His Demand by Lisa Renee Jones is the first book in the Dirtier duet that features Gabe Maxwell and Abbie. Gabe is not a man who does relationships. But one look at Abbie and he wants more, more than he ever wanted before. But Abbie has secrets that could be dangerous to anyone around her. Can she trust Gabe, or worse, put him in danger?

Though Gabe and Abbie had a push/pull relationship, mostly on Abbie’s side, they shared a strong connection and steamy chemistry. Abbie was strong and determined. Gabe had his reasons for not wanting lasting relationships, even so he was protective and caring. They each held too much from the other, but the attraction was undeniable! Cannot wait for the next book in the series!

Unfortunately, this wasn’t the book for me. About 75% of the novel was spent by the protagonists arguing about being attracted to each other, or why they should/shouldn’t be together. It couldn’t keep my interest.

Gabe Maxwell doesn't like redheads or relationships, but when he meets Abigail, all of that goes out the window. But Abbie, as he likes to call her, isn't as sweet and innocent as she may seem. She has a past that could get both of them hurt. Abbie's ex is a billionaire and determined to make her life a living hell just to get what he wants. Gabe has enough of his own money to fight any man who wants to hurt Abbie or her family. But what Gabe doesn't know can hurt him and Abbie doesn't want to see that happen.

Thank you to NetGalley and Lisa Renee Jones for the opportunity to read and review this book.

I have read a few books by Lisa Renee Jones, but this one missed the mark for me. Most romance books I'm able to fly through in a couple of days, but this one I just couldn't.

I think the thing that bothered me most about this book is that Abbie kept saying how she shouldn't be with Gabe because of her past. Every chapter, this was the recurring theme. They both know they are bad for each other, but the connection is great, so they try to work it out. Their main focus in this book is the numerous problems that keep arising with Shannon's(Abbie's mom) animal shelter. Abbie's ex is so determined to take this property from her, that he makes lots of false accusations. But this is the only thing she has asked for in the divorce, so he doesn't know why it is so valuable to him.

The saving grace of this book is the end, that leaves you with a cliff-hanger to find out what his going to happen next. So I will read the next book in the series.

I loved this book. A great steamy smoking hot romance book. I love every book that I have read from this author. Well written romance. Great characters.

Gabe and Abbie´s story. A good story overall, but a little hard to follow at times, and ends with a cliffhanger. I liked the characters and especially the dog Dexter. I was a little confused with the 3 bad guys, as only her ex is bouncing in and out. Interested enough to read the next in the series, although prefer not having cliffhangers. Would recommend at 3.5.

5 Stars for His Demand by Lisa Renee Jones

ARC received from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review - opinions expressed are my own !

WOWZIE WOW WOW off the chart stars !!

As with most books I’ve read by this author it’s a GREAT read! I had only finished a chapter when I was already one clicking Her Submission ( book 2 in the Dirtier Duet series )

The hot cover model is a spot on description - at least for me - of Gabe who is a very successful lawyer but I believe has been very badly burned in the relationship department. A chance meeting with Abigail (aka Abbie) has them almost hooking up in a restroom at a bar during a chance meeting. No names are exchanged & Gabe can’t believe he was stupid enough not to get a name or phone # for this gorgeous red head !

Abby is recovering from a very bad marriage from a well known player - although that simple fact was not known to her. Her trust has been badly shaken and there is something sinister going on with her ex although we do not know exactly what ... When Abby meets Gabe she is all in for a potential one night stand until she gets scared - leaves the bar & then only days later finds out Gabe is the brother of the potential lawyer she was hoping would represent her in a case vs her ex husband.

The attraction & chemistry between these two is off the charts. This book does end on a major cliff hanger & I would highly suggest reading book #2 coming out on 4/23 ...

Being a major animal lover I was also drawn to some of the secondary characters - Abby’s Mom is a vet & helps rescue animals & for some reason Abby’s ex husband wants them off the property their shelter is on ( not sure why or what the value is to him ) we really only know that although he no longer wants Abby he doesn’t want anyone else to have her either ...

I can’t wait to see what happens in Her Submission !!!!

Highly recommend this author and series !!

If you know Ms Jones’s books you’ve met Gabe before, and you’ve been waiting to KNOW Gabe... At least I have! Lol... It’s been hinted that while he and his brother Reid are the same, Gabe’s wall is his charm and smile. This entry in Ms Jones’s world has Gabe meeting Abbie in a bar. Cue instant attraction. They kiss, and Gabe is left wanting more. All this comes on the heels of his brother’s HEA. When she shows up at his office the next day looking for his brother, he has questions, he’s jealous without reason, and you know you’ve again met the woman meant for one of Ms Jones’s alpha males. It isn’t long before you find out that Abbie needs an attorney because her ex is after the property she took with her as a result of their divorce. To what end remains a mystery, but he’s aligned with cutthroat people, and they are people that Gabe’s brother Reid knows well and in particular a man both brother’s know well... Their father.

This one ends in a cliffhanger and too many secrets remain for me to feel satisfied at this point. This is the only one of Ms Jones’s titles I would have rather seen released as a singular book. The next title releases tomorrow... It’s already pre-ordered, and I know how I am spending my day...

I received an ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Chance meeting at a bar.
Gabe is a auccessful, sexy as heck attorney ( who , btw, we have met in a previous book). Abbie is in need of an attorney to get away from her billionaire husband.
This is one hot, sex infused book.

This author’s writing style never disappoints me. She can tell a story and keep the intrigue going chapter after chapter. This is no exception.

Recently I’ve seen the trend of duets where a whole book could have been published instead. I know it’s to get the reader to buy the second one since the trend is also for 200 page books when they used to be 400 pages. But it is still disappointing when you know that the story won’t really end on the last page. I’ve got too many things going on to really remember how the story ended when the next one isn’t available for months.

Overall a well told story about two people who want control of their lives. Add in some steamy scenes and relationship issues – real life stuff. Great characters and definitely a cliff hanger!

This book was one of the biggest wastes of time. I was already very frustrated with the 50+ pages of reminiscing about the sex we had, thinking of the sex we are going to be having and the kissing for no damn reason. OMG, How much looking into someone's eyes and then kissing them passionately, can someone have? Apparently, the limit does not exist. I endured all of the this, trying to find out the secret that kinda does, but not really sort of, kind of is being kept. But guess what the book cuts off. Seriously?? This was not even worth it. You could have taken out 50 pages of eye-sex for a conclusion.

This book was equal parts frustrating and exhausting. Though the premise is good, there is very little actual story. Most of the book is pages and pages of internal dialog, Gabe and Abbie talking about their feelings, and sex, which to the author's credit, was hot and steamy. Throughout the book Abbie goes back and forth on if she's even willing to pursue their connection. I lost count of how many times she went from "I'm completely in" to "I have to walk away to protect him".I spent most of the first 25% of the book just waiting for them to leave his apartment so something besides sex and talking would happen. Then, when it finally starts to get interesting, it ends on a cliffhanger. Although I'm mildly curious how it all turns out, it's not enough to read another book, especially since I had to force myself to finish this one in hopes of some kind of payoff. In less you're a fan of long, introspective stories with no resolution, I would skip this book.

I loved His Demand. I've read Lisa Renee Jones's books before. This is the first book in Gabe and Abbie's story “His Demand” Dirtier Duet series. This is a standalone and you don't have to read any of the prior books to follow the storyline. This book is a cliffhanger so be prepared to have to wait for the conclusion.
Gabe is a man-whore, he’s never going to fall in love and get married, that is until he meets Abbie. Abbie is in a dangerous situation with her ex husband and needs legal help. She complicates her situation because she’s not forthcoming.
They both have dark pasts and trust issues. They have a lot of angst and chemistry in their relationship. Abbie was driving me crazy with wanting to run all the time! Gabe is arrogant but sweet.
This story is suspenseful, sexy and exciting.
The book ends in a cliffhanger so be prepared to have to wait for the conclusion. Characters and story line were fantastic.
Overall this is a great read by an amazing author. Looking forward to the conclusion.
Thank you #netgalley

Abbie and Gabe's eyes meet across a bar one night. They are instantly attracted to each other. In the hallway to the bathroom, they see each other. Abbie pulls him in for a tantalizing kiss but then leaves before he can find out who this beautiful redhead is. The next day, he sees her in his office building and learns she was there hoping to see his brother and partner in their law firm. Again, she disappears before he can meet her, but it isn't long before he finds her and the reason she needs the services of the brothers. Seems her wealthy and dangerous ex-husband is out to get the one thing she took away from their marriage. She isn't willing to let it go and that puts her life in danger. Gabe and Reid agree to help her. The problem is, she and Gabe both have secrets they aren't willing to share, even though their attraction to each other is strong and undeniable. Gabe doesn't do relationships and Abbie doesn't want a relationship after being burned by her ex. The sexual attraction they share is not something they can stay away from. There are a lot of secrets, sexual angst and danger in this thriller taking the reader on a roller coaster ride that is exciting and unexpected. This book is a cliffhanger and the first book in a duo, so be prepared to have to wait for the conclusion of this amazingly exciting book..

Gabe feels lost after his brothers wedding and they leave for their honeymoon. But entering the bar looking for something he has no clue what he will really find.

Abigail running from her ex husband and needing Gabe’s brothers help and not looking for anything more but when she spots Gabe in the bar the attraction she feels is so strong. When he follows her to the bathroom and they share a kiss she realizes has her feeling more than she has ever felt before. But when she realizes it’s Reid’s brother and she needs their help she tries to ignore the attraction. Gabe on the other hand is all in to explore the attraction and help her with her exhusband. But do they both have too many secrets in their past to ruin it all. Has Abigail been burned to bad to ever trust again? Believe me you don’t want to miss Abigail’s and Gabe’s store. But hang on for the ride because once you think it is all figured out we are left wondering what just happened! Can’t wait for book 2. Book given to me by author on netgalley

Gabe Maxwell is ruthless, which is a good trait for an attorney you want on your side. And when you start to fall for him but only want to protect him the tenacity can work against you. Abbie needs help, but she doesn't expect the connection she instantly feels for Gabe. To further complicate her already overloaded life he's one of the few people who can help her fight her ex. With them still defining what "they" are danger continues to lurk in the shadows.

This book is a must read. Gabe is sexy and rich. Abbie is strong but has been through a painful relationship and does not trust very easily. She goes to Gabe's brother for help but instead she gets both of them to help her. Gabe is the type when he wants something he goes after it. And man is that sexy. He wants her, she wants him but is not on the trusting side yet. I cannot wait until the next book. This left me on a cliffhanger and I need to know what happens next. Love this book. Highly recommend it.

I'd rate this at a 3.5 stars.

This book started out so well, I literally started looking up other books by Lisa Renee Jones, saw that my library didn't carry them and then felt like buying every one. As you can guess, the feeling didn't last.

Premise is simple: Gabe's a crazy rich lawyer and a player (or man slut, if you prefer).
Abby's a lawyer being harassed by her crazy rich ex-husband. Why is he harassing her? The lady's explanations aren't fully honest.
They kiss at a coffeeshop. Don't see each other for days (weeks?) until she comes to his office to hire his brother to resolve a property dispute.

He likes her because she's the first woman who has intrigued him in years. I'm unclear on why she likes him-- maybe because he's handsome, funny and alpha-ish?

The first hundred pages work because you get a clear idea of them and she comes off as strong and interesting. It's also steamy, which makes for a fun read.

Then we dive into the main issue, which is that her ex-husband harasses her by trying to take over a piece of property that her mother uses for her animal shelter.
Then we realize that our lawyer heroine hasn't really worked in years while she helped her mother at the animal shelter.
Then we see Gabe doing useful things to help the heroine, why simultaneously (and justifiably) constantly questioning her on why her ex-husband is so intent on this property. Then we get into the endless tug of war of his asking her questions, her refusing to answer and offering to break up with him, and him telling her she can't and won't break up with him. She's reduced to whiny and not very strong/interesting. He's reduced to...I'm not sure what, but he's operating on a loop of complain-question-bang, repeat.

It's tedious to the extreme by then, and when the book is over, I was over it.

One note: I'm not obsessive about consent in books, i.e.I don't need the male character to ask the heroine at every step if she wants to keep going in the bedroom. But this book skirts a real line. There are multiple times Gabe tells Abby she can say no, she does, and he keeps overriding her, justifying continuing, and talking her into things she doesn't seem into. (Granted, one she does them, she seems plenty into it).

That said, this book is overall very well written, and it's worth it for the first hundred pages.

This is the first of a duet and it definitely leaves you wanting more! Lisa writes such in depth characters that you love them and hate them. She gets you invested and now I want more!

It is no secret that LRJ is one of my favorite authors, shes a auto-buy. So when I was asked to review this gem, I couldn't say no. Like most of her novels, Gabe and Addie are hot-to-trot., their chemistry jumps from the pages! Demand is full of what you want and need in a novel. The hero, is one that goes for what he wants, strong and powerful, but what is shocking is the side of him that Addie brings out. Now onto Addie, who from the start I knew something was off about her, but I couldn't place my finger on it. But in Gabe's presence she cant resist. One kiss and shes under his spell. Though her instincts tell her to run for the hills. Together they are a match.

I can't wait to read book two to find out all the things that the first book makes you question. I kept this short without going into major spoilers.

Thank you to the author, Netgalley and publisher for the ARC in place of a honest review!
