Physicists are being killed, torn to pieces. Only few know why. The seven, a brotherhood of protectors of the world's are in dire need of one. They need to save one of the brothers without destroying the world. When Promise is the victim of an attempted kidnapping, it was brushed off as a carjacking. Ivar needs Promise to help reduce his brother. She is not aware of what is happening. There is a great chemistry between them. Will Promise find the solution? I can't wait took the next book. Excited to see what happens. I received this book from Net Galley and the publisher for a honest review.

Ivan Kjeidsen make the average person shake in their shoes. He is a vampire-demon hybrid after all. Having seen hell with his own eyes leaves Ivan not quite right. He may be damaged in ways but not broken. Ivan made a promise, that is his driving force. The man is primal and determined. Not to mention sexy and hard headed, like many of the alpha that we love. Ivan sets himself on a mission to save a friend and in turn gets blindsided by something he didn’t see coming.

Promise Williams trusts numbers and science. Facts, that can be explained and seen. It’s a matter of logic. She was raised not to feel only to think. Mathematics is her world. A very lonely kind of world. Promise is beyond smart. Dr. Williams is an extremely talented physicist who just may hold the knowledge to be able to travel to worlds not her own. Promise is a bit quirky and takes some time to get used to, however in the end I truly enjoyed her character. Don’t let the smarts fool you Dr. Williams has some sass and spunk.

Ms. Zanetti rocked it hard with Alpha’s Promise. Excellent world building, great story, intricate plot and deep characters. Promise and Ivan get pushed into each other’s worlds and get more than their asking for. A talent physicist teaming up with a vampire-demon hybrid who on a mission to keep a promise and protect something precious. I very much enjoyed the banter between these two and the way the played to each other strength. They captivated this reader! Now I would like to note that I have not read every book in this series, but I was able to follow along with the overall plot of the series fairly well. I will also say I could tell I was I miss out on something but that didn’t take away from the story of Alpha’s Promise. It just makes me want to go back to the beginning of the series and learn more of this world and the interesting characters within it.

People will think I’m crazy when I say I have not read many books by Ms. Zanetti. Yes, I know. I’m smashing myself on this one. Paranormal is what brought me into the world that is Romance reading. Ms. Zanetti checks off everything I love in a paranormal while delivering a story that keep you going until the end. Alpha’s Promise is a fantastic read that I highly recommended.

Alpha’s Promise is the 10th volume in the Dark Protectors series by Rebecca Zanetti. This series is a real addiction and even if I started it late (an easily) with Vampire’s Faith, 8th volume, now I advise against reading Alpha’s Pormise without reading at least Vampire’s Faith and Demon’s Mercy, and even better the previous ones if you want.
Of course the characters are different in each story and I don’t think new readers would be lost but the whole series common thread begins to take form. I don’t know how many volumes the author has planned, but if we follow her logic, this arc should end in 4 volumes, which matches to the other members of the Seven still single.
The next volume, Hero’s Haven, is planned for January 2020 and I must say I’m quite relieved Rebecca has chosen to feature Quade, even if the one I can’t wait to have the story is Adare.

Alpha’s Promise begins just after Demon’s Mercy. At the end of the volume, we know the Seven are looking for a physicist who’s studying cosmology and supersymmetry. The goal is to save one of them imprisoned in another dimension. At the same time, the Kurjans have the same goal concerning their supreme chief, but as they are really mean, they aren’t satisfied with kidnapping scientists, they get rid of them once they have what they want.
At the beginning of the book our heroine, Promise Williams, begins to wonder after the disappearance and death of two of her colleagues. That’s when she meets our hero, Ivar Kjeidsen, who decides to kidnap her to protect her. But she doesn’t let herself be pushed around and easily succeeds in escaping. When they meet again in more “normal” occasions, it’s really logical she distrusts him. He must work to gain her trust, however he’s still traumatized by what happened to him in the previous volume and his communication level with people surrounding him is very limited.

The attraction is immediate between our heroes. Ivar has been watching Promise for some time and feels very possessive toward her. When Promise meets Ivar, in spite of the situation in which she is, she also feels attracted but seeing their confrontation, she prefers straggling against her feeling.
Our heroine is human with supernatural abilities of which she’s not conscious. She’s also a pure scientist, so when she accepts the fact non-human beings exist, her scientist side quickly overrides everything, which is convenient for everyone as they need her abilities.

The relationship between the heroes is an element I loved. Once the trust established, our heroine doesn’t doubt for a second what the hero tells her even when confronted to a bad guy posing as a good guy who tries to turn her against Ivar. What’s more, she doesn’t hesitate to express her desires and she’s not TSTL at all. She’s also very passionate about her job and her researches, and as soon as a scientific problem arises she doesn’t rest until she solves it. In short, only likeable qualities in a heroine.

Another element I liked, it’s the realistic side of the story. Yes I know paranormal and realism… LOL, but what I mean is the fact the author succeeds in integrating perfectly the supernatural world to the human world; there are lots of interactions between both but the non-human beings’ actions are plausible so they don’t attract attention and humans don’t suspect anything. A very good point for Rebecca Zanetti.

However there’s a drawback in my opinion concerning the four children of which we follow the adventures in parallel in the series. I’m not sure to appreciate Hope’s egoist side, or the fact one of her friends is abused by his father and none of the adults intervene to avoid it. For me, this isn’t really acceptable from our heroes. Let’s hope that changes in the next ones.

That doesn’t prevent me from giving a very good rating to the book and I recommend it absolutely.

Entertaining!

She’s quirky and he’s all alpha and together they make for a great story. Action and drama mixed with humor and sweetness.

I voluntarily read an advanced copy.

3.5 stars Alpha’s Promise is a relatively fast-paced paranormal suspense in this author’s Dark Protector’s world. While each book is about a different character, I would not consider this a standalone seeing as there is a larger, underlying storyline that continues through each book in this series. Iva is a hybrid demon-vampire member of the Seven. I loved him as a character as he is admirably loyal to his brothers, protective of Promise, and is trying hard to reintegrate into society after going through a hell dimension. Promise is a genius scientist and while I liked her curiosity, she is very analytical and socially awkward. All of this author’s heroines tend to be scientific and intelligent, which is something I tend to love in a heroine, but I couldn’t related to Promise at all as she was just too clinical and seeming to lack the ability to truly feel. I didn’t sense much chemistry between her and Ivar.

It was great to see some of my favorite characters from the Seven and there mates and a few from the early books in this series. There are a few chapters from 7 year-old Hope, Janie and Zane’s child, but her story seems to be trending towards a repeat of Janie’s journey. I am hoping that the author takes her down a different path in the future.

I enjoyed learning more about the dimensions with a focus on how to save Quade, but it seems like there was too much astrophysics / cosmology speak. As with the previous books, the author does a magnificent job crafting a unique storyline with great world building. Alpha’s Promise is full of suspense, action, and revelations which is what kept me entertained until the very end. For this reason and because I loved Ivar and the secondary characters, I gave the book a 3.5 star rating instead of a solid 3 stars. While Alpha’s Promise isn’t my favorite book by this author, I am definitely looking forward to the next installment. I received Alpha's Promise for free and I excited to see where this author takes us in the rest of her series.

4.25 Hearts If the question is “Did you like the book?” The answer is “Of course, It was written by Rebecca Zanetti.”

This is the 10th in the series but can be read as a stand alone. But as I always say about Rebecca’s books I have no idea why you wouldn’t want to read every single one of them.

Ivar has been through hell… literally. And it changed him in so many ways. But then he set eyes on Promise. First he is mesmerized by her abilities but then he becomes enchanted by her in every way.

I always love the women in Rebecca’s books. They are strong and independent but are not afraid of love.

I have never found a book of Rebecca’s that I didn’t love.

Dark Protectors #10, I enjoyed this one for the most part. I'm excited for the direction this is going, The Seven working with the Demon Nation and The Realm to stop the big bad from being released and destroying everything they hold dear. I like the side story with little Hope Kylwood and her friends. What I didn't like was the romance, not romance sex, I like Ivar and I like Promise I just didn't like them together or I should say when they got it on. I guess I'm just over the whole dominance thing, ya know been there done that now it just triggers me. But the actual story was great.

Dr. Promise Williams is just the scientist they have been looking for and she's an enhanced. She's someone who can figure out how the transporting works and figure out a way to bring home safely their missing brother. Ivar Kjeidsen demon vampire hybrid survived jumping through countless hell worlds before finally finding his way home and it just made him all the more determined to bring back his brother, Quade, before his world collapses, literally not figuratively, in fact the prison world they trapped their big bad on is colliding with Quade's world. It's crunch time and the Kurjans aren't helping matter because it's their religious figure they are trying to release so they will stop at nothing to prevent the Seven from completing their tasks.

I liked Promise, she's logical and everything is math and very analytical. Half the time I figured she was a high functioning autistic with how she was around other people but with the parents she had it's no wonder she's that way. She was rational and listened when it came to her own protection she is Sooo not the TSTL heroine, that is probably what I liked the most. I'm however getting bored with Grace and Adare's bickering I wish their book was next but no it's not, frustrated sigh. Overall, it was a good read. Not really meant to be a stand alone I would suggest at least starting at Vampire's Faith for this story arc.

The Dark Protectors series just keeps getting better and better! In the latest installment, the crazy, tortured, vampire-demon, Viking, Ivar finally gets his well deserved happily ever after with the delightfully cerebral Dr. Promise Williams. As always, I was engrossed by Ms. Zanetti’s ability to weave an intricate world of vampires, demons, hybrids and more! The Dark Protector series becomes more elaborate with complex worldbuilding and multilayered plots, but the humor, heart, and steam in each book stay the same. That is why she is one of my favorite authors.

Ivar and Promise were difficult characters. Ivar slowly changed throughout the book because he was still healing from the hell dimension. Promise was so smart and detached, especially at the beginning, she gave ice queen vibes, Ms. Zanetti, of course, showed her true heart by the end of the book, but it took a while for me to really invest in her character. While I didn’t relate to them personally, I did empathize with them. Both were a little detached from the “real” world, which made their romance that much more believable. Two outsiders finding each other. In many ways, their completely unique characteristics made their story richer; I loved them despite not relating to them.

The only thing that took me out of the book just a little bit was the science! Don’t get me wrong, I love that Rebecca Zanetti has strong, intelligent heroines in STEM, but I’m not a science person, and I had a hard time not skimming the math and science parts.

While this is probably not the book I would recommend new-to-the-series folks to jump in on, it was a great stepping stone to the next few books. I am basically rubbing my hands together in anticipation of Adare’s story and a few other characters that I won’t mention because ~spoilers~.

Overall, this was a fast-paced, fun, and sexy paranormal romance. Ms. Zanetti never disappoints, and fans of this series will go crazy over the revelations in this book.

It was easy to jump right into the story as this is the 10th novel in the series and the third or fourth in this most recent rehabilitation of the story. I wish I could say it was as easy to like these characters but I found it really hard! Ivar is recovering from being lost jumping from dimension to dimension and surviving some horrible physical injuries as well as being mentally wiped out. His character although alpha, seemed more boorish and I just didn’t find the same heart in his character that I did in the heroes of the earlier novels. Promise, also, had some serious warmth issues. For two such cool customers I found it hard to find emotion in their slam bam thank you ma’am sex life, and even less so in their rather stilted dialog.

I have been a fan of Rebecca Zanetti’s and love the earlier Dark Protectors novels, but once she returned to this series after venturing into other novels, she seems to be having trouble finding that magical ingredient again. I did enjoy her Realm Enforcer’s series, which inhabits this same world, but the last couple of books have been so-so and I’ll admit to disappointment. I might think twice before picking up another one of these novels for fear of finding them lacking again.

❤️❤️❣️

I received a copy of this ARC through NetGalley for my honest review and it was honest.

Overall I like the story, but it isn’t a favorite. Didn’t really connect with the characters like I normally do. If you enjoy the other books in the series then certainly read this one.

I try and get to open one of this author's books every chance I get. This one was a good one that should not be missed. Oh that Viking blood sent it to another level found it interesting. Ivar and Promise are the ones you follow in this one. When she crosses paths with him her world is changed with us being the delighted readers that get to see just how and the outcome. He needs her in more ways than one which keeps us amped also. The drama will also cause your heart to race a time or two. Delighted for sure with this one and sucked it down to the last drop.

This is Book 10 in the Dark Protector’s series. This can be read as a stand-alone book but I highly recommend you reading them all before you read this one just so you will understand everything that is happening. Dr. Promise Williams is a brilliant physicist who doesn’t really understand what’s going on around her. She was raised in a home life that didn’t teach her about emotions so now she’s having to learn about feelings. Ivar has been to hell and back. And he’s going back to rescue his vampire brother. One way or another! There’s a lot going on in this book and you will be on the edge of your seat. I can’t wait to read the next book in the continuing story line. I voluntarily read and reviewed this book that I received from Netgalley

Promise is a physicist and one of the best in her field and because of this she's just been put at the top of a hit list. When scientists start getting murdered, Ivar and his team know they have to protect Promise. But Ivar jumps the gun and scares Promise when all he's trying to do is make sure she's safe.

Ivar is half demon, half vampire...viking and one hundred percent badass. His head might not be screwed on right after being in a hell dimension but he knows that he has to keep Promise safe whether she wants him to or not because she is their key to rescuing their brother from a hell dimension.

The bad guys are after promise which puts them all in danger but Ivar is really good at keeping her safe. Watching these two get to know one another was really fun. It was interesting to see Promise get to know the other members and mates of Ivar's team. They all seem to get along really well and they were really welcoming which is not what I was expecting from vampire, fae, demon type people. There was also a bit of a twist in regards to one of the bad guys but I kinda knew who the idiot was and knew he was going to turn out to be a bad guy. There's an underlying storyline that continues throughout this series and now that I've read this book, I need to know what happens next. I'm well and truly hooked but it was a really good story so I'm sure the next book will be just as good.

If you haven't read the other books in this series, which I haven't, you're going to be a little confused about the other dimensions/worlds that they talk about in this book but I was able to pick up on what was going on pretty fast. I will say all the math talk did get a little boring at times but I understand why it was in this book, I mean Promise is a physicist and extremely smart. She't trying to find a way to save someone on a hell planet using math, so of course math is going to be a big part of this book, doesn't mean it didn't get a little boring to read though. While there is a lot of astrophysics talk going on in this, the author made it easy or at least somewhat easy to understand what they were talking about. I love Rebecca Zanetti's books so I knew I wanted to read this one out of order and just read the other books when I have a chance to.

Disclosure: I was given this book for free via NetGalley but all opinions and thoughts are my own.

This author can do no wrong! I loved the latest in her Dark Protectors series. Ivar and Promise were one of the strongest couples she’s introduced so far and there is still so many others to explore (I’m looking at you Grace & Adare and Haven & Quade!) that I can’t wait for :)

Being an introvert myself, I relate to those same characteristics when it comes to the heroine/hero of a book. Promise is basically the poster girl of nerdy, socially awkward and introverted. Needless to say I loved her.

When Ivar not only accepts her quirky traits but loved them and her unconditionally, well it wasn’t hard to fall insta-love with him either. Granted he’s also a freaking Viking warrior so he has the big protective alpha thing going for him *sigh* and it doesn’t hurt that he is totally on the same wave length with Promise, on every level.

Throw in some action, some danger, off the charts chemistry, humor, romance and a sprinkle of angst and this book was another hit.

Definitely read the books in order as this does have an ongoing plot and recurring characters from previous books making an appearance that can get complicated if you’re not familiar with the basics. I started from Book #8 (this introduces The Seven for the first time) and I was able to jump right in without feeling too out of sorts.

Memorable Moments:
• Ivar giving Promise a nickname! They were both so cute about it, lol!
• Meeting Haven (oh the possibilities!)
• Pretty much any time Adare and Grace were in the same room together! (I need their story ASAP!)

Would I recommend? I love the Seven so I would definitely recommend! If you like Kresley Cole’s IAD series, this has the same feel to it. Great paranormal world with multi dimensions, magic and an intertwining storyline that connects several key players. The author definitely knows how to tease you and leave you wanting more.

I'm obviously in the minority, but I just didn't like this one. I've read a bunch of this series and always enjoyed them, but I couldn't connect to Alpha's Promise. I found it hard to be invested in the romance without loving the H/h, and a lot of the physics became too much.

I can't get enough of these hybrids!! I'm constantly wooed and charmed and swooning with their stories. I was practically salivating for Ivar's story after his arduous trip to see Quade, wanting to know how this sweet soul would end up, and Rebecca Zanetti DID NOT disappoint. Welcome to my harem, big boy!

Ivar is desperate to get back to Quade, to relieve him of his duty - keeping Ulric in. But to get there, he needs the help of a talented physicist to plot his way. That's where Promise comes in. She's at the top of her field and just who they're looking for. Unfortunately, they're not the only ones after her. There's more talk of bubble worlds and the consequences when a bubble pops. What will happen to Quade? And am I the only one shipping him with the new hybrid introduced? With a lot of maneuvering, battle scenes, and a trip into love, this story was as stellar as I wanted it to be.

I loved the way that Ivar and Promise met. It was unique, to say the least. Their relationship was slow building, but once it picked up speed, it was flaming hot. Their connection went beyond the physical and I loved seeing these two intellectuals meet their match. I'm further intrigued by the side stories, especially with what's happening with Hope and Drake, and I wonder when I'll finally see the big picture. Also, I'd really like to adopt Paxton! The finale seems so far away, not that I'm complaining... I'm enjoying the heck out of this journey.

I did enjoy this book, however it was a little harder to connect to the Ivar and Promise. Maybe it was just to much MATH for me. Lol It really begins to dig into how they travel to other dimensions and at times for me that got a little tedious. The story was still a good read. Once Ivar and Promise begin to feel that this mating is more than just a way to help each other it was better. There love in the end is what saved Ivar. And Hope's journey is still in our future. The ending made me anxious for the next book .

Anyone who knows me even a little, knows I'm a crazy Rebecca Zanetti Fan-girl. Dark Protectors is one of my top 5 favorite series ever. So every time I get a DP book I'm in heaven. In the years I have been reading her work, Rebecca has yet to let me down. Alpha's Promise was an awesome read. I loved Ivar and Promise together. I love the world and I really love all the old couples and past favorites popping in and out of the stories. I have mini fan-girl attacks every time. It's like coming home.
Ivar has been through hell... literally. It left him more beast than man. Holding onto his sanity by a thin thread. He made a promise to a brother and he planned on keeping it, even if it killed him. I loved how loyal Ivar was. He had suffered so much. I was glad that he got his HEA. Promise was a super smart physicist that didn't understand emotions. She was raised in a cold, sterile home with two parents that didn't show love or affection. Science, Math, facts, they were her friends and her way of life. Then Ivar crashed into her life filling it emotions, love, and passion. I loved that they both were so different, but went together very well. They also accepted each other fully.
The continuation of the ongoing plot was really good. I found myself freaking out, wondering how they're going to save the world and Quade. I loved the Hope,Pax, and Drake story line and I really felt bad for Pax. Can someone please step in and take him away from his pos dad? Maybe give his dad a little of what he gives to Pax. The parts with Kane, Dage, Emma, Zane, Janie, and the kids omg Sooooooooooo good. I need more of that. A lot more. Like were was Talen???? I love me some Talen and I got none in this book!! None! Just sayin'. Everything is better with Talen. Although Garrett is like a mini Talen. I can't wait for Garrett to get his story. Also, really like what's going on with Adare and Grace, can't wait to see what happens with them. Great story, I'm so excited for the next one!

I again love this book and this series. I love how Ivar falls for such a smart woman. It's really great to see him so impressed and happy to watch her mind work. One bad guy dies in this book but you know there are always more. We see more of Quade in this book though things are not looking good. We meet a new female who has had a rough life. This series just sucks me into the book that I don't want to put the book down. I can't wait for the next one.
