to recognize Jesus written on every page of God's story. Come along on a journey that will...
• guide you in reading the entire Bible, chronologically, in one year
• help you see connections to Jesus throughout the Old Testament
• deepen your understanding of the themes of Scripture
• inspire you with 365 daily devotions to strengthen your love for Jesus and intensify your appreciation for God's Word
Jesus, Day by Day will bring renewed life to your devotional time as you learn to recognize God's plan of love, mercy, and grace woven through every page of Scripture.
My Thoughts: This is a great encouragement to keep in God's word every day. By reading the scriptures; two chapters a day and then reading the devotional that helps to explain what the reader has read. It's easy and informative and will get the reader through the Bible in a year.
This will certainly be helpful to keep the reader on a Bible reading schedule. The readings are easy to read and informative. It is helpful that the readings are in chronological order, it gives an idea of the timeline of the Bible. This is a wonderful and unique way to read through the Bible in a year!

I enjoyed reading the Bible in the order that things occurred. This devotional zeroes in on Jesus and helps see Him in every section of the Bible. Even though I have read through the Bible multiple times this delightful look opened up my eyes to things I have missed.
The devotions are easy to read and understand. They left me feeling enlightened and inspired. I was read to dig into my Bible for more. I loved this book!
I highly recommend this book. It would be the perfect Christmas gift for anyone! A group wanting to read the Bible in a year should get this. Church libraries should keep it, but I don’t know how checking out an annual plan book would be. I rated it 5 out of 5 stars. A copy was provided by the publisher but this is my honest opinion

This book is a companion to The One Year Chronological Bible. Sharon Kaselonis's daily devotions explain to the reader how all of the Bible focuses on Jesus. The Old Testament points to Him and the New Testament reveals Him. Through these devotions I have seen Jesus in places I never saw Him before. This is helping me to be more consistent in my effort to read The Chronological Bible in one year. I have read the Bible in its usual order through several times, but reading it in the order in which events occurred has been an enlightening and educational experience thus far, made more so by the insight shared in these daily devotionals.
I highly recommend Jesus, Day By Day, and am glad to have received a copy from Multnomah in exchange for my honest opinion. I was under no obligation to provide a positive review and received no monetary compensation, all opinions stated are my own. #PRHpartner
I have been wanting to find a devotional to help me better understand the Bible. I think this book will definitely help me do that. I have only used it for a little over a week and it has helped so much! I like that it goes through the Bible in the order that it happened. I will be continuing reading my way through it!
I received a complimentary copy from the publisher. I was not required to write a positive review. All opinions expressed are mine alone.
Jesus lives throughout the Bible although we, as Christians, often think primarily of the New Testament. In this devotional, Kaselonis shows in 365 devotions how Jesus appears in both the Old and New Testaments. There are many passages in the Old Testament where the text points to Jesus. Reading the passages in the order of the books of the Bible shows how the texts point to the Jesus of the New Testament.
If you’re looking for a devotional that leads you through the Bible in a year, this is an excellent choice. The devotional moves through the Bible day by day. Each page contains a verse of scripture at the top and a discussion. There is also a note from the author at the end of each day that brings the reading a personal, uplifting note.
The devotional is one of the best I’ve found for reading through the Bible in a year. I like the focus on Jesus. I found him in more places than I realized in the Old Testament. I highly recommend this book. It will give your Bible study a new focus for the year.
I received this book from Waterbrook Multnomah for this review.
Jesus, Day by Day, by Sharon Kaselonis, is a 365-day devotional which includes a one-year plan to read through the entire Bible. The daily devotions in this book are longer than many on the market today, having much more depth than a short paragraph or two can give.
My favorite thing about this unique devotional is that, through the Old Testament readings, Jesus, Day by Day points to the presence of Jesus in the Old Testament, and then solidifies His promises in the New Testament. It teaches us to look for Jesus revealed not only in the words of the prophets, but in other places throughout the Old Testament Scripture. Each day through almost the end of September starts with a Scripture from the Old Testament, followed by a not-too-short devotional reading which lists several New Testament verses to back up the point of the day.
I enjoyed how, once the calendar arrives at the New Testament readings, many of the daily Scriptures are a combination of the four Gospels. Reading them side-by-side is a great way to study the life of Jesus.
I give this book 5-stars. It's a great devotional with a lot of depth. Jesus, Day by Day would make a great Christmas gift, as many readers are looking for a new devotional at the start of the new year. One could just read the daily devotion in the morning, and then read the full reading plan later in the day, or just use the book as a devotional and stick to your own Bible-reading plan. Either way, this book is a winner.
The publishing date for Jesus, Day by Day is September 17, with pre-order available now.
This daily devotional takes you through the entire Bible in the course of one year. Admittedly, I have not read the entire book yet, but after doing the readings for several of the weeks chosen at random, I believe I can fairly assess the essence of the book.
The commentary Kaselonis provides with each day's scripture readings is both joyful and uplifting! I enjoy how she ties Old Testament scripture with New Testament scripture, which gives me a more complete or new perspective on the readings. At the end of each day's reading, I find myself hungry for more! I look forward to reading through the Bible using this inspiring devotional as my guide.
This would make an excellent gift for those who enjoy devotionals, and/or those looking for the best way to read through the Bible (this one is in chronological order).
Many thanks to NetGalley and Multnomah for allowing me to read a copy of this lovely devotional in exchange for an unbiased review. All opinions stated are my own.
This is a year long devotional. I have enjoyed reading each devotional each morning so far. I enjoyed each bible scrpictures that is in this devotional.
Thank you NetGalley and WaterBrook and Multhmah Publishing. I have read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
This is a very in depth devotional Each day starts with a Bible reading, then there is a devotion that shows how the Old Testament and the New Testament .are both pointing to Jesus. I just did a quick read through in order to write this review, now I'm ready to go back at do it one day at a time. I highly recommend this book to add to your daily bible reading plan. I plan to buy a hard copy of this book when it is available, it would just be easier for me instead of an e-book version. Thank you WaterBrook & Multnomah via NetGalley for the ARC copy of this book. All opinions expressed are my own.
Since this book covers a full year of devotions, and this review needs to be written in a timely manner, I need to make the disclaimer that I haven’t yet read every devotion in this book. But I have read sections of it, and I like what I’ve read. This is a great concept for a daily devotional book, and I’m looking forward to reading this on a day-to-day basis. It’s a good reading plan to stay in the Word every day. I think this book would make a nice gift for ladies in all seasons of life.
I received a copy of this book from the publisher. All opinions are my own.
It is hard to do full justice to a review of this book as it is designed to be read over a year but the sections which I have read are both relevant and inspirational. For those of us who study our Bible's on a daily basis, then a fresh way of reading and reflecting, written by an intelligent and true believer, is always a blessing. Thank you for allowing me the opportunity to share this journey with you.
Sharon has done a splendid job of creating a devotional that looks through the lens at seeing Jesus in every passage of the Bible. A refreshing take on daily devotions that puts your focus on seeing Jesus. Well done!
