When Evelyn is kidnapped, Amorak races against the clock to find her....Will he be in time?

Wow...just wow! What and intense and fast-paced thrill ride. I was on the edge of my seat the whole time, flipping pages as fast a possible. Well done, Ms. Novak!!

I received a copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley. My thoughts and opinions are my own and without bias or remuneration.

Blind Spot by Brenda Novak is the new journey in the Dr. Talbot series. I was so excited for this read. The plot held a promising story. However, it did not come out as marvelous as the previous books. This one had many issues. One being that a pregnant woman working a top notch scary criminal prison should have been more guarded. But it appears not so. Second, the fact that Jasper is still unknown to Evelyn Talbot is frightening! Hello, no serial killer in real life would have that much patience. He would have stumbled and been found out sooner. Yet he somehow manages to stay hidden...so far. Third, with the handling of Evelyn Talbot thrown in any capacity, while pregnant, would have had some kind of impact on her pregnancy. But, even that magically has no issues.

The major problem for me, was that the plot was dragged out to much. The entire thing was with Evelyn kidnapped. It didn't make it interesting. She was held captive almost all the way to the end. The main protagonist, Dr. Evelyn, did not struggles quite as much as one would predict. It just felt flat and slow. And then, there's the cliffhanger on something I cannot say. The cliffhanger of that one thing is driving me crazy. I can't complain without giving away the plot aka the ending mostly. Readers can discover that on their own. All in all, after reading it, this was not something I would buy. It was good but not great.

I received this copy from the publisher. This is my voluntary review.

Blind Spot is the fourth book in The Evelyn Talbot Chronicles by Brenda Novak. As you know, the story follows Evelyn Talbot the founder and head psychiatrist of the Hanover House, but the story contains the point of views of other people as well. It's not a stand-alone novel and I will advise you to read the previous books first for a better understanding of the story.

If you have read my review for the previous book, you will know that I was hoping that the series would end soon, because I was getting tired of Evelyn's story. Well, this book ignited my interest once again and I am hoping for a fifth and final book. The end of this book could serve as the end of the series, but I want to see more of Evelyn's research and there many plots that aren't finished yet and some things must be told.

Faceoff ended with Evelyn's kidnapping if I recall correctly since this book begins with Evelyn as a captive. The narrative of the story kept changing from Evelyn's point of view to Amarok's to Emmet's and then to some other people whose names I won't reveal and it was interesting. It gave me a deeper understanding of what was driving each character to act the way they did and it made the pace faster. It was very interesting. Evelyn is trying to escape, Amarok is trying to find her and the other people who narrate also have a role in the story and for obvious reasons I won't say anything else.

The focus of the story is how Evelyn will survive from the kidnapper before it's too late as the blurb says, so there is no character growth. You can't grow as a character when they have you locked up and can't act rationally when the woman you love and your child are in grave danger.

This book is one of the strongest ones in the series and I would recommend it.

This is the 4th book in the series featuring psychiatrist Dr. Evelyn Talbot. Although not quite as suspenseful as the previous ones, it was fast-paced and dramatic as Amarok (Sergeant Benjamin Murphy) races against time to find the kidnapped Evelyn. Since Evelyn is a captive for almost the entire book, the nature and scope of her work at Hanover House was absent. No new demons were introduced, and it seems Evelyn's story has come full circle, so I can imagine that this might serve as the conclusion if that's meant to be.

I don't feel that there were any surprises in this novel as everything turned out as one might expect given the set-up and the story arc. I didn't find the plot and the narrative as compelling as in the previous books. Most of the action focused on Amarok and his attempts to find the pregnant Evelyn before the bad guy finished her off. I think most readers assumed that he would be successful, right? Since I had already invested myself in the saga having read 2 other books in this series, I already knew what Evelyn was like and nothing new was revealed. You could easily read this as a standalone as there is a huge amount of historical background given that provides all the details about Evelyn's past, the romance between Evelyn and Amarok, and Evelyn's previous encounters with the psychopaths mentioned in this installment. I hope we are done with most of the serial killers on whom the previous books have focused and, if this is to continue, that there is more about Evelyn's work. It's hard to keep up my interest rehashing the same old thing with Evelyn constantly being in peril because a sociopath has fixated on her. Surely every sick man in the world isn't obsessed with Evelyn? Anyway, I enjoyed this for what it was and probably will read more books by this author in the future.

Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for the e-book ARC to read and review.

The minute I received this book I read it like a starving woman. Since last year we the readers got a sneak peak of this novel from the previous novel and knew that Evelyn has been kidnapped and she's finally pregnant and about to be married to her Amorak aka Sergeant Benjamin Murphy. The novel is told by several POV which keeps the reader at the edge of the seat not knowing whose voice over we will read next. Evelyn begins to wonder while in a dark room who has taking her and has no idea since most of her enemies are locked up at Hanover especially Jasper(her teenage boyfriend who turned out to be a psychopath and who nearly killed her more than once over the last twenty years) As she starts to wonder who the novel flashes to Amorak who tries to put the puzzle together knowing Evelyn is on borrowed time especially if the person who abducts her is one of the serial killers. Ms. Novak does an awesome job by walking the readers through the various scenarios of the different players and how it all comes together in the end. Review on goodreads and amazon.

This is the fourth book in the series. I haven't read any of the others but don't feel like I've missed out. I would, however, now like to read the others as I enjoyed this very much

This is well written, loved the characters - darker than her usual work but thought this was great

A great summer read

Highly recommended

This is the fourth book in the Evelyn Talbot series. I liked this book. I will admit that I prefer the author's lighter books because it's the type of story that I like but I still enjoyed it. It's very well written and engaging, just darker than I normally like. Lots of action and suspense. If that's your thing, highly recommended! Good read.

Blind Spot is a fast-paced and very suspenseful addition to The Evelyn Talbot Chronicles. It picks up directly where the previous book left off, and the race against the clock starts. Evelyn is kidnapped and Amarok doesn't know where to start with his search. This book had me on the edge of my seat the whole time. The author did an incredible job in making the reader feel the urgency of the situation. The multiple POVs was great and told the story from different perspectives, including the villains, and it added an extra layer to the story. I always love to get a insight into the minds of these psychopaths. It was interesting that Jasper added important insights in regards to the kidnapping case. I was intrigued by why he was inserting himself in the situation, so I was glad that his POV was included in this book as well.

Evelyn has grown so much in this series, and you can really see the growth in this book. She has come a long way, and she is a very strong woman that will fight 'til the end. She doesn't give up and will do anything to save her unborn child and herself. There were a couple of incidents that could've moved the case along faster, but it felt like not everyone was working very well together. In my opinion it sometimes took them too long to figure things out, which annoyed me a bit. I also missed seeing Evelyn and Amarok together. I really love their dynamic so I felt disappointed when I didn't get the opportunity to see a lot of them together. Hopefully, we will get more of that in the next book. Blind Spot was overall a great addition to this series, and I am still very invested in the characters, including the bad guys. This book added some extra insight into the interaction between prisoners at the Hanover House.

Blind Spot by Brenda Novak is the story of a vicious madman who kidnaps a pregnant psychologist and her soon to be husbands search for her.. He is a policeman in Anchorage Alaska and she is the founder of a special hospital for psychopaths. one of which has just kidnapped her. Most of the book is about her struggle to service and her future husbands search for her. Several people are violently killed and several others beaten. I had trouble reading such a violent book but did enjoy the ending.

Blind Spot is a hair raising read. I couldn't read the chapters find enough to see what else was going to happen. Evelyn, six months pregnant, is snatched one afternoon and Amorak has no clue where to begin looking. As the hours turn into days, he frantically turns over every stone for clues. Ironically, it's Jasoer who provides a tangent clue about who may have taken Evelyn. It's a race against time as the crescendo approaches. Readers will definitely be on the edge of their seats to rapidly turn pages. I've read on social media that this is the last Evelyn Talbot for awhile. I think the characters deserve a respite after all they've endured.

I received an advanced copy from the publisher via Netgalley for an honest review.

I absolutely have loved every single book in this series (including the prequel novella) and this one did NOT disappoint! The only real negative thing I would say about this book is I was LITERALLY on pins and needles the entire time and it just made me anxious....and I could not put the book down! Otherwise, another amazing novel that does not disappoint.

Our saga of Evelyn Talbot begins around 7-8 months after the last novel ended and thank goodness, the psychopathic Jasper is in prison and at Hanover House and Evelyn and Amarok are progressing splendidly and gives me oodles of pleasure knowing that. Oh yes....and our strong, intelligent, amazing Evelyn is pregnant!!! It is wonderful and exciting so......of course a psychopath/sociopath kidnaps her! Oy..... Amarok is stressed not only for the love of his life, but his unborn child and will stop at nothing to get them back. I could not even give any further information about this book because I don't want to spoil the twists and turns and wonderful suspense of this amazing novel, just READ IT!

Are you ready for more psychopaths? Blind Spot is the fourth book in The Evelyn Talbot Chronicles and it takes us right back to Alaska where the doctor has been kidnapped. Dr. Evelyn Talbot is a psychiatrist who created Hanover House, a prison to house and study the world’s worst psychopaths. The prison was built in a remote town of Hilltop, Alaska with a one-man police force. In the last book, Evelyn finally was able to defeat her nemesis, Jasper.

Blind Spot is the continuing story of Evelyn, a doctor who studies serial killers and was once abducted by one, and her now husband Alaska State Trooper Amorak. They are planning their wedding and will be parents in 3 months when Eve is kidnapped again. Her harrowing experience trying to survive and escape is told in detail as is the horror and desperation Amorak feels. This is the fourth book in this series but can be read as a standalone. Recommended.

Jasper Moore, who had been tormenting Evelyn for years is finally where he belongs, behind bars. But just when Evelyn and Amorak are staring to feel safe, and looking forward to a normal life, Evelyn is kidnapped. Amorak has to find her before it’s too late.

This was part of a series but it could stand alone, although there are ties to a previous book in the series. The identity of the kidnapper will surprise you. Thank you to net galley for an advanced readers copy.
