This was a fun quick read. Nothing too over the top. Thought the romance was interesting. The characters were good.
I can't even begin to tell you how much I enjoy these Harlequin romance mangas. I love the illustrations. I love the stories and since the stories are from actual books, sometimes it even motivates me to go and read the book for more details. Love it.
Thanks Netgalley for the chance to read this!
I love these manga style stories!
This one read kinda like a soap opera. It was sad but enjoyable! I think its one of those stories you really have to be in the mood for, there are things (like infidelity and child death) that can be triggering. But those stories need to be told sometimes.
All in all this is one I would recommend to my more shojo loving friends.
This is a super cute read. If you like jyosei manga, I really think you’ll like this. There is marriage, betrayal, love, tragedy. It’s got it all. I loved it. The art is also really good on both the outside and inside.
This manga love story was a new reading experience for me.
At first I thought it was a bit strange to read from right to left, but I got used to it very quickly.
Also, I do not want to compare a manga book with a novel because they are (as we like to say in Germany) two different boots. It is a reading experience that is unique. I would say .. either you like mangas or you don`t like them.
Gracey`s and Donato`s love story is the story of a love that breaks through a heavy blow of fate and jealousy. Luckily, they both find a way back to each other, so you can look forward to a happy ending here.
I received an Advanced Reader Copy (ARC) from NetGalley and Harlequin/SB Creative as the publisher in exchange for an honest review
Book title : Husband by Contract : a Harlequin Manga
Author : Helen Brooks ; Illustrator : Erika Kari
Release Date : 17 May 2019
Grace, our heroine is an orphan. When she meets her Italian millionaire, Donato, she finally is able to find a shelter, warmth, and a stable family. She is happy for being able to marry Donato and bears a son for him. Alas, her happiness only lasts for s short while because her son dies as an infant. Grace is in grief.
The grief does not stop at that point. She later finds that Donato is having an affair with Maria through Donato's sister. Broken hearted, she decides to runaway and starts living in London. She works in a hospital where she can learn to deal with the death of the son. She starts over. However, later in the story, the fate brings her back to Napoli where she has to attend Donato's mum's funeral. It turns out that her arrival in Napoli does not only to attend the funeral but also to deal with the ghosts from the past including to clear some misunderstandings up.
I am not going to spoil everything here as I am sure that it is something you do have to read as a reader. The ending of the story and the whole plot make this story as an interesting manga to read. The illustration in manga does look a little bit childish to me. Well, a minor point but a little bit lamentable because the story is supposed for the adult readers. Yet still, the story is as a sweet romance wrapped in manga style to read!

A very nice manga version of the Harlequin paperback book by the author of the same name. Students at my school devour manga, so I was excited to see these titles on Netgalley!
The illustrations are in typical manga style and the pages read from right to left, top to bottom like manga. This may trip up some older readers, but anyone who reads manga will not have an issue with this at all.
The story was one of misunderstanding and love, leaving the reader to think about communication in relationships and how that can help to bridge hard times. Definitely something that everyone can learn!
This book would be great for teens (who love manga and romance) and for English as a Second Language readers (ladies who love romance) in public libraries. Would love to purchase for my students.
This title doesn't suit the story at all. That or the contract part got skipped? I don't know. All I know is that the story was a beautiful story about a couple grieving the loss of their child. I felt for the couple. They handled things differently, and the extended family didn't do any favors.
Beautiful art as well, and this one didn't really have any sexy scenes, so if that isn't something you want in the story, now you know.
A young couple suffers a terrible loss: their child suddenly dies in sleep and their world is shattered. The young wife is even more at loss when her sister-in-law reveals that Donato is having an affair while she is grieving the death of their child. She can only run away from the ruins of their marriage and take up a job in a hospital. A year later she is forced to go back to attend the funeral of Donato's mother. Memories come flooding back. Is all lost? And is everything as it seems or was something else at play in the destruction of their marriage? A romance of misunderstandings and second chances with a few twists that make for a different turn on an already explored trope.
