Unfortunately, I did not get around to reading this title but I still hope to sometime in the future.
One of my all time favorite books and one I highly recommend to friends looking for a ya fantasy. I really enjoyed the unique take on the magic system and would love to be able to control storms. The FMC is one of my favorites and this is a book I have read multiple times.
I’ve been such a huge fan of Cora Carmack ever since her debut romance novel, Losing It, released. I was so excited when she started writing fantasy as fantasy books are my all time favourite genre. Despite this, and the fact that I absolutely adored Roar, Rage has sat on my TBR for years before I finally picked it up. I am so sad I left it so long as this book was absolutely fantastic!
Despite it being a good 4 years since I read Roar, I picked up the characters and storyline really easily. Cora is absolutely fantastic at reminding you of what happened in the previous book without it feeling overly repetitive. I was immediately sucked back into this amazing world of storm magic and it felt like the perfect autumnal read (especially as I read it during a rainstorm). I honestly loved so many elements of this book. The characters are fantastic, and I quickly fell back in love with Roar and Locke. I am such a big shipper of theirs, and they honestly break my heart with their miscommunication.
Rage was an emotional rollercoaster. I was obsessed and excited over the storyline and the action. I was swooning and in love with Roar and Locke’s relationship. I was intrigued and interested in the back story that starts in the prologue. It was just a whole journey of every emotion, which is typical for the insane talent of Cora Carmack. The ending of this book was absolutely phenomenal and I honestly can’t wait to read the conclusion of this series when it releases. I am patiently awaiting news as this is fast becoming a favourite series of mine.
Now that Roar knows there's more to her than just being ordinary, she needs to return to her kingdom as soon as possible. The only problem is that she's scared to tell everyone her true identity. Especially Locke. Throughout their journey, Roar and Locke have grown closer and closer. She's grown to care for him and the other hunters because it's the first place she's felt like she belonged.
With the hunters at her side, Roar returns to Pavon and realizes it's time for her to be Aurora again. Her stormheart discovery leaves her with more questions than answers, but it's better than nothing. She runs into old guards, old friends, and discovers new friends all in her mission to take back her kingdom.
So, I absolutely love Locke and think he is the sweetest, but a part of me also cares for Cassius so I'm curious to see how the third one plays out. The ending is amazing and leaves me eager for the third. Roar has even more character growth and is probably one of my favorite female leads. She's strong, dependable, and will do anything for her country. While this can sometimes make her reckless, it also gives her courage no matter how bleak the situation seems. The storms play a bigger role and still adore the world Cora Carmack created. The dynamics between Locke and Roar are up and down but once again, I see their relationship as perfectly imperfect, just like with the first one.
Final Verdict: RAGE is an incredible follow up to ROAR and it leaves me so eager for the third. I would recommend this to fans of magic, fantasy, romance, and strong female leads.
While in the first installment, Roar, Aurora was eager to leave the world she was born into. Here in Rage, Aurora is eager to come back. Unfortunately, someone else rules her kingdom. In an attempt to reclaim it, Aurora is forced to take action, taking her rightful role of a princess and putting Roar on the back burner. The only way to win this is by joining the rebellion.
Princess Aurora’s relationship with Cass gets very complicated. She has to leave her rebellious side for her real-life royal persona. Unfortunately, this leaves Cass aside and her responsibilities upfront and center. I respect her for making this move and all her decisions in this book. Aurora has grown so much more mature in every way. Her evolving magic and its history also take the front page. I’m happy to say there is more magic-wielding in this book than the last. I loved seeing her take control of everything. From her magic to her situation to her emotions. Not to mention the magic that came her way. Go, Princess!
You’ll also see the other characters grow with Aurora. I feel that there was more focus on the side characters Kiran, Nova, and Jinx’s background, their current stories, and their friendship with Aurora. But what I love most is the action they all brought to the story. I found myself at the edge of my seat when they fought the raging storms.
Overall, I enjoyed this book a bit more than the first installment.
A wonderful sequel to Roar. Aurora is back in Paven with Kiran and the rest of the hunters. Aurora wants to rescue the Queen and Nova and sets out to do so. The story does seem to drag a little in this one (which is why I gave it 4 out of 5 stars) for the first half of the book. It does get better near the end with battles and witches saving the day. I also liked the backstory with the Stormlord. He was more interesting than I thought he would be.
Over all this is a good book. I enjoyed it and I think that others will too.
What a fascinating book. I was impressed by the storyline and the characters were all well written and complex. Where there are complex storylines combined with intriguing characters the reader experience is magnified tremendously. To have a book that is well written as well as entertaining is a delight. Reading is about escaping your world and entering another one. The word building was phenomenal in this book. Here I forgot about my own life and was immersed in the world created by the author. I would recommend this book.
I love Cora Carmack, and I love that she went a completely different route than what she normally writes with the Roar series. I can't wait to get my hands on what she writes next.
Book 2 does not disappoint. Starts right where book one let off with wonderful world building, stormhunters, witches, and a kingdom in disarray. This is a trilogy and the last chapters leave you needing book 3!
I loved this story! It wasn't as good as Roar, but it was still a wonderful second book.
The second in a trilogy, Rage starts almost as soon as the Roar stopped, Aurora is back with vengeance and getting better at life while still being her, naive, makes mistakes, and owning up to her decisions that she makes.
New characters and older characters are here and back!
The ending was so interesting and I can't wait to read the third book in this great series!
This book is AMAZING! After loving the first book in the series, I couldn't wait to read Rage and it was everything I wanted and so much more. The character development is great, you don't have one boring moment in the story and as always, Cora's writing is phenomenal.
I must say, the first half of this book had me fearing that this was going to suffer the second book syndrome hard. But good lord the last chapter or two was so wild that I need a book three!
I think the main character has a little bit still to go before I completely love her, but honestly so many of the secondary characters are big hits with me that I don't even care.
In conclusion, while this isn't my favorite book that I've read this year I still give it four stars. I think that if you like fantasy YA books you'll probably like this series.
Such a great read! The world building is intense and atmospheric. Very vibrant and vivid details. The characters are lovable and relatable. I love Roar’s character and how she connects with the other characters. Can’t wait for book three as this one left me on the edge of my seat until the very end.
Unfortunately, I did not get the chance to read this ARC prior to the book's publication, and we did not end up buying it for our library collection.
This book was incredible!! Rage starts off shortly after the end of Roar (thank you for that Cora!) with Aurora and the stormhunters returning to Pavan to find everything turned upside down. This book is fast paced and I found it hard to put down until the very end when I wanted to throw it across the room! In Rage, we return to the same cast of characters that we know and love plus a few new faces. And of course we get more of Cassius, the bad boy prince that you hate to love...seriously I still can't decide how I feel about him! Speaking of love interests...we see some old love interests peak and some new love interests develop and I absolutely am rooting for one in particular that develops in this book and stole my heart!! Aurora continues to discover her powers and how to control them/use them towards her own goals. We also see some new cool witch powers throughout this book and I cannot wait to hopefully see more in book 3!! Rage was full of twists and turns and soooo many secrets that were revealed!! I cannot recommend this book enough especially if you have read and enjoyed Roar!!
I read Cora Carmack's Roar when it first came out, and I remember loving it to pieces. Usually, I'm strictly a romance reader, but every once in a while I have a hankering for a young adult novel with some fantasy elements. Rage fit the bill, and while I didn't remember every part from the first one (it's been a while), the book did a really good job of reminding me of the plot and throwing me right back in the hot water.
Aurora has come into her magic, and she's still figuring things out while getting ready to do the biggest task of all. Return home and take back the throne. But the Lockes have a stronghold on her old kingdom, and she doesn't know where to start.
Luckily, she has a great group of hunters and friends fighting at her side.
While the first book was coming-of-age, in this one, Roar knows who she is, but it's a journey to find out how to find her footing and own it. It's a powerful concept and it was done beautifully.
The supporting cast was great, as always. I loved getting to know Sly better, in particular, and meeting other interesting characters. Jinx, however, became my favorite character in this installment, and her parts with Nova were some of the BEST. I can't wait to see more of this storyline emerge.
Overall, I loved this one. Seeing this group of friends interact and come together with the high stakes of starting a rebellion...it was the perfect backdrop to a couldn't-put-it-down read. I'm excited to see what happens next.
As much as I adore Cora Carmack, I was unable to finish this book. I think the overall story just wasn't for me and have refrained from posting a review.
As usual, Cora Cormack does NOT disappoint. I have missed Roar, Locke and Cassius for so long and was so happy to see them again right where they were left off. Learning more about storms, their purposes and the spirits was an incredible ride and still not enough for me! I want MORE ROAR!!! I would recommend this series for any fans of Graceling, the Grishaverse, and Avatar the Last Airbender
Okay, I liked Roar and I was totally team Kiran and could not wait to see what happens next. Honestly, this one dragged a bit for me, I thought it took a while to get going. I also struggled a bit with the romantic portion of this book and I had some issues with both Kiran/Cassius (possessiveness) I think in the next book, I'm most excited to follow Jinx and Nova's storyline, I'm all about that!
This was a great continuation of this story, Roar's return was great and the introduction to the enemy was interesting, including his back story. The turn of the events at the end was intriguing, I cannot wait to see what happens in the next book!!
