Love on Lexington Avenue was an enjoyable enough read; I liked Claire and Scott's dynamic. They're both not what each other was expecting, which led to some banter. I also liked that Layne made it a point that, while Claire is getting over Brayden, she is primarily remaking herself. Despite how this series began, it's not all about the cheating ex-husband.
I thought the romance was a little too fast towards the end, and honestly a lot of their interactions lacked something to me. I liked it enough to finish it, but I was kind of skimming towards the end.
I can't wait for the third book though! The bright side of this book was seeing more of Audrey and Clarke.
I really enjoyed this book. I wasn’t sure when it started because I was reading this as a stand alone and the premise of three women who had all been wronged by the same man seemed a little icky to me. But I trust Lauren and she did pull through. I wish there had been a bit more interaction between the main characters but they were both so well developed and you could learn so much about them from their interactions with their friends that I still loved each of them. Great book!
I enjoyed this, a lot. A fast paced read where a house renovation is one of the characters. That always appeals to me, when a building is part of the story.
I liked that these were flawed people, just trying to get through life without hurting anyone, or themselves. Great friendships, chemistry, storytelling.
This was a cute fun read. The book begins with Claire’s husband’s funeral and what she has in common with 2 other women.
Throughout the book Claire puts herself out there.
I can’t wait for the next book in the series.
This was exactly what I needed in my life right now- an easy read that has a good romance, some chick friend moments, and just light hearted good writing. You could read this as a stand alone but having read the first one helped know the characters and give it that extra touch. Love her writing, never disappoints. Can’t wait for Audrey’s story to unfold next!
Thank you NetGalley & Simon and Schuster for the opportunity to read this book.
Love on Lexington Avenue is a cute story, and I really enjoyed it. Quick read, great for summer. I would recommend it!
If you love romantic comedies, will they/won't they couples, and a New York City backdrop, this is the story for you! I really enjoyed Lauren Layne's Love on Lexington Avenue. It was a quick read, and totally delectable-- perfect for a relaxing day at the beach. Plus, the female friendship component is sweet and enjoyable.
Thank you NetGalley for the opportunity!
Lauren Layne has another 5-star read on her hands. Love on Lexington Avenue was even better than the first book in the Central Park Pact series. I laughed, cried, and squealed at the chemistry between a bitter widow and a rough around the edges contractor!
Claire Hayes had given up on love. She was burned by the man she thought she would spend the rest of her life with. She made a pact with 2 of her husband's mistresses. They would never let each other fall in love with a man who was a lie and a cheat.
Claire meets her new contractor, Scott, and things start to get interesting. He is arrogant, sexy, and has a dinosaur of a dog named Bob. The dynamic of their friendship is perfection. Scott was also burned by his previous fiancee and doesn't want a relationship...EVER. One night stands are normal for him. He is a commitment-phobe and never stays in one place for too long. Claire seeks Scott's assistance in becoming her wingman. She wants to find a man that she actually likes for a one night stand. She wants to get her groove back and picks up some good flirting/confidence skills from Scott.
Of course, their relationship begins to feel strained as feelings become involved. Claire has been told not to fall for Scott, but he makes her feel happy. And she hasn't felt this way in a very long time.
Does he feel the same way? Is he capable of loving someone again?
So many questions that can only be answered by reading this delectable book.
Love on Lexington Avenue is a must read! I am so lucky to have read an early copy. I was so excited to read it after book 1 and so glad I did!
I give Love on Lexington Avenue 5 stars. It was an addicting contemporary romance with an awesome heroine in Claire Hayes. It reminds me that we are all capable of love even when we have been burned by a relationship. This book is for every person who has been through a rough breakup and has come out on top!
Very enjoyable. Poor Claire had so much to grieve for and I think she did a great job. I loved how she wanted to be Strawberry Lemonade. Despite everything she had been through, she put herself out there with Scott. He had some pretty legit reasons to be so closed off to a relationship, even if he would not acknowledge them. Claire was so strong and was not afraid to call him on it. Scott was a bit frustrating, but he redeemed himself in the end.
I've been counting down the days until summer break so I can finally binge on all the Lauren Layne novels I've been dying to read. But I couldn't wait any longer to dive right into Love on Lexington Avenue, the second standalone romance in The Central Park Pact series. Well I'm so freaking glad I didn't wait because this book was everything I needed in my life today. It was so cute, so satisfyingly romantic, so perfectly paced and I enjoyed every second.
Of the three women in this "pact", I've been most anxious to get Claire's story. Of all the women left reeling in the wake of Brayden's emotional destruction, I've been most interested in finally seeing Claire come to terms with everything her husband had done. While Aubrey, Naomi and Claire have all been harmed by this man's deceit, Claire's brokenness struck me as the most profound and I hoped this book would do her justice by properly examining her heartache and betrayal and giving her a love story she truly deserved. I was so beyond thrilled to read her story and see her get not only everything I hoped for but so so so much more I never could've anticipated.
This book was so good. The story that evolves between Claire and Scott felt refreshing and light, with just the right amount of emotional heft and drama. It's as much about friendship and healing as it is about love. I adored these characters, the banter, the tangle of baggage and grief and anger and lust that ever so slowly unwound itself as this story evolved... it was so well done. The show burn, the workplace romance that began with a bit of an 'enemies' vibe but evolved into an unlikely friendship of sorts rife with complicated emotion and reluctant attraction... It was so quintessential Lauren Layne. It was familiar yet new, fresh and fun with just the right amount of humor and heartache. I just loved it and I'm more excited than ever to read all the delicious romances from this author.
I was able to read this just after falling in love with the first in the Central Park Pact series, Passion on Park Avenue, and I loved it so much! A fun, easy romance with a lovable cast of characters that old and new fans of Layne’s will adore. Recommend it highly!
Lauren Layne writes a great mix of comedy and romance. Can't wait for the next one in the series. Not necessary to read in order, but you're going to want to read them all.
I don't know why but I just love this series! this installment started off a little slow but the romance was so cute and by the end I just wanted more!
Lauren Layne continues her Central Park Pact series with “Love on Lexington Avenue,” this time focusing on the bitter and jaded Claire Hayes, a widow who found out her deceased husband had been cheating on her for over a year with several women.
Convinced there are no more good men and wanting to get rid of every last vestige of the cheating jerk’s presence, Claire decides to redecorate her home only to come across the rude, unsociable, and sexy contractor who will be in her space for the foreseeable future.
Scott Turner is a wanderer. His outstanding skills take him all over the world but as a favor to his best friend he’s accepted working on Claire’s house. He doesn’t hesitate to express his opinions especially on Claire’s fondness for pink.
As the two get to know each other, Claire begins to see the good man underneath the grumpy exterior while Scott discovers the wonderful woman who is both complicated and easygoing.
This is yet another delightful slow burn, fade to black romance with lots of verbal back and forth that had me hooked from start to finish. Both Claire and Scott are charming characters who had been burned in the past and deserved a second shot at love. And I wasn’t the only one who believed that. Claire’s best friends help out in the crafty ways.
The story’s cosmopolitan New Your backdrop is ever present in Lauren Layne’s stories and adds a lovely layer. But the essence of the series, that is the implausible friendship fashioned between Claire and her late husband’s two lovers, continues to be a strong testament to sisterhood.
Love on Lexington Avenue is another wonderful addition to the series. It’s an entertaining feel-good story with endearing characters. I’m looking forward to reading the next installment.
Passion on Park Avenue is book #2 of the Central Park Pact series by Lauren Layne. It’s a standalone, contemporary romance, told from both points of view with a happy ending.
I LOVED this book.
First, I love LL. I’ve read all of her books. Passion on park avenue , the first in this series, was a 4 star for me. But this, the second in the series, was great. I loved Claire and Scott, and their romance. LL’s writing was impeccable. I loved that there are sexy times but not descriptive ones. It just worked for this one. I can’t wait to read the Final book in the series, I’m sure she is saving the best for last, a la Nora Roberts style! THANK you to netgalley for the ARC!!
I really adore this series! Love on Lexington Avenue is the second installment in the Central Park Pact series and I absolutely LOVED it! This addictive series is based on three women (Naomi, Claire, and Audrey) who met and befriended each other in the most unexpected fashion, but forge a strong bond nonetheless.
Love on Lexington Avenue centers around Claire Hayes and her journey to renovate her home and reinvent her life with the end goal to find her new normal! In the process of renovating her house, Claire’s friend recommends a fantastic contractor, Scott Turner. To say the two definitely didn’t hit it off initially would be a huge understatement! I always enjoy an enemy(ish) to lovers premise and I couldn’t wait to see the journey Lauren Layne took these two on!
Everything about this novel worked for me! I found the captivating storyline filled with laughs, sass, and steam! I enjoyed going in the second novel in this series already knowing most of the characters— so exciting to diving back into their worlds. In true Lauren Layne fashion, this novel was a fantastic romance novel that packed a lot of depth. Love on Lexington Avenue is a complete 5 star read that I feel everyone should read! I absolutely cannot wait for the next book is MUST READ series!
I love this story. Is my first book of this series, but is my normal on Lauren Layne book, I dont read in order.
Claire and Scott need each other in their life. They help close the wounds of the past and start a new happy life. The characters was developed at a pace you can't put the book down. The love evolve and grows in a beautiful love story.
I enjoy reading this book and recommend it.
I received a ARC from Netgalley for a honest review.
Love on Lexington Avenue is the 2nd book in Lauren Layne’s Central Park Pact series.
Claire and Scott are both trying to move on from past betrayals. Claire is attempting to move beyond her vanilla rut life after her cheating husband’s death a year ago. Scott moves from job to job, town to town and lives in a state of denial about his broken engagement from years ago.
They are placed in a variety to situations that reveal the complexity of who they are and who they want to be.. Their friendship and attraction develops through time and is romantic, funny, and sincere.
Lauren Layne is so good. She writes women you want to be friends with and men you just want to be with. She is so great at writing friendships between her characters in all her series. There is humor and heart, everything you want in a good friend.
Looking forward to Audrey and Clarke’s HEA next.
Thank you NetGalley and Gallery Books for the ARC
LL has a way with words. I have loved each and every book of hers, including this one. Scott and Claire just have that spark. The one where they first meet and you go "yep, you're destined to be together". They are polar opposites in most ways but fit together in a way neither of them expected. This series is one of my all time favorites. It has laughs, hot guys, smart women, and genuine love and romance. I cannot wait for the last book in the series!
Such a good book!! You really get into the story. It’s almost like talking over drinks with your friends. Just a warning you will not want to put it down.
