This is one in a series but all can be read as a stand alone. This book had many laugh out loud moments! But it was hard for me to connect with the main character she seemed a smidge to closed off for me. But Jackson I loved him and I loved how open he was and fine with saying what was on everyone’s mind even if everyone else wasn’t up to saying it themselves.

A start to a new series, this book brings us back to Morgan Valley, and some familiar characters. As well-written as all her books are, this story starts out quick and cute, then keeps reeling in the reader with more plot details and character development. Both the hero and heroine have secrets they are keeping. These secrets keep them from moving on in their lives. Together, Jackson and Daisy grow and develop to get where and what they need. I like how the characters and their issues feel real. They are struggling in their own way, yet hide those struggles (too) effectively. Little by little, the details come out— it’s that pacing that really makes this a good story. I received a complimentary copy of this book. This is my freely given, honest review.

It’s been sometime since I read a Kate Pearce novel, but let me tell you. Sitting down and reading this was like coming home after a long year away. It was refreshing, it was captivating and it was full of amazing characters. I love her hot cowboys and the women she creates for them!

Jackson and Daisy were wonderful together! Jackson, home from the Air Force and helping his brother out with the ranch, agrees to help Daisy out, even though she’s turned him down for dates he asks her on. What ensues when this happens? Well, lots of sparks flying off the pages of the books, lots of banter between two amazing characters and a plot line that will leave you wanting more!

This start to an incredible new series is one you don’t want to miss. The characters are vivid, and the plot line comes to life. The descriptions of the small town living are chiseled perfectly and make the reader feel like they are in the center of Morgan Valley. This is definitely a 4 star worthy novel and I look forward to the next book in the series. Well done, Pearce! Well done!

Wonderful addition to an already great series. Kate Pearce has been one of my go to authors when I want to be lost in a book and begging for another! I have read all of her books and they keep getting better and better!

this is another read that is a spinoff of one of my favorite series = I love reading Kate's books. This was a fun read for me - loved revisiting the Morgans as it is one of my favorite series - Jackson is very outgoing!

I loved reading about the Morgans in the first series so this book immediately grabbed my attention. It was great to see some of the characters from that series being carried over into this book.

My only complaint is that the ending felt a little abrupt to me. I didn't really feel that Jackson had any closure to his Air Force issues.

I'm really interested in Adam's story as I think he has a heartbreaking one.

Heartwarming, emotional, sexy, fun and engaging romantic journey filled with family, friends, witty banter, foot in mouth syndrome, lots of small town goodness and exciting second chances. An excellent beginning for this series and I look forward to the next visit.

The story takes place in Morgantown and is a spin-off from another series. Jackson Lymond has come home from the Air Force and is helping his brother with the ranch from the last book. He meets Daisy Miller who is the florist in town and though she will not go out with him he continues to ask. There is a reason why she says no. What does happen is she needs his help for him to be her fake date going out of town. He agrees and this leads to confusion down the road for both of them when people in town think they are dating for real. She is also keeping a secret from her family and wants his help with that as well. All is good except for Jackson wants more of Daisy to not be fake. Just every time he brings it up they end up in an argument for something he has said. Can she get past his bumbling mouth with the boot stuck in it? Read this good story which has characters from her other series as well.

This was a light, fun, witty, easy book to read in a day on my beach. I love how Daisy and Jackson connected. I think it is a great start to a new series.
Many thanks to Kensington Books and to NetGalley for providing me with a galley in exchange for my honest opinion.

The Second Chance Rancher is the first in the new series, which is a spin-off of the Morgan Ranch books. Don't worry, it's a small town so you get a little bit of the characters from the other books.
Jackson is home from the United States Air Force and he's trying to find his place. He didn't expect to be starting over and figures finding someone to spend time with is a good place to start. But a fake relationship isn't what he bargained for.
Daisy Miller is leading a secret life and could use some cover, so Jackson seems like the perfect solution. She needs someone to explain away her late nights in town to her family while she works on her "secret" job. Of course it doesn't hurt that Jackson is hella gorgeous and a good guy to boot. Yet she's not in a place for a real relationship and feelings make things messy. Are they both capable of keeping this on even ground?

This is the first book in a spin off series from the Morgan series. Rachel Morgan got together with Cauy Lymond in the last book of that series and now Jackson his brother is hero in this book. Jackson is a Air Force veteran. He thought it would be his life until something happens and he decides he's done. Now he's home to help his brother and figure out what's next. Then he runs into Daisy Miller the baby girl and only girl of the Miller clan. Her five older brothers drive her nuts sometimes but she can handle them. Daisy is a techy. She had a start up company that didn't go so well and she came back home broken in spirit. Now she's taking another shot at it and keeping it on the downlow. Asking Jackson to be her fake boyfriend to help her cover sounds like a good idea until it all gets complicated by feelings they both agreed not to have. I liked this one but it didn't click for me as well as I had hoped and as much as it did for the Morgan series of books. Cauy and a lot of the Morgan's are in this book which made it a little more fun to read as the characters are familiar. We got a little glimpse at some of Daisy's brothers and some trouble brewing for the family and the town which I'm sure will be addressed as the series continues. A good read for me just not a solid hit out of the ballpark.

What would you say if you were a small town florist to a hunk of a guy who you knew in high school comes back into town, buys flowers from you for another gal then comes back later that day and says he struck out with the other girl then asks you out? The start of an interesting story. Although this is a new series, it is a continuation of a previous series, The Morgan Ranch. So, it is a stand alone. But I suggest going back later and catching up on the Morgan’s. I really, really liked the book. I also love the characters and their families. I have recently become a Kate Pearce fan. This book just reinsures me I will continue to look for her books, past and future.

This is Daisy and Jackson’s story, book one of a series. There story starts with Jackson buying flowers for another woman. That is where the sparks with Daisy start flying. Jackson realizes that he really is not interested in the person he bought flowers for. They (Jackson and Daisy) enter into a fake romance to help keep Daisy’s secret a secret. Is the romance really fake?

THE SECOND CHANCE RANCHER starts off with an ironic chuckle for me and simply kept building from that starting point. While this series is a spin-off from the Morgan Ranch series it does stand on its own. However, having said that we will see some cameo appearances of old friends, after all, they are neighbors and live in the same small town. I adored the Morgan Ranch series and would recommend it not because it’s necessary to enjoy this series, but because it’s a darned good series.

Jackson returned home not because he was really ready but because his brother needed his help running the newly inherited ranch – and for some deeply personal reasons that Jackson isn’t ready to talk about just yet. He has the persona of an outwardly happy-go-lucky kinda guy but there is an ocean of emotions beneath the surface that he hides quite well from most of the rest of the world. That is about to change when he goes flower shopping for the woman he thinks he wants and discovers Daisy is back home and looking for some unusual help that will change both of their worlds.

I have to be careful now to not give away either Jackson’s or Daisy’s secrets because they are vital to the enjoyment of this story – and I don’t willingly do spoilers. I was drawn to both characters but more to Jackson for at times it was difficult for me to really connect with Daisy. I don’t know why but this became Jackson’s story for me. Yet, I’m really looking forward to learning about Daisy’s brothers for they all sound like some – intriguing men.

THE SECOND CHANCE RANCHER will deliver some laugh out loud moments, some frustrations, perhaps a few misty eyes as secrets are revealed. I enjoyed my time back in this world once again. Daisy and Jackson’s romance sets up the rest of the series and provides a romance that shows that even when couples argue or disagree the emotions are still very much alive. I’d call their story realistic for no person or couple is totally perfect but they do work as a loving partnership and that is what truly matters.

*I received an e-ARC of this novel from the publisher via NetGalley. That does not change what I think of this story. It is my choice to leave a review giving my personal opinion about this book.*

I'm surprised Daisy didn't smack Jackson when he comes back to her flower shop to woo her after having crashed and burned the first time around. While the story has a nice flow to it, Jackson seemed to be too simple and naïve to have survived a 10 year stint in the air force. Daisy of course is the one sister in a group of dominant brothers who chase away every boy she's ever dated so when Jackson survives the inquisition, she thinks again.
This story did not hold my interest though I have enjoyed other books by the author. I just couldn't continue and abandoned the book mid way.

Another love story from Morgan valley. In this one ex Air force Jackson and the florist Daisy find their happiness. Their story starts with pretending but with time feeling become real. It is interesting story they both are hiding something. Daisy her double career and Jackson his true self. He has layers upon layers and is not so easy going as it seems on first ball. Another enjoyable read from the series. I volunteered to review an ARC of this book for Netgelly

A good start to this new series by Kate Pearce, The Second Chance Rancher is set in the same world as the Morgan Ranch. I enjoyed the story and loved Jackson but never really connect with Daisy. Overall I enjoyed the story and many of the characters and will look to read more.

Kate Pearce is one of my favorite authors. I adore the characters and settings of Morgan Ranch and Morgantown.

This is the first book in a new series, concentrating on the Morgan's neighbors, the Millers. The Miller's mother left her 6 children when they were young. I image that the other books in the series will each concentrate on one of them. In the last book, Cauy Laymond came back to Morgan Valley, after he inherited the family ranch, which was a puzzlement, since his father hated him, and as it turned out, that was because he wasn't his biological father. Mark Laymond hated the Morgans (and almost everyone else), but Cauy ends up engaged to to Rachel Morgan. Cauy offered half ownership of the ranch to his brother Jackson, who had just finished 10 years in the air force, and was at lost ends. Jackson comes home, but is not sure exactly what he wants to do, as he is carrying some issues from his service. However, he is attracted to neighbor Daisy Miller. After returning home after burn out from working in Silicon Valley, Daisy is running the family floral shop. However, in secret, she is also working on another start up project in Silicon Valley with her team, something which could save lives. While attracted to Jackson, she is afraid to get involved with another man after her college sweetheart had died. In the hopes of eventually wearing her down, Jackson agrees to a fake relationship. Sadly, instead of actually communicating and talking about their feelings to avoid misunderstanding, they both misread the other and argue a lot, almost blowing their second chance for happiness. Still it is a very entertaining read and they do get their HEA.
