A Perfect Lie was a political based story about the expectations of a political candidate. Image, actions, behavior, and persona were vital areas of concern when living under the microscope of the public eye.
Hailey’s father was a presidential candidate. She had to adhere to a perfect image. Except it wasn’t just her image that was up for debate.

Let me introduce you to the characters:
Hailey Anne Monroe AKA Hailey Anne Pitt a politicians daughter.
Thomas Frank Monroe running for President.
Tobey Hailey’s boyfriend.
Danielle Hailey’s best friend.
Jake a friend with benefits.
Logan a friend with connections.

Overall:
Every chapter was written in Hailey’s first person point of view. Her thoughts were laid out before each chapter giving the reader a sense of where her feelings lie. It’s quite helpful to get inside her head.

Hailey’s character was very resourceful. She’s an intelligent woman. I like strong independent women. What I didn’t understand was her quick relationship with Jake.

This was a three part story containing the beginning, the middle, and the end. Part one: the beginning also known as the past. Getting to know the characters. Part two: the middle also known as the present delving back into the past to resurface the hidden secrets. Part three: the end giving closure and the future.

It was a wordy tale about political scandal. I skimmed a good chunk of the story due to the wordiness. I found the relationships with Jake and Logan to be ill-fitted with the storyline. The art pursuit was disappointing.

I did like when Lissa focused on the scandalous actions of her father. Once that mystery was solved I felt good about its discovery. Although, it was easy to decipher what was taking place.

I really enjoyed this book it has me from the start and I couldn't get enough of the story, read it in one sitting as I couldn't put it down. Real page turner it will keep you guessing and wondering how it all going play out. it is full of suspense and mystery and just when I thought I knew what was going on I was wrong. Told from Hailey's Pov. It will keep you on the edge of your seat. if you have read Lisa's books before you are going love this one it is different but oh so good.
Well written and another great read by this author.

A Perfect Lie is not a romance novel. It's not a mystery. It's not contemporary. It's all of those things and more. Why did I start that way? Because A Perfect Lie is a story. It's a pretty simple story actually. Hailey Anne Monroe was born into a political family. She doesn't like it. That's okay because it appears that the family doesn't like her much either. And stuff happens. Lots of stuff. As the story unspools the reader is taken on a journey of lies, deceit, attraction, love, hate and madness. There were a couple of head scratching twists and turns but I forgave them because the end of the story was.....the end. It's a sort of indefinable feeling at the end of the story because Hailey is still Hailey and the world continues to spin. I found the conclusion interesting and fitting.

If you are looking for a happy, fluffy, lovey novel, don't read this book. If you are looking for something different, creative, frustrating, sad but very readable, give this a try. Hailey isn't a likable character but in the end I found myself rooting for her.

This is definitely different from what I am used to from LRJ which I knew going in, but I enjoyed it. This is a well written, well thought out suspenseful/mystery/thriller. So many secrets, as you would expect in politics. I wasn't sure how much to trust what Hailey was saying at times. I had many unanswered questions that I had to keep reading to get to the bottom of what the heck was really going on. I like a book that keeps me on my toes.

I believe I have read every book written by Lisa Renee Jones. I was so looking forward to this book. I tried, I really tried to like and enjoy this one, but I just couldn't. This book jumped from past to present tense and the characters were unlikeable and vapid. Yet for some reason i couldn't put it down. It was like watching someone's life that was difficult to watch but you couldn't look away.

A Perfect Lie is my first book by Lisa Renee Jones and it did not disappoint. I ended up staying up all night to read this because the story and mystery are enough to hook you in from page one.
A Perfect Lie was a good thriller with a satisfying ending.

‘If a lie is a perfect lie, the kind that is undetectable to the human eyes, does it even count? Perhaps not unless you make a mistake and it’s exposed.’

This books makes you think. What is a lie? Is there such a thing as a perfect lie? A good read, full of mystery and suspense and what-ifs. The Past and Present back and forth narrative offers an interesting perspective on this twisty story.

I loved the political thriller element of this book: there were a lot of twists and turns, and we all know politics is a dirty game, and this book sure showed that.

The one thing that really knocked this review down from a 4.5 to a 3.5 was the execution of the ‘big reveal’. I felt like the big climactic part of this book was revealed in a short 5 pages and didn’t provide some answers for other loose ends (not necessarily in a ‘up to the reader’s interpretation’ kind of way… but in a ‘what did I miss??’ kind of way). The ending was a bit too rushed for me, but I did really enjoy the beginning & middle parts of the book. I would recommend this one to someone who is looking for a page turning thriller.

The Perfect Lie is an ambitious story that has me so conflicted. On the one hand, there is a definite mystery as to what in the world is going on in poor Hailey’s life. That mystery kept me reading to the very last page. On the other hand, there were almost too many twists, turns, and possible bad guys who kept cropping up. Sometimes that added to the suspense, but a lot of times it left the reader with whiplash or a severe case of eye roll-itis. Hailey’s skin prickled or tingled every time someone was watching her, to the point that I was waiting for a paranormal twist to the story. Every. Time.
So, a very ambitious story -sometimes it worked for me and sometimes it didn’t.

Just what I didn’t know I wanted to read! This was a fantastic story complete with the mystery, steamy sex, complicated relationships, and a finish that made you drop your jaw!

This story was a little different than what I normally expect from the author in that she alluded to some current events in our world. Subtle but still there. Maybe I just read into it but the similarity is there and I have to say, she did a great job of weaving that into an already interesting story. The best part was that you get a complete story with no cliff hanger. There are plenty of storylines to pursue if this is to be a series.

She used an interesting way of telling the story as well. The character talked to the reader and then explained the back story. It was sort of like what you might write in a journal or even a letter to a friend. You became a part of the story and the conversation.

Fantastic read which is what I always expect from this author!

Unfortunately, I have tried reading this book on 2 separate occasions and during this 2nd attempt, I have only managed to make it halfway through so I'd rather stop here and state that this book just wasn't for me.
I wish the author, publisher, and all those promoting the book much success and connections with the right readers.

A Perfect Lie was a good thriller well written and some good twists. The middle was a bit slow, but the ending was quick.

Yes yes yes ! the author is baaaacckkkkk. I have read this authors entire back list and it seemed lately her books were no longer jiving with me. I have always loved the author’s ability to weave a thriller and suspense story together. Where I say we haven’t jived is the romance aspect its felt a bit off lately sometimes too insta and sometimes just not a good match. The author has figured out that her romantic elements can be left out. Now there is romance and adult elements in this book but its fade to black style and no descriptions of the naughty bits. The book kept me on my toes and the plot twists kept me entertained. The book flops from the past to the future quite quickly and often so make sure you really pay attention to the chapter introductions. Now is it the best book of all time? No there are some loops holes I wish were closed or closed better but man this was a great thriller and a completely different style of book for our author I can’t wait to see where she takes her newfound talent next!

I may need to go back and re-read this book, knowing how it ends. But as much as I love reading books by Lisa Renee Jones, this one disappointed me. The story is told in a series of the main character discussing how she felt and dropping hints of what was to come, and then telling what happened in the past, slowly getting to the present.

What I didn't like: I couldn't relate to the main character's inner feelings. She just seemed too paranoid, too tightly wound up. And I didn't feel like I really knew any of the characters because of the way the main character thought of them.

What I did like: some of the men in her life. I would have loved to see more of two of her relationships, but I'll have to get that fix when I re-red the book.

I love Lisa Renee Jones! Her books are a soon thing to me! She fills her pages with twist and turns and amazing substance! I was super excited when I saw A Perfect Lie on Netgalley and doubly excited when I was able to start reading! 

A Perfect Lie had me on the edge of myself seat and glued to every word. I loved the way Lisa Renee Jones wrote Hailey. And I love the pace of this book! I love how I fast the story went!

I can not wait to read more from Lisa Renee Jones!

A Real Page Turner!

Lisa Rene Jones has done it again...deliver one of her absolute best! So many twists and turns I find myself completely lost in this book, wasn't sure if I was coming or going. The least you expect to happen happens. They just keep coming it hits you unawares. I find myself asking what! what just happened?!! I honestly could not put this book down even if I tried, it kept me at the edge of my seat. There were so many flashbacks and internal self-dialogs and self-rumination but it just adds up to the crux of the mystery that made the story even more engrossing, exciting and gripping that I didn't want it to end.

While the characters were relatable, the flashbacks were excessive and made the book drag for me. I did like the suspense, and there was parts that were unpredictable to me. I wish the author would have tied up all the loose ends, rather than leaving this reader with questions.

This book is so well written from the start and I feel the main character Hailey was really well developed to the point you could imagine her exactly as she would be.
The book from the start was a page turner although it did get slightly repetive in the middle.
What I am most disappointed in though is the ending......... It just felt rushed and really abrupt I felt like I must of skipped a chapter without realising it!
The beginning was so good and so real it made me invest in Hailey's life I was just really disappointed and let down by the rushed ending

This book was well written with tons of suspense, and great characters. I just felt the middle of the book was a little drawn out.....once I got past that, the ending was great though!
