First off, this is one of the best books I’ve read this year. P. Dangelico is the absolute queen of slow burns and I bow to her. Every. Single. One of her books that I’ve read have been amazing and Nothing But Trouble is definitely one of my favorites. This woman writes my book crack. I’m normally not of fan of New Adult, but I took a chance because I’ve had nothing but success with this author and this book was everything. Enemies to friends to lovers...like what did I just read?! It was absolute perfection. Drama, but the good, angsty kind that makes you keep turning the page. Deliciously, excruciating sexual tension that I couldn’t get enough of. Alice and Reagan are complete opposites, but they are sooo right together. I loved the foundations of their relationship and how they became friends that turned into best friends that turned into lovers-the very best kind of relationship progression. There was so much emotion between them and throughout this whole book. I really felt the love dripping off the pages. Plus the secondary characters that were introduced truly enriched this story and I can already see some relationships brewing. I can’t wait to get into these characters more. This book was the complete package and I will be anxiously anticipating more to come!!

I have been wanting to read a book by P. Dangelico for awhile now so I put in a request for this ARC. I am happy to say that I really did enjoy her writing style and will definitely be reading more of her books. I did like the premise of the star athlete and the not-so-popular girl becoming friends and then eventually becoming something more. There were a few things that I absolutely did not like at all which is why I won't be giving this 5 stars. There are some tropes in contemporary romance that I cannot stand and this had one of them. I also felt the ending was a bit too rushed. Overall this was a very good new adult contemporary romance!

Well, I am very disappointed with this one. I hate to say it too.
I have read and loved several books by Ms. Dangelico and this one just didn't meet my expectations. It was written well....
I think my issue was (ducks head before shoes come flying) IdontlikeReagan!
I did not like Reagan.
At all.
I think he ruined this one for me.

Still give it a try and maybe you will like it.

Great start to a new series!

Alice Bailey went to community college for several years to save up enough money so she could transfer to Malibu University with her scholarship to finish up her degree in film. But when the worst driver ever almost run over her while she was walking up the hill to the campus and she had to dive out of the way spraining her ankle badly. Reagan Reynolds was movie star gorgeous and thought that everyone at Malibu University knew who he was but when Alice didn’t, he was surprised. Reagan wanted to find out more about Alice but she only had stuff about films and such on social media and nothing personal so he had to ask his friends and they knew nothing either because Alice kept to herself.

Reagan has a lot of friends and people to hang around with but Alice was happier with pictures and taking video to apply for an internship but when Reagan figures out that Alice needed money or she might have to sell one of her nice cameras, he had his coach hired her to make a video about the team.

Reagan had finally found someone that cared about him and helped him with his family and Alice needed Reagan to come out of her shell. I enjoyed reading Nothing But Trouble and I really want to know who the next book in the series is about.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

so, funny story. i don't like NA books anymore. i have a bunch on my kindle from when i liked them more, but i rarely read them these days because young people are annoying, i don't like reading about college, i don't give any shits about college sports. however. i do like P Dangelico's books, so, i requested it. and i enjoyed it, mostly, with a few things i didn't enjoy, that definitely kinda ruined the book a bit for me. this is the first Dangelico book i am rating less than 4 stars.

this book is probably between 3 and 4 stars but i'm rounding down to 3. it was 4 stars for a lot of the book until the hero does something ridiculous stupid and unforgivable. yes, they were only friends, but he was the king of mixed signals. i just didn't like what he did. i was not okay with it. that really bummed me out. on top of that, the heroine overhears what he said to his mother and that's never talked about? and then the hero does what he does at the end, and though it's understandable given what he went through, it was a dick move, and when the resolution happened, i wanted more. i am glad he was (i can't spoiler tag this on netgalley so, warning) celibate at least.. overall, i just wish he had grovelled a wee bit more and the heroine stuck to her guns a tad bit more. i did like her a lot in the beginning and the only times i didn't love her were when she forgave the hero too quickly.

all that being said, this was a very enjoyable read and it would be 4 stars if not for the thing the hero does at the party. i feel like there could have been conflict without that? actions speak louder than words and his actions were shitty. i don't see why he needed to do what he did, and then what happens afterwards should have been emotional for me but it left me feeling squicky because he did what he did. blergh. but i liked their friendship, i liked the story. i want to read the next books about the friends.

i really am not trying to shit on this book and i know some people really disliked tiebreaker, but i felt like that was different and the outrage was a bit unwarranted... but here, it's not in the past, it's in the present and the hero's reason is not good enough, not worth the shitty action, you know? it just bugged me, and i liked tiebreaker.

so. overall. take the thing he did at the party out and it's a 4 star book for me. but with it, it just bummed me out and kind of tainted the rest of their relationship for me.

i do really enjoy p dangelico's books though, so this will not turn me off her books and like i said, i will continue the series even though NA isn't my jam. because i really do like her books and writing.

I loved this book. Drew me in from the start. Alice’s sass was great and Reagan spent way too long in denial.

The group of friends were all great and the banter amongst them all was good.

There was serious topics covered in this book and I felt for Reagan and what he went through. Him and Alice were a great couple.

Look forward to reading more in this series.

Thanks to. Net Galley for the ARC.

Overall Rating: 4 stars
Do I recommend it?: Yes
Genre: New Adult
POV: Dual
Writing: 4 stars. I generally enjoy P. Dangelico’s writing style, this was one of her better efforts.
Story/Plot: 4 stars. This was a slow-burn, almost enemy-to-lovers, sports romance.
Characters: 3.5 stars. I really liked Alice’s character, she was fiesty and independent. Reagan wasn’t quite as strong a male lead as I generally prefer, but he was definitely likeable.
Emotions: 3 stars. Honestly, I could have done without the brother/family drama. This could have easily stood alone as a romance. Having said that, I really enjoyed watching the romance and characters progress.
Flow/pacing: 4 stars. A really nice slow-burn romance with lots of witty banter, which I love.
Steam: 4 stars. Again, the slow-burn was well done. Not a lot of sexy times, but appropriate for their relationship growth.
HEA: Yes.
Will I read this author again?: Definitely. I’m really looking to the rest of this series!

When you primarily read romance the majority of the stories is something you've read before in some variation. I was looking forward to this story because, hello? Water polo and swimmer bodies? Yum! And I never read a book about water polo players before, so I was intrigued.
Sadly this book didn't work for me completely. At first I found Alice unnecessarily bitchy - Reagan almost runs her over with his car and she sprains her ankle in the process. He is in general a nice guy and wants to help her. She refuses. Every. Single. Time. And I still don't understand why she did.

Despite it all they start to develop a friendship which is going fairly well in the beginning. They've friend-zoned each other though, so when they start catching feelings their is a constant push and pull and back and forth. Reagan in particular goes in circles in his mind, up to the point that it got frustrating. I was still at a solid 3.5 by 75%, though, so I soldiered on. Unfortunately he had a momentary lapse of judgement at that point.

He totally screwed up in such a childish, moronic way that I saw the top of my skull, that's how hard my eyes rolled. At that point I was over it. The hero explained what had gone through his mind and the heroine was like..."K."

The writing style is appropriate for NA but It sometimes sounds that the author is trying a little too hard to sound cool. Nevertheless, It was in parts fun to read. I'm really sad that this story didn't work for me, however, check out other reviews. I know that a lot of people loved NOTHING BUT TROUBLE.

I received an ARC from Netgalley and I am happy to give my honest review.

I have never read a P. Dangelico book before but I've seen her name pop up in the romance book scene for a while. I am not a huge fan of college/new adult books but I thought I'd give this one a try.

Nothing But Trouble stars Alice and Reagan. Alice is a transfer student to Malibu University from Boston. She is studying cinematography and is having a no good, very bad day. Reagan is rich, popular, handsome, and a star on the university's water polo team. Right. Water polo. I guess that is a real sport? Not something you really see here in Wisconsin.

Reagan accidentally nearly runs Alice over with his car. She sprains her ankle and, to assuage his guilt, decides to tote her around campus until she's better. They become friends and he gets her a side job taking video of his water polo team for a recruitment video. They have chemistry and want each other romantically but he won't allow anything to happen since he needs to go to medical school next year and he doesn't want to be tied down in a relationship. Cue the obvious angst.

Eventually they do get together and it's nice. They're a nice couple. It's not really hot or sexy or anything more than smile inducing. But then he messes up big time. At 95% in the book. It was complete whiplash and I had no idea how this would be resolved. Like, he had some major groveling to do and that just did not happen. The ending didn't seem realistic to me and honestly made me kind of mad.

I'm still giving this a decent review because it held my attention enough to finish the book and the writing is solid. I plan on checking out some of this author's other work but frankly, this wasn't really my cup of tea.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for granting me an ARC of this book. The review below is entirely my own opinion.

I really, really liked this book. But then college/new-adult dramas/serials are one of my guilty pleasures. This one is not too angsty, but it had enough, imo, just to make it a page-turning read.

I enjoyed how Alice and Reagan's romance developed from a solid friendship. It's a great slow-burn. Boy, there's a lot of heat and chemistry between these two and it's so good.

I am also a sports-romance junkie. It's one of my favorite romance subgenres and this is my first book with involving water-polo. Boy, it was so interesting! I loved all the scenes about meets and matches. I'm very much into details like that because it brings so much tangibleness and meat that, I feel, rounds out the MC's personalities and story.

Finally, I really, really liked the other people we meet in the story --- Alice's circle of friends and Reagan's teammates are people I definitely want to get to know more. Brock, Dallas, Zoe, Blake, Dora --- man, I can't wait for their books.

When Alice Bailey meets waterpolo hottie Reagan Reynolds she is not impressed by his driving style; she hurts her ankle when she has to jump out of his (car's) way. Reagan however is immediately intrigued by Alice and - after some hickups - a beautiful friendship evolves. But is friendship all they want?

Loved this story! Alice and Reagan are both well fleshed out. Both have their own struggles and fears. Reagan with his older brother Brian, who is addicted and has been abandoned by their wealthy parents. I was so touched by this storyline. The friendship between Reagan and Alice was real and the evolving love story as well.

Another winner for me by Paola Dangelico. Her slow burn books tick all my boxes. Totally enjoyed this one and must admit I hope for a Dallas/Dora story (and some extra glimpses of Reagan/Alice).

An enjoyable read right up until the end, which wrapped up pretty abruptly and in the most anti-climatic way.

Reagan and Alice form an unlikely friendship after he almost mows her down with his car. He can't help but find this girl - who isn't impressed by his super-college-athlete status - intriguing. I've always really connected with P. Dangelico's characters, and this was no exception.

Reagan's relationship with his brother was so heart-wrenching especially when we get to know his parents and their icy style of parenting. His reaction to a later scene with his brother wasn't unexpected, but I didn't at all like how he handled things with Alice.

A few minor problems with character choices such as Reagan's intentional PDA with another girl to incite jealousy in Alice after he pretty much told her he wanted a relationship. It was weird and misplaced.

Wrapping up their romantic arc happened extremely fast after the angsty events. Rushed and honestly bewildering, I just couldn't believe that after all of the drama the resolution was so simple. Very disappointing and it made me respect Alice a lot less.

Not the best from P. Dangelico.

I really enjoyed Nothing But Trouble to the point where I woke up an extra hour earlier to finish it before I went to work - and I NEVER do that, I need my sleep 😂

The slow burn relationship and connection that forms between Reagan & Alice is tantalising and addictive. The friendship that forms first and foremost is heartfelt and genuine and leaves you wanting more from them. The will they/won't they of their slow burning romance had me on the edge of my seat willing them to get their act together! (I admit I was goner when Reagan started getting jealous 😍)

Each character is written incredibly well and they are all integral to the story-line, each interlacing factor building on a strong, but easy to read plot-line.

The main characters activities (water-polo & photography/videography) we're so well written about and easily believable tasks for the pair of them to be doing.

I thought Nothing But Trouble was a well written romance that tackled real life issues, such as addiction, in an honest and open way.

My only qualm with the story was that the resolution between the two character came very abruptly at the end of the book and felt a little rushed. I realised I was 96% through the book before the reconciliation had even started which had me feeling a little anxious, and when it finally happened, it was so quick I felt a little cheated out of my Alice & Reagan time! (I'm obsessed with them and imagine that even if I had a 100 paged reconciliation it probably wouldn't have been enough!)

All in all, a really easy and enjoyable read!

This was a book about Alice and Reagan, a girl and a boy away at college who strike up an unlikely friendship in an interesting scenario. I enjoyed the love story between them. It was slightly predictable, but it was an enjoyable read.

I am a huge fan of this author, so perhaps my expectations were too high. Don't get me wrong, I liked Nothing But Trouble, it was a solid 3.5 star read for me, but it certainly didn't blow me away either. I loved both the water polo and cinematography aspects. And all of the characters were interesting (with the exception of his parents who were incredibly one dimensional). The story itself was good. My main issue was the ending. Both the main conflict and the resolution happened right at the end. And it felt rushed and trite and just left me with a bad taste in my mouth.

I knew what I expected when I started this book, a friends to lovers story about a fish out of water college student falling for a popular jock and I certainly got that. However I also got a surprising amount of depth and emotion alongside all of the sexual tension and repartee. I was hooked by this book and cannot wait to read the rest of this series.

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

What a great (and angsty story) !
Alice and Reagan meet under unique circumstances. They develop feelings for one another all the while acting as friends. They do care for each other and don't want to mess it up (even if that translates into a whole lot of frustration for them... and for the reader).
I don't want to give to much away but this book is a must read. I'm not one to give a good rating just because I got the book for free. This one had humor, tension and a ton of love and is definitely a book I would have enjoyed even if I had paid for it.
P Dangelico has become one of my top 3 contemporary romance writers. She writes engaging stories, full of beautiful but not perfect characters. My fave !

This book is what new adult dreams are made of! Seriously, it was freaking fantastic! This is the first book in a new series and I’m one hundred percent here for it! The writing was wonderful throughout, pacing was perfect and the character development was superb, even the character development for secondary characters was terrific.

It’s a friends to lovers trope with dual point of view. Alice is a sarcastic, independent, strong, funny transfer student. Reagan was a water polo player, who was actually a really nice guy. Starts off with a pretty hilarious meet cute, of Reagan hitting Alice with his car. He feels so guilty about it and starts trying to help her whenever he can. They were both kind of circling each other and couldn’t ever get their timing right, but finally it all came together. The finale was pretty darn perfect for this set of characters.

It’s a new adult but it felt refreshing and different. I don’t think I’ve ever read a book about water polo, and honestly, don’t know much about it. The secondary group of characters were so incredible. But, there was also a pretty serious issue happening to Reagan and his family. I won’t spoil what that was, but it was heartbreaking.

If you didn’t already guess, I wholeheartedly recommend this book! Now, I need book 2 like now!

I loved this book! I couldn't put it down. The characters were authentic and wickedly funny and fun to read about. I loved the bro-mances and the girls sticking up for each other. Please give us more! (Dallas especially)

I am completely unable to resist a well-done slightly angsty, new adult slow burn. When done right, these books completely pull me into their orbit and do not let me go until I turn the very last page (and sometimes even longer). I feel like I'm a part of the story, wholly invested in the characters, with my heart along for every peak and valley on the road to love.

In case you were wondering? Nothing But Trouble was one of those books for me. Gah! I was so addicted to it! Held captive to Ms. Dangelico's words from the banter-filled meet-cute to the emotion-filled happy ending. This is only my second book by this author, but it's enough to mark her as the "real deal" for me, because for the second time? She delivered a book I didn't ever want to put down.

The burn was perfect. Alice and Reagan's friendship was charged with sparky heat from the very beginning and even as they worked so hard to keep each other at arms length, they steadily lost their hearts and took mine right along with it. I loved their friendship. I loved their adorable, playful banter. I loved the way they loved each other, even when it hurt. Simply put: I loved them both so freaking much!

I also loved the complexity and depth that Ms. Dangelico gave these characters. There are some hard hitting emotional punches delivered along the way, and they only served to draw me in deeper, and wrap my heart more firmly around Alice and Reagan both as individuals and as a couple. It was a compelling story - even beyond the romance.

On top of all these things, sports romance is one of my all time favorite tropes to read, and yet I've never read a water polo story before. Now? I. Am. Hooked. I mean, the water polo itself is obviously not the main piece of the story, but what I got of it was interesting and fun to read and the guys on the team? They were drool-worthy, fun, and hilarious - in all the same ways that make other sports romance such a pleasure to read. I loved this so much, and cannot wait to get more in future stories.

All this is to say, Nothing But Trouble is a fantastic kick-off to the Malibu University series. My heart ached and burned and fluttered furiously over the course of Alice and Reagan's story and I am beyond excited to get my hands on more where this came from!
