Andi is made out to be this badass female protagonists who's always ready to fight and break some bones, but we dont see that backed up with as much action as I would have liked. We do however get to see her not being afraid to voice her opinions or head into danger for her friends. I do wish Andis crew hadnt been absent for most of the book. I seriously missed those girls and the lack of female friendships was especially disappointing considering how I felt about Dex. I thought it was stupid and unfair of him to keep a secret that concerns Andi from her. That secret wasnt his to keep and it has the potential to severely mess up her life if she doesnt have that crucial information in a dangerous situation. I also wasnt a fan of the way he tried to make decisions for her when she was healing. He needs to trust or at least respect her ability to make her own decisions even if it isnt one he agrees with. I just didnt care for him or the romance all that much.
I thought Nor was a complexe and compelling villain. I loved that we get to understand where her decisions are coming from and get to see her as more than just evil. She has people in her life she truly cares about and dreams of making a better life for her people. Valen is so devoted to Nor that it almost felt like he was under her compulsion. I never understood why he thought so highly of her especially since she had him imprisoned. Maybe he was broken beyond repair in that prison or maybe he's tempted by the idea of having family that cares about him. I just have a difficult time picturing him being led so easily by Nors plans without questionning if what they're doing might be wrong. He grew up among those people afterall. The reveal of Arachnid identity was a pretty awesome, but I still dont understand why if they knew what Nor was up to they didn't try to stop her at any point in the last couple years.
I was a little worried Id forgotten too much of Zenith to enjoy this sequel, but it did a great job of weaving the important facts from the first book into the story. The plot took a while to get exciting with only one action scene in the first 250 pages. I feel like it could have been shortened since the plot doesnt really start to move along until they make contact with the other rebels. The first book was more gripping and that might be because the stakes were more intense. The characters are still in danger in this sequel, but for the most part its wasnt as immediate or pressing. The plot was a little convenient at times, but nothing that I hindered my enjoyment. There were quite a few moments that took me by surprise. Despite knowing which side was clearly in the wrong, I found myself rooting for both the side trying to free the galaxy from the invasive compulsion and the side causing it.
The world was mesmerizing with its floating moutains, glittering underground city, and fierce ice dragon. I also loved the different planets and alien species. After the few snippets we got in the first book I was really looking forward to exploring the other galaxy some more, but we dont get to see as much of it as I was hoping. Theres not much futuristic technology so readers who dont typically read scifi should have an easy time understanding it. The writing had quite a few lines that tried to be iconic, but missed the mark because they werent accurate or followed up with some action. Dont get me wrong I love a good iconic line, but don't say "the bloody baroness is out to play" if she isnt actually going to be a badass in the next scenes. That was just a minor issue though and for the most part the writing was fine. Overall Im glad I finished up the duology.
I received a copy of this book from the publisher for an honest review, which will be posted on my Goodreads page as well. I am a little late finishing so this is going up at the end of the month instead of the beginning when the book was released.
Androma Racella is The Bloody Baroness, the most hated and feared space pirate of the Mirabel Galaxy. She flies across the galaxy causing as much havoc as she and her all female crew can. In this sequel she is separated from her crew and needs to rescue them and the rest of the galaxy from the evil Queen Nor who took over at the end of Zenith.
I'm sitting here trying to come up with a way to begin this review on a high note, but I just can't. The first fifty percent of this book was just so slow and I didn't care. Andi was making stupid choices and she had a one track mind to rescue the girls. Nor was a wholly unconvincing villain, she was bland, all her villainy was questionable, I didn't understand her love interest. I was just confused.
Somehow, though, the second half made me finish. All of the same stuff was happening but somehow the book was going faster and the plot at least picked up. The second half brought the book up to a three star and maybe even a three and a half.
I was actually really shocked by how much I enjoyed this book! It's not close to a favorite read of mine but it was significantly better than Zenith. I thought the authors did a fantastic job with the world building, character development, and overall structure of the story. It was a very quick and entertaining read despite the daunting size!
One of the best qualities of Nexus was the pacing. The story was easy to devour in only a few short hours. The writing struck a perfect balance between detail and action! One thing about the storytelling itself that bothered me was how different the voices of the characters were. I mean, it's a great thing to have characters sound different, that's huge but they sounded so different it felt like I was reading different books. They didn't flow together well. Because of this I found myself skim reading some POVs while hungrily devouring the rest like I was absorbed into this dramatic emotional space opera.
I had mixed feelings about the direction the characters took. I actually loved the development of Andi and Dax's personalities. With them as more of the focus characters in the book I found myself beginning to appreciate them a lot more! Since I just mentioned Andi and Dax. . . let's talk about that romance for a minute! It was so cute! The flirty banter felt completely organic for these two and I was dying for them to just kiss already. The chemistry was perfection.
When all is said and done this book was a fun read. It was quick, heart breaking, and full of charm. It does a fantastic job on expanding on the world introduced in Zenith and does a better job exploring the Mirabell Galaxy.
This book was a definite improvement from Zenith, and I think it's great that they took into consideration the problems that fans saw in the first book. It was a great conclusion to the saga and look forward to reading more of their writing.
This book was received as an ARC from the publisher and NetGalley, in exchange for an honest review. Opinions and thoughts expressed in this review are completely my own

This is a great continuation story. Nexus was a perfect ending to this saga and I really hope that Alsberg and Cummings (and the publisher) decide to give us more of these characters and this universe.
Nexus picks right up where Zenith ended. Andi has been wounded, she’s lost her crew, her ship is half destroyed, and one of her only allies is her ex. Nor Solis has taken over the universe and is using her brother’s compulsion abilities to make everyone think that she is her queen. Valen, wanting to please his sister, is slowly destroying himself. Dex just wants the girl he loves safe, but she keeps throwing herself in harm’s way. Slowly, all of their stories mesh together and each one has an interesting tie to an enemy/ally named Arachnid. What happens in this story is some of the most creative storytelling that I’ve ever read. Alsberg and Cummings left me wanting more at the end of every chapter and I couldn’t believe that it was over when I finished.
I loved this continuation of Andi’s story. Truly, she’s the centerpiece. Unfortunately, that’s horrible for her, but great reading for us. Andi really has no clue what has happened and Dex is left to fill in the pieces, but he just wants to keep her safe. I really enjoyed their story arc in this book. It was interesting to see what would happen due to some events of the first book. They really have a great friendship and partnership. I loved the ending that they got.
Again, I was blown away by the world building that Alsberg and Cummings created. We get to see a whole Underground civilization, more of the worlds mentioned in the first book, and also see the destruction of worlds that we had already seen. They really did a great job of keeping the continuity within both books and expanding what they had already written.
Nexus was honestly such a great read. I can’t wait to read it again!! Alsberg and Cummings have created such a fun space saga where the events within the books are unpredictable. I couldn’t believe the twists in this story when I read them. Nexus will definitely keep you reading and I didn’t want it to end
I really hope this is one you’ll add to your reading list. I’m adding it again on to mine!
The Bloody Baroness, Androma Racella, is stranded in deep space.
Her ship, Marauder, was almost reduced to ashes in the galaxy, her crew has been captured, and she is marooned on the ice planet of Solera with Dextro Arez.
Still, Andi's spirit burns brighter than ever. She will stop at nothing to save her crew and galaxy even if it must cost her the ultimate sacrifice.
The writing style was more developed than Zenith which allowed Sasha and Lindsay's individual narrative to flourish in Nexus. The multiple P.O.V's (points of view) allowed space for Andi, Dex, Nor, and Valen's character development and immersement in the Nexus universe. There were some great plot twists sprinkled throughout the story and while I'm not one for spoilers, I will warn you: be prepared for Arachnid *major plot twist*! In the overall plot, however, there are places where readers inevitably feel that basic communication would have resolved the major conflicts.
Altogether, Nexus neatly wrapped up all the frayed edges and questions from Zenith in an unforgettable adventure through the galaxies. Sasha Alsberg and Lindsay Cummings seem to have traveled from the far reaches of the galaxy to deliver this epic conclusion to readers.
I was given an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
This book is an action-packed science fiction adventure and is told through multiple points of views. It features strong female characters, mind control, and invasion by alien races.
The characters were really interesting but I don't think that they were developed enough. They didn't grow or change from the last book. I would've really liked to see more from the characters interacting together too. Most of the crew is separated and therefore we didn't really get any cute moments of them together.
The plot was also a little underdeveloped. Still, the story was fast paced and managed to keep my attention.
The ending seemed slightly rushed but it did end in a satisfying way. If you enjoyed the first book, you should pick this one up too.
Thank you to NetGalley, the author, and the publisher for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Just like its predecessor Nexus is an action packed science fiction adventure. Nexus started right where Zenith left off. and still has the multiple POV`s. I quite like both Zenith and Nexus I find they are the perfect blockbuster read. Just like summer blockbuster movies. which is my favourite part of the books very thrilling and fast paced. Now with that being said I do find some things that lacked in Zenith and carried into Nexus. For one there seems to be a lot of plot holes in this action packed book I felt there were a lot of unanswered questions that would have helped make sense to the story. Also I find that just like Zenith, Nexus had unnecessary multiple POV's that I find help take me away from the story having to switch to so many characters thoughts. I will admit that the POV's were an improvement in part two than part one. (Part one I found that some POV's were completely unnecessary since they were all in the same room/situation as the predecessor POV.) but still not enough for me to not take note. I did like that Andi made some serious character development she definitely grew as a character even if some of the other characters who had opportunity and I was hoping for more insight did not I also liked that I didn't see some of the plot twists. and that they were exceptionally well executed. But just like Andromeda Cycle part one Nexus fell into the same instances. More pomp than substance.
Overall Nexus is a good blockbuster book but just like Andromeda Cycle part one Nexus fell into the same instances. More pomp than substance.
This was a great sequel and somewhat surpassed my expectations! I will say, the writing and plot are a little under-developed and in that sense it matches book 1, but I believe that if some more editing was done before it were published, a lot of the issues could have been fixed. The story was fast paced and kept my attention... the way the entire duo logy ended was extremely satisfying and for that reason I enjoyed it!
Nexus is a story about secrets, girl power, and redemption.
I’ve heard a LOT about the Androma Saga thanks to bloggers and YouTubers, but I never had any interested in reading them myself.
Once the blog tour for Nexus was announced, I decided to give the books a try and sign up! I will admit that I never finished Zenith, but I was still able to follow the story and didn’t feel overly confused. I’m very excited and plan on finishing the whole series as soon as possible!!
First and foremost… let’s talk about this cover. It’s sooo gorgeous!! I’m obviously a huge fan of blue, and this cover is perfect for my aesthetic. I also love the purple + blue theme going on between Zenith and Nexus!
Problem is… the world didn’t feel unique?? I’m not the biggest fan of Sci-Fi for this very reason. I’m a huge Star Wars geek, so I’m very critical of other Sci-Fi worlds? They just feel very similar, and unfortunately, Nexus was no exception.
I loved the villains. Being the Slytherin that I am, I love characters who are complex or have a lot of internal conflicts. The book had the POVs of both villains, so it was really neat to get inside their head. Once the story kept developing, we really get to see their perspective, which I always love!
Overall, the story lacked development. While it was an exciting, suspenseful story, it felt very episodic and didn’t do anything to develop the overall story. It didn’t seem like the characters (minus the villains) had changed in any way.
Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for providing me with the ARC. I thought the writing was better in this book than the first and overall I enjoyed the reading experience! Congrats to Sasha and Lindsay on this series! :)
*I WAS PROVIDED A PHYSICAL COPY FOR THE PURPOSES OF THIS TOUR. THIS DOESN’T AFFECT MY OPINION*
There was something both heartbreaking and exciting about this book that I still can’t get over and won’t be over for a very long time.
Nexus brought back all the memories of Zenith, something I was excited to see after being away from the story and the characters. It was an immediate catchup to what occurred during the last novel and the characters we lost and/or just barely made it out with.
Something I really loved about this novel was the differing attitudes. I love that each character had a different set of attitudes and wasn’t just stuck to being the “try-hard” or “the wannabe, bad queen.” Each of them had multiple roles to play, and I think that was really vital to the formation of the story.
Another thing I loved was the multiple plot twists we were given. And because I’m known for predicting plot twists, I wasn’t as hit or surprised by them, but I still really enjoyed their additions.
However, one thing that really got to me was just how many POVs we were given. I’m not against multiple POVs in any way, shape, or form, but I felt there were just too many happening in this book. I felt like, through some of the chapters, we were just seeing repeat information or filler chapters.
Another thing that kind of got to me was the kind of choppy ending we were given. It seemed like it was very rushed and just thrown together, and I was a little let down by it.
Other than that, though, I did really love this book. I’ve been waiting a LONG time for this book, and I’m so glad I was given the opportunity to read it early and review it for FFBC Tours. For everything listed, I rate Nexus 3.75 stars. I look forward to whatever the authors release next, and I do suggest y’all pick up this read.
If you're looking for your next high stakes scifi read, you've found it here! Nexus is a great finale to the epic story that started with Zenith. I hope everyone enjoys this book as much as I did!
So this was a lot better than the first book, and I really enjoyed the first book. I thought the action and plot were stronger in this book, and I really liked the pacing. Also can we appreciate the cover, gorgeous. All in all this was a fun and entertaining read!
Great follow up to the first book, this had me on the edge of my seat the whole time! I love Andi and the rest of her crew and i am sad to see the series end.
It’s been over a year since I read Zenith, so I didn’t remember all the details from the first part of this story. However, Nexus is written in such a way to all the important details came back to me quite easily and I had no trouble following the story what so ever. Nexus starts pretty soon after the events of Zenith and I thought the first couple of chapters were pretty fast paced. Around 30% the story was a bit slower and it took me longer to read the middle part because of that. But once we hit the 60% mark or so I couldn’t put the book down anymore and I had to keep on reading to find out how it all ended.
I enjoyed the story a lot and think most of it was very well done. The ending went a little bit too fast for my taste but I was very happy how it was all resolved. It was a pretty neat ending with a little bit of sacrifice thrown in. Like Zenith it wasn’t super unique or anything but it was definitely enjoyable. What I did miss this time around was the group of girlfriends being badass together. Andi and her crew are separated so we hardly see them together during Nexus and that was really something I missed. I think that sense of sisterhood was one of the strongest parts of Zenith I hoped to read more of that.
Valen and Nor have really grown on me and I adored their sibling relationship. It was so great to read about them and I think they were my favorites in this installment. I think they were really well developed and while they went about basically everything the wrong way, I did kinda root for them haha. Darai however was super annoying and I just kept wishing he would die!
Dex was another annoying character and I do not care for him one bit. He once again seemed like a failed typical YA hero and it just wasn’t well done. I don’t mind unlikable characters but he just didn’t bring anything to the table and felt off. Andi wasn’t a great character either in Nexus to be honest, I just didn’t really care for her. There wasn’t anything really wrong but I simply didn’t care. The side characters we got to see however, I did really like and I would’ve loved to read more about most of them! They brought a lighter tone to the story and I liked them more than Andi and Dex 😉
All in all an enjoyable read, I would definitely recommend this YA scifi duology to anyone that just likes to read scifi every now and then. It’s an easy read for scifi newbies and in my opinion a very enjoyable one. The first one really focused on female friendships and Nexus has more of a focus on siblings. I’m giving this enjoyable read 3,5 stars.
First, many thanks to The Fantastic Flying Book Club for having me on this blog tour and Harlequin Teen for sending me a finished copy of the book for review.
Guys. This is a great continuation story. Nexus was a perfect ending to this saga and I really hope that Alsberg and Cummings (and the publisher) decide to give us more of these characters and this universe.

It was interesting to see what would happen due to some events of the first book. They really have a great friendship and partnership. I loved the ending that they got.
I also think that Lira, Andi’s second really got some spotlight in this book. But Lira’s view also gave us some understanding of what was happening while under the compulsion. It really was great to be able to look back at the first book and see the differences of thought between normal Lira and under-compulsion Lira. I think it brought a depth into these books that we might not have gotten otherwise. It really brought the danger of Valen’s power into focus.
Again, I was blown away by the world building that Alsberg and Cummings created. We get to see a whole Underground civilization, more of the worlds mentioned in the first book, and also see the destruction of worlds that we had already seen. Nexus was honestly such a great read. I can’t wait to read it again!! Alsberg and Cummings have created such a fun space saga where the events within the books are unpredictable. I couldn’t believe the twists in this story when I read them. Nexus will definitely keep you reading and I didn’t want it to end. Nexus releases May 7th (this coming Tuesday). I really hope this is one you’ll add to your reading list. I’m adding it again on to mine!
First of all, stare at this cover with me for a moment. 🤩 It’s so gorgeous, isn’t it?! Like I said before, I really enjoyed Zenith so I went into Nexus with some expectations on how it would be. I think I marked a TW/CW or two in Goodreads but, naturally, I’m not able to access them from the app.
I was pretty excited to get back to my favourite space pirate girl gang! The characters didn’t get much development in this one, but I have to think that’s because this is the second book in a duology and definitely not a standalone. Gilly is still my fave with her red hair and fiery soul. Keep destroying things, girl!
Since most of the world was built up so well in Zenith, I wasn’t sure what to expect world building wise from Nexus. There are three world locations that are built up a bit more in this one and they’re all done in a way that’s incredibly immersive. I found myself having trouble pulling my mind out of them, which was both awesome and a little scary sometimes. Either way, the world building is definitely A++!
Nexus started a bit slowly and it was a little tough for me to get into at first. It did pick up around 1/4 of the way in, but I had to really make myself keep going until I got there. After that quarter, however, the story flowed relatively nicely straight through to the end, which wrapped up all the loose bits of story beautifully. There was one thing I was super disappointed about though: how little time on the page Androma, Lira, Breck, and Gilly got to spend together. The thing I liked most about Zenith was the amazing dynamic between Androma and her crew and that just wasn’t there for like 98% of this book.
I did really enjoy Nexus and I’m happy with where it left off, I just wish there was more page time for my space girl gang to be together in all their glory. I do enjoy Sasha Alsburg’s and Lindsay Cummings’s writing styles so I’ll definitely be on the lookout for their other work!
Overall, I rate Nexus 3.5 out of 5 bookworms.
Nexus by Sasha Alsberg & Lindsay Cummings is the second book in The Androma Saga. The story kicks off with the aftermath of the events that happened in Zenith. The reader is back on Marauder. Andi is healing from her injuries. Zenith had so much world building that I was hoping we could move on in book two. I feel like all we did was get even more detailed world building. There is so much that the reader knows more about the world than about the characters.
The characters don't really grow in this book at all. They stay pretty stagnant. I would really like to see more from Androma and her crew. We don't get to see enough of them interacting together. That is the biggest thing that is really lacking in this book. Here we have a gang of girl pirates but I feel like I know very little about them. My biggest hope is that this will continue to improve and get better.
This book came across a bit better than Zenith but I still don't think it hit the mark for me. The characters were written a lot better in this book but I still felt like it was a bit forced. With this being book tow, I was hoping that the book would be a bit more polished but I didn't' see that. I felt like it took awhile for Nexus to pick up and become just the slightest bit interesting. If you liked Zenith, you should obviously pick this one up and check it out. As always don't take my word for it, you should check out the book for yourself.
Because it was a sequel for Zenith - a book I've absolutely loved - I had some high expectations for NEXUS. I'm glad to say it exceeded them.
This YA space opera checks all the boxes: strong female characters, galaxy-wide mind control, family drama, a falling apart space ship, mass invasion by alien races, a ferocious cat-beast named Havoc, and a super villain in the style of Senator Palpatine. It is everything I didn't know I needed to read. The characters are amazingly original. The emotions and descriptions are so well-written. It really felt like I was there! It's a must-read for fans of YA or science fiction.
