This book was cute but there were a few little things that bothered me that kept me from really enjoying it. Mainly it was Khara. I didn’t mind her as a character, but her whole self-conscious thing got really annoying after a while. If you’ve seen Pretty Woman you know you start from the outside silverware and work your way in, come on!
I also just felt Khara’s character was trying to be too much at once. Adam was fine, but he was also the stereotypical romantic rake. While Khara was trying to do too much as a character, Adam’s was not trying to do enough. I didn’t find him particularly charming, and in fact, I mostly found him boring.
The story was predictable, which usually I give romantic comedies as pass on, but with everything else being so unremarkable at least the plot could have been a little better. As I said this was a cute story, but it was nothing special.
A cute light hearted read, nice story, found the characters hard to relate to however and struggled because of that, nice enough read.

Thank you to One More Chapter and Netgalley for a copy of My Best Friend’s Royal Wedding by Romy Sommer for an honest review.
My Best Friend’s Royal Wedding follows Khara, a Vegas cocktail waitress struggling to get by, on a journey to a small European country where her best friend is marrying an Archduke. Khara does not take anything for granted but obviously feels very out of place in a castle.
The other viewpoint in the story is Adam, who is suddenly next in line to rule a country he had never even visited and is reluctant to give up his carefree playboy prince life.
The story was fun, the characters however really repeated themselves for most of the first half. We seemed to be constantly reminded that Khara was poor and Adam couldn’t keep a girlfriend, it got a little old. However, once the wedding actually started and they started to get together more, the plot picked up and I enjoyed it more. There are a few sex scenes near the end but just a couple, they are more on the graphic side if that bothers you.
This was just mediocre. I'm a sucker for a royal romance and unfortunately, this just didn't meet my expectations. The romance was just okay and I couldn't for the life of me connect with the characters. Overall it was an alright book and a fast read.
This one was entertaining though at times a bit more cheesy than I would like. However, I would recommend for someone who is a big fan of royal romances/comedy. 3.5

I went into this with pretty high expectations because I love a good royalty romance. To say I was massively disappointed would be an understatement. In the beginning the main characters are really annoying and don’t seem to have any chemistry whatsoever. Adam our love interest is awful and has no redeeming qualities and I just don’t understand how and why I’m supposed to be rooting for them.
And to top it off from the very beginning I have been feeling as if I’m missing something when they keep referring to things that happened with our main character’s best friend Phoenix only to discover later that this book is a spinoff to another series! I would have really liked to have known that before going in. I just wanted to enjoy the ride and get invested in a nice royalty romance but could not. This book
Funny, lighthearted, commoner-meets-royal romance. Easy to read, not heavy, dramatic or angsty. The writing was solid, and the author delivered the happy-ever-after royal romance fairy tale. Good for a lighthearted read when you need to recover from something emotion and dense.
3.5 stars
This book is cute, cheesy and and full of cliches but I really enjoyed reading it and it was filled with more depth than I was expecting.
Yes there is the poor girl - rich boy cliche and the arrogant selfish man changes for the girl cliche but I didn't care!
The book is well written with some very likeable characters and a few different storylines happening which meant it wasn't boring.
I love a royal theme and it lived up to the grandeur that I was hoping for.
There was quite alot of womanising and judgemental comments which I didn't enjoy. Especially when the main female lead was judging other women. It's 2020, surely there needs to be less female to female hate nowadays?
Despite this, if you enjoy a light hearted romance with a few steamy, then it is definitely worth a read.

This reminds me of a perfect rom-com movie. The characters are cute and funny in the best way. Love the dialogues... A light, fun read and perfect for days when you are just want to stay home and snuggle in bed to read.
It was an entertaining story but nothing more. It's the typical book you pick when you want something light and easy to read.
I love royal romances and although this one was a bit cheesy and predictable, I still enjoyed it. Khara and Adam’s chemistry was absolutely sizzling and I loved the slow burn that built between them. This was a quick, sexy, fun and light read. Thank you to Netgalley and Harper Impulse for the ARC.

This was a fun and enjoyable book- not entirely unexpected, but Sommer brought in several twists to keep you interested. A lot of people have attempted royal chick lit, and this certainly is one of the best! It isn't dependent on royalty to keep the story going (a common issue). Overall, perfect for anyone who wants a light royal story!
I had to DNF, this one just wasn’t quite working for me. To start, the formatting of the ARC was difficult to read, as some of the text that I think was meant to be text messages was smudged looking. It was very odd among other weird formatting problems.
The characters also weren’t doing much for me. I didn’t feel particularly interested in any of them or what they were doing. They all seemed surface level, or condescending and I’ve learned that there’s not enough time to waste it reading something you’re not enjoying.
I’m disappointed this didn’t work me because the cover is great and the synopsis sounded like something I would enjoy, but the writing didn’t feel overly special, and the characters weren’t relatable to me.
This could definitely work well for someone else, and maybe I’ll try it again sometime, but for now I have to put it down.

I wanted to love this one but it felt under written and unsure if it wanted to be rom com or romance. I’m definitely being harsher in reviews in 2020 cause life is short but this was just “eh” to me, Fun, sweet moments but nothing special.
I can really only describe this as the novel version of a Hallmark movie with a little bit more steam. Khara heads to a small monarchy to perform bridesmaid duties for her best friend who is marrying a prince. The best man, Adam, is a smooth talking yet arrogant gentleman from another small monarchy who seems to always be running away from responsibility (his royal duties) and hard work. Khara and Adam are polar opposites but as they prepare for the royal wedding, they slowly become closer.
This was definitely a quick read and is such a sweet story. It’s super predictable like most novels centered around royals and enemies - to - lovers tropes. My one downfall with this novel, is that it tends to drag a little bit in the middle, but picks up again after a couple of chapters.
This book was just not my style. I found it lacking. I just couldn't relate to any of the characters, or even really get into the story.
2/5
Royal romance and enemies to lovers are two of my favorite tropes. I mean who doesn’t dream of becoming a princess? I enjoyed most of this story, but it did drag in some parts which took a little away from my overall enjoyment.
Khara, a cocktail waitress in Las Vegas, gets the chance of a lifetime when her best friend, Phoenix asks her to be her bridesmaid in her royal wedding. Adam, the best man, is a wealthy and arrogant royal from a small European country. Khara and Adam are polar opposites but their friends’ wedding brings them together.
Overall, this was a cute story. My one big complaint was that there were parts of the story that slowed the pace. It definitely reminded me of a Hallmark movie with a little more steam and ended up being a quick read for me. If you like anything to do with royals, I would definitely give this one a try!
I appreciate Netgalley and the publisher for the gifted copy in exchange for an honest review.
Thoroughly enjoyable read. Background set and khara leaves her home town of Vegas to be bridesmaid to her friend in a small European principality. Characters from the entitled class abound but do not dent kharas down to earth attitude. Adam entitled, arrogant and bored, is not used to the word no. An uneasy friendship begins and helps both of them to develop and see different perspectives.
Family history plays a part on both sides. You are routing for a happy ending that leaves you hoping right till the end.
I will be looking for follow up books for the believable and likeable supporting characters.
My Best Friend's Royal Wedding is just a cute, light-hearted, quick read that is fun and enjoyable. Enemies-to-lovers romance is my favorite trope in a rom-com, so I definitely enjoyed that aspect of this book. You can read through this one super quickly and it will give you all the feels :)
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC.
I am all about royal wedding fiction or non-fiction, so i thought this would be the perfect book for me. Khara best friend is marrying a prince and she is the maid of honor.
While this should of been my perfect book, just perfectly light and fluffy for me it was a bit of a dud. I found both Khara and Adam non-fulfilling. I also wish I knew this was a spinoff novel before reading. I think if I had read the original series it would helped me with the context of the world.
I enjoyed the writing and the pacing but the charters just killed it for me. would read more from this author
