This is the fifth book in the Lucky Paws Petsitting series and if you've enjoyed the previous four then of course you will enjoy this one too! Will Piper get married? How much trouble will Daphne get herself into this time? The same cast of quirky characters, four-legged included, from that pet-loving town Sylvan Creek. Just like with the previous books I always think I have it figured out and I'm always wrong; I love it when that happens. It's definitely a series I look forward to diving into when a new book comes out!

I received an ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. I love Blake's Pet Sitter mysteries. Daphne and Socrates are so funny at times that even if you are in a frump they will get you out of it. Wonderfully entertaining and fun to read. Enjoy! 📚📚📚📚

Abagail the wedding planner might have been a bad idea and a pest in general but murder? Daphne knows her sister Piper's fiancé Roger didn't do it but who did? Turns out there's a list of suspects. Daphne's own love interest Jonathan has gone to the West Coast and she's missing him. Her business (she makes pet treats and does pet sitting) is busy. Her dog Socrates- what a gem! This classic cozy rises on the strength of its characters, some of which are animals (some of the best ones, btw). It's got a few twists, some recipes (for pet treats), and a genial approach. Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC.

Fantastic fun read. Love Jonathan and Daphne. I love that he continues to have patience with her and he just "gets" her. Great mystery. Fun ending!

Something Borrowed, Something Mewed is the 5th installment in the Lucky Paws Petsitting Mystery series. Daphne Templeton is a pet-sitter and everyone in Sylvan Creek is getting ready for her sister Piper's wedding. Daphne and Piper's Mother hires wedding planner Abigail Sinclair who has some interesting ideas on the wedding. Independence theme, statue of liberty bridesmaid dresses... wow. Lots of wedding drama and to make things worse Abigail is found dead. Daphne jumps in and helps keep things organized as well as figure out who killed Abigail. Daphne and Socrates (her pet Basset Hound) are so adorable. The mystery is sold and the story moves at a good pace it is hard to put the book down. This series is always good and looking forward to the next installment.

A veritable treasure chest of canines, felines, weddings and murder. Although this was my first book read in the Lucky Paws Pet Sitting series, I can see why it's a favorite for so many reviewers. Daphne Templeton 's sister is scheduled to be we'd in an affair grown larger by the two mothers-in-law to be when a rain storm, a booking scheme and murder cause the postponement. Lots of fun!

I received a free copy of this book through Netgalley and voluntarily reviewed it.

I just love this series, it's one of my favorite cozy mystery series. And every time a new book arrives I am excited to follow Daphne and her dog Socrates on another adventure where they solve a murder mystery. In this book her sister Piper is getting married, but things take a turn for the worse when the wedding planner turns up death.

I liked the mystery in this one. At times it felt like we had all the pieces, but they didn't make sense yet. And other times I felt like I was missing an important piece. I wasn't sure who to suspect as no one seemed quite right and then the reveal of who did it was great. It made sense looking back, but it was a great reveal learning how it all happened. I also liked how the whole mystery progressed with Daphne right in the middle of it and figuring out what happened and revealing secrets and uncovering truths along the way.

I really enjoyed this book and I liked how besides the mystery there are also enough other plot lines going on. Piper and Roger's wedding is an important part of this book, as well as Roger's mysterious sister, Daphne and Jonathan hit some struggles when he has to go to another place for work, then there is the upcoming pet event where they go on the lake with boats and costumes. It's a lot of fun and I like seeing all the plot lines progress throughout the book to be wrapped up with a great finale at the end.

This series also has a great group of characters. I really like Daphne, who is curious and gets involved in the mysteries. I like how she cares about her friends, humans and animals alike. She's great to read about. Then we have the usual cast of side character from Jonathan Black to Daphne's best friend Moxie, as well as Daphne's mom and sister and ofcourse Socrates and a bunch of other pets like Snowdrop, Artie, Axis and Little Tim. The amount of characters grows with each book and I like how side characters and animals we met in previous books continue to play a role. This series has an awesome amount of continuity. I also like how there are new side characters we meet in each book and some I wonder if we'll continue to see in later books.

And it has one of my favorite romances in cozy mysteries. Daphne and Jonathan are so great together and I loved seeing them as a couple in this book and how they deal with their first struggles as a couple. Jonathan will really do a lot for her and I think Daphne is slowly starting to realize that.

To summarize: There's just something about this series that's so fun! The pet crazy town, the pets and the characters who come to life and the awesome mysteries. The mystery in this one was a great one. I really liked the reveal and how it all made sense and fell on it's place. I had a hard time settling on a suspect in this case as none of them seemed quite right, like we were missing a piece of the story, which makes sense in the end. I enjoyed reading about Daphne again in this book and the awesome group of side characters, both humans and pets. I am quite fond of the amount of continuity and how characters that got introduced in previous books continue to play a role. I also liked the romance in this one and seeing Daphne and Jonathan as a couple finally. Besides the well done mystery, there are also a bunch of other side plot lines that are woven throughout the book. All in all another awesome read in this series and I can't wait for the next book!

Something Borrowed, Something Mewed is the fifth in Bethany Blake’s Lucky Paws Pet Sitting Mystery series. The storyline is well plotted, and the characters are well developed. This book held my attention from beginning to the end and has plenty of twists and turns, and no shortage of potential suspects to keep the reader guessing. This steadily paced book is an enjoyable, clean read, with an interesting mystery and touches of humor and romance. Ms. Blake provides sufficient background information that this book can easily be read as a standalone. I’m looking forward to seeing what future adventures are in store for Daphne and her friends.

Daphne Templeton has a Ph.D. in philosophy, is the owner of Lucky Paws Pet Sitting in Sylvan Creek, Pennsylvania, and because she loves baking healthy treats for cats and dogs, she opened Flour Power, a bakery for pets. She has a Basset Hound named Socrates, who is her loyal companion, and a black Persian cat named Tinkleston. She lives in Plum Cottage on her sister, Piper’s, farm, Winding Hill. Piper is a veterinarian and is engaged to Professor Roger Berendt. Daphne has been dating Detective Jonathan Black, a former Navy SEAL, who’s on special assignment in San Diego, California. Jonathan has a well-behaved Chocolate Labrador named Axis and an energetic one-eared, crooked toothed, drooling Chihuahua named Artie. Moxie Bloom is her best friend, has a white rat named Sebastian, and owns Spa and Paw, a salon for humans and pets. Daphne’s mother, Maeve Templeton, is the owner of Maeve Templeton Realty.

Piper and Roger moved up the date of their wedding because he’s been offered a last-minute opportunity to be a guest lecturer for the fall term at a university in Manchester, England, and Maeve Templeton and Roger’s mom, Beverly Berendt, hired a wedding planner, Abigail Sinclair, of Artful Engagements & Events. Imagine everyone’s shock when they learn the wedding venue had been promised to five bridal parties, in addition to Piper and Rodger, on the same day by the same wedding planner without reserving the resort for any of them. Everyone believes Abigail Sinclair is a scam artist on them and has run off with their money, but when Daphne goes to Abigail’s home to check on her cat, Ms. Pebbles, she discovers her body in a fountain. With Jonathan on special assignment and not officially working the case, Detective Fred Doebler’s hands are full finding the murderer in the large pool of suspects. Unfortunately, Roger is among those suspects and Daphne is determined to clear his name, and as Maid of Honor, find a wedding and reception location and save her sister’s wedding before his scheduled departure in two weeks. With her sleuthing cap on, she interviews people and finds the body of one of her interviewees floating in the lake during the town’s fireworks display. Just as things are heating up in his relationship with Daphne, Jonathan is offered a permanent position with NCIS in San Diego.

I received an Advance Reader Copy of this book from NetGalley and voluntarily reviewed it.

SOMETHING BORROWED, SOMETHING MEWED, the fifth book in the Lucky Paws Petsitting Mystery series by Bethany Blake, is another terrific addition to one of my favorite series in publication. A wedding planner out of control, competing mother-of-the-bride and mother-of-the-groom, adorable dogs galore, and a Harley-riding bridesmaid with a pet pig… Ms. Blake provides a rollicking tale that had me laughing out loud many times. Not only does she weave many humorous situations into a tightly plotted mystery, but she has a creative touch with pun-y business names and pet puns to fit the theme. In addition to an entertaining story, the author has endearing characters like protagonist Daphne Templeton. She’s a free-spirted young woman who holds a PhD in Philosophy, but she’s settling down and has opened a petsitting business and an organic pet treat bakery, Flour Power, in her home town. The characters are like catching up with old friends: both comforting and exciting to find out what’s been happening in their lives. Not only are the human characters well-developed, the four-footed furry friends are just as charming. I know I’ve said it before, but I adore the protagonist’s sidekick Basset hound, Socrates. He has a personality that is just as delightful as any human sidekick and I love each scene he is in.

When Daphne finds the wedding planner murdered on the eve of her sister’s wedding, she needs to step in and calm the bride and groom’s nerves. Except she finds out the groom doesn’t have an alibi, but his bride-to-be, Daphne’s sister, believes in his innocence. The author effortless weaves in the clues and subplots and kept me turning pages long into the night to find out “what happens next.” There were twists and turns in the mystery that I didn’t see coming along with the twists with Daphne’s romantic interest, Detective Jonathan Black. Yet in the end, the threads of the characters and the story are brought together into a satisfying, heartwarming conclusion…that once again has me waiting impatiently for the next book to release.

Ms. Blake includes several cat treat recipes at the back of the book along with a recipe for humans.

Thank you to NetGalley, the publisher and the author, for an ARC of this book, in exchange for an honest review.
I was lucky enough to have read the 1st 3 books in this series and I loved them all.
I thought this book was a funny and extremely enjoyable cozy mystery.
The characters were all lovable and quirky, the location was a place that I would love to live in and the mystery was original and complex.
I highly recommend this book and all the books in the series and I can’t wait to read the next book in the series.

Something Borrowed, Something Mewed is the fifth installment in the Lucky Paws Petsitting Mystery series featuring Daphne Templeton and her philosophical basset hound, Socrates. Things are buzzing in Sylvan Creek as preparations are under way for the upcoming wedding between Daphne's sister Piper and her fiance, Roger. Unfortunately, the girls mother Maude has hired event planner Abigail Sinclair, who has decided on an over the top Fourth of July themed wedding complete with bridesmaid dresses resembling the Statue of Liberty.

Daphne also is tasked with pet sitting for Abigail's feline, Ms. Peebles. The little feline always seems to be caught in precarious situations and constantly needs rescuing so when Daphne goes to check on the cat and can't find her she begins searching through Abigail's house and stumbles across Abigail's body submerged in the courtyard fountain.

With her boyfriend Detective Jonathan Black away in California on an assignment and determined not to let his partner Detective Fred Doebler once again accuse one of her family or friends of murder, Daphne sets out with Socrates to track down a killer. Nosing around it doesn't take long to discover that Abigail wasn't running her event planning business on the up and up, and plenty of suspects emerge including the groom's uncle, Brother Alf Sievers, who runs a monastery, Daisy Carpenter who owns the local eatery, In a Pickle, and is the human handler of Snowdrop (Socrates girlfriend) and Abigail's own employees.

A hilarious and delightful romp from the first page to the last, this latest installment solidifies the series as my absolute favorite in the cozy genre. Perfect mysteries, the number one canine companion, a cast of critters including cats, a rat and a mini pig and just the right touch of romance between the humans (and pets) I strongly encourage everyone to take a trip to Sylvan Creek.

I received an advanced copy of Something Borrowed, Something Mewed from NetGalley via Kensington Publishing. While not required to write a review I am more than happy to offer my honest opinion.

Wedding bells are ringing for Daphne's sister, Piper, and her fiance, but when the embezzling event planner is found murdered in her backyard Daphne must help clear Roger's name so that he and Piper can begin their happily ever after. Wonderfully written, as usual, by author Bethany Blake, Something Borrowed, Something Mewed is a sweet cozy mystery that left this reader feeling warm and fuzzy and wanting to move to the very pet friendly town of Sylvan Creek. An absolute gem, a pleasure to read, and a mystery that kept me guessing! 5 stars!!!

Daphne runs a pet sitting business and a pet treat bakery. Her sister Piper is about to be married on the July 4th weekend, the festivities being run by a wedding planner. When the wedding planner is found murdered the morning after the rehearsal dinner, Piper's fiance is the main suspect. And, the day of the wedding, the couple learns that the planner had booked several other weddings at the same venue, resulting in their ceremony being cancelled. Daphne tries to figure out who really killed the planner and to plan a new wedding for her sister.

There are lots of unique characters to keep track of in this mystery, and the plot is quite complex. That helps to keep one's interest. I'm not as fond of the emphasis on dogs in this book (because I'm a cat person), but some might find that a plus.

I think this is one of the cutest cozy mystery series out at the moment. When the relationship between a pedantic Basset Hound and a reforming snooty, pampered Poodle can be a focal point, you know it’s something different.

While the pooches and the kitty cats and the pet pig and even the pet rat (yeah, don’t ask) make star appearances, they enhance the storyline rather than detract from it. Socrates, Daphne’s Basset hound, makes an excellent sounding board for her theorizing. It’s not overdone and it works.

In terms of the murder mystery, it’s a tough one. There are numerous suspects who have very valid reasons for wanting Abigail Sinclair dead. Opportunities for the murder and access to potential murder weapons are also plentiful. Each suspect has well-explained backstories which adds to the complexity of the mystery. The pacing is good with no major lulls in the forward momentum of the tale. But perhaps we could do with a touch less ‘forced’ suspense at the end of each chapter.

The big reveal is a mixed bag with some expectations met and one curveball. But the tension is just right and Daphne and Socrates work together to rescue themselves.

The Daphne and Jonathan scenes were fun and romantic to read. They were the icing on this cute mystery tale. I’m definitely sticking with this series! Disclaimer: I voluntarily read and reviewed this book courtesy of NetGalley and Kensington Books. All opinions expressed are my own.

Daphne is back in another fun romp from Bethany Blake! Piper is getting married, Socrates is courting Snowdrop, and Moxie is making costumes. Once again, Daphne finds herself at the middle of a murder investigation, though this time without Detective Black. Some fun new characters and a twist on the murder. This series just gets better and better!

Daphne is back at, and this time she is ruining her sister’s wedding by finding the event planner dead the day of the ceremony. At least that is what her mother Maude Templeton says. Between you and me the planner needed to go for a variety of reasons , one being the fact that she is a swindler and other is because no one should look like the Staue of Liberty as a bridesmaid. Poor Daphne, she can’t help it if she happens to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. Or is she in the wrong place at the right time? Having a PhD in philosophy I am sure she could wax poetic about it with her trusty sidekick, the brilliant basset Socrates. Daphne certainly has enough on her plate, trying to be the best bride’s maid possible, best pet sitter possible (yes she is fostering yet another victim’s fur baby), best new business shop owner for Flour Power, and last but not least, best girlfriend. That’s right, Daphne and detective Jonathan Black are officially a couple, unfortunately there are a couple of states separating them while he works remotely for San Diego’s NCIS. This one had me on the edge of my seat all the way around. You will never guess who the guilty party is, and I’m certainly not going to spoil the surprise. Love, love, love this latest installment!

As Daphne and the gang prepare for Pipher and Roger’s wedding, things quickly head south when the venue has been booked for multiple weddings on the same day by the same wedding planner, and said wedding planner is found dead after scamming so many couples. But Roger is a prime suspect and that is the biggest hurdle that needs to be cleared before he and Pipher can marry.

With so many couples in the same position there are quite a few suspects, but who truly killed Abigail? Daphne won’t let her sister delay the wedding and to do that, she is going to have to figure out who the murderer is, because it’s not Roger!

Daphne and Jonathan have their own challenges when he is offered a job in San Diego. But Daphne’s love for Jonathan and desire for him to be happy leads her to the only decision she can make, set him free to follow his dreams.

Love, marriage and the long road to finding happiness is a theme throughout this one and you’ll be cheering, crying, and aching at various parts. But you’ll have enough suspects and red herrings to keep you guessing close to the end. Can’t wait for the next entry in the series later this year!
