Obsessed with this book and this world and this series and honestly with Mary Pearson in general! This was the perfect conclusion to the duopoly

Vow of Thieves by Mary E. Pearson is the sequel to Dance of Thieves, and it definitely didn't disappoint. Picking up right where the first book left off, we follow Kazi and Jase as they navigate political intrigue, betrayal, and their growing feelings for each other. The stakes are even higher this time, and Pearson does an incredible job of balancing action with emotional depth.

I absolutely loved the chemistry between Kazi and Jase. Their relationship has so much tension and vulnerability and watching them grow together while fighting for their people was gripping. The world-building is as rich as ever, and the story itself is full of unexpected twists that kept me on the edge of my seat.

What really stands out in Vow of Thieves is the way Pearson explores themes of loyalty, power, and sacrifice. Kazi and Jase both face incredibly difficult choices, and I found myself questioning what I would do in their shoes. The pacing is perfect, and there’s enough action and suspense to keep you hooked, but the emotional moments never feel rushed or forced.

Vow of Thieves is a must-read. It’s a perfect blend of action, heart, and tension, and I couldn't put it down.

Jason and Kazi are soulmates for sure. This was such a good conclusion to the duology and would looooove to have a couple of other books, but I know this is a better outcome for their story. I liked seeing glimpses of our favorite characters from Pearson's other books and looking deeper into the history of their world. Very well done and exciting throughout.

This was a perfect ending to this duology. I love Mary E. Pearson's writing because it sucks me in and I want to binge read her books all the way through.

Kazi and Jase must return to Tor’s Watch in this sequel to Dance of Thieves. They know they will face Jase’s family who may not forgive Kazi for taking Jase away, but when they get close, they realize they face something far worse than the family’s grudges. The Ballengers have gone into hiding, and the kingdom has been taken over by vicious king who will stop at nothing to best the Patrei. This sequel does start off a bit slow, but once it picks up at about the halfway point, it doesn’t stop. Kazi and Jase are separated through most of the book, and their alternating perspectives keep readers turning pages to see if and when they will be reunited. This is definitely not a standalone novel, but it weaves the story of the first book into new and exciting places. This book was a satisfying ending to this intricate story of family and fighting at all costs to protect it.

Absolutely LOVE this book! This series is my absolute favorite. Mary E. Pearson has a forever big fan.

This was such an great duology. I loved reading about Kazi and Jase and the whole setting this time around. Mary E. Pearson is an auto buy author for me and does not disappoint here,

I really enjoyed this spinoff, but I would have loved a little less insta-love. Also, some more info about Eben's and Natyia's relationship. Plus, the "big bad" could have been more developed.

A fantastic addition to the intriguing storyworld Pearson has created, one I always hate to leave when the story is over. All I have to say is I want more!

Invigorating and excellent end to Kazi/Jase duology. Pearson avoids most of the pitfalls that usually follow a ship getting together in book 1 & book 2 is stronger for it. Uses a clever villain; hidden hand stirring the pot and advancing the plot.

Vow of Thieves is a decent follow-up to Dance of Thieves, but I struggled with the pacing and lack of emotional journey in this installment. To be fair, though, fantasy and I have not been getting along this year, so bear that in mind.

The only characters I truly find developed in this series are the main two, Jase and Kazi. They spend most of Vow of Thieves separated, so most of the novel felt like a waiting game, where they slowly plotted and maneuvered. That's never going to be my optimal kind of fantasy. Admittedly, I did think that villain of the piece was a pleasant narrative surprise and that Kazi's role is a complex one. Still, I do think the villain could have been more developed than he was; he's not quite a stereotypical evil just-to-be-evil guy, but he's not much further developed than that.

Mostly, the book feels long with too few scenes of action, particularly since there's so little emotional movement alongside. Kazi and Jase are largely the same people at the end of the novel as they were at the start, only more confident in their place in the world. It's not particularly compelling for a reader like me who is here to watch the characters grow and change.

I think Mary E. Pearson's immensely talented, but her interests as a writer don't totally align with mine as a reader: she's clearly more interested in world building and plot than character arcs and romance. If you're a reader who appreciates political maneuverings, this one will work much better for you.

Unfortunately, I did not get the chance to read this ARC prior to the book's publication, but we did end up buying it for our library collection.

4.5 stars. I have really enjoyed this world created in the Remnant Series. I'm sad if this is the end of that world though. Hopefully there will be more adventures for some of these characters. This wraps up the duology nicely, but I wish there was more!! This one is continues the story of Jase and Kazi as they return to his land. What they find waiting for them is the opposite of what they expected. Now they have to overcome treachery and distrust at every turn, while wondering if the other is even still alive. They have been strong together, now they have to be strong apart. This was really a great book full of intrigue, suspense, romance and family. I wish it wouldn't end. I can't wait to see what Mary E. Pearson will write next.

I loved this book!!! Such Ana amazing ending to an awesome series. I’ve loved Mary’s writing and storytelling and this novel was no different! It took you on an amazing journey with really well written characters! Loved loved loved this book! Highly recommend checking her work out! You won’t be disappointed!

Vow of Thieves is the sequel to Dance of Thieves and is best read in order. Both of these books come after the events in The Remnant Chronicles.

Kazi and Jase have just secured the promise of the King and Queen to make Tor’s Watch an official kingdom, and they couldn’t be happier. However, there are still many displeased people who are trying to gain control of Tor’s Watch, and they have taken advantage of Kazi and Jase’s absence to take over by force, killing many people in the process. Kazi has been taken prisoner, and Jase is fighting for his life while hidden in the settlement. When they are finally able to, Kazi and Jase continue to fight and find ways to take back their kingdom, though they are separated. Will they prevail and save the Ballengers’ legacy and home, or will all be lost to the usurpers?

I loved and enjoyed this book very much (just like Dance of Thieves). The kind of fantasy that includes political intrigue, fighting for kingdoms, and fantastic character development is my favorite kind, and I believe this series qualifies. The rich detail and realistic characters were captivating, and the emotional impact on me was great as well. I felt stirred to battle myself, and I couldn’t put the book down. I am sad because the series has ended, but also excited to read what the author has next. I highly recommend this series to anyone who enjoys well written fantasy.

This book might even be more gut wrenching than the previous Remnant Chronicles books. You see the return of some characters, obviously, but there's some stuff that goes down like a surprise gut punch. If you enjoyed RC, then you MUST give these books a read!
