Mama Bear Apologetics is an incredibly thought-provoking and challenging read! I recommend it to everyone I know - not just for moms, too. I've read it twice and will definitely keep coming back to it over the years. Having gone to a Christian university, I studied apologetics, bible history/survey, creation studies, youth studies, and more alongside early childhood classes which are all rooted in faith. I adored the curriculum that tied everything back to Jesus and am thankful to have that foundation to deepen my faith, know the reason for my faith, the history of the church, and to defend the truth of Christ, and to be equipped to teach this to my children. Reading Mama Bear Apologetics was like I was back in my apologetics courses, but with friends who come alongside to teach it at an easier to digest level, not as academic. It didn't feel like I was reading a textbook but instead a friend's journal, no-nonsense overview of apologetics which strengthens our own faith and in turn our mothering, alongside that of our children's budding and growing faith. It is so important for us as parents to teach our children of Christ through everything we do, and Mama Bear Apologetics breaks it down in a way that we can easily translate to our daily lives and share with our children. Especially when they are old enough to be in youth group and leave the home, we must share a solid foundation, teach them the why, what, who - all of it, and trust God with their own life and faith as the days go on. Mama Bear Apologetics is a wonderful place to start in teaching bible to your kids in a deeper way, and can lead to stronger family relationships, stronger faith, and more. Highly recommend this book and will be coming back to it again and again over time, suggesting it to everyone I know! Great introduction to apologetics for moms who want to know more and how to teach this to ourselves and our kids... and really, for anyone! All Christians need apologetics!

Mama Bear Apologetics by Hillary Morgan Ferrer is a book all parents need to read. In today's world, so many children are not following God into adulthood. In this book, Ms Ferrer shows the need to teach children the reasons for their faith and to live it out in the a way they understand. I received a digital copy of this book from the publisher with no obligations. These opinions are entirely my own.

This was a good read - especially for anyone who may be unfamiliar with apologetics and various philosophies. I felt that the ROAR acronym they used at the end of each chapter to simply summarize a viewpoint and how to defend it was very helpful.
My only hesitancies were that I did feel some of their summaries of certain viewpoints were not entirely accurate - especially when it comes to social justice. I felt it was unnecessarily harsh at times. Overall though, it was a good read.

We are never too good, too equipped for the challenges that will come. This book is a great tool and wake up call. Just because we think that we stand on a solid ground that doesn’t mean that our children will inherit it. We need to teach our kids the truth and help them defend their belief. This book is a great starting point, it helps you get an idea about todays battles and the struggles that kids face today.
You won’t get all the answers, but you will be intrigued to find them.

This was my first experience with Mama Bear Apologetics and I can say is, “Wow, these ladies get it!” I was very thankful to have someone diagnose the ills of our culture and suggest remedies that just might make sense. As a mom, I feel better equipped to handle some of the questions my kids might have about the influences they are going to encounter in this world. I also know better what to look for in order to address it. Just having a name for some of those lingering messages that just don’t “feel right” was worth it to me. I highly recommend this book.

Ferrer gives a thoughtful and important look at the need for aplogetics in our youth. The alarming statistics of capturing the hearts and minds at this age is so important. Much like the verse, "train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it." -proverbs 22:6. She gives great wisdom in how to accomplish it and why.

If you're a Christian parent, you want to raise your children to know and love the Lord, but there is no one sure-fired 100% way to parent that brings kids to Jesus. But we can make sure to point the way to a faith built on the solid foundation of truth. And Mama Bear Apologetics gives us the tools to build that foundation.

One of my favorite quotes from the book is, "Blind faith is easy to lose. Faith grounded in evidence is harder to walk away from." - Hillary Morgan Ferrer. So how do we give our kids that kind of foundation? You could spend years studying apologetics or you can start with this book.

Mama Bear Apologetics is like a cheat sheet for all the important concepts we need to know as parents to teach our children why we believe that Christianity is more than a good idea, it's the truth. Each of the authors writes with authority, but in a conversational tone that makes you feel like you could be sitting around the playground chatting.

Each chapter walks you through the way the world twists the truth or subverts Gods' word and offers real ways to clarify our thinking and think critically about the issues. And this book is written by busy moms for busy moms! Mama Bear Apologetics gets to the heart of each issue quickly and gives you easy answers to deal with each type of objection. I really appreciate the end of each chapter walks you through a concrete way to handle each subject. I love learning, but if I don't have a concrete take-away, sometimes what I've read doesn't stick. MBA makes sure you know how to use each concept to solidify not only the faith of your children, but your own, and give you the confidence to share your faith with the people you encounter in your daily life.

Every chapter is so good, you won't want to put it down. But I really appreciated the chapter on Linguistic Theft. I know that words are being misappropriated, but since reading that chapter, I've started seeing just how many words aren't being used authentically and how that shapes our thought processes.

The chapters on naturalism, truth, evidence, and relativism are really excellent. I love how the authors take concepts that we've heard so often, we've internalized them without realizing it and show us how flawed they are. Kids are walking away from faith in larger numbers than ever because they don't know how faulty these 'great sound bite' ideas really are. But MBA exposes the flaws in their logic.

While MBA covers just about every main objection to Christianity and explains many contradictory worldviews, we can teach our kids HOW to think critically using the skills outlined in this book even when confronted with an argument that wasn't specifically covered because they covered how to discern the message and measure it against truth and logic. We don't have to leave our brains at the door to be Christians. In fact, we need to use them now more than ever.

One chapter that was particularly important as the mother of a young girl is the one on toxic feminism. I want my daughter to see herself correctly as an image bearer of God created in His likeness, loved and cherished deeply. But I don't want her to fall victim to the viciousness passing as the "pro-women movement". MBA helps us see the beauty in being women without feeling like we have to go to war against men. The book dispels the clear contradictory messages in third wave feminism that are actually damaging to women and families. And challenges us as a body of Christ to do better in how we protect women.

MBA ends with a chapter full of ways to use all this information to make a difference for the next generation.

I really can't recommend this book enough. The wisdom and knowledge of the various authors is astounding. The years of their experience and educational background is a treasure trove that we get to ravage to contend for the faith of our children. Every Christian should read this book, but especially parents ready to Roar like a Mama Bear for the faith of their children.

I hope the title doesn't turn away men or non-parents from a great introduction to apologetics and media analysis and practical tips for applying that information in discussions with children.

Thank you to Harvest House Publishers and NetGalley for providing me with an advanced copy of this book. I'm so glad I had the chance to read Mama Bear Apologetics. Not only every Christian mom but every Christian PARENT should read a book! Culture clashing with religion is nothing new but we do seem to be losing more and more children to secular worldview (as opposed to previous generations.) This book equips mothers to combat cultural norms and teachings; embrace your inner 'mama bear'. Be prepared to close this book feeling challenged yet empowered to fight for the souls of your children!

I'd call Mama Bear Apologetics an Apologetics book for Mums or Mamas (I'm in Scotland and use Mum rather than Mama - a minor transatlantic variation!) who realise the false and dangerous views their kids are exposed to in their educational lives and want/need to be able to analyse and expose flawed thinking and help their kids develop a mindset that will root out the flawed logic and reinforce the healthy logic in the Bible.

The book is written by women Apologists and gives the impression (to me anyway) of being mainly for a female audience, I think any parental figure will benefit from this (I'm a man and have benefited greatly). It's also great to see, in an Apologetics field which is often seen as being male dominated, female Apologists producing heavyweight yet highly readable material. It's actually a breath of fresh air and I speak as a man. Hillary Morgan Ferrer's name is on the cover as General Editor and there are contributions from others including Rebekah Valerius, Hillary Short, Teasi Cannon, Cathryn Buse, Alisa Childers and Julie Loos.

The only slight issue I have with this book is that there are some turns of phrase which I assume are 'Americanisms' which can be a little irritating to the non American ear but then the book is written from within an American cultural setting so not really surprising. It's easy enough to look past this. All in all an excellent contribution to the Apologetics books available today. The style is a cross between an informal lecture room setting and a relaxed coffee morning and while it certainly has academic elements you won't feel bogged down in heavy duty academic quicksand! There are helpful notes at the end of the book for each chapter so you can continue further reading yourself and the Mama Bear Apologetics website has a host of further resources. I find one of the big problems in counteracting modern day heresy in education is that many parental figures simply don't have the knowledge or confidence to help their kids. This book goes a long way to addressing this. Recommended.

Thanks to Harvest House Publishers and NetGalley for ARC.

I had never heard of Mama Bear Apologetics before coming across this book, and I’m so glad I found it! This book is amazing. Every single Christian mom, every Christian parent even, should read this book! I grew up in the church, but I was never taught apologetics or how to defend my faith. In today’s world, this information is priceless. I loved the questions at the end of the chapters, it makes this book perfect for small groups. I plan on recommending it for my small group when it comes out. I will tell every mom I know about this book! Thank you for the advanced copy.

What is a Mama Bear? The author defines one like this: ”A Mama Bear is not necessarily a mom. Is any women who recognizes that the children in body of Christ need guidance, role models, and solid answers to the tough questions about faith.” So, any woman that wants to do that is a Mama Bear.

In a world full of ideas, we have to teach children how to discern between truth and lies. Reading this book you can find out how you can train yourself and your ”cubs” to focus on Christ and His truths. Here you can find tools, methods, suggestions that can be used in order to prepare children to think critical when they listen music, when they see a movie, when they read a book. Only telling them that some music is not good, that some books are bad, does not give them a tool to decide for themselves when they grow what is good and what is bad. When they are able to think critical for themselves, we did a good job.

ROAR is a easy method explained in the book that helps Mama Bear to teach their cubs how to critically analyze the ideas, beliefs or truth claims they can hear around them. This method is applied in all the chapters that present the cultural lies a child could face. After reading it and seeing it explained for 11 times, you will be able to try it by yourself.

I am very glad the NetGalley gave me the opportunity to read such a well documented book, that provides so many suggestions, methods and tools to become a very equipped Mama Bear. After reading this book, you will search for other sources that will help you to become a good Christian Apologist. You can start with this one: https://mamabearapologetics.com/ .

I am looking forward to reading this book in Romanian again and to recommend it to all my friends that are teachers or Christian moms.

Thank you Netgalley and Harvest House Publishers for an advanced copy of this book in exchange for my honest review!

Mama Bear Apologetics: Empowering Your Kids to Challenge Cultural Lies, provides an excellent primer for us to train our kids to know what is truth, according to what the Bible teaches, and reject and refute the lies that the world is telling. In this book, the authors address the prevailing ideas and worldviews of our culture, where they come from, and how we moms can ROAR against them.

Be prepared to come away feeling challenged to fight for the souls of our children. And remember that God is fighting with us. Rise up Mama Bears!

(If you are unfamiliar with the Mama Bear Apologetics organization, their Facebook page states, “Mama Bear Apologetics is for mothers of biological, adopted or spiritual children who want to learn about how to defend not only the basic Christian beliefs, but understand the worldviews that challenge Christian belief in the first place.” You can find their website at www.mamabearapologetics.com.)

This book wasn’t exactly what I expected. I think I was geared up for an easier read and didn’t expect to go so deeply into apologetics. In saying that, however, I thoroughly enjoyed everything I learned. It was so enlightening, educational and the practical ways mentioned to help our children deal with all of the “isms” of our culture made it so applicable to where I am as a mom raising my children.

In today’s world, Christian parents have to be diligent in teaching the next generation how to fight for the faith. We need to know why we believe what we believe and be swift against errors. This mom-written book breaks down cultural acceptances and how the hidden lies in them can affect our understanding of biblical truth. We need to know how to take on these issues with critical thinking and “Mama Bear Apologetics” edited by Hillary Morgan Ferrer is just that. She offers biblical strategies and discussions throughout the book with memory hacks like PAWS for prayer and the chew and spit method, that will help you and your child learn easily with fun ways to retain the information.

This book is much needed for the electronic world we live in today. Our children are being exposed to things at a younger age and dealing with serious topics earlier than ever before because of social media and television. They need a strong foundation in their comprehension of the Bible and be equipped to battle topics they’re exposed to. I would definitely recommend this book to Christian moms with children of all ages. Her strategies in each chapter help to train parents and children alike to be exercised biblical thinkers living in the age of information promoting spiritual growth that is able to stand firm in the faith with wisdom and humility.

In a world where anything goes and convictions run along the lines of "what's good for you isn't necessarily good for me," Hillary Morgan Ferrer's book, Mama Bear Apologetics, challenges Christian moms to teach their children the unchanging truth of God's Word and His ways. Way to go, Hillary! With a somewhat humorous and light-hearted approach, Ferrer succeeds in making the difficult and intimidating subject of apologetics accessible to all Christian mamas. Reminding mothers that faith needs to be based on the immovable, absolute truth of christ's life, death, and resurrection, Ferrer challenges mothers to teach their children about apolgetics, varying world views, and what the Bible has to say.

This book provides a go-to manual for moms who want to teach their children how to defend their faith but aren't quite sure where to start. Ferrer defines various worldviews (naturalism, skepticism, postmodernism, moral relativism, emotionalism, pluralism, new spirituality, Marxism, and feminism) and gives mothers some pointers using her ROAR method of apologetics: R - Recognize the message; O - Offer discernment; A - aruge for a healthier approach; and R - Reinforce through discussion, discipleship, and prayer. Chock full of practical and well-thought-out answers to difficult questions and biblical truth, Ferrer's Mama Bear Apologetics is the perfect handbook for mamas looking to equip their kids to wrestle with difficult issues.

If you're a mama who knows she needs to prepare her kids by teaching some apologetics but you just don't know where to start, this is the perfect read. Let Ferrer guide you with Mama Bear Apologetics.

Note: I received a copy of this book from the publisher through NetGalley in exhange for this honest review. The opinions expressed are entirely my own.
