I've always loved the mother/daughter duo penning this series, and the daughter is proving to be quite formidable on her own. I thoroughly enjoyed this book, and view it as one of the best -- if not THE best -- of the Tracy offerings. Gripping, suspenseful plot with some of the most diabolical villains I've ever encountered in the mystery/thriller genre. A few eye-opening moments that snuck up on and surprised me, which doesn't happen often. This is definitely a book to put on your "must read" list.

Minneapolis detectives Magozzi and Rolseth have caught the gruesome murder of a woman found dead in a vacant house. The victim appears to have a slightly checkered past and the detectives wonder if the art gallery the woman visited shortly before her death, which has violent and disturbing images on display, may have played a role in her murder. Using Monkeewrench software and its team to help unravel digital clues, the team uncovers a connection to other murders. Tracy does a good job combining traditional policing with modern high-tech methods. The series reminds me of the UK television series Silent Witness (without the autopsies)

Thank you NetGalley and Crooked Lane Books for this arc.

I've enjoyed the Monkeewrench books from the beginning even though the previous book (#9) didn't have the same "edge" that I've come to expect. But Ice Cold Heart (#10) brings it back.... that feeling of imminent and threatening menace is present from the beginning. The story moved along quickly in spite of the complex story lines running throughout. Nice and complex and very, very twisty -- kinda like curly fries. All the usual characters were present and accounted for. This is still very focused on Leo and Grace, but Roadrunner plays a starring role in this one as well. Hope to see more of Petra in future books as I found her intriguing.

I received a city of this novel from the publisher via NetGalley.

I remember being disappointed by the last instalment, but this one was back on form. It was perhaps 60% Gino/Magozzi and 40% Monkeewrench and the strands were well entwined together (if you accept the extraordinary coincidence of the two cases turning out to be linked yet again!) The weakest sections for me were those featuring Roadrunner's love interest, who did not behave like an ICE agent at all.

The ending got a bit complex (I'm still not quite sure what was going on with the virtual currency), but the action carried me through to the end.

P. J. Tracy's Monkeewrench novels have been on my "auto-buy" list since the first book. I love the characters; including the secondary characters. I did not, however, love Ice Cold Heart. I still love the characters - probably more than ever, but this story, IMO, went into way too much technical stuff that a lot of readers (including me) are not going to "get" or even care about. I realize that with the Monkeewrench gang being who they are and what they do there is always going to be the computer/tech stuff that they do, and I have always enjoyed it until this particular book. Truthfully, if it weren't for the characters and some VERY nice things happening to some of them, I probably would not have finished it. But. I remain a fan and am already looking forward to the next entry. Thank you for the opportunity to read and review this book. Still giving it 4 stars because of Leo, Gino (and the rest of their crew), Annie, Grace, Harley and Roadrunner - they are unbeatable

This book was something a little bit different and I enjoyed the mystery behind it all. The characters were real and gritty. This book is guaranteed to keep you on the edge of your seat throughout the whole book.
