I loved the twist of having 2 novels in one in The Bromance Book Club. Following Benedict & Irena's story along with Gavin's and Thea's was a unique story device that I have never seen before. The dual perspective also made the book interesting and loved the idea of men using romance novels as inspiration for their own lives. I have a suspicion that this isn't the last we will see of the book club members and I hope we get to see future books about their lives. I did struggle with Thea's character until close to the end when you start to really understand the root of her fears and problems. Until that turn it's hard to sympathize with her since Gavin is trying so hard and getting little in return. This is a book that you read and want to discuss with your girlfriends in the hopes that you'll find your own Gavin who bends over backwards to woo you. Lots of fun and a fresh take on getting a second chance at love.

I LOVED THIS BOOK! What an amazing surprise. Second chance romances are my favorite and this one was amazing.

I just loved Thea and Gavin and Gavin’s attempts to win his wife back and fix their marriage. The guys were so awesome with the reading of the romance novels and their advice to Gavin on how to fix things. The fact that there were guys who were not afraid to read romance novels or get in touch with their feelings in order to save their marriages was incredibly sweet and it made me so happy. I also started to wish the romance novel within the book was a real book. Ha. I loved the characters in this book and how they were two people who made mistakes, but obviously loved each other. The character growth was phenomenal. There was so much baggage on both sides and I loved how they worked through their issues and their backstories. The ending was just absolutely perfect. I have no complaints about this book! I will be reading more from this author for sure.

I adored this book SO much! It had all the humor, friendships, romance and showed the work to the couple’s HEA.

We start from Gavin’s POV, where he’s shaken to his core to find out his wife has been faking the Big O for their entire marriage. he does not handle it well and his wife, Thea ask for a divorce.

As Nashville Legends second baseman, he’s put his all into the game but thought he had a solid marriage. He’s stunned by Thea’s revelation but is sure he can get her back but of course goes abut it all wrong and pushes her further away.

His teammates see him fumbling along and bring him into their secret club where they read romance novels to learn what the women in their lives want, need and use them to help communicate better.

Oh man, did I love Gavin’s friends and their willingness to help him but also to see things from Thea’s pov. The romance book club could have been used as a gimmick – and it does make for a lot of laughs – but it never stoops to making fun of the genre or it’s readers. This aspect was so brilliantly done that I hope it somehow sweeps the nation and becomes a thing in marriage counseling/communication. Not to mention how well it tackles misogyny and toxic masculinity without missing a beat or getting preachy.

The club chooses a Regency title called, Courting the Countess, for Gavin and excerpts from this story alternated between Gavin and Thea’s chapters – giving a blueprint for how things went wrong and how they could move forward.

Gavin is so clearly a good guy and husband who still adores his wife. If I had a nitpick it would be with this. He’s so awesome (and introduced to the reader first) that Thea comes off as too harsh. But once you get to know her better, she’s someone I think we can all relate to. They married quickly after her pregnancy and she was swept up into Gavin’s lifestyle and being a mom that she lost most of what made her Thea.

She grudgingly let’s Gavin move back in but only to prove that it’s over and they agree to date rather than jump all in. It was really sweet seeing them fall back in love and really listen to each other – not just play the blame game. They both needed to make changes and do the work.

It’s interesting how both Thea and Gavin’s parents marriages had an impact on them in totally different ways. Gavin’s parents marriage seemed perfect to him so he felt like a failure by having any problems while Thea came from a broken home and didn’t trust people to stick around when it got tough. Thea’s sister was aggressively against Thea and Gavin's reconciliation and really pissed me off at times. I thought she overstepped but a) I got it. She has baggage too and was just being overprotective and b) Thea didn’t stand for it. She made her own choices. I ended up having compassion for her sister and hope she gets a book! There was a hint of who her love interest would be and boy will that be a doozy! lol But girrrrrrlllll BACK OFF! lol

This is one of the few romance novels I’ve read that showed a truly messy marriage with bad sex *gasp* so that couldn’t be used as a crutch or easy way out to solve things.

This is being marketed as a rom-com and there are LOTS of laughs! but this one hit me in the feels a lot and felt much more emotional than I was expecting.

The Bromance Book Club was funny, with relatable problems and solutions using a a very clever take on the romance genre and tropes.

So maybe – rom-com with a gut punch?

I really liked this book. This read is a delightful combination of cuteness, sweetness, humor and deep emotions. I found myself fluctuating between laugh out loud moments and instances that will simply have your heart melting. I loved Gavin so much and I thought Thea was easy to connect with and super relatable. In my opinion the things that really made this a book not to be missed were the adorable storyline idea behind it and Gavin. A very, very good read.

The focus on the after-effects of the conflict and the way back is something not seen before in romance. This focus really opened up the book and plot options for the author to explore. However, I do wish there had been more work put into the resolution. It worked for the story, but it also felt as though something was missing.

First off, this is a super hetero-normative book. And that's the whole point, because it's about the ways that men and women are socialized to conduct themselves in a marriage. While I'm bisexual, I'm a woman married to a man, so this book was intensely relatable. I'm reviewing it from that standpoint, so YMMV.

In a recent piece, the author talked about deconstructing toxic masculinity in romance novels and I suggest you read it. The Bromance Book Club is the first in a series about men who read romance novels and help each other to improve the way they relate to women in order to have better relationships. On the surface, you might think it's gimmicky, but then you look under that and wonder why? Why is the idea of men speaking to each other about their relationships a gimmick? Why is the idea of a man working to become a better partner so unimaginable?

Thea has just asked for a divorce and Gavin has moved out. Their relationship went from 0-60 really fast due to an unplanned pregnancy (with twins, OMG) and then his baseball career took off. Thea's been parenting largely by herself for three years, losing her identity by slow but steady degrees. Most mothers -- especially stay-at-home parents -- I know have deal with this to some extent, but Gavin is oblivious. When he finds out that Thea's been faking orgasms, it's a HUGE DEAL for his ego. (Ugh, men.) But of course Thea's been faking her entire marriage and life for three years, so she's just done. Gavin has to work hard to save his relationship and he messes up a lot. (Thea has some learning to do as well, but the majority of the work is Gavin's.)

This book is funny. I laughed a lot. How rare is that? Pretty dang rare.  The book club is funny, but there are also these passages from a regency romance as Gavin reads and then the hero of the story starts calling Gavin these ridiculous insults in Gavin's mind. I really appreciated that Gavin's stutter was never a source of humor, it's just part of who he is.

It's also seriously sexy, but I never got the "after all these years they still wanted to bang all over the house and everywhere all the time" feeling that a lot of epilogues contain.

All in all, I can strongly recommend this one, but I'm sure it will be more relevant to readers who are in a marriage between a man and a woman.

Content Warnings: parental abandonment, narcissistic parent, sex, unplanned pregnancy in the past, hero was bullied in the past for his stutter

There is something oddly amusing thinking about a group of professional athletes sitting around reading romance books. Just the idea of these guys that play these sports like football and hockey picking up a swoony romance book makes me giggle. So the concept of The Bromance Book Club had me from the start. I was curious how a story like this would play out. It had the potential to be too cliché and out there, but all in all it lived up to my excitement and I’m so happy to have read it.

The Bromance Book Club is about Gavin, a professional baseball player that has been asked for a divorce from his wife Thea after she reaches her limit when Gavin loses his cool by something she reveals…she has been faking it in bed. Having been kicked out of the house Gavin gets super drunk one night and is brought into the fold of the Bromance Book Club. What is the Bromance Book Club? It is a club filled with Nashville’s top athletes/alpha males and it is used to better these men for the women they love and in the long run the women they are raising. With the help of the book club and a steamy romance book Gavin starts to woo his wife in a way he should have done to begin with. The question is, is it too late or can Gavin and the Bromance Book Club save his marriage?

What I really loved about this book was how it tackled the alpha male stereotype. These guys were aware how they were behaving, how their toxic masculinity was effecting their lives and the lives of the women they loved and they did something about it in the most “girly” way imaginable. They took something so ‘feminine’ and ‘cliché’ like reading a romance book and used it to help them see the errors of their ways. Was it a perfect plan? Definitely not. They seriously got themselves into a whole boatload of trouble this way, but it also softened them. They learned that being a strong male doesn’t mean you have to be an alpha male. Through their friendship and the books they were reading they made themselves better and I just adored that aspect.

The Bromance Book Club was a quick read and a fantastic debut to this series. It was a fun journey and I honestly don’t want to give too much away because I think you should read it. Did it sometimes become over the top? For sure. But in the end it was all worth it. Pick this one up and get ready for book 2. That one is going to be a doozy.

Baseball player Gavin Scott's marriage is in trouble, he thought his relationship was pretty much perfect but after discovering his wife has been faking her orgasms for the entire time he's known her he felt humiliated and his first reaction was to walk away. Now that Thea is asking for a divorce he's realised what he's about to lose and now he's determined to do whatever it takes to get her to give him a second chance. The only trouble is he has no idea where to start. That is until a teammate steps in and invites him to a rather exclusive club. The Bromance Book Club includes some of Nashville's most successful men and one thing they all have in common is a wish to understand the women in their lives. They've decided that the best way to do that is by reading romance novels and they have a cunning plan to help Gavin get Thea back.

I love second chance romances, most books end when a couple gets married but meeting and falling in love is only a small part of a relationship, the hardest part is keeping that marriage alive. Thea and Gavin met and married very quickly after an accidental pregnancy, it's obvious that they were very in love but meeting, getting married and having twin daughters all in just over a year is a lot to deal with for any couple. Especially when you consider that Gavin's job has him travelling a lot and leaving Thea at home basically acting like a single parent. They love each other and they both adore their daughters but it's not so surprising that their relationship has hit a tough spot. Thea feels abandoned and uncared for while Gavin is hurt and humiliated when he realises that he's never really been able to satisfy Thea in bed and it's the final straw that broke the camel's back.

I really enjoyed seeing how hard Gavin was willing to work to win back his wife, he's really reluctant to even consider reading a romance novel at first but at the same time he doesn't want to lose his wife so he decides anything is worth a shot. The camaraderie amongst the guys from book club was just perfect, the banter had me laughing out loud and they made so many clever observations on Gavin and Thea's relationship. Thea was great too, she was learning to become independent and knew that she didn't need a man in her life to be happy but that doesn't mean she doesn't still love Gavin, she was just reluctant to let him back into her life in case she got hurt again. Once Gavin started dialling up the tension between them you could cut the chemistry with a knife and I was left wanting to shove the two of them into a bedroom together so he could practice his new skills.

It’s been a while since a book last kept me up until 5am but this was definitely a one sitting read and I couldn't put it down no matter how tired I got. Laugh out loud funny, great characters, a believable second chance romance and strong feminist themes, The Bromance Book Club has it all and Lyssa Kay Adams has earned herself a new fan. I'm ridiculously excited that the next book, Undercover Bromance, is going to be about Mack and Liv so it's an automatic preorder for me!

The Bromance Book Club is much like The Bride Test in terms of on-line anticipation. It was on so many readers most anticipated lists, including mine. I totally fell into the hype of this book. And I was left so confused. At first I rated this book four stars. But the more I thought about it, the more I thought it was more like three. For one thing, I was 120 pages in before I could even stomach to read a scene with Thea - who, in my opinion, was the most toxic thing in this book. The number of times she pissed me off is endless. But I will say, once she became a bit more self-aware and basically dubbed herself as ‘the queen of petty,’ it was a bit easier to deal with her. But I also feel like it came so close to the end of the story that the damage was done, and by that time, I was just rooting for Gavin to get what he wanted, and since that was Thea, I guess I was rooting for her? There wasn’t a ton of masculinity to be found in this book among Gavin or his friends, but I found myself liking them despite this. (I’m a fan of masculinity.) I thought the scenes with them were fun and funny, and the hostility between Gavin and one of them was hysterical to see every time they were on the page. I don’t want it to seem like Gavin is without his faults; what he pulled that led to Thea telling him to leave was childish. And when he tried to make amends, it was too little too late for Thea, and I can understand that. What frustrated me was her essentially channeling all her anger from anything anyone had ever done to her to her husband. Not to mention the fact that she quit school to raise the girls - lots of anger there, as well. But instead of discussing this with him, she lets it essentially boil over. And the part that made me the most frustrated about this book was anytime she said ‘why didn’t you know?’ Umm...because you didn’t tell him? I felt like she couldn’t take responsibility for a single aspect of her situation, and I’m never going to be able to warm up to a heroine like that. This book was pretty much Gavin winning Thea back, when quite frankly, I’m not sure she deserved him. Not after all the effort he put in to trying to win her back. I also couldn’t stand Thea’s sister, who was so anti-Gavin and treated him like crap while she stayed in the house he pays for. She was so entitled, and there is nothing good or ‘sisterhoody’ about a woman who cheers on her sisters divorce on instead of saying ‘hey, you seem angry. Let’s talk about this.’ Two wrongs don’t make a right, and the sisters together just seemed to egg each other on. Thea did eventually stand up to her sister, but again, it was too little too late. The damage was already done at that point. So why the three stars? The Bromance, like I mentioned before were a hoot, and there were parts of this story that were entertaining. I loved the scene where Thea finally stands up to the queen bee WAG, and her and Gavin’s daughters were absolutely adorable. While The Bromance Book Club isn't a solid winner for me, I am interested in reading the next book in this series. Even if I do loathe myself a bit for it.

This is one of those rare reads that lives up to all the hype and I do mean ALL the hype.
I devoured this in a single day and just couldn't get enough. There was just something so freaking enduring about it all and I even got caught up in the side story of the Count and Countess I mean, seriously, so good.

For anyone that has ever been married, dated someone or really in any kind of relationship, we know that we all have side stories and yes, those side stories impact us so much. This is a story that just about anyone can relate to on so many levels. Family, friendship, love, sex, marriage, work, romance lover, book lover..you name it, I can almost guarantee you will connect with it some how on some level.

These characters were so real feelings so enduring and I couldn't help but root for them the whole way through. Truly a stand out story that will warm the heart just as much as it will get it pumping.

The Bromance Book Club was such a delight! Marriage and committed relationships aren’t always a walk in the park. There’re times when you fight, maybe grow apart or wonder if you’ll make it together long term. I think this story realistically captured the feelings a couple go through when struggling. Yet, despite the serious, angsty nature of the subject, the author made Thea and Gavin’s story fun, filled with parts that’ll make you laugh! I thought the idea of having men use romantic fiction to help them understand and solve some of their marital problems was brilliant! I wish men would do this in real life! I’ve certainly gained some perspective and learned a few things about relationships from reading romances, and I think it would do men a world of good to hear how we think, even if it’s from fiction. The scenes with these big-time baseball athletes dissecting and analyzing scenes from a historical romance to gain wisdom were hilarious!

Anyone who’s ever been married or in a long-term relationship I think will really appreciate the reality of the circumstances Thea and Gavin find themselves in. My heart truly went out to them both, each having valid reasons to be hurt and upset, but especially for Gavin, because the realization that Thea wanted a divorce was devastating to him. But as the Book Club pointed out, “it’s all about the backstory” and Thea’s history definitely factored into her decision heavily. Didn’t help that her sister, Liv, wanted Thea to kick Gavin to the curb without giving him any second chances; I didn’t care for her attitude at all. You don’t just throw a marriage away when things can be fixed, especially when there are kids involved! I’m happy that Thea didn’t let Liv’s opinions in influence her decisions.

I loved watching Gavin and Thea find their way back to each other, rediscover what brought them together in the first place: that zing of irresistible attraction that made it hard for Gavin and Thea to keep their hands off each other and also the deeper qualities that truly bound their hearts. It was two steps forward, one step back at times, but I loved every minute! I finished the book with a smile on my face and a happy sigh!

Even though Liz was a PIA, after getting a bit of her side in the end I understood where she was coming from. I’m eager to read her story with Mack next!

I am someone that reads about 95% romance and while I love it and will never stop, sometimes it’s hard to find something that seems entirely new and unique. This book is that breath of fresh air I’ve been waiting for! The Bromance Bookclub follows Gavin as he struggles to repair his crumbling marriage with the help of his close friends and fellow book club members. It is hilarious, the characters are very well-defined, and Gavin and Thea leave us swooning or crying at every turn.

The first rule of book club...don't talk about book club...

The Bromance Book Club by Lyssa Kay Adams finds Gavin and Thea with their marriage in shambles. Gavin is a professional baseball player and Thea has long played the part of doting baseball WAG until she can't pretend anymore. After finding out his wife has been faking it (yup, that IT) for most of their marriage, Gavin doesn't know how to process the information and refuses to continue to communicate with his wife. Thea is at her wits end asks for a divorce, which propels Gavin to do whatever it takes to fix their marriage. But Thea's mind is made up.

Gavin reaches out to his teammates and they invite him to be part of their exclusive club. The men read romance novels to better understand how to communicate with their wives, girlfriends and partners and they ask for blind trust from Gavin. They choose Courting the Countess for him and the timeline weaves back and forth between events unfolding within the romance novel and events currently. Can Gavin prove that there's still that spark in his marriage or will him and Thea be without their HEA after all?

This one was so fun! I loved the book club. The guys were hilarious and I actually love the premise of this idea. Let's be honest - the reason I love reading romance so much is to get lost in the fantasy and believe in the happily ever after. Thea was tough at times - she had a lot of baggage from her childhood and she really stood her ground. Gavin was very reactive at times but you could see him striving to evolve and to learn how to be better. I love how this book took on toxic masculinity and the Pinterest conversation/shopping discussions were some of my favorites. Thea's sister Liv was also deeply hurt by her childhood so I am DYING for her and Mack's book thats out in March to revisit this world. Bromance Bookclub is out TODAY - so go grab your copy and prepare to get courted. // ☕☕☕☕

Gavin Scott is a spectacular baseball player. It’s being an equally great husband that he could use some lessons in.

When his marriage takes a header because of trouble in the bedroom, his friends come together to initiate him into a secret book club. It’s a place where they drop all the societal norms at the door and use romance novels as a guide to make their relationships better. And they are on a mission to help Gavin get his wife back.

“Good. First rule of book club?”
They finished in unison. “You don’t talk about book club.”
What. The. Fuck.
Gavin looked around for a hidden camera. This had to be a prank.
“A book club? That’s your grand plan for saving my marriage?”
Del nodded at Mack, who rose on one hip and pulled a book from his back pocket. He tossed it at Gavin. It nailed him in the face.
“Nice reflexes. Hope you’re better at shortstop.”
Gavin bared his teeth. “I play second base, asshole.”
Mack shrugged. “Isn’t that basically the same thing?”
Gavin ignored him and retrieved the book from the table where it fell. He blinked at the cover. A woman from, like, the 1800s or some shit was leaning on a couch with a dude in one of those old-timey suits standing behind her. His shirt was open.
“Courting the Countess,” Gavin read slowly. He ground his molars and looked up. “Is this a joke?”
“No,” Del said.
“This is a romance novel.”
“Yes.”
Gavin shot to his feet. “I can’t believe you assholes. My life is falling apart, and you’re making fun of me.”
“I thought the same thing when Malcolm brought me in,” Del said. “But it’s not a joke. Sit down and listen.”

Thea Scott is used to people walking out on her. It happened with her father and now history is repeating itself once again with her husband.

Maybe it’s because she never felt like she fit in with the other WAGs because she wanted to have something that was just for her – apart from just being a wife and mother. Or maybe the reason goes far deeper.

Finding herself means finding her way back to Gavin. Because this time, love really is strong enough.

“Son,” Malcolm asked, as if he weren’t only a year older than Gavin, “what do you know about the G-spot?”
Gavin sputtered and coughed.
“Listen,” Malcolm said. “Your wife doesn’t want you to say I love you, but that doesn’t mean you can’t express it.”
Yan nodded. “You just can’t use those exact words. They’re not part of her language anymore. Hell, maybe they never were.”
“You have to tell her you love her in a way she wants,” Del said. “A way that makes her feel good and safe. A way that will break through her walls and her fears.”
“Wh-what does this have to do with the G-spot?”
Malcolm smiled broadly. “You’re going to find and stroke her emotional one.”
“Every woman has one,” Del said. “A place somewhere deep inside her that only the right man can reach.”
Del’s voice trembled. He paused to press his hand to his mouth. Mack patted him on the shoulder. “It’s cool, man. Let it out.”
“We all have a void,” Del said a moment later. “Something that’s missing in us. Something we need but don’t want to admit or don’t even know we’re missing until we find it in that other person. If you want to fix this thing with Thea, figure out what she’s missing inside. Stroke that broken part of her until it doesn’t hurt anymore. That’s how to say I love you to Thea.”

The Bromance Club is not only laugh-out-loud funny, it’s also surprisingly relevant. Lyssa Kay Adams addresses what it really means to really be “masculine” in the modern world with quick wit and with understanding. She does it in such a subtle way that her characters instantly become more real – more relatable.

I found my respect for Thea, for Gavin and for every member of the Book Club growing with every page. Their ability to overcome long-held hurts and fight for something as elusive as love gives me hope for the future. And that's no small feat!

Oh and after all of that, this book still has the power to leave you with an epic Book Boner...

I saw a few mixed early reviews for this one but I was still pretty excited to finally get to it! The concept of a book club where some ~manly men~ read romance novels sounded quite nice. I loved the idea that this series (or at least the first book, so far) is about men trying to “date” and win back their wives. The couple is already together but in a rough patch, so the MC will fight to make up for the past and learn from their mistakes.

The first book in the series is about Gavin. He and his wife Thea got married quickly after a surprise pregnancy and three years later, things have fallen apart. He’s not as attentive as he should be, she’s been faking orgasms for the entirety of their relationship, and countless other small issues that have added up. Part of the reason Thea is looking for a divorce is because she wants to get out before things get worse and her twin girls have to see a fighting couple. She’s operating from experience based on her father’s past and relationship issues.

This book was frustrating a lot of the time because I just wanted them to COMMUNICATE. It’s hard to read books about adult relationships when both parties are acting like teenagers. I read YA books and understand there could be some miscommunication that ruins the relationship (not my favorite way to create the black moment, but I know it’s real), but I just want people in adult romance books to grow up. I loved the lengths that Gavin went to in order to fix his marriage and try to make up for past mistakes, but there was a lot of work that needed to be done on her end too. Relationships are partnerships; there’s always going to be some kind of compromise and effort from both parties to make things work when there are issues.

Overall, I enjoyed the steamy scenes in this one quite a bit and though Adams had a nice writing style. It was an addicting, fast read, and I would generally recommend it. There are some contrived elements and clearly pieces of the story didn’t work for me (I didn’t like either character for really the first half of the book) but it was all worth it by the end.

I enjoyed this book and the link to men reading romance novels to fix relationships. Gavin and his friends were fun, and I’m glad there wasn’t a load of sports-talk to muddy up the story. I only wished that I liked Thea and understood why he wanted her back. She blamed him for everything, when she was as much…if not more at fault. There were times that I was ready to stop reading because I disliked her so much and thought he could do better. But all’s well that ends well, I guess. She slowly grew on me. The book club, the men, and Gavin’s fumbling through the romance novel lessons, kept me smiling even after the book was over. I’m excited about the next series installment this spring.

The title, the promise in that blurb, and that delectable cover all worked to draw me in with high anticipation. Did it live up? It hit a walk-off grandslam!
Review

The Bromance Book Club introduces star baseball second basemen, Gavin Scott, at the lowest time in his life. His wife of three years told him she’s been faking it and not just in the bedroom and she wants a divorce. He’s still staggered over the faking it part and hasn’t done much for his own cause when it comes to bailing out and repairing the sinking ship of his marriage.

Enter a secret mens-only book club stage left. Gavin’s best friend drags him into the membership and this quirky group of guys load him down with club rules, a rah-rah speech, and… a historical romance? Gavin is reluctant, but then he knows he has to try something big to get back what he most wants.

Thea is full of anger and bitterness and has erected the highest, thickest emotional wall possible to do what she needs to do- get on with her life and her sister is right there cheering her on. But, then, Gavin walks in with determination and pushes her to accept his new proposition. The courtship begins…

A romance story that begins when the happily ever after has become ash and a man has to step up and work hard to restore what has been broken. It could have been laiden with drama or even just downright depression, but the author balanced it with humor and plenty of heartwarming moments. There was a sizzle of attraction and a longing to this pair. I think what really sold me on it was that it took two to break it and it will take two to fix it. Gavin is working hard at it in the obvious ways, but the book is not one long man-grovel. I liked how the reader is aware that Thea has baggage and there is enough foreshadowing that shows where the story needs to head as a result.

This pair were fun, bantering, sizzling, heartbreaking at times, but always engaging. They were obviously meant to be together as a family with their cute twin girls. It was their story, but that group of guys in book club were a hoot. They really had Gavin’s back and had some great things to say about what they were all learning about women in general and their womenfolk in particular from romance books.

All in all, this was full of all the good things from beginning to end. I will definitely be setting the date on my calendar for the next meeting of Bromance Book Club. Contemporary Romance fans now have a new fab book to hunt up and read.

*4.25 stars!

I JUST HAVE SO MANY FEELINGS

Ok, let’s just get right to it.

Why couldn’t I give it five stars? Well. I found that I butted heads with our two main characters, Gavin and Thea a few times, but I seemed to warm up to them as the story went and then they just gave me the feels. Thea is quite headstrong, really puts her foot down, and Gavin could be quite oblivious. I also quickly felt some disconnect there, especially after Gavin kinda highkey manipulated his wife in order to make a deal. Then there was the end, which felt sort of rushed given the depth of the emotional topic that is Thea's backstory, but I was real giddy with the grand gesture.

What I absolutely loved from this book was actually the Bromance Book Club ITSELF. My goodness, what a cast of hilarious characters, all cracking open some romance books and getting into some hijinks along the way. I LOVED IT. The idea itself in a romance novel is new to me and I thought it was written so well! One of the members, *AHEM* MACK was my absolute favorite and had me doubling over laughing at 2AM and I am both excited and nervous for his story, but mostly excited!!

Gavin and Thea really worked their way through fixing their marriage and I loved the balance of their push and pull. While I did just want to grab them and just lock them in a room together, I loved the ease at which these two knew of their love, but also of their pain. There was also a nice balance between the actual story and the historical romance novel the men were reading, which I felt really helped put into perspective how Gavin and Thea’s relationship would go. For such a sensitive topic of a possible separation, I really found myself not being able to put this book down at all. I was also surprised by what a joy this book was to read, how much fun I had reading it. Perhaps it was the inevitability of the two falling back in love, but also could’ve been the fight in Gavin’s words and actions that had me swooning and cheering him on.

This book is just really one I can’t put into words. Just know that it made me giddy AF, made me laugh so damn hard, made me fan myself a little there (HOT DAMN), but also made me clutch at my heart with the tenderness that we’ve all come to know and love in romance novels! This one was one of my most anticipated reads of the year and it did NOT disappoint!

Seriously cannot recommend this one enough, I loved it!

The Bromance Book Club is a Grand Slam for a few reasons:

 1. Second chance romance between a married couple! I love the idea that these two are fighting for their marriage after years together (and kids).
 2. Group of alpha men reading romance with the purpose of being better for their significant other! If that doesn't make you swoon, you are dead inside.
 3. Genuinely funny! The interactions between the guys is great and there is certainly a lot of levity despite the crumbling marriage.

Gavin, our hero, is a baseball player, which I would imagine is hard on a marriage (so much traveling). I loved that he was willing to do anything necessary to save his marriage. After finding out his wife has been faking her orgasms for years, he doesn't hesitate to get help from the Bros! That takes courage and humility, which is super sexy. He also has a slight stutter, so when he reads aloud from Courting the Countess to Thea I totally swooned.

Thea, his wife, was a bit underdeveloped in my opinion. She isn't a bad character or anything, and I liked her, but despite the story being about her marriage, it isn't really about her. However, I loved that she wasn't immediately won over by Gavin's new gestures. She was wary and that felt really natural to me.

The supporting characters are what will make this book a best seller. The guys are funny, charming, and not afraid to go against the modern ideas of toxic masculinity. I can't wait to get more of their stories!

The story has snippets of the romance the guys are reading and I really thought that was a great touch to the plot. Overall, The Bromance book club will charm you, delight you, and make you believe in love all over again.

In addition to have the ebook and the paperback, I also snagged this book in audio and was not disappointed. The narrator was quite good and I thought the performance really helped make the story come alive.

When I saw the early reviews come out about The Bromance Book Club by Lyssa Kay Adams, I knew then and there that I needed to read it. This book is right up my alley, and I couldn't wait to jump into it. I had such high hopes for this book, and I'm happy to say that it lived up to the hype I built for it. This is my first novel by Lyssa Kay Adams, and it definitely will not be my last.

The Bromance Book Club was filled with the perfect amount of angst. I'm always nervous when picking up books because they are sometimes too angsty. For me, you have to have a mixture of angst and happiness. I want to feel hopeful, and gutted, and then hopeful again. I laughed, I cried, I wanted to yell at the characters, and I wanted to hug them all.

The characters really were the shining stars of this book. I loved Thea & Gavin's story. It was fascinating to watch them struggle with both their failures. I also loved that they each were imperfect in a realistic way. I could see these two existing in the world, and I was invested in their story.

The plot was something that I appreciated. It was a little over the top at moments, but I thoroughly enjoyed it. I loved that romance novels played an integral role in this book. I think the world would be a better place if more people read romance novels. There is just something beautiful about knowing that there is a happily ever after.

All in all, The Bromance Book Club was an incredibly charming and angst-filled book. The characters were lovable and completely imperfect. I cried, I laughed, and I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book.
