I enjoyed this book by Liz Johnson but I don't have time for a formal review. I know when I read her books, I will find all the elements I look for in a good book: relatable characters, interesting storyline, and faith elements that are realistic.

A Glitter of Gold by Liz Johnson is book 2 in the Georgia Coast Romance series. This book features two main characters thrown together when at the end of their ropes financially. They come together to find a lost shipwreck and follow journal entries from long ago. This story is full of so much romance and mystery from long ago and the present— it’s an absolute delight. I received a digital copy of this book from the publisher with no obligations. These opinions are entirely my own.

This was a decent adventure romance novel with an intriguing plot to find a lost treasure and likeable characters that find their true purpose after experiencing disappointment and pain. I did find the beginning rather slow but it slowly picks up as they work together to uncover lost treasure. Plenty of action and sweet, slow burn romance.

I was quickly drawn into this story and really enjoyed the characters and setting. Savannah has such a unique vibe, and it was easy to imagine Anne and Carter in the city since I've been there once before. Anne and Carter are both likeable, and their friendship develops naturally. They each have issues from their past they are still working through that brought depth to the story, especially in the end as they overcome their personal struggles through faith and forgiveness. The pirate story was exciting and even though the longer passages from the diary slowed the pace of the present-day story at times, it was a good fit with Anne's tour business and Carter's background of maritime historical research, not to mention the family connection. I loved his Aunt Tessie, Wallace, and Hazel as secondary characters that supported Anne and Carter in their quest for funding to discover the location of the shipwreck. The attraction between Carter and Anne is a slow-burn through most of the book, but when they do surprise each other with romantic feelings, it's sweetly passionate. I appreciated that there was a good resolution to the story from the diary and everything wrapped up nicely.

I enjoyed this second book in Liz Johnson’s most recent series. While I did read them in order, I appreciated that you didn’t need to have read A Sparkle of Silver in order to follow this novel.

Endearing! Anne would never have expected that a sword hilt found on a beach after a hurricane would cause a personal hurricane, involving pirates and an intriguing gentleman.

A Glitter of Gold is the second book in Liz Johnson's Georgia Coast Romance series and another very good read. I loved the journal entries...that was one of my favorite things about the story. I found the hunt for the shipwreck aspect fascinating and was never bored.

I liked the characters. It was interesting to see how the romance progressed and the ending was sweet. I thought the story was written very well and can't wait for the next book.

All in all, I recommend A Glitter of Gold!

"It sounds to me like you're carrying some heavy shame. And here's what I know. Grace is better than shame. Every time."

An evocative, powerful tale. Charming romance with likable Christian characters. An added intriguing mystery and treasure hunt. A split-time period story will keep you engaged throughout the book.

I can't wait to read the next book in the series!

Anne Norris moved to Savannah, Georgia, for a fresh start. Now her pirate-tour business is flagging, and paying the rent requires more than wishful thinking. When she discovers evidence of a shipwreck off the coast of Tybee Island, she knows it could be just the boon she needs to stay afloat. She takes her findings to local museum director Carter Hale for confirmation, but she runs after a disastrous first meeting.

Carter has been searching for the location of the wreck detailed in the worn pages of an 18th-century diary, the discovery of which could open the door to his dream job at a prestigious museum. But convincing Anne to help him fill in the missing pieces of the puzzle is no easy task. And working with Carter means that Anne will have to do the one thing she swore she'd never do again: trust a man.

Finding a monetary backer and sticking with a search that's turning up nothing will take all their dedication--and every secret they've tried to hide. If they can find the lost ship, they may discover a treasure worth more than all the pirate gold in the world--love.

This a story about two people running from their past, trying to find their future. Anne was wrongly accused of a felony and served time in jail. Carter is running away from family expectations. When Anne finds a treasure on the beach after a hurricane she takes it to the museum where Carter works. Carter knows exactly what it is because he has a diary that describes it perfectly. Anne has a lot of trust issues due to her previous experiences so she doesn't want to work with Carter at all. They finally come to a truce.

This is a good book and I would recommend it. I was expecting a little bit more mystery but still a good book. This is the second book in the series. But it is not necessary to read the first book.

I was given this book by the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. I was not compensated in any way.

Liz Johnson writes such beautiful stories. They always have such interesting and unique storylines. This one follows suit. I mean who doesn't like a book about a sunken ship, treasure floating to shore, plus some mild romance? Mystery and history! It's a perfect combination. The story clips along nicely, it kept my interest well. I felt like the characters were likable and relatable. Themes of forgiveness, restoration, love, grace, and family ties were evident throughout the story. I love the way Ms. Johnson writes these themes into her stories. They are parts of real life and she handles them beautifully. I also liked that Anne wasn't a spoiled rich kid. She was struggling financially. This is something most people can relate to at some point in their life. I love that it was part of this story. This book is great for a day at the beach, an afternoon in your favorite chair, or a cold winter night wrapped in a blanket. You'll soak up every part of the story and learn a little bit about pirate history too! What's not to love? I recommend this book and gave it 4 stars. I received a copy from Revell. I was in no way required to write a positive review. All thoughts are my own.

This is the second book in the series. I didn't read the first book. This can be read as a stand alone novel.
This book gripped me from the beginning, Anne Norris is running away from her past. Even though she is free now, she is immersed in the shame of her past. I like a quote from this book, "Shame is a powerful muzzle."
When Anne finds a relic on the beach, she goes to a museum to verify its worth, where she meets Carter Hale, the curator of the museum, together they try to find the means to look for a lost ship. There is another story in this book, I loved the historical diary entries, they were well written. A story about forgiveness and overcoming shame.

I love that this story is set in Savannah with all the rich history. I liked the way the author portrayed the differences between Anne's and Carter's families. The diary that led to the treasure hunt was very realistic and added depth to the story. I loved Tessie's great faith and wisdom. This was a new author for me and I'm looking forward to reading more of her books. Recommended!

This is the second book in this series, but I really think it stands quite well as a stand-alone!
I enjoyed the story, the characters, and the setting.
Anne is in Savannah...a long way away from her home in California. She's giving pirate tours as a way to make a living.
Then a hurricane hits, and she makes an incredible discovery on the beach -- a sword hilt that appears to be made of gold.
When she takes it to a local museum to get it authenticated, she finds much more than she bargained for. She joins forces with the curator, Carter, who also has a huge interest in this particular sword.
Anne reads the diary Carter has, and together they try to discover what happened to a ship wrecked many years ago.
They face many obstacles, and I really enjoyed reading about this 'treasure hunt'.
The characters are realistic, and I appreciated seeing their growth through this story.
I liked seeing how the events from the diary, written about 250 years earlier, and then the present day story, all tied together.
The twists and turns in this story kept me wanting to read more.

My expectations were high when I started to read this novel, as I have loved all the books I have previously read by this author. She has an outstanding talent as a storyteller, keeping one totally engrossed from beginning to end of her tales. And what a tale this is!!! What could possibly be better than a story of a heroine, Anne, who directs pirate tours in Savannah , Georgia? Sounds mysterious and somewhat spooky, doesn't it?? Finding an artifact from a possible ship wreck , she decides she must find out what it is and what is it worth; Don't we all wish we could find a pirate's treasure???? This grabbed my attention and wouldn't let it go!! Carter, a museum director, enters the scene as Anne seeks answers. He also is following a quest of his own, searching for answers about a family diary that has been handed down many years. Could there be a connection between the two??

The characters in this book , were so realistically and well described that they drew me right into the story. I felt their every worry, concern, challenge and fear. I walked alongside them in their rocky road of life.

The plot developed at a somewhat slow pace, however there were unexpected twists and turns to keep the reader in suspense.

A strong sense of God's power to bring healing and forgiveness comes through loud and clear. If only we allow Him, He will lead us in our path in life.

*REVIEW* 🌟🌟🌟🌟
I could say I loved A Glitter Of Gold just because of the setting. Savannah is my favorite city, and I've spent a lot of time there as well as Tybee Island. Just about everything in Savannah is haunted in some way, and there is a lot of pirate lore. I'm glad the story matched the vibe of the city. Anne and Carter are both running/hiding in different ways, and both are failing in their business ventures. Fate draws them together with a piece of possible treasure. I love a good treasure hunt, especially with bits of the past thrown in the mix. Anne and Carter slowly unravel this historic mystery while forming a genuine relationship, and thank goodness for that because I'm tired of the instant love formulaic stories I've been reading. This story felt more compelling and realistic. These characters are flawed, complex, entertaining and relatable because of these qualities. Faith is present in the story but not in an overdone way. It's a well balanced tale of hardship, loss, love, trust and redemption. I found it thoughtfully written, researched and very appealing overall. Liz Johnson has written an insightful story that's not a typical romance or mystery. It's a mixture that flows smoothly across the pages. Now, when will we see a story about Bonaventure??

A GLITTER OF GOLD is book two in Ms. Johnson's A Georgia Coast Romance series, but it easily stands alone. As with the first book--A Sparkle of Silver--she writes in dual time periods. Both historical and contemporary.

The hero's storyline mirrors parts of the movie National Treasure, with him raised with a story of a massive treasure and his father discouraging his seeking it. The treasure will take over his life and consume him.

The heroine has a tainted path and just wants to hide, but her accidental discovery sucks her into the limelight even though she didn't want to go. What will happen Carter discovers her secrets?

I love Ms. Johnson's romance books and while this might not be my favorite story of hers, it is engaging and drew me in. I wanted to go along for the ride and forget life for awhile, but I had other responsibilities that forced me away. Ms. Johnson is one of my top five favorite romance authors. In fact, maybe two three. There is a mystery included in this tale, too.

Grab your copy of A GLITTER OF GOLD while it's still hot. You'll be glad you did.

First of all, this book was absolutely incredible.
Second of all, I'm nearly speechless. I cannot capture how good this book was in words.

I adored A Sparkle of Silver, the first in the Georgia Coast Romance series and was overjoyed to read and review A Glitter of Gold!!

The characters in this novel were absolutely beautiful. They had so much depth and each had a story to tell.

I adored Carter and Anne's love story.
They both had so much healing to do but they helped each other change and grow past their past with God leading them.

And I of course enjoyed the historical side of the story of Rebecca Jones and Samuel Thackery.
I'm learning I love split time novels more and more!

The book was extremely interesting; I loved the facts about pirates and shipwrecks and Savannah, Georgia's history!
I really loved and appreciated the author worked so hard to ensure complete accuracy for the readers!

A Glitter of Gold is a story of Faith, romance, heartache, redemption and healing. It is a must read!!

And bless your heart if you choose not to read it. ;)
