So a slow build beginning can go two ways, it can keep me glued because I know something is coming or it can make me loose interest. Where She Went kept me glued. Kelly Simmons usually keeps me glued to my kindle, plus I needed to know where she went!!

Kelly Simmons kept me interested with the two perspectives and plots twists. I really enjoyed this book and look forward to more from Kelly!

3.5 stars, just about. I found this book intriguing, although the ending felt a bit abrupt, and I think I would have liked to see a little bit more resolution for some of the characters. I did enjoy the writing style, though parts of it felt too slow up to the ending.

But I am glad I read it, as it was not what I had expected.

Bit of a weird story, with an anticlimactic ending. Duel narrators, Maggie and Emma tell the story through alternating POVs and timelines. Maggie is in present day, and we’re hearing Emma’s story as it leads up to where she disappears. Emma is brand new to college and falls head over heels for the newspaper editor. In an attempt to catch a good enough story to impress him, Emma finds herself at the middle of a pimp/escort ring at her college, wherein young girls are recruiting other girls to be part of the club and earn money as sugarbabies. I found Emma’s attitude toward this to be more than a smidge slut shamey. The book from go is basically a race to the finish of Maggie running rampant over everyone, including the cops, and breaking all the rules of process to find her daughter, which she eventually does. From the moment she finds her, the dual timelines converge and it’s more than a little anticlimactic after that. If you thought this story was going to provide resolution to the girls ring you’ll be sorely disappointed. It still wasn’t a bad read it was just a really abrupt ending.

Rarely does a slow burn mystery keep me in rapt attention like this one did! I loved the dual perspectives, the characters, and the surprising twist at the end. Though it is technically an adult mystery, it will also be great for older high school students wanting something with a meatier plot.

In my opinion, this book is more a women’s fiction that a mystery book. A college freshman is missing, and her mother, a cop widow, is trying to find her. The story is written from both women point of view. It is not just two different POV of the same story, but the lives of two characters entangled in each other. We follow Emma, the college girl during the event preceding her disappearance, and her mother after Emma has been reported missing. It was slightly disconcerting at the beginning, but I quickly got used to it. Unexpectedly, I preferred Emma POV. I found it more thrilling. Maybe it was because I could relate too much to a mother’s anxiety with her child missing. Nevertheless, I found the two stories in parallel was interesting. 
They are both strong women in their way.
I liked this story and read it quickly story but never got caught up by it entirely even by the sympathetic characters.

I liked this book but I cant say I loved it. I coudlnt really connect with the characters I found it to be a bit sluggish. I didn't really feel the suspense aspect here. I didn't really like the references to religion either. The book is based on the relationship between mother and daughter.

Could totally relate to the mother. Always worrying something might happen to your children. Fantastic read never quite knowing which way the book will take you

I read a lot of books in this genre, so I had high expectations for this one based on the blurb. While the mystery was interesting and solid, the pace was a bit too slow to keep me actively engaged. The characters weren't particularly likable, and there were some loose ends and the ending felt a bit rushed. Perhaps there will be a sequel. If so, I'm not sure if I'd check it out or not.

Great writing. The main female characters are fleshed out - told from alternating POV of the distraught mom, Maggie and her missing daughter Emma. This pseudo-thriller has a lot going on. In the heart of it is a story about a mom willing to do anything to make sure her daughter is found no matter what it takes.

This book was excellent! Totally kept my attention and I wanted to find out what would become of the main characters. Highly reccomended.

This book has all the makings for an awesome book. Obviously I loved the back and forth between Emma's point of view and Maggie's. I also really enjoyed the backstory of Maggie husband being a cop and how she went about trying to find Emma.

Although a main part of this story is about some seedy things going on with the girls on campus, I think I really identified with Emma because she has a really hard time during her Freshman year in college. I really struggled my first year as well, and although mine wasn't anywhere near as bad as hers I definitely understood how she felt and what she went through.

Although this book didn't totally knock it out of the park for me, it was really enjoyable and I had a lot of fun reading it. I would definitely recommend it if you're having a pool day or going on an airplane.

I made it 20% but just struggled with this book - both the characters and plot. For now it’s a dnf.

This book really didn’t work for me. I don’t feel like labeling this as a mystery/thriller is the correct genre, general fiction or women’s fiction would be more fitting. I think this labeling threw me off. I also didn’t enjoy the main characters, ESPECIALLY, Maggie, Emma’s mother who is a missing college student throughout the book.

Maggie, is the widow of a decorated police officer and this little tidbit is brought up continually. I guess to help us understand why she is such a difficult and irritating person? I never felt empathetic towards Maggie in her journey to find her daughter. I really thought I would relate to this character more as a police wife and mother of two daughters but this was not the case.

The ending was very good and made the book finish on a high for me. I would rate this book 3 stars and would be interested in reading what the author writes next and not go in with any preconceived notions of what it “should” look like.

I read on the author, Kelly Simmons, Goodreads profile, Where She Went, may become a tv/film. I wish her the best and would gladly watch, I hope they cast someone likable. Lol!

I enjoyed this book. I did find I had to concentrate a little as it was going back and forward between Mother and Daughter. Good twists and turns though kept me interested until the ending which was good. Thanks Netgalley. I will read more of this author.

This books is full of intrigue. I loved the chapters changing from past to present and from the mother to the daughter point of view. Great book!!!

I was very disappointed in this book, to the extent that I did not finish it. The premise of the book was what drew me too it as I’m not usually interested in crime books, however, it jumped back and forward too many times to keep my interest.

A quick, fast-paced at times read with a few twist and turns that were very predictable.
As a mother, i can relate to all the feelings that are described in the story.
I liked that we get both pov as it's interesting to know the story from both parts as to how each one sees everything that happens.
What i didn't like is the reference to the church that is a bit overused here and it makes me think that maybe this story is more Christian read than what it's presented (no judging here, just a thought), and the fact that is treated in the thriller category which in my opinion is not or has very few resemblances to it.

Interesting story and was easy to get into for me. The plot was fast paced, I really enjoyed the multiple POV and I would recommend this book. First book by this author and will look into other titles.

Women’s fiction really, this one.

This was decent, good writing and characters. Did they do stupid things sometimes? Yes, no doubt, but overall they were quite likable.

I didn’t feel any real suspense throughout this story even when Emma goes missing. There is a lot going on here and not all of it is pertinent or gets wrapped up by the conclusion which was fitting and realistic (though not overly exciting or “thriller like”).

The portrayal of a smart but naive kid facing the struggles of the first year of college and being away from home were captured well and realistically. The strong relationship bond of this (widowed) mother and daughter was also touching. These are really the draws to hunker down with this one in my opinion.

This isn’t a thriller but it was a good character driven story. If that’s what you enjoy then I would recommend this one. Thanks to NetGalley, the author and SOURCEBOOKS Landmark for a copy in exchange for a review.
