This is a story about daydreaming and considering the future of careers geared toward children. It is a rhyming and repetition story with nice illustrations. The message goal is to let children around early elementary age know God will always be with us. This might be a cute book to give as a graduation gift as well. Nevertheless, I'm really mixed on this book. The idea is wonderful, but I felt looking at it as a young one it might be confusing with some words possibility difficult to understand. Also, the idea may need some extra discussion from the grown-up reader to help relay the message properly. I did like that it has the verse in the Bible that is the basis of the book. This is very nice to help add the book to a lesson and it helped me feel this book will be great along with a lesson to best enjoy it as well as get the most out of the it.
This was an easy story to follow and I liked the images. The basis for the story was a good one and whilst I am not religious I think this would help those children who need reassurance they want to do and wherever they want to do that they will always have God with them. The book had a nice rhyming theme which I enjoyed too. It is 3.5 stars from me rounded up to 4 stars for Goodreads and Amazon.
One boring day, Brett imagines running away to become someone new: a zookeeper, a diver, an astronaut, a climber...the possibilities are endless. Brett’s concern in each scenario is that God might not find him. He realises at the end, that their are other things to anchor him to him, but that once he does venture away God will always be close to him.
Bookended by Romans 8:39, this colourful rhyming story reminds children that God will always be with them, whatever adventures they take. The rhyming text is quick to engage with its gentle repeating rhythm and the brightly coloured pages and pictures are sure to catch the eye if any young reader. This would be a great book to use in school when focusing on the value of love.
I received an eARCof this book from the publishers via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5 STARS
I really enjoyed reading this book to my 5 year old daughter and 3 year old son. The message was clear and easy for both of them to understand. No matter where they are and what they decide to do, God will still find them. The illustrations were beautifully drawn. The vibrant colours did not distract from the beautiful melody of rhymes in the book.
It especially warmed my heart when my daughter told me that "God is always with me, so I won't ever get lost!"
I rejoice in reading a great children's book based on bible scriptures. I highly recommend reading this wonderful book to your children. Will God Still Find Me? by Vikki Walton is an EPIC read and will join the ranks of the BIBLIO-ARISTOCRACY!!!
~ Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for generously providing me a copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.
First of all, I absolutely loved the rhyme scheme. It was so simple and sweet, thus making it easy for a child to follow and understand the essence of the message. Even though I'm not a Christian, I love reading verses from the Holy Bible. One such verse is kept as the centerpiece in this picture book and a cute story is woven around it where a little kid named Brett imagines himself doing a variety of jobs. It conveys that one must have faith in the almighty and that he will always be with us, guiding us every step of the way irrespective of where we are and what we do in life.
Although I received a copy of this book from the publisher (via netgalley) all opinions remain my own.
This is a children's book about trying to figure out if God will still find him if he becomes all these different things (I assume) he grows up. The illustrations are colorful and beautiful. It kind of reminds me of "Oh The Places You Will Go" in that it would make a great graduation gift. I think it would be so neat to write in the back, each year what the kid says they want to be when they grow up. Then at the end is a biblical reminder that no matter where we go, he is always with us.
Beautiful story, timeless message. Great for all ages. Something you could read to your child every day of their entire life.
Pros: This book is beautifully illustrated and asks critical questions as well. My kid and I love to read books that rhyme and this was a bonus.
Cons: The words came before the pictures, which made it difficult to understand. Plus, some of the words were too advanced. This book is sad and a little too heavy for a young person.
Will God Still Find Me? by Vikki Walton is a sweet book for kids. I read this book with my eight year old son and he loved it. I think it is perfect for young kids that age or younger. I loved the message of how God loves reaches us no matter what. I received a digital copy of this book from the publisher with no obligations. These opinions are entirely my own.
This delightful rhyming book is based on the scripture Romans 8:39.
" I think I'll run away
thought Brett one boring day.
There's nothing here to do,
But sit and feel so blue."
" I want to have some fun
to yell and jump and run.
A secret place I'll go
Where no one else will know."
Thus begins a journey of exploration by Brett to experience multiple adventures by trying out different occupations that might bring excitement and purpose into his life. What activities might strike his fancy and fulfill his dreams?
He thinks perhaps being an astronaut, a climber of mountains, a spelunker, a sailor, a zookeeper, a diver, a brave knight, and a pilot ( just to name a few ), might be super cool. The refrain in the book that tugs at his heartstrings each time he moves on is... "But will God still find me?" All these undertakings are amazing but will God stay steadfast in his life and be there for him?
The book answers his queries by giving him this answer to tuck into his heart:
"High above the sky or in the deepest ocean - nothing will ever be able to separate us from the love of God. " (Romans 8:39)
These words assure him that no matter where he goes and what he chooses to do with his life, God will always be with him. It alleviates all his fears of ever being separated from God.
The illustrations are vibrant, colourful and expressive and the message of the book is positive and comforting. This book would be a wonderful gift for kids who are moving, graduating or feeling lost and alone. Both young and old will be encouraged knowing that God is omnipotent and will never leave them or forsake them no matter where life takes them. I highly recommend this book.
Using colorful illustrations and creative rhyming, "Will God Still Find Me?" teaches children that God is always by their side. This is a great book to read to young children.
I received an electronic ARC from Morewellson, Ltd. through NetGalley.
A young boy thinks about running away to explore the world. He thinks about all of his options and imagines what he would do in each career. His main concern is whether God will find him and know where he is. The book ends with the reassurance that God will always be with him and find him. He decides to stay home as he's happy there too.
The rhyming text is a little rough at times and does not flow well when reading aloud. The realistic illustrations help readers see the scenarios as Brett imagines them.
Families can read this together as can Sunday School classes.
Will God Still Find Me? is based on Romans 8:39 and tells the story of a young boy who wishes to run away and do all kinds of things: be a knight, a pilot, a spelunker... but wants to know if God will still be able to find him. The pictures nicely illustrate what the boy wishes to do and be.
For young children who are just starting to understand religion, this is a great book to show that God will find you, wherever you go, whatever path you take. While the boy does talk about running away to do these things, it is not encouraged (he'd miss his family). But even if he did, God would find him.
The book is appropriate for all religions that believe in God (as Jesus is not mentioned) and the message is a good one.
