Another engaging book from Heather Graham. A lovely slow burn romance, and an interesting plot. Very enjoyable.
The Summoning by Heather Graham was an enjoyable quick read. Graham has a formula that works for her and this is another book. Special power agent comes in meets special civilian there is some bad guys and they come together to solve the mystery before one of them dies. I am not criticizing by any means. Sometimes you need to pick up a book by an author you like and get what you expect. That is this book. I read it and enjoyed it. I will say it took me a second to figure who the bad guy was but I got there.
3.5 stars rounded to 4 for being exactly what I needed and expected.
Thank you to NetGalley and Harlequin for the free copy. This is an honest review.
Thank you to netgalley, the publisher and the author for the opportunity to read this book in return for review based upon my honest opinion.
I really enjoyed this southern mystery, line and f the Crewe of Hunters series. I enjoy paranormal mystery books, it’s a nice change to go back to one of my favourite genres. This author’s books are always enjoyable, I really enjoyed that this book took place in the south, it seems very picturesque. This author tends to pick historical places for people and create a story around them this book was no exception. I really enjoyed enjoyed our ghosts, they were great characters. This was a really good summer read, there was a mystery or two, a historic house, ghosts and romance. Can’t wait for the next book in the series.

I love the Krewe of Hunters and the writing for Heather Graham. This is the 27th in the series. That seems hard to believe since I think I have read every single one of them. But as with all of the books in the series they can be read as a stand alone.
The best thing about Heather Graham’s writings is how she draws you into the city she is talking about and this one is no different, making me want to jump in the car and head to Savannah, Georgia.
The characters are always enjoyable to read and the ghost that brings aide to the Krewe is wonderful but the city and the history Graham brings to the forefront is the key to the story if you ask me.
If you enjoy the genre of suspense with a bit of paranormal then this is the book and series for you.
Disclaimer:
I received a complimentary copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.
I have liked previous novels by Heather Graham but this one just didn't work for me. There was a lot of civil war history in this book that I found boring and didn't enhance the story in any way except word count. There was also many characters in this story and it was hard to keep track of them, especially since they all seemed on the periphery.
Thank you to NetGalley, the publisher and author for this ARC.
This is the second book I've read in this series, and I liked this one the best. Kristi is a young woman who has inherited a B&B in Savannah, GA. When she suffers through the cheesy seances, but someone who is obviously not a psychic, she is shocked when she meets a couple of ancestors, one from the Civil War, and one from the Revolutionary War. She also meets hunky FBI agent Dallas, and sparks fly. When people keep disappearing, or dying in odd ways, the puzzle just doesn't fit. A good story, and kept me guessing. Ending could have been expanded or defined a bit more, but otherwise one I highly recommend.
Not my favorite from Heather Graham. I'm a big fan of her stories, but this one drug out too much with a lot of history that just couldn't keep my attention.
The Summoning mixed mystery, romance, and the paranormal in one sweet package.
Kristi Stewart operates her recently inherited bed and breakfast in Savannah, Georgia. When her uncle owned the fabulous house, there were rumors of ghosts and frequent séances by the local psychic.
In recent years, two people have died under unusual circumstances and two are missing. Dallas, an FBI paranormal investigator arrives at the B&B just as Kristi realizes she has the ability to see and hear dead people.
Join her and her quirky guests (including a couple of dead relatives) as they attempt to solve murder mysteries both current and of old. This book is a quick read, relaxing and engaging. Intertwined mysteries make it more appealing that the standard story.
Heather Graham provides her normal excellent writing. Both the characters and plot are rich and intricate. Her humor makes you laugh even while checking to make sure no spirits are reading over your shoulder. This is the 27th in this series. This book can be read alone or you can read the entire series. Make a summer reading goal: Start at the beginning and read all of the Krewe books from start to finish.
I received an ARC from Harlequin-Mira through NetGalley in exchange for an honest opinion. This in no way affects my opinion or rating of this book.
Heather Graham continues her Krewe of Hunters paranormal adventures with The Summoning. Kristi Stewart inherited a haunted property in Savanah which her Civil War ancestors were believed to haunt. FBI agent Dallas Wicker is investigating several suspicious deaths in modern Savanah undercover on behalf of the Krewe. Who doesn't want the real story of the deaths of the star crossed husband and wife from the 1860's to emerge? Who is committing murder in the here and now.? Romance is blooming between Dallas and Kirsti under the surveillance of the family ghosts. Great atmosphere. Be sure to read. Highly recommended.
The Summoning by Heather Graham is the 27th book in the Krewe of Hunters series. This is a great series for all who enjoy history with a touch of the paranormal. I am a fan of the authors writing and was thrilled to receive this for review. This is my first book in the series however I found it easy to catch up as the author writes so precisely of the history of the characters. The author has many different series and I have read her other series and always enjoy spending time with her books.
I like this series about ghost and the people of the "krewe". , They travel to seek ghosts to help them and remove them. There is a lot of history here and excellent location writing. I particularly am a fan of how the author writes so definitively of history and the places she features in her books.
I highly recommend this book. I look forward to catching up with this series.
Thank you for the ARC for review My opinions are my own.
The Summoning by Heather Graham is the 27th book in the Krewe of Hunters series, and another great addition. I have read a few books in this series, but each book can be a stand alone. I enjoy this series about ghosts haunting, The Krewe travels to different places to investigate to either help or get rid of ghosts. I enjoy this book because you learn about new places and their history, along with spooky ghosts. I strongly recommend this book and series, for anyone who enjoys a good ghost story.
I reviewed a digital arc provided by NetGalley and the publisher. Thank you.
I first started reading the author's books in the 1990s, the Florida series. While those were fascinating, I find even more amazing how the author can write so many different series, occurring in different times and situations, all leaving the reader asking for more. I have only read a few of the Krewe of Hunters books, but they are just as riveting as the other series. The Cast of Characters at the begining of the book allows the book to be read as a stand alone.
The Krewe of Hunters, are a division of the FBI, but a special division made up of those who can see and talk to the dead. The first time that agent Dallas Wicker learned he could speaks to ghosts, he was but 10-years old. He had just lost his mother and was living with his aunt in Savannah, while his father was deployed overseas. His was drawn to the old cemetery near his aunt's house and that was where he met his first ghost and rescued an old man. Shortly there after his father returned and they moved to Virginia, but his love of old cemeteries and talking to the dead continued.
Kristi Stewart, media consultant and now owner of a bed and breakfast, McLane house, however, only started seeing the dead, when two of her ancestors appeared to her in the ancestral home, warning her that they thought she was in danger. Strange deaths and disappearances have happened in the old neighborhood in Savannah and seem to be centered on McLane house, which she had recently inherited. Follow the puzzling investigation which has more questions than answer, while watching Kristi and Dallas be pushed together by her match making ancestors. Fascinating, well developed and eclectic characters as varied as those on Gilligan's Island and a leave them guessing narrative make this an engrossing read.
I received a free advanced copy of this book from NetGalley.com. This was my unbiased and voluntary review.
Great read. The author wrote a story that was interesting and moved at a pace that kept me engaged. The characters were easy to invest in.
Kristi Stewart doesn’t believe in ghosts until the midnight appearance of one of her famous ancestors which sends her fleeing into the night and right into the arms of Dallas Wicker. Dallas is trying to uncover the truth behind a series of seeming random deaths and missing persons. Dallas can’t find any connection between the victims, but someone wanted them gone and it might be linked to the history of the Kristi’s bed and breakfast.
The newest story in the ‘Krewe of Hunters’ series is so suspenseful that readers find themselves holding their breath while their hearts pound in anticipation of what happens next. The characters are strong and very convincing which makes it very easy for the readers to become completely caught up in their story and the relationship between Kristi and Dallas sizzles with electrical chemistry. The romance between the hero and heroine builds throughout the story and is sweet and passionate while the relationship has a couple of obstacles that will have to be overcome.
The plot has a steady stream of events that builds up the suspense with each event giving up a clue so that readers are kept guessing throughout the story and readers hold their breath and their hearts pound in anticipation right alongside the characters with each revelation. Readers can’t possibly put this book down once they start reading it and the ghosts are quite charming to the delight of readers.
What a fantastic book. It is one that kept me reading late at night and I was hooked from the very beginning.
I do highly recommend.
Another great book by Heather Graham, I've been following along with the Krewe of Hunters series for a while now and I can say that I've enjoyed each and every book. This author got a talent of making unique stories. While I feel a sorta deva vu with another one of her books when it comes to this book I do like how the author managed to make her own twist and make a different story that stands out. I loved getting to know the characters and follow along as they journey though finding out more about the past and figuring out the present day murders that where taking day. While I do recommend readers to check out this book its even more better when you read this series as a whole. I did mix and match and was scrambled hardly did I even follow this book in order and still managed to catch up and get ahold of each book that the library and ebook library to carry and I've enjoyed each and everyone. You won't be disappointed!
I have read every Krewe of Hunters books. They never get old. Loved the location. Savannah is such a historical, haunted city. Great locale for this book.
Does the past help or haunt you?
Kristi Stewart inherits McLane House Bed and Breakfast and everything is going well until….Kristi sees a ghost of a long gone ancestor from the war. Is He here to help or to haunt Kristi and the guests at the B&B? How is it that all of a sudden Kristi can see ghosts?
Dallas is on his way to Savannah to investigate the disappearance of several residents who seemed to have died in quite unusual circumstances. Right at the heart of these disappearances is McLane House where Dallas has made a reservation.
Kristi and Dallas meet just after Kristi sees her first ghost and runs out the door in a fright, straight into the arms of a handsome stranger. Is this destiny?
This is the 27th book in the Krewe of Hunters series, but Heather Graham does a fabulous job of introducing past characters in a way that you wouldn’t have any problems catching up. I’ve read a few of the series, but am a few behind and had no problem jumping right into the story. Kristi, Dallas, the staff , the guests and the ghosts of McLane House are so brilliantly written that you won’t want to put this one down. It has just the right amount of intrigue, romance and ghosts. All in all, a beautiful story from a brilliant writer. Thank you to Harlequin – Mira and NetGalley for an advanced copy of the book to review. I thoroughly enjoyed it.
The Summoning is another winning romantic paranormal suspense in the Krewe of Hunter series. Blending her successful mix of suspense and ghosts, the author snags the reader on page one and brings the story home for a satisfying HEA. Kristi Stewart inherited her great uncle's haunted McClane House Bed and Breakfast in the heart of Savannah. Rich in history, its of little wonder that the house is guarded by the ghosts of her ancestors. Two mysterious disappearances and two suspicious deaths have caught the interest of the Krewe who sends in agent Dallas Wicker to investigate. Working under the guise of private detective, Dallas rents a room at the McClane House that seems to be at the heart of the strange happenings. Kristi's first ghostly encounter sends her straight into Dallas's arms. A FBI agent and an inn keeper who both can see the dead find love in the pursuit of justice. Hollywood types and seances mix to create a enthralling tale of danger and intrigue. Fascinating ghosts, strong characters, and a twisted mystery capture the imagination and bring the story to life. My voluntary, unbiased review is based upon a review copy from Netgalley.
I love the Krewe of Hunter books and I loved this one.
Ms Graham can surely write a book that mixes paranormal, suspense and romance and this one was no exception.
I was hooked since the first pages and didn't want to put it down.
I liked the atmosphere, the likable characters, both human and ghosts, and the Savannah setting.
It was an exciting reading experience that helped in a moment when I felt really blue making me smile and root for the characters.
I look forward to read the next installment in this series.
Highly recommended!
Many thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for this ARC, all opinions are mine.
