This was really good. I'm really interested in power animals, and this was a great read about them. I think I'd like to get the physical copy.
What an interesting book. The Shaman’s Guide to Power Animals is a guidebook into the spirits of about 200 power animals and the natural world.
A really great book and one I highly recommend. Great job!
Top marks for the cover design of this book! It's gorgeous. The book itself leaves a bit to be desired. Firstly, this title ties in with the authors website. For $27 USD Lori through the wizardry of a computer software program divulge to you your animal spirit guide. My scepticism kicked up another notch due to the recurring incorrectness through the out the book. A few things, Tasmania is one of 6 states and 2 territories of the country Australia. It is not a nation on its own. Australia is home to deer thanks to Queen Victoria who gifted the deer. Dingo's most certainly can be domesticated however it is illegal against federal law. And it goes on and on. There is a lot in this book but unfortunately the research is sloppy.
A nice chunky book for those who work with animals and shaman practices. There is some introductory information at the beginning and then moves into the animals. You get an image of the animal and then keywords for the animal, then some information about the animal and how it the animal is on the shamanic level and relating in other areas. At the end of the information you get other names, powers of the animal, awareness of the animal, intention, energy centre, mineral, element and magic & mystery. So you do get a lot off information. One can go further researching, but a great start point.
This book was pretty informative about shamanism, and I enjoyed learning about it. I hadn’t ever really looked into it much but I wanted to learn more about spirit animals to further my practice. I loved the cover and was hoping to see more illustrations like it, but in general it was a good read.
The Shaman's Guide to Power Animals is a interesting book and it has a lot of information. I just admit I still remain skeptical and don't hold it against the book.
A very different type of book. this book was an interesting and delightful read. thanks to the publisher and netgalley for providing the tittle
This Book exceeded my expectations! As a shamanic practitioner myself I loved the lore and detail provided in this book about various power animals. Such a great little resource!! I love it so much I'm going ahead and buying a physical copy that I can keep on my bookshelf!
This is a very informative book on the qualities, strengths and spiritual significance of a wide variety of power animals. It is a great resource for anyone interested in journeying or shamanism in the broader sense. The illustrations inside were a treat and I liked the format. It makes a really good reference book, and covers many more animals than most other books on the subject. Many Thanks
I've recently become interested in learning about spirit animals, and making them a part of my spiritual practice. I was drawn to this book for the topic, though it was mostly the cover that caught my eye. I was hoping to find more gorgeous full color illustrations inside, but there aren't any, although there are lots of nice sketches. I wasn't familiar with shamanism prior to this book. Lori Morrison provides a well written history of the connection between animals and humans. There's easy to understand guidance on how to connect with your own Power Animals.
Many thanks to NetGalley for my advanced copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
