I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of Missing Daughter. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Hauntingly REAL, as a mother, this novel actually stressed me out! I felt every emotion with each family member--remorse for arguments, sorrow for loss, guilt for perceived faults. I was completely lost in the devastation of the missing child. Maddie Lane's disappearance truly became my life for 3 days! Well done, Rick Mofina! I have never gone through anything like this personally, and therefore could not imagine the impact of such tragedy. Now I can. I will definitely read from this author again.

Thank you to NetGalley and Rick Mofina for the ARC!

This was twisty!

I have been reading too many child abduction stories lately and I have to stop! They are just too sad. This felt so real. All the tension, heartbreak and the revealing of skeletons in closets that should have long been buried.

The writing was good, the characters were interesting. There is an element of repetition but it suited the course of the investigation.

There were a lot of twists along the way. I didn’t come close to figuring out that conclusion! This was a bit of a different take on the genre so that was good. I would read more by this author.

Thanks to NetGalley, the author and HARLEQUIN MIRA (U.S. and Canada) for a copy in exchange for a review.

Wow ! this was an amazing read! I wasn't able to read and review it before it was archived, but I highly recommend this book. For the most part, I enjoyed reading this book. There were times I thought the book dragged out information to understand the story, but maybe that was being too impatient to know what had happened. The one other thing that bothered me was the way was written. I find when I read a story I feel I have a "bond" if you will with the main character. With I found I just did not like her. But in the end, it all made perfect sense.
I strongly suggest if you haven't read this book, that you do so. It is one heck of a roller coaster ride, and I guarantee whatever assumptions you have while reading this, you'll be proven oh so wrong.

This book is full of the well written twists and turns in the plot that we expect from Mr. Mofina's writing. I would start to think I had it figured out and there would come a twist to where I had to rethink my theory. This happened multiple times and it really adds to the enjoyment of reading. I have loved all of his books that I have read and plan to read all the others soon.

Missing Daughter is a twisty crime novel. It was good enough for me to power through the 500 odd pages (I didn't even realise it was this long, thanks Kindle!) but I wouldn't say it's greatly gripping. There's a standard pool of suspects that the story (and the detectives) occasionally point fingers at, each of which could be responsible for the disappearance of Maddi. After all, they're all guilty. But what of?

Even though I guessed one portion of the ending here, the conclusion to Missing Daughter was still a satisfying end. It's got a lot of other good reviews though, so if you like this author or think it sounds up your alley - give it a go. There's enough suspense, mystery, and twists and turns to get you to the end.

I really enjoy reading Rick Mofina’s books. I have been a fan for a while. I also enjoyed this story as well. The writing was a bit different for Mofina but it was interesting. The book is very long but the read is pretty quick. Some sections go slower than others but mostly it is an easy read.

There are two sections to the book which have a huge time lapse of about 4 years. That was a bit surprising but to be honest I enjoyed the second sections more than the first. It seemed to go by quicker and it made figuring out the “who-dun-it” easier for me.

If you are a fan of suspense then this is a great book to pick up.

This was my first read from this prolific author. It’s a solid police procedural in the first half after a teenage girl goes missing overnight. Halfway through, it changes and unexpected secrets come tumbling out and we are in a solid thriller instead. It’s a long, slightly padded, book but overall, I thoroughly enjoyed it, and would read another from Molina.

The first half of this book plays out in typical fashion. Search for missing daughter, how difficult it is for the family dynamics, crushing media and police pressure.....I was not seeing why it was getting such high ratings, although I was enjoying getting to know the characters. But then Book 2 started and WOW!!! The second half is mind-blowing! I was impressed that my original scenario that was in my head from the first half turned out to be correct in part, but in no way how I imagined! How have I never read anything from this author before? Thank you so much NetGalley, Harlequin-MIRA and Mr. Mofina for this ARC!!

A child disappears from her bedroom. A transitional home for convicts has recently opened in the neighborhood. Family members have buried secrets of their own. All of these elements are part of Missing Daughter.

The newest book by Rick Mofina is a missing child mystery that has plenty of plot twists and surprises. It is also a well-written police procedural. Overall, I enjoyed the book and Mr Mofina’s skilled storytelling. However, there were several things that I found distracting. The author often reveals the thoughts of the characters and after a while I found this to be quite distracting and repetitive. Ditto with the mother of the missing child collapsing over and over again. Overall the characters felt somewhat flat and uninteresting as well. As the story progressed it became somewhat unbelievable and several revelations seemed out of place or unnecessary. These distractions dimmed my enthusiasm for this book.

Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for providing a copy of this book for review.

Karen and Ryan Lane came back to their home in Syracuse, NY after a movie date night. The babysitter, Crystal said all went well with the kids—just a night full of pizza, soda and Jurassic Park. Karen checks on both kids—Tyler, 13, and Maddie, 12—and they’re both fast asleep in their rooms. But the next morning, when they go to wake Maddie for breakfast, she’s nowhere to be found.

Karen and Ryan quickly call the police, desperate to find their little girl. The police, along with the residents of Syracuse, work together to try and track down the Lane’s missing daughter. Due evidence in Maddie’s room and outside her window, police believe someone kidnapped Maddie, but they know never to leave a stone unturned.

The Lanes appear to be a family in a state of shock, but as police conduct interviews and polygraphs, they reveal cracks in this seemingly happy family. Most kidnap victims get killed within 4-hours and any ransom demands are usually sought after within the first 24-hours. So when the first day passes and there’s no news on Maddie, the police are scrambling to solver her case. Who could’ve snatched Maddie from her bed? Is it a stranger or has the kidnapper been under their noses all along?

Missing Daughter by Rick Mofina is an intriguing crime mystery. I didn’t know what to expect going into this book, as I’ve never read anything by Rick Mofina. The story is told through a plethora of perspectives: each member of the Lane family, several detectives, friends of the family, a criminal, and even Maddie herself. We weren’t given any type of forewarning that the perspectives were changing from one person to the next, but I didn’t have a hard time following the story. Usually I dislike a lot of perspectives, but for the most part, it worked here. The story is a fast-read, despite being over 500-pages. It’s divided into two parts: the first 60% is during the search for Maddie and the last 40% is 4-years after her disappearance. I wasn’t expecting there to be such a large time jump, as part one ended abruptly, but I enjoyed part two a lot. That’s where the story truly picks up and all the secrets start unfolding. I would recommend this to fans of the crime drama/mystery genre—3.75/5 stars.

Brilliant book, a definite read to keep you wanting more and reading on. A girl is missing or is she? middle of the night. Lots of people have different stories and reasons for her to be gone. Love the way the storylines all link and twist together. Really enjoyed this book. 5 stars.

This is my first novel by this author and I enjoyed his writing. Great book to recommend to those looking for a good beach or lake read. I would also recommend the book to those who like the novels of Harlan Coben because it was in a similar vein. Plenty of twists at the end to keep the reader guessing. Will be looking forward to reading more of Mofina's books in the future.

I have read many of Rick Mofina's books and loved every single one. He is the kind of writer who compels you to keep reading with his way of telling a story. He knows a lot about police procedural because of being a reporter for years. Missing Daughter was a wonderful book and I can't wait to read his next book. I'll be waiting for it to come out so I can grab it.

Enjoyed this book definitely a page turner . Read this book quiet quickly. How do you cope when your daughter goes missing , Are you hiding something , do you know more than your letting on . A few twists in this book which kept me enthralled to the end.

I would give this 2 1/2 stars. There were some plot twists which kept it going, but what I struggled most with were the characters. Or rather my lack of connection to them as they felt a little one dimensional. You’ve read the reviews describing this is a police procedural and it was very much by the book. I found my interest straying during these times as I would have liked to see a little more going rogue.

I enjoyed this book, it was a quick read with plenty of twists and kept pulling you in to find out what actually happened. It was one of those books that you want to read into the night to figure out what happened and who done it.
