If you are looking for a cheesy, cute, fairy tale romance with palaces and castles, you should go for this one. For fans of Princess diaries, its' a definite yes. Khara, a waitress is the bridesmaid at a royal wedding and falls for the best man, Adam who also happens to be prince. They have an amazing chemistry right from the beginning but obviously as per the genre, they don't either communicate or realize until the end. It certainly follows the fairy tale romantic story plot-lines and doesn't throw any surprises but still for romance readers ,it is a fun read!

I am now interested in reading the author's other books as this book clearly indicated the plot of other characters and Max/Phoenix story seems to be really intriguing.

Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for an advance copy of the book in exchange for my honest review.

I generally read romance novels to escape reality “for a brief moment in time”. Although this book has an interesting plot and descriptive writing, I found it boring and slow. The transition between some chapters is confusing. I did not feel a strong chemistry between Adam and Khara especially at the end. Adam is weak and Khara is insecure and she placed too much emphasis on her so called “trailer trash” background.

This was exactly was I was looking for, and I really liked it!

Cheesy? Maybe... but it was, also a very nice entertaining and feel good story.
It was such a cute and captivating fairy tale romance, and far from the typical predictable Cinderella royal books. It might not be all that original, but that was not really what I wanted from this kind of story anyway.
Bottom line, I enjoyed the heck out of it.

It takes place in Romy Sommer's Westerwald trilogy, but can very easily be read as a standalone.

Khara Thomas is a cocktail waitress in Vegas from the wrong side of the tracks. She gets the chance of a lifetime to experience how the other half lives serving as maid of honor in her best friend's wedding to a European Archduke. The best man, notorious royal playboy Adam Hatton, offers to help her learn the ropes of royal protocol after one too many embarrassing moments for Khara. In a modern Pygmalion + Cinderella story, Khara has a hard time denying her growing attraction as she realizes there might be more to Adam than meets the eye.

A quick note, this book is a spinoff of another series by Romy Sommer, and I wish that had been made more clear. As I was reading, I felt like a lot of characters were just casually mentioned like I should have known who they were. It wasn't until after I finished that I found out they were the main characters in her other series.

Khara is not a very relatable or sympathetic character, and I felt like her huge "I'm poor, I'm trailer trash, I don't belong here" chip on her shoulder was really annoying. She wasn't really an endearing, awkward, "oops I'm too American to understand royal protocols;" rather, she was just super rude and almost snobby. Like, acting like she was better than the royals because she actually *worked*.

Adam was fine, and he actually had the more interesting character development. So while Khara acts like he is playboy Eurotrash, I found myself more drawn to his journey and growing maturity. It was an awkward disagreement between me and Khara for like half the book.

The story itself is predictable, but cute, and has the feelings of a grown up Princess Diaries. It had way more steam than I was expecting, but that's what we get nowadays with these cute cartoonish covers - it might be a sweet Sophie Kinsella story or it might be a steamy Helen Hoang lol. It didn't really add anything to the plot, but since the chemistry between Khara and Adam was rather unbelievable I think it was a cheap device to force you to see their relationship.

I'm giving this book 3 stars because I did really find Adam to be an interesting character and the story was cute and fun.

My Best Friend’s Royal Wedding, Romy Sommer

Review from Jeannie Zelos book reviews

Genre: General fiction (Adult), Romance

I've enjoyed several of Romy's novels, and read some of the Westerwald series, and this is a spin off off those. You don't need to have read them, but it will add a bit more understanding if you have, and it was good to see those characters again. For me that was the best part of the story.
This time I just didn't like either of the main characters. I need to like at least one of them, and before I've felt real empathy with Romy's folk, but Adam was a rich, entitled, playboy stereotype, and Khara had a total chip on her shoulder about her position in life and was verging on rude at times.

The description pretty much tells it all, I started to skim read as I was bored by the two of them constantly sniping at each other. Neither really gave the other a chance, and then suddenly there they were in love. Lust I could understand, but anything more – well, as I still felt they each had no real respect for the others position it was a bit hard to take.
Sadly this one was a miss for me :-( but hopefully just a blip, and of course others love it. Horses for courses, we all like different things

Stars: Two, I was surprised not to enjoy this but just couldn't relate to the main characters.

My Best Friend’s Royal Wedding is a perfect reading selection for those who love a fantasy about marrying into a royal family. In this selection, we are taken on a journey of two best friends as they navigate their own separate experiences with the prince of their dreams.

Khara has lived a hard life, growing up poor and works in a casino as she puts herself through college. Tired of wealthy, arrogant men who think they can have whoever and whatever they want, she has sworn them all off. Especially the wealthy ones. For now, she is focused on her extended trip to Europe for the royal wedding of her best friend, Phoenix, to Max, the crown prince of Westerberg. Her bridesmaid duties find her spending most of her time with the handsome and maddening, Adam, and it’s not the first time their paths have crossed.

Adam has just lost his cousin, Nick, and now has a big decision to make. Should he accept the offer to be the crown prince of Erdeley, knowing he does not do commitments? He would prefer to live his playboy life, not thinking about anyone else. That way, nothing hurts. In the meantime, Adam avoids life in general by teaching Khara royal etiquette and prepping her for the upcoming nuptials that will be on the worldwide stage.

As the sparring between Khara and Adam moves from contentious to more, ‘Royal Wedding’ takes you inside the castle walls for a sneak peek at what it’s like to prepare and conduct a royal wedding. It also will take you on a journey with two flawed people who each have their reasons for why they should never be together.

I highly recommend this book if you enjoy romance and royalty.

This was just the type of book I was in the mood for. It was light, sweet and funny. While it was a bit predictable, the characters were likable and the story kept my interest and kept me smiling. And like any good book like this, it had a nice HEA. This was a quick read that left me smiling.

Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for an advance copy of the book in exchange for my honest review. The opinions above are my own.

This was my first book by this author, but I can't resist a royal romance. I really enjoyed the story in this book; however, I had a hard time with the characters as the book started and had to warm up to them. As the story progressed, I found myself rooting for the characters to change and "see the light." The side characters really helped move this story along and give background to why the characters were the way they were. It was a nice read and the ending was satisfying.

Although this was an ok read, trying to sell it as comparable to Sally Thorne or Helen Hoang is way off. The story itself had potential but it lacked any real chemistry, despite mentioning it constantly. Khara was incredibly easy to hate too. I was so sick of her by the time I got half way through the book. It's too bad really, this could've been great.

This story is sweet and funny and everything you expect from a rags to riches royal story. Khara, agirl from the trailer park in Las Vegas meets Adam, the entitled potential heir to a small country. She is strong, independent and feisty. He is wealthy, bored and used to getting his way. She is a surprise to him because she doesn't fall all over his feet. While this might sound cliche, My Best Friend's Royal wedding was heartfelt and addicting from start to finish. My one complaint was that this seems to follow a trilogy by Romy Sommer about the romance of the friend Phoenix & Max who are getting married. This wasn't stated in the description or in the goodreads (including it as part of the collection). I looked it up after multiple references to the long story about the couple's courtship. This book is a complete stand alone, and the previous series was not required reading to enjoy this story.

I received an arc of this book from NetGalley and voluntarily give my review

The story doesn’t flow as well as I’d like from one moment to another. I don’t need a ton of extra details, but maybe a better segue of what happens between one sentence and the next. I wasn’t a big fan of the writing style but I did enjoy the storyline. Entertaining characters and an overall interesting story. It was different than anything I’ve read lately, I liked it.

I am going to have to read the rest of the books by this author because I really enjoyed this one, and seems like there are some good tales based on some of the back characters in this. I always love a royal wedding type book and this one didn’t disappoint. 4 stars.

Khara is a cocktail waitress in Vegas, working her way through college. Her BFF is getting married to a minor European royal and Khara is going to be the bridesmaid. She's used to grabby customers, drunks and frat boys who think she's easy pickings but the loud, obnoxious group of eurotrash trust fund kids take the biscuit, especially the one who just assumed she'd be grateful to sleep with him - arrogant pig.

Adam is minor eurotrash royalty, 'working' for his family's investment bank, sleeping his way round Europe, drinking and partying, until a friend's suicide acts as a wake-up call, but now he feels powerless and guilty that he didn't know how bad his friend felt. Now he's best man at his cousin's wedding and intrigued by the bridesmaid who seems to regard him with disdain.

If you liked The Princess Diaries, especially the sequel, or The Prince and Me (again especially the sequel) then this is right up your street. Tiny European principalities, entitled (literally) wealthy minor royalty and plucky Americans falling in love. Of course Khara has a great work ethic and principles despite having been brought up in a trailer park by a single mum. Of course Adam is a waster, despite having parents who are hard-working and principled.

This felt like a very young book, as an over 50 I am definitely not the target audience but it was a fun read (and I am a closet fan of The Princess Diaries).

I received a free copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley in return for an honest review.

I love royal fiction, however I do always judge them against The Royal We (and now American Royals). While this is no where close to either of those two it was a simple enjoyable read. It did drag a bit but was wrapped up with a happily ever after bow in the end.

Fans of The Royal We and Josh and Hazel’s Guide to Not Dating, meet your next great Rom-Com in My Best Friend’s Royal Wedding!!

We first meet Kahra in Las Vegas, as she is working her job at a casino as a server. We get a little back story, and then flash forward a year and we find Kahra traveling overseas to be her best friend’s bridesmaid. Enter best man Adam... the will they won’t they banter back and forth is entertaining, and we see a true transformation during the month they are together - of both characters.

Romy Sommer’s writing is fresh, fun, sexy (not too crazy), and addictive. I breezed though this book in a day or two! I would love to see more of Kahra and Adam!!!

Thank you Net Galley and Harper Impuse and Killer Reads for this ARC. All opinions are my own.

I try to adjust my expectations when reading books that aren’t, well, going to be regarded as literary giants anytime soon, but My Best Friend’s Royal Wedding just lacked so much in all categories. The plot was immature, the characters were hacked out from some guide to subpar writing, and the cliches and efforts to make this book funny and sexy made me cringe from the first page. I can read fluffy books and enjoy them for what they are, but I still insist upon an iota of even mediocre writing. I can not recommend this book to even the most indiscriminate reader.

While reading this I felt like it was a "sequel" to other books set in this world, but Goodreads didn't say it was part of a series. But, after reading a review I realized that it is a spin off of the Westerwald series. You don't have to read the other books to understand this one, but it would have been nice to know.

But, anyways this book is light and kind of boring. I did not enjoy it that much since the two main characters are unlikeable. In a romance book I would like to at least be rooting for the charters, but since they were annoying I didn't care. Also, what chemistry? Adam was way too possessive and I hated the side "I have to teach this poor girl how to be among rich people" plot, it felt like he was talking down to her the entire time. But, Khara was no better she was rude to Adam, but at the time time she (and everyone else in the novel) is pressuring him to be a ruler. Neither of them seemed to know anything about poor people/rich people which with the internet seems unlikely. Although, they are both self absorbed so maybe not.

Also, idk if it was my speed reading, but there seemed to be some plot inconsistencies. Especially with her blue hair and weather or not it had washed out.

Either way, I did not hate it. I wanted a light read and that is what I got.

Khara a cocktail waitress in Vegas heads to Europe for her best friend’s royal wedding. While the wedding preparations are getting underway Khara runs into the arrogant and entitled bestman Adam who she happened to have met the year before and might just be the heir to a small country.

With the wedding date approaching Adam helps Khara get used to royal etiquette while both try to hide their building feelings for each other. My Best Friend’s Royal Wedding is a sweet and funny slow burn romance that’s a perfect day read.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC.

A chance meeting in a Las Vegas casino leaves a lasting impression on Khara Thomas... for all the wrong reasons. Cut to a year later and Adam is still a bad memory for Khara, yet he doesn't know why. A tragic event turns Adam's life upside down and he and Khara are once again thrown together once again, with the constraints of royal life, weddings and friends amongst them. Neither quite knows how to navigate the emotions and feelings hanging around them, especially as they get to know each other properly..
This was a quick, easy read with minimal drama, set in a world that many of us imagine, but only a few ever experience and never speak of. It was simple to imagine, yet not so far fetched that you questioned all its plot points.

I didn't enjoy this as much as I had hoped, but it was still a good book. I thought the ending was a little abrupt with the hero seemingly changing his tune overnight. Still a decent read.
