I can't even begin to tell you how much I enjoy these Harlequin romance mangas. I love the illustrations. I love the stories and since the stories are from actual books, sometimes it even motivates me to go and read the book for more details. Love it.

I received an Advanced Reader Copy (ARC) from NetGalley and Harlequin/SB Creative as the publisher in exchange for an honest review

Book title : The Billionaire Baby Bombshell : a Harlequin Manga

Author : Paola Roe ; Illustrator : Yuko Ichiju

Release Date : 8 April 2019

Yelena, our heroine is working at the PR firm. Her recent job is to handle a big client: billionaire Alex Rush, the one she had a crush with a super long time ago. Alex was also her sister ex's boyfriend and now is facing a problem: people's prejudice who think that he is the murderer of his own father. Yelena has nothing but to accept the job offered. Yet this is getting complicated because Yelena has to face the some problem with her family when she takes the job. Meanwhile, she also starts to be attracted by Alex's charms. Will she survive? what to do?

I am not going to spoil everything here as I am sure that it is something you do have to read as a reader. The ending of the story and the whole plot make this story as an interesting manga to read. Yet still, the story is as a sweet romance wrapped in manga style to read!

My feelings after reading this can be best summed up with a clip of the losing horn from The Price Is Right. I finished this book and just felt an overwhelming sense of "whomp whomp" because this story did absolutely nothing to engage me.

The synopsis was promising. The art wasn't terrible. But the actual plot was contrived and forced.

I want to know why Alex was so insistent that in spite of his father's clearly abusive behavior, he was "a good man". Obviously, victims of abuse can often protect their abusers. No one is questioning that. But EVERYONE in his life, including his mother and sister, acknowledged that his father was abusive, and yet even after the truth came out, he still seemed to insist that his father had some good inside him. Maybe I could have believed that this was a result of his abuse, that he was protecting him out of feelings of obligation or something similar, but it was so poorly addressed that I just felt baffled.

The whole situation with Yelena's family was also so poorly written and very overdramatic. I could have handled the dead sister being the ex-girlfriend of the love interest. I could have handled her raising her dead sister's baby. I could have handled her brother being some evil CEO saboteur. I could have even handled her father being some cartoonish villain who only cared for the public image of the family. But, I could not handle all of those things happening at once. Pick two Paula! That is too much drama even for a Harlequin novel!

I was bored. I skimmed through the latter half of the book. I didn't care what happened, I just wanted it over. If I could give no stars, I would.

A pretty romance between a dashing billionaire and a sweet PA who is hired to help with his public image. This story is utterly romantic, with beautifully-eyed characters and great views of Australian landscapes.

It's very entertaining as the relationship is quite complicated. There's public scandal, family secrets, vendettas and rivalry, two sisters who share an intimacy with the same man, and lots of misunderstandings.

I loved the pictures with the baby, so adorable. And it includes a good redeeming arc for the male character. I thoroughly enjoyed it.
