First book by this author and I enjoyed it! Kept my attention and no specific constructive feedback to give.
This book was a sizzling, enthralling, and had the perfect amount of feelings to make it stay in mind for a long time. A great read!
Truth We Bear is the second book in the Pieces of me series by Danielle Rose. The story is great. I really liked it.
Truth We Bear: A Pieces of Me Novel as a great read by Danielle Rose. James agrees to work as Jezebel's bodyguard and would give everything up in order to keep her safe. He never expected to give Jezebel his heart but unfortunately his secrets are threatening to unravel everything they have worked for. I enjoyed reading James and Jezebel's story and can't wait to read more by Danielle Rose.
James Blakeley is a man that has spent his adult life protecting the lives of others. He served in the military and now works as a body guard. Jezebel Tate is the woman that James has sworn to protect. Working on their relationship after Jezebel’s near death experience, James finds that his past has come back to haunt him. He must decide whether to trust Jezeebel with the truth of his past or continue to keep it hidden. He also hopes she understands the lies and secrets he has kept from her. When faced with tough decisions we see that James relies on love over hate.
The Truth We Bear is a story of resilience and hope.
Loved the story & finding more out about James & Jezebel. There was more suspense & mystery to this story. Great read!
In this book you get James' background and what happened to his family. He is still with Jezebel and her bodyguard. His past is affecting their relationship. James fears Jezebel may go too far and end up dead or in serious trouble helping him deal with his past. This story had more mystery and twists than the first one. An enjoyable read and not meant to standalone.
I received a copy of this book via Netgalley and am leaving a review.
Good book. Great author. Enjoyed her writing. Funny, sexy . Another author to add to my shelves!!!!!!
The second volume in Danielle Rose's new series that will eventually release into one book.
We move forward in the relationship with Jezebel and James. If you haven't read volume one you will need to in order to understand what troubles them.
Secrets are revealed and the truth is closer to being disclosed. Can their relationship survive?
While I prefer to read a story in one piece the pacing of this series is fast and will keep you engaged.
The quick yet highly entertaining conclusion of this action packed romantic adventure. This journey is filled with danger, dark secrets, intriguing charterers and thrilling passion..... was a exciting journey from beginning to end. Excellent reading experience.
I Love this book I am glad I had the opportunity to read this
Love the connection between Jezebel and Blakley
Love the happy ending
3 1/2 Stars
This is the continuation of Lies We Keep and now that Jezebel has faced her demons, it’s time for James to face his. When James’ past comes into his present, will change his future for the good or the bad?
This book is told from James’ POV and the intimate scenes were (once again) very hot. But I just don’t get why James was scared to tell Jezebel about his past ... he was a child and didn’t do anything wrong. I was just expecting, that with all the build up, there was gonna be “more” to his past.
I received an early copy courtesy of Waterhouse Press through NetGalley in exchange for a honest review.
Truth We Bear is the second book in the Pieces of Me Series ad is told from James' perspectve and is told alternating between the past and the present, offering glimpses of his past with his family in the rligious community he was born and his present with Jezebel.
This book brings some of his past issues to light adding more drama for him and Jezebel to endure and work through. This book was engaging and ended in a HEA. It was a fairly quick read.
Truth We Bear is the second book in the Pieces of Me duet. It was a fascinating contemporary romance. It was thrilling, steamy, and mysterious. I loved book 1 and I loved that this book was in the POV of James. It was a beautiful redemption story for James and Danielle Rose gave me everything I wanted in the conclusion to this duet.
This is a duet and is not a standalone.
When we begin this book, we get a peek at James and Jezebel's life. She is still working through her issues/past with the help of a therapist and of course her empathetic support system, James. I really loved getting to know James from his perspective. I knew that he had a mysterious past so when I began to catch a glimpse of it, it took my breath away. This man was so strong not only in his life but strong for the love of his life. He went through so much at such a young age and found a way to push past his demons and somehow find a way to move forward.
What I learned quickly is that James never fully moved on from his past list. He simply moved forward finding a way to get by without thinking of his past. This book was so healing and necessary for him in this book. For so long, he wanted to forget his life because maybe if he chose to ignore it, his past wouldn't come back to haunt him.
His past did come back in the form of his former fiance, Abigail. She brings along so much history and pain. In the beginning, I found myself annoyed with the character Abigail. I felt like she was going to ruin Jezebel and James' relationship. By the end of the book, I had so much compassion for her. This woman had lived a life that she believed was the right life in the eyes of not only her father but in the eyes of "God". People were able to use her faith and belief and prey on her without her knowledge.
There were so many great aspects of this story that made it so gratifying to read. The title is so fitting for James and his story. To overcome his past he truly had to be honest with himself and Jezebel to not only get the closure he wanted but get the closure he deserved.
I give Truth We Bear 5 stars. It was a riveting story about love, lies, and letting go that will have fans of the Pieces of Me duet feeling satisfied with this conclusion of the story. I highly recommend this book and book 1 to readers fo romance and suspense.
I did not read the previous book in the series so I was lost, And this is not good as a standalone. Giving bad reviews is something I try to avoid.
The Truth We Bear is the conclusion of the two books by Danielle Rose and it is a thing of Shear Beauty - not knowing what is going to happen and the healing love of James Blakely and Jezebel Tate is awe inspiring. This is an incredible book and Duo to read.
I immediately dove into this one as soon as I finished Lies We Keep, since it's a duet, you must read that one first. I enjoyed learning more about James' past in this one and what really happened to his parents. A cleverly written tale, with enough suspense to keep you breathless til the end. Really enjoyed this duet from a new-to-me author!
James thought of the past when he was growing up and belonged to the Living Light. There had been a list of rules: I shall always obey my elders, What I do, I do for God, and I will forsake all others outside of the Living LIght. James had been born there, but not his parents. They had grown tired of the corporate world , bought this land and started creating a self-sufficient community. Soon after their friends who desired to leave the modern world behind joined them but only the most deserved. Everything came after the new pastor came. Then there was no outside world contact. It had taken countless sleepless nights appointments with a c therapist and more than a year but Jezebel was becoming her former self. The quick witted smart talking woman he had fallen in love with while being her bodyguard despite his effort not to. He had been hired to protect her from a stalker- Brent Miller Brent had still got Jezebel in his clutches when he abducted her. But Brent had met his fate. Before Brent had nearly raped Jezebel. Before Brent wormed his way into her soul, deeply , forever changing her. For months after she returned to James, she slept in the bedroom closet. She feared being alone with anyone while she slept. Slowly she left the closet and returned to her bed. Eventually Once again she pulled james to sleep with hre. They had sex once since her abduction. She used to be a take the reins type of woman , but she offered him the reins and he slowly made love to her. Janes kissed the scars Brent had left but that was weeks ago. James was determined not to let his past come back to bite him in the butt. Everything he’s built for himself since leaving the Living Light. Tara was jezebel’s best friend and agent. It was on the news about two bodies being found and James thought they were his parents bodies. Jezebel had been watching the news about the bodies and she said there had apparently been a community. Locals didn’t even know about and their calling it a cult. The world was close to discovering James’s past. Abigail wrote near daily posts about her father’s involvement in his family’s death. He saw the picture of the knowing smile meant for him. Abigail and her father had showed up seeking refuge and were welcomed to the community. But the people as well as james hadn’t seen what he knew now. One of the first skills James homed while in the years of Special Ops in the Marine corp was how to spot evil. James thought how it took a spectacularly psychotic person to condone the actions of the man who murdered an entire group of people. It seemed james was the only one to view this horrific site, with the bodies piling up , there’s no way the site wouldn’t make waves. Eventually the world would discover it. Jezebel would learn his truth and leave him forever. James called R and asked him to Reynolds - one of his close friends from the Marines. He asked Reynolds to track Abigail and reynolds said give him an hour. James thought about when he went to the pastor’s house and met his daughter Abigail. His skin crawled when he was around the pastor but he hadn’t understood why. James hadn’t seen his unit in a year but they shared emails and text messages often but it wasn’t the same. Jezebel had several scars from her attack. Her brain had taken the worst of it and she had been in a coma for awhile. Reynolds had shown up at the hospital in Maine all the way from North Carolina. He had come to kill Miller. Reynolds hadn’t known jezebel had already done that in an attempt to save James’s life. Jezebel said she had been getting hang calls for awhile she had even heard the person breathing on the other end. He hadn’t told Jezebel about Abigail’s stalking ways. She was calling from phones with blocked numbers.
I really enjoyed this book. It was a great drama filled read with action thrown in also and just enough. I loved jezebel and james and how they interacted with each other. I really hated that the pastor came into James’s parents community and ruined it. I also hated what he did to the community’s people and children. It was horrendous but reminded me of Jim Jones in a lot of ways. I loved how strong james and jezebel’s love was and he was her rock and she saved James from killing when he didn’t have to. This had my attention from the beginning until the end. I didn't want to put this book down. I loved the ending alos. I loved the pace and plot of this book. I felt bad how Abi’s father had ruined her and helped her to lose her mind. I loved the characters and the ins and outs of this book and I highly recommend it.
Now we're talkin! I almost feel like book one was just a warm up for this. Truth we bear had much more conflict and look over your shoulder moments. Plus James' past is so messed up, and the revealing of it so interesting. There's a twist and a moment where it all comes to a head.
Honestly I thought book one was okay, but I loved this. I loved the feel of this whole story, and now that the foundation for Jezebel and James's relationship has been laid, I see it more. This was a story I didn't want to put down!
I hate to give poor reviews, but this book just wasn't my cup of tea -- I really disliked the first book and couldn't get through it and was hoping that reading James' POV would have been more enjoyable, but not so much.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
