This book comes out of a deep personal relationship with the Holy Spirit, one called upon during a time of intense grief. The author wants to share her experiences with the Holy Spirit and to educate her readers about His love, presence, power and purpose in their lives. However, she obviously hopes that this will go beyond head knowledge to the readers allowing the transformative power of the Holy Spirit to work in their lives.
The Holy Spirit is often the person of the Trinity that is least acknowledged, understood, and cherished. Our nation, and the world, needs an awakening and for this we must access the power of the Holy Spirit, allowing Him to work within and among us. I thank Anne Graham Lotz for helping her readers to know Him better, and am grateful to have received a copy of Jesus in Me from Multnomah in exchange for my honest opinion. It is a privilege to recommend this book. I was under no obligation to provide a positive review and received no monetary compensation. #PRHpartner
I requested and received an advanced copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
I really couldn’t get into this book and it took me forever to sit down and read it. I am a Christian and I believe in everything that this book was about, but I had trouble following along with the information and I found myself losing interest.
I enjoyed reading parts about Ms Lotz private life, but when the writing went back to biblical quotes and theological questioning, I lost interest.
Anne Graham Lotz writes in such a personable manner that reading this book seems as if you are sitting in a small group while she shares stories about her life and also explains about the ministry of the Holy Spirit in the life of a Christian. I love how she presents the Bible passages about the Holy Spirit in an understandable way. There’s much to absorb as you read through the twenty seven chapters in this book. Every chapter is both challenging and encouraging, but my favorite section was on “Loving the Person of the Holy Spirit” and the names that indicate His role in our lives. This would be a good book for a book study group or Sunday School class.
I received a copy of this book from the publisher. All opinions are my own.
Jesus in Me: Experiencing the Holy Spirit as a Constant Companion by Anne Graham Lotz is an insightful, inspirational and educational Book. A Christian Pneumatology. Ms. Lotz uses her personal experiences and her biblical knowledge to help the reader understand the....Holy Spirit, is real, not mystical, magic, he prays with us, he guides us, and comforts us, he is with us all the time.
A must read for readers who are searching for the meaning of the Holy Spirit, he is a devine necessity.
I found myself intrigued and enjoyed to be able to read JESUS IN ME. It is truly a spiritual and empowering book that I feel we all could use in our lives to have a closer walk with our Savior. I so enjoyed and look forward to using the knowledge I find with my walk with my Savior. Thank you, Ms. Lotz!! #NetGalley, #JesusinMe

I'm amazed at how awesome this book is. I'm only halfway through it right now, but I had to tale a minute to share what I think.
I can relate to Anne on a personal level from some of her stories, and I am inspired by many others. We seem to have a lot more in common than I ever would have dreamed possible, based on appearances.
Honestly, without conscious thought, I have spent most of my life behaving like I believe that some Christians are 'elite' because of their position or family.
This book levels that playing field!
Realizing that we serve the same God who is more than able to take my clumsy willingness and use it for His glory... Well, I've had that head knowledge for decades, but I think it's becoming heart knowledge finally. Not just that He can, but that He will, He is.
So far I have laughed, stared in amazement, cried, and understood a few things on a whole new level. And we're just getting to the 'good part' of the book.
Hopefully I will be updating this soon with the second half!

This book is one of my favorites by Anne Graham Lotz. I read a chapter each morning with my bible study. I love how I feel so much closer to God after reading. Anne does a great job of telling about the Holy Spirit. Lotz takes from the scriptures and explains it so the reader has a easier way of understanding. I enjoyed all the personal stories that Anne shares with the reader to help with the teaching being relatable. I was so touched by the story she shared about her father Billy graham’s funeral and all the love that was poured out by people. This book just really touched my heart and filled me with so much longing to draw closer to our Savior. I think this is an excellent book to share with my small group. I am definitely going to suggest this book to anyone I know!
Review of Jesus in Me: Experiencing the Holy Spirit as a Constant Companion, by Anne Graham Lotz
Anne Graham Lotz is very open and vulnerable in her book, Jesus in Me. The title comes from the simplified way she describes the Holy Spirit. She says the Holy Spirit is God, the same as Jesus without skin, living inside of me.
In her many personal illustrations, Anne is candid and vulnerable, writing about the Holy Spirit’s work in her life during some of the most traumatic and emotionally disruptive changes she has recently experienced.
Anne blamed herself for not going out to the pool sooner to check on her husband, who she found drowned. But the Holy Spirit helped her work through the false guilt. She misses her husband of 49 years, but realizes God is bringing her into a new season of relying on Him.
Anne felt like not only a widow after her husband’s death, but when her father, famous evangelist Billy Graham, died, she also felt like an orphan because her mother had passed away by then too. Anne says the Holy Spirit helps us cope with our loneliness.
Almost a year ago Anne announced she had been diagnosed with breast cancer. She has needed to rely on her “Constant Companion” even more during this time of treatment. She has solicited prayers from Christians world-wide, and she anticipates a good outcome. She wants others who are going through similar trying circumstances to know that “Jesus living on the inside” will be there for them too.
Jesus in Me is a good resource for those wanting to learn more about the Holy Spirit, and especially for those who may be experiencing trials like Anne and want the closeness of God living inside them.
When Lotz's husband died a few years ago, she found great comfort and strength from God through the Holy Spirit. She shares her spiritual experiences and adds stories from others and from the Bible. While there is some exploration of the character and work of the Holy Spirit, most of the book is a memoir of her path of learning to enjoy and trust the Spirit more and more.
Lotz's writing style is a pleasure to experience. She is open and honest about her experiences, sharing the good times and the troubling ones. Rarely will one admit the times when she thought she heard the Spirit but things did not turn out as expected. Most of her book, however, is about her knowing the Spirit as Comforter, Advocate, Intercessor, and Counselor.
Lotz includes a good bit of teaching too. She writes about how God strengthens us through hardship and how the Spirit convicts us of sin and disciples us. She also reviews the many roles the Holy Spirit has in our transformation to become more like Christ. “He is a divine necessity,” she writes. (3)
My favorite part of the book was the section on purpose, a great challenge. If we see our purpose as being physically fit or traveling or being a career success, what happens when we are diagnosed with a debilitating disease? If we make our life's purpose to glorify God, we can carry it out no matter our circumstances. (121)
Lotz has included good teaching in several appendixes. She helps us learn how to hear the Spirit by reviewing her Bible reading process. She also has good teaching on being filled with the Spirit and staying filled, a self-examination of sin, and the various gifts of the Spirit.
This is a good book for any Christian but particularly for those who have recently experienced the loss of a spouse or another loved one. Lotz wrote the book in the context of the loss of her husband and it is good encouragement that believers are never alone. The Holy Spirit is always our constant companion.
I received a complimentary ARC of this book from the publisher. My comments are an independent and honest review.
Jesus In Me
Experiencing the Holy Spirit as a Constant Companion
By Anne Graham Lotz
Jesus In Me delivers within the very first chapter who the Constant Companion was and is. She begins by giving us insight into his character. One of which I had never heard of before.
Beautifully, Anne weaves these truths about the Holy Spirit into the deep places of her own life experiences. Grieving the loss of her parents, husband, as well as her journey with cancer. She shares who the Holy Spirit is in every step of life’s journey. I don’t know anyone who as not been touched by being shattered by a death, disease, divorce, disappointment or other disaster. Having faced some of these heartaches, I could sense that the simple way these truths were being shared, began to fill my mind, heart and soul. On a daily bases I am seeing the Holy Spirit as I have never seen or understood before!
Jesus In Me as my Constant Companion I can have Joy in the midst of any struggle.
Highly recommended if you also are seeking Joy in the midst of your own life challenges.
Anne’s first chapters about the person of the Holy Spirit are very encouraging and challenged me to be more mindful of the day to day life stressors where I could be relying more on the Holy Spirit. She uses many personal experiences to show you examples of how the Holy Spirit shows up. The rest of the book is also filled with good information and points to ponder. It further encourages you to allow the Holy Spirit to mold you into pointing others toward Gods holiness.
I do, however, have some reservations in recommending this book to non-believers and new Christians. While Anne is inspirational in the strength of her faith, the description of the human condition is written in harsh manners. Jesus first and foremost showed others compassion, love, and understanding to others, irregardless of their choices. There are portions of this book that could have benefited from focusing through that lens (specifically in regard to sin). While I don’t think sharing judgement was her intent, some wording comes across rather harshly.
Reviewed on Goodreads and Christian book
One book I’ll keep going back to! She writes with beauty and clarity. Her knowledge of The Bible and Jesus are phenomenal!
I thought I understood the Holy Spirit until I read Anne's book. I learned so much about all the attributes of the Holy Spirit in our life. It helped me learn in a deeper way the importance of allowing the Holy Spirit have access to all areas of our life. I would read a chapter and then spend time considering what it meant to me. I will definitely be reading it again to gain even more understanding. I definitely recommend this book.
Review Title: Holy Spirit Realized (Review of Jesus In Me by Anne Graham Lotz)
Reviewer: Janice S. Garey
***** 5 Stars
If you have ever felt a tad bit deprived of knowing what you have felt in your heart you should know about the One who indwells your heart as a Christian believer, this book is for you. It consolidates the teachings about the Holy Spirit found in the Bible. Jesus In Me is an encouragement to souls who have yearned to know more of and to trust wholeheartedly in the unseen person and power of the Holy Spirit.
Anne Graham Lotz opens the door to welcome the reader into her life with transparency. She tells of how she, the daughter of our nation's top evangelical preacher, did not receive much instruction about the Holy Spirit. This background resonated on a personal level.
Every aspect of the Holy Spirit presented in Jesus In Me is backed up by Scripture. For that reason, this book deserves a place on the reader's reference shelf. It can be used as an easy to understand reference to help in discussions with those questioning the function of the Holy Spirit.
Anne Graham Lotz, an exceptional communicator of all things concerning Jesus and the Christian faith, may have at times seemed sheltered from the common experiences of everyday Christians. The personal stories Anne shares shows she has gone through a multitude of struggles, trials, and temptations that Christians are given to work through with faith and perseverance based on abiding with Jesus. The Holy Spirit comforts, advocates, and helps as needs arise for those who put their faith in Jesus.
Jesus In Me combines the truth of Scripture with the living out of that truth shown through the personal stories portraying spiritual growth which displays as Christians go through difficulties in the strength of Jesus. Anne is transparent about her failings, convictions, and obedience. At the back of the book, she includes a listing of personal sins that may need to be confessed and repented of. She found the list helpful for her own use, and she shares it in the Appendix for those who might want to utilize it in their private quiet time. It can be rewarding to go through the list three times to be sure all sin is acknowleged and confessed to God. Anne did that and found unexpected renewal and refreshment. The exercise brought cleansing to Anne and she shares the joy known of feeling totally right with God.
For the Christian, Jesus In Me is a delight to read. It will be most appreciated by those seeking a richer and fuller experience of their faith. Salvation or transformation may be the utmost benefit or reward from reading Anne Graham Lotz's book. Eternal blessings await those who take to heart its contents.
I received an Advance Reader's Copy of the book as part of being on the launch team. I was asked to read and review the book honestly. I was under no obligation to give a favorable review. I have read and given my honest opinion in this review.
Jesus in Me, by Anne Graham Lotz, is a wonderful book about who the Holy Spirit is and how he fits into our day-to-day lives. For me, and I am sure others, the Holy Spirit has always been a bit of a mystery, taking a backseat to the Father and the Son in the Holy Trinity. Within the 304 pages and 27 chapters, Anne explains the Holy Spirit perfectly and gives examples of how the he has worked throughout her life during her most trying times.
While I did enjoy reading about Anne’s journey and how the Holy Spirit accompanied her throughout her journey, the book was a bit different then what I was expecting. I was expecting more of a how-to understanding of the Holy Spirit and how he moves in each of our lives, instead I thought it read more like a memoir about the author’s experiences with the Holy Spirit. Having said that, I still enjoyed the book.
This was my first book from Anne Graham Lotz, even though I have followed her for a while being Billy Graham’s daughter. I am also blessed to have been taught Sunday school by one of Billy Graham’s granddaughters. I really enjoyed her writing style, and her ability to make difficult information about the Holy Spirit easy to understand.
Overall, I very much enjoyed Jesus in Me. I think it is a great read for both new and seasoned Believers and those who want a better understanding of the Holy Spirit.
Prior to reading Jesus in Me: Experiencing the Holy Spirit as a Constant Companion, my understanding of the Holy Spirit and His part in the triune God was sorely lacking. This book really filled in all the gaps. Finally, I get it!!
Ms. Lotz writes in a warm conversational tone. Her ability to make the information she is imparting easy to understand makes this book a good choice for anyone, regardless of where they are in their faith journey. The book offers information about the Holy Spirit in the Old Testament, in the New Testament and beyond, explanations of Biblical history and the customs at the time, and challenges to the reader. I learned alot, and it gave me alot to think about as well.
Many thanks to NetGalley and WaterBrook and Multnoman for allowing me to read a copy of the book in exchange for an unbiased review. All opinions expressed are my own.
Easy to read written in personable manner. This book will be truly helpful to Christians no matter what they are going through in life. God has given us his Holy Spirit to be our comforter and our guide.
Anne Graham Lotz writes these words at the end of the book"The choices you and I make today will determine how our lives are viewed when we meet Jesus face to face. Please. Embrace fully the Holy Spirit’s gifting, then exercise your gifts in service to Him so that on that day you will not be empty handed but will have something to lay at the feet of Jesus in return for all He has given you." And I knew exactly what Anne was talking about, because I now have a better understanding of the One who lives in me. We spend so little time on getting to know this very important person of God. Yet, He is so important in our relationship with our Savior and God. And if you look at just the table of content, you see how involved He is in our lives. Anne's detail in every chapter provides us the way to doing just that all the way to the end of the book. You will not be disappointed.
I was pleasantly surprised by this book. I love learning more about the Holy Spirit and how he relates to my life and the world. For me I am eager to learn more about the Bible and this book helped me in many ways.
Recommend this book by Anne Graham Lotz "Jesus In Me, Experiencing the Holy Spirit as a Constant Companion." This book has seven major parts on the Holy Spirit that most Believers havent embraced in their redeemed lives. They havent gone deeper to really know about the Holy Spirit. Well, Anne has been given a God-given presentation to open our eyes wider and experience Him more. This book will be one that is read and reread. I give it 5 stars. I have not been compenstated for my honest review.
As usual, Anne Graham Lotz has another powerful book. JESUS IN ME is wonderful due to Anne has drawn from her own experiences. She has shown us how Jesus is with us everywhere we go and how He comforts us in our daily life. With Anne’s personal stories, they bring tears to us because so many have walked in her shoes. Our Lord never promised us a walk in the park. What we learn is if we lean on Him, we are never alone and He guides each of our steps. Jesus delights is giving us comfort.
