Atavar's Being Creative was an interesting introduction to creativity with exercises to get you started. If you've read extensively about the subject, you might already be acquainted with a lot of the content. If you're new, it's a good place to start. This book was archived before I could review it at the time, but since I'm still able to give feedback I thought I would.
Due to a passing in the family a few years ago and my subsequent health issues stemming from that, I was unable to download this book in time to review it before it was archived as I did not visit this site for years after the bereavement. Thank you for the opportunity.
Being Creative: Be inspired. Unlock your originality 20 thought-provoking lessons by Michael Atavar wants to teach you to be creative, and gives you tools and tips for being more creative, and not being overwhelmed.
This is a great book if you feel like you could do more, and just need some help to see how. There are ideas about how to use a process for creativity, and suggestions for challenges and problems you could face. This is a bright, stylish book, laid out in a way to make the ideas feel achievable.

Being Creative: Be inspired. Unlock your originality by Michael Atavar was good and very helpful. Thank you NetGalley!
'Being Creative: Be inspired. Unlock your originality' by Michael Atavar is part of the Build+Become series and may be the most unconventional book on creativity I've yet read.
This book is broken in to 20 ideas and exercises. Using a series of drawings to aid in memory, the book takes the journey from getting the spark of an idea through finalizing the project. The ideas include things like random writing in a journal or rearranging printouts from a printer among others. There are lots of ways to get uncomfortable and jar creativity loose.
I liked this book's approach to a subject I've studied. The ideas here seem like they'd help me tap in to some creative ideas, and I liked a creativity book that felt a bit different.
I received a review copy of this ebook from Quarto Publishing Group - Aurum Press and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Thank you for allowing me to review this ebook.
This book is alright for a beginner that hasnt read these types of books before, but was pretty typical of what you would find.
In this book, the author has 20 tools that creatives can use to inspire creativity. The author states that this works for all manner of creativity, but I can definitely see that it would be particularly beneficial for writers, as most of the exercises do involve some writing. The book is divided into five sections: beginning, processes, how to keep going, methods, and ending. Each of these sections has four tools, and the tools themselves have a couple of exercises as well as insight by the author. It is definitely a book that gets you thinking about creativity and can certainly free your mind to look at the world in new ways. The explanations that go along with the tools give much food for thought about the world and the creative process. I play music and write as my creative outlets, and while some of the tools were familiar to me, others were not, but I could see their usefulness. I look forward to working with these tools now and in the future.
This was a really interesting, engaging read. Based upon 20 key lessons that seek to engage with some of the key debates around creativity today, this book encourages the reader to explore, reflect upon and apply some of these key lessons. There are times when it felt very cliched but it was interesting nonetheless.
A book packed with exercises to foster your creativity, and full of other resources such as further readings and festivals, galleries, museums... you can visit to keep being the creative you are.
Being Creative is a book I requested on NetGalley but have since seen in the library - it is a really interesting book concept. Being Creative is set up as 20 'thought provoking' lessons on how to awaken your creativity. The book doesn't get you to define what you are being creative in but rather helps spark that creativity.
The page layout and book set up is amazing. I really enjoyed how the page flows, you have a introduction of a concept and then you are prompted with an exercise. Also the graphic design of the book is so simply but effective. Being Creative is part of a series and if you see one of them, I would recommend giving them a look!
I loved this book. I've always loved being creative and this book shows your different ways. It helps open your mind to something new.
Great book with really thought-provoking insights. Took me a while to get through because I wanted to savor each and every tidbit. Love the creative setup too - very good with typography and layout. Highly recommend!
This is a good resource for anyone trying to push or grow on their creative abilities.
Full Of tips and tricks and useful exercises all in one place.
I feel this could be a useful tool for many people. But could also not be enough for those who have looked at creative exercises before.
I voluntarily read and reviewed this book. All opinions are my own.
Thanks, Netgalley and the publishers of the book for this opportunity to read it in exchange for an honest review!
For a book packed with creative exercises and workbook like quests, it was a joy to read and take part in the majority of the exercises provided, although not all for me however even the ones I did not partake in were interesting and would probably suit other creative minds.
There were some aspects of this creative book that you would usually see in others, but it was still a fun, enjoyable read and something nice to take part in.
I adore this book. I was sceptical about it being able to help me access any sort of well of creativity, but I was hugely mistaken! The exercises are really easy so I actually committed to doing them and I really felt that I was unlocking my creativity and, perhaps more importantly, my confidence.
Thank you so much Michael for writing such a wonderful book. I hope it flies off the shelves.
I was looking for a bit of creative spark and this book sure helped enthuse me. Full of great tips and advice, I really enjoyed scrolling through and seeing what jumped out at me. Thanks for the opportunity to read and review.
Thank you Netgalley for allowing me to read this book in exchange for an honest review! I have to tell you I am a sucker for workbook type books. I love books that give me "assignments" and exercises. They truly make me feel like I am learning something and in this case "Being Creative." Very Colorful, Fun. Definitely worth reading if you are like me and do not have a creative bone in your body.
Unfortunately, I did not find this book to be overly original. I think that I already heard all of these tips, exercises etc.
However, the thing that was driving me crazy (mainly because I was reading this on a screen) was the yellow designs on black. The brightness was on the minimum and I have a screen filter but it was still a bit hurtful. I would very much appreciate if the visual part of this book was re-done.
But the organisation of this book is rather well-done!
This book has fun creative ideas. I enjoyed reading and looking through it. I will be using this as resources adnd will be looking through it again to get more ideas.Thank you NetGalley.
I did like some of the ideas put out in this book, but again with this series the graphs/imagery had put me off. The writing in this one I actually did like. The points made in this book and the references seem to be okay places to continue on if interested.
