Say You Still Love Me alternates between the past at Camp Wawa and the present 13 years later. I think this worked well for this story. Piper Calloway is the daughter of a wealthy, well-connected CEO and used to having all her needs met. Her parents decide to send her to Camp Wawa for a summer to help her learn to recognize her privilege. Kyle Miller is good looking, mischievous and someone her father would disapprove of in every way. They have an unforgettable summer and then don’t speak again. When they meet again 13 years later will this be their second chance?
I enjoyed this book and it felt perfect for summer. Who doesn’t want to read a book about summer camp and young love? I didn’t have this experience at camp and I was never a camp counselor, but I do fondly remember my years at summer camp.
This book did not disappoint, I read it in less than a day and felt the same weight of emotion I felt after finishing The Simple Wild. I loved Piper’s character in the present a strong businesswoman working for her father’s company. There is a little bit of steaminess, which is awkward (perhaps inappropriate?) considering this is a teenage love story. Outside of that I really enjoyed this book.
Thank you Atria Books and Netgalley for my e-arc. All opinions are my own
The other two star reviews pretty much nailed it. I was bored out of my mind. I pushed through, as it's KA Tucker and I've really been loving her books lately, with hopes that it would pick up. Nope. Boring from beginning to end. The struggle was real. Kills me to say that.
My first issue was the insane amount of pointless, filler detail. Long paragraphs of mundane. I almost forgot which KA author I was reading there for a minute. Way too wordy and not enough character interaction/development/chemistry. Because of this, there was nothing that stood out about these individuals, which means there was nothing riveting about their journey.
My second issue was the jumping between past and present every other chapter. I wanted to be in the now with the characters and we don't really get them interacting in the present until about 65% or so, making it a slow burn for the adult portion of the romance. Most of the interaction we see between them is when they were teens at summer camp. You will get romance and sex here, but it is fade to black/minimal detail (this wasn't an issue for me but may be for others). 8 weeks at camp sure did provide a crap ton of unimportant content. I don't care who's wearing what or who's having sex with who, or who came out of the closet...
Ms. Tucker could have given us a 1/3 of camp life and spent the rest of the book in the now, building the characters and their relationship. By the time Piper and Kyle finally get back together, I couldn't have cared less. I just wanted it to be over.
My third issue was with the group of friends. A tragic accident happens and only one of them ever goes to check on their friend. Not once in the 13 years. They have no idea how this person is. No clue how bad the injuries are. Nothing. And the kicker, they were all partly to blame for it. When they finally do meet back up it felt very rushed. And maybe it's the bitch in me but I think I would have been a bit pissed off if none of my friends ever came to visit or at least check on me. I give props to this character for being able to move on and not hold a grudge.
I would say don't waste your time or money on this one, but everyone reads differently so you may love it.
Unfortunately, this book did not work for me. It felt cliched with unnecessary angst and drama leftover from teenage feelings. While teenage emotions are accurate, I"m not a fan of a complete lack of communication and carrying over events from the past.
Wow! You know a book is great when you stay up all night to read it. This book exceeded my expectations and everyone should treat themselves to copy of it.
What I loved about this book:
• The writing is amazing and the characters are complex and well developed. I loved reading the descriptions of everyone and was able to envision each character as the author imagined them.
• I loved how it went back and forth between timelines. As you read on you get to know Piper and Kyle in 2006 at Camp WaWa and then again in the present day when they reconnect. While their circumstances have changed them both, their love story draws you and you'll be rooting for them to find a way to stay together this time around.
•I loved how strong and independent Piper became, but that she also retained her kindness in her powerful position. From her acknowledgement of the security guard of the building to the treatment of her assistant, she was genuinely kind to everyone.
• Even though their romance was a slow burn, the build up will keep you addicted to the story. I was unable to put it down and sleep, but it was totally worth being exhausted the next day. I loved reading about them falling in love, but it was the present day plot of them reconnecting that was my favorite.
Honestly there wasn't anything about this book that kept me from giving this book 5⭐ because I absolutely loved it, but the relationship between Piper's Dad and brother had me cringing a bit.
This book was a solid 5 ⭐ for me and I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys second chance romances, powerful female leads, and great lasting friendships. There is so much more than romance in this book and you won't regret picking it up!
I really liked the characters in this book and Piper's work and leadership role in her father's company. The flashbacks to the characters in their teen years were fun to read. The chemistry between the two main characters seemed a bit inst-lovey to me but was still definitely good. Overall, this book held my interest and I enjoyed it. Great summer read since half of it takes place at a summer camp for children :) I had a few ups and downs with the plot in this book but many people likely will not feel that way. I will definitely pursue other books by this author in the future.
Thank you to Netgalley & Atria/Simon & Schuster Canada for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.
This was my first by this author and I really enjoyed this cute, second chance romance. Overall I really like this book, although there was one thing that did bother me a bit, but that's just based on personal preference.
What I liked:
- It was a quick, easy read, but it was also engaging.
- The characters, they were all likable in their own ways even thought they were flawed, as we all are. And the reason they were reacting to each other the way they were was very clear – as in where they were coming from or why they would feel the way they did about a certain situation.
- The dual timeline – as I have said before, this is one of my favorite styles of writing. Gathering bits and pieces of the past while you I progress into the story just seems to enrich it and make it more engaging for me, as long as it is done right and doesn’t cause confusion. And this story was done right when it comes to that as I really enjoyed gaining perspective on why the characters are they way they are now based on some of their past experiences.
What I didn’t like:
- The steam level between teenagers was a bit much for me as I’m a mom of two daughters age 14 and under and don’t want to think of them experiencing this sort of relationship as teenagers. In my personal opinion that’s far too soon, you may disagree with me and that’s ok.

I know that K.A. Tucker loves me; she writes books that make me laugh, swoon and ugly cry. As someone who has also gone to a summer camp several times over my teens, I loved this particular story with all its pains and emotions and love. So much love to be found in this book! Piper and Kyle are amazing both in the flashback chapters and as adults. I liked Kyle; he is a man who has deep emotions and he shows it too while Piper is hard-core but with a soft marshmallow heart.
The story has some surprises; those were the ones who made me ugly cry.
A book written by K.A. Tucker has never failed me and you are going to enjoy it too!
I had just finished The Simple Wild like two weeks before diving into this new one of hers coming out in August. So the bar was set super high because I loved The Simple Wild. This was good but just wasn't as good. It's set in two timelines; Piper at 16 at her first summer camp counselor job and Piper 15(?) years later as the new VIP in her family business. It definitely gives you those summer feels, and I have never gone to camp, but now I want to. Do they have summer camp for adults? Count me in! Kyle is the epitome of teenage bad boy. Talk about steamy! The romance between these two were great!
I just had a hard time connecting with Piper and that's why it got only three stars from me. And for someone who kept in contact with two other camp girlfriends I find it hard to believe she wouldn't have checked in with the other camp friends she was so close to that summer.
I think this is a great summer read.
It seems crazy to me that reading about summer camp will elicit a feeling of nostalgia within me when I've never actually even been to a summer camp before. They get me every. Single. Time. And make me want to go back in time and experience these things for myself!
This is a book about Piper and Kyle and flashes back and forth between the present and the summer they met at Camp Wawa as teens. While at times the flashbacks made it feel like they slowed the book down a bit and were almost even jarring at times (adult Piper is VP at her dad's multiBILLION-dollar company so it's very Corporate compared to "simple" teen life outdoors at a summer camp) I obviously still loved reading about their time at camp and the two falling in love. Young love like that always makes me feel so happy and bubbly inside. It excites me and reminds what those initial feelings were like, all those years ago.
This is my first book by Tucker and it definitely won't be my last, either! I loved her writing, her characters, and the twists that found their way into the story that kept my on my toes. If you're looking for a sweet summer read that also packs a pretty big emotional punch, I'd highly recommend this one!
Huge thanks to NetGalley and Atria books for sending me an eARC in exchange for an honest review! ♥
We've already discussed my love of books that go back and forth between the past and the present, and books that take place at summer camp. So I'm sure it's going to come as no surprise that I absolutely adored this novel.
Pair with the fact that K.A. Tucker is a damn genius and, well, I knew I was going to love this from the minute I read the first page.
Once upon a time I had a first love. And although he and I didn't meet at camp, we did meet at something sort of like camp. Our story is nothing like Piper and Kyle's but I can understand why Piper would find herself filled with nostalgia when Kyle walks back into her life.
What I didn't anticipate is how drawn I would be to their story, of the fact that this book as so many layers.
What I didn't anticipate is that the night I finished this book I found myself sobbing, having to put it aside for a few minutes so I could get myself together.
K.A. Tucker has this way of drawing you into the lives of her characters in a way that makes you fall in love with them. And then when the end comes you just don't know what to do.
I am at a loss without Piper and Kyle and their friends. But would I take back reading this book?
Not in a million years.
This is one of my favorite KA Tucker books to date — and I’m a huge fan. The romance between Kyle and Piper is perfect, but there was a lot more to the story that I appreciated. Strong female friendships, commentary on what it’s like trying to be taken seriously as a working woman, and complicated family dynamics were all touched on deftly. I greatly enjoyed Say You Still Love Me and look forward to even more from Tucker.

This book, I absolutely loved it! As soon as I picked it up, I could not put it down.
The storyline and how how it unfolded was just so much fun to read. The character depth and chemistry was well done. I felt like everything flowed so nicely within this story. The build up was so beautiful to read. Makes me want to go to summer camp!

Say You Still Love Me is a second chance romance that captivated me from the start, even if it was a tad on the slow side, it picked up on the second half of the book.
I am sure we've all had those moments of “what if” I know I have. This book explores that possibility between two people who are so far apart from each other socially ie shes the rich girl from a prestigious neighbor and hes the boy from the wrong side of the tracks.
Kyle and Piper had that instant connection and fell in love over the summer as camp counselors. The story is cut between the past and present, we get to see them both as adults and as teenagers. What is so blatantly obvious is that their shared feelings had not changed since the thirteen years they've been apart.
There was a part of that wished the past chapters were lessened so I could have more of present Piper and Kyle. The pacing felt slower to me in those chapter. But as soon as we get to that second half, BAM the twist happens and we find out about Kyle's actions and why he is back in Pipers life. There is much mystery about surrounding his reasoning. But they deny the attraction is still there.
I loved the theme that was embedded throughout the entire book; love can be very messy and unpredictable, it requires forgiveness and faith and trust for it work.
For my first K.A. Book I loved it. I recommend for anyone who loves a second chance romance. And if you're a K.A. Tucker fan, don't miss this one!
Thank you to NetGalley, K.A. Tucker and Atria books for the free e-book in exchange for an honest review.
Piper is a twenty-nine year old VP at her fathers multibillion-dollar real estate company and lives with her two best friends in a downtown penthouse. But she is always having to prove her worth in a male dominated industry and she’s stuck seeing her ex-fiancé and fellow VP every day at the office. Things get much more complicated when she runs into Kyle, the new security guard at her office and the first love of her life. She hasn’t seen or heard of him since they were camp counselors together over ten years ago; a guy who apparently can’t even remember her name. Piper may be a strong businesswoman, but she comes to realize that she is still in love with Kyle and she is determined to make him realize he feels the same.
Guys, I have just realized that I don’t have enough K.A. Tucker’s novels! This novel was just perfect for what I needed to read and I flew through it because I just adored all the characters and the idea behind the story. Piper, Kyle and the whole gang from the summer camp were amazing people and they made me wish that I had been around to go to camp with them! It was such a fun novel with serious parts and then parts that made me want to cry! There are parts of this novel that will touch everyone’s heart, especially since it’s about her first love. I love that you see that everyone has their flaws and make mistakes, but that you have to learn how to forgive the people who you can’t live without. The flashbacks to camp were one of my favorite parts of this novel and I couldn’t help but wish I had gone to camp as a girl! This was such a great summer novel about summer love and I honestly can’t wait to pick up more by K.A. Tucker!
Out August 6th!
I have been a long time fan of KA Tucker ever since I discovered her Ten Tiny Breaths series. When I saw this book on Netgalley, I didn't hesitate requesting a copy and reading this second chance romance!
When Piper was 16, she fell in love with Kyle at camp Wawa. And never saw him again after that summer. Now, as a 29-year-old business women grooming to take over her father's business, Piper is shocked when she runs into Kyle in the lobby of her building. Kyle is their newest security guard. Old memories and emotions come rushing back. Why is Kyle back in her life? Can she really trust him with her heart again?
From the beginning, I really loved how this book was a dual timeline between when Kyle and Piper first fell in love and when they reconnected years later. Piper then and Piper now were pretty different people, but her feelings for Kyle were definitely the same. I loved how Piper was fighting to prove to people she was just as capable as the men in the company. There was some drama in her company that I did feel was dragged out and a bit anticlimactic, but I enjoyed seeing her dedicate her life to a job she was passionate about.
This book felt fluffy and fun, but definitely took a more serious, somber turn near the end. I really enjoyed the cast of characters in this book and the people that Piper had surrounded herself with, specifically her friends. This book reminded me to so much of my own teenage summers and spending time away at camps and with friends. Kyle was so adorable and I really wanted to see more of him with Piper in the current timeline.
If you're looking for a second chance summer read, I would absolutely recommend Say You Still Love Me. You get to watch a couple fall in love as teens and reconnect many years later. There is so much more than the romance here and you won't want to put the book down.
Say You Still Love Me is a cute second chance romance told from the past and present. Readers follows Piper Calloway as she’s forced to attend a summer camp as a counsellor while her friends are off enjoying Europe. When Piper arrives, she realizes the summer might not be so bad after all once she’s introduced to Kyle Miller.
What I loved most about Say You Still Love Me were the chapters set in the past. Those chapters are rife with palpable chemistry between the main characters and fun secondary characters all set within a setting that’s easy to visualize.
Tucker takes the star-crossed lovers trope and gives it a fresh spin with the setting and time jump. I cannot express how much I loved the camp setting. It’s fun, fresh, and exciting. It also lends itself perfectly to the star-crossed lovers trope as it levels the playing field between the characters. Tucker’s writing ability when it comes to setting and atmosphere is second to none in the romance genre. She proved her skills in The Simple Wild and, now, with Say You Still Love Me cements her mastery.
What ultimately led me to rate Say You Still Love Me four stars instead of five was the chapters that took place in the present. Those chapters don’t have as much presence since they’re trying to juggle Piper’s career with her personal life. As much as I enjoyed watching Piper in her element, it doesn’t hold a candle to Piper and Kyle at camp.
Overall, Say You Still Love Me is the perfect summer romance to curl up with at the cottage.
Say You Still Love Me by K.A. Tucker tells the story of Piper and Kyle, who had love at first sight as summer camp counselors at 16. Fast forward 13 years, they haven't talked since camp, until they are reconnected. This is told in a dual timeline format, alternating chapters between the past and the present. I liked seeing glimpses of the past and how their relationship was as teenagers, but sometimes I felt it slowed the story a little bit, switching back and forth.
Present-day, Piper is a very successful business woman, poised to take over her father's multi-million company. They get reconnected when Kyle takes a job at her building, working security. As they get reacquainted with each other, the past resurfaces, for both good and bad. Piper and Kyle have to determine if the past is just that - the past, destined to be a fond memory of first loves, or if their relationship is workable in the reality of present-day.
I really liked Piper's character, she is strong and successful, driven by her career but not to the point of being self-absorbed or viewing others who aren't as rich as her as being less valuable or less of a person. She is caring in her relationships with her friends and family, and even with tension in her relationship with her father, she always respects him. Kyle as a character was definitely not my favorite leading man ever, but then again I've never really had a thing for the bad boy stereotype. However, he also cares deeply for Piper as well as his best friends, and I find that touching.
Overall, this was a really enjoyable read and I was definitely hooked to keep reading and see where they were going to end up! (I read it in the span of about 24 hours). If you are a fan of second-chance romance, I would absolutely recommend giving this a read! I would imagine if you had gone to summer camp or been a camp counselor, this would be an especially fun, nostalgic read for the summer.
Thank you so much to NetGalley and Atria Books for my advance galley in exchange for an honest review.
Say You Still Love Me is a dual-timeline second-chance love story between a high-powered real estate developer named Piper and Kyle, a man from the wrong side of the tracks. They first met and fell in love at 16 at summer camp, and 13 years later, they're working in the same building...and Kyle doesn't remember Piper's name. And naturally Piper is very offended. DID THAT SUMMER OVER A DECADE AGO MEAN NOTHING TO HIM? DOES IT NOT STILL HAUNT HIS DREAMS?!
Sigh. Sarcasm aside, I hesitate to write this review because I already know I am in the minority, and because I actually loved The Simple Wild (also by KA Tucker) and don't want to be mean -- but I am just feeling so MEH about this book.
There wasn't really anything remarkable about it. It read like a 16 year old's dream come true, but not in a good way. Piper's job and life situation were unbelievable and Kyle was just such a stereotypical "bad boy."
Because Romance isn't my genre of choice, I think I have less patience for a book that is, in my opinion, just a bunch of fluff. I would have appreciated a much more developed story line and believable character development.
That being said, I would recommend The Simple Wild if you're looking for a good KA Tucker. If you're a fan of Romance or are nostalgic for your teen years, you'd probably like this one just fine, though.
Thank you to NetGalley and Atria Books for the ARC.
K.A. Tucker is quickly becoming a favorite author. I love the way this book was structured (alternating between the past/present) and how both timeframes fueled the other. I love a badass, corporate lady protagonist and Piper definitely delivered for me on that front. While I absolutely loved diving into the relationship (both past and current) between Piper and Kyle, I really enjoyed the work business storyline as well. I don't want to include any spoilers but I loved the way things worked out and would love a follow up book with Piper and Kyle because I can imagine it won't always be smooth sailing.
This has a very good chance at being my favorite book of the summer! A second-chance romance for Piper and Kyle, who met years ago at a summer camp and now are reconnecting despite their very different lifestyles. I absolutely loved the chemistry between the main characters and loved rooting for them!! You’re gonna wanna read this as soon as it’s released on 8/6!!
