Great novel that kept me hooked throughout. Really enjoyed getting to know all the characters particularly Jonah. Thanks for the opportunity to read.

Chilling, thrilling, gripping, emotionally involving, jumpy, creepy, and utterly unputdownable. If you love a good physiological thriller then this one is definitely for you.

This story follows Jenny who has moved to an old house on Blackheath. For me I gave up after about 20% as I found myself skimming pages. Not for me.
Thank you to netgalley for this arc in exchange for my honest review

Yikes! Jenny thinks her new home will be a haven but it's not. Nothing here is what it appears to be at first. A good fast paced read.

Absolutely nothing is as it seems in this book. It starts off slow, but just as soon as you have it figured out, you get surprised again. Recommended.

The Silence by Joss Stirling was a chilling psychological thriller, with lots of twists and turns throughout I was hooked from the very first few pages. This is a novel that will stay with me for a long time and I highly recommend it, especially as Joss Stirling is a new author to me and I will be reading more of her books in the future.

I grew up not far from Blackheath and could visualise the old atmospheric house. A wonderful story that had me turning the pages from start to finish. I must admit to not being fond of stories that switch from past to present, but it was done so well in 'The Silence' that it didn't matter. It is the first time that i have read a book by Joss Stirling and am sure it will not be the last. I would recommend giving this book a try.

My thanks to Netgalley and the Publishers for my copy. This is my honest review, voluntarily given.

(Waiting for Amazon to publish my review).

A chilling phone call starts the intense suspense of this book and the on goings at Gallant House. The story is told in past and present which tells you the history of the house and the current story of one of its tenants, Jenny. . Jenny is unable to speak after a tragedy occurred to her years before. The story was easy to follow and I never once got bored with it. I enjoyed every second of this psychological thriller. This is my first book by Joss Stirling and will definitely be reading more of the author's work.

I was given an ARC from Netgalley in return for an honest review.

Really enjoyed this book, having read all of Joss Stirling's YA titles and loved them, I found this much different and quite shocking but also loved it.
I liked how the story was told from different perspectives and how it all weaved together.

This book is really good! Sometimes its predictable and a few times it slowed but overall it was a good read.

Some difficult themes are covered here and the book is creepy in the extreme, but well written, with enough twists to keep the reader interested.

Thank you to NetGalley and to the publisher for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

A young woman moves into an old, creepy house. The owner is an elderly woman who was a dancer until rheumatoid arthritis ended her career. The other tenant is annex con with a tragic past. This story is told as Jacob is questioned for a crime - now and a year previous.
I liked the narrative- the house even contributed her history. Decent plot, moved along and likeable characters.

Thank you Netgalley for the Arc in exchange for my honest review. All opinions are my own and are completely unbiased.

Well hello there Joss Stirling! Where have you been all these years? You brilliant author you. No seriously this book triggered all emotions.... Completely sucks you in and takes you for one heck of a rollercoaster ride, with its twist and turns.

Told in past and present, which weaves together to fit perfectly - like watching Cinderella put on her glass slipper. I can’t get into giving a summary because I won’t stop and I refuse to spoil such a great Conclusion; you’ll thank me :)

Enjoy

The Silence, my first read by Joss Stirling, was a creepy, gripping thriller and very different from many other novels with a similar theme.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book and it held my attention with its unsettling atmosphere. The story was packed with drama, handling issues of greed, hatred and theft, as well as rape, child abuse, sexual abuse and drug use. These subjects were handled very sensitively, however abuse was a major theme throughout.

The Silence exceeded all of my expectations and I admired how Joss Stirling managed to create such unique protagonists, as well as being people to whom I could so completely relate. Jenny, the mute violinist, was a fascinating character and the gradual revelation of her childhood trauma had me enthralled. Jonah too, despite his cynical and questionable attitude to life, became a much loved character by the end of the book. Each of the characters had a unique trait, as well as great depth.

The story moved between the past and present, enabling me to piece together the stories of the characters in a way that kept me engaged and wondering what might happen next. Every time I thought I had the characters worked out, new information came to fruition that threw me. I loved that the events and revelations in the book were often shocking and unexpected.

What really made The Silence a standout novel for me was the part that the house played in the narrative. The chapters told from the perspective of Gallant House made it seem as though there was another character in the story and it was fascinating to see how the house affected its inhabitants, particularly in Bridget's case. I thoroughly enjoyed reading The Silence which had me on the edge of my seat until the last page and I cannot recommend it highly enough. It should interest anyone who is looking for something challenging and unusual.

I received a complimentary digital copy of this novel, at my own request, from Harper Impulse and Killer Reads/One More Chapter via NetGalley. This review is my own unbiased opinion.
