My first from Melonie Johnson and I'm truly happy to have found her!
This second chance romance is all kinds of fun with laugh out loud moments featuring the very feisty Sadie, who is now working with the one who got away. Bo is beyond sexy and once he and Sadie find themselves together, it's white-hot heat once again. The surprise when they realize that their lives have crossed paths yet again sets up a well-written second chance at holding onto that passion they once knew.
I loved that both characters seemed to have grown since their ill-fated first love affair all those years ago, and that they can't help the undeniable chemistry that is still apparent today.
This book is sweet, flirty and full of desire. I really enjoyed both Sadie and Bo and look forward to more from this author in the future.
4 solid stars!
An amazing, captivating, interesting and oh-so-satisfying read!
The writing draws you in and keeps you interested until the end.
The chemistry between the H and h is amazing plus their attitudes and events going on make the story even richer.
I received a copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Growing up rich has its perks but also its downfalls. Sadie Gold wanted to do things on her own without any help. She’s just received a chance of a lifetime as a leading actress in an action film by a famous director and wants to prove to her family she did it on her own. She has been training for the physical stunts in this movie, however, no training could have prepared her when she met the stunt coordinator, Bo Ibarra. Her first love that broke her heart which she hasn’t recovered from.
Bo has regretted leaving Sadie ten years ago and breaking her heart. He knows that it was the right to do back then, they were too young to go forth. He knew that Sadie had been cast in this movie, now is his chance to prove to her that they could have a future together
How is Sadie going to be able to do the job she was hired to do with Bo always around her. Yes she still has feelings for him, but it’s not anything she can do about it. As Bo becomes closer to Sadie, she is worried the secrets she’s kept from him will reveal themselves, now that a tabloid is hinting about her past. Tough decisions need to be made and hopefully not a minute too late. Will they get past all the secrets and go forth?
Sadie Gold landed the starring role in a superhero movie and is determined to prove she got it with talent and not connections. The rumors of being a spoiled rich girl have haunted her, but she is sure that all of her training will help her take her career to new heights. The stunt coordinator is none other than Bo Ibarra, her first boyfriend, who had abruptly broken things off on their prom night. Even though it's been eleven years, feelings are still there between them and have rekindled.
Once Upon a Bad Boy is the third in the "Sometimes in Love" series, but you don't have to have read the first two books in the series to understand this one. It gives nice context for mentions of Cassie and Logan being married or Cassie's talk show, as well as Bonnie's engagement, but it isn't necessary. The entire book is focused on Sadie filming the movie, trying to visit her best friend Ana, and balance life with her grandmother, who she had essentially avoided because the Ibarra family had worked on her grandmother's property. We see glimpses of the past as the novel progresses because they can't move forward until they discuss the reasons why Bo had called off their relationship, as well as the emotional fallout for them both.
With the novel focused on movie stars and paparazzi, of course, there are additional conflicts in the form of maintaining a professional relationship while exploring an emotional and sexual one, as well as rumors about Sadie that spread online with dizzying speed. The romance between Sadie and Bo is a second chance one and doesn't shy away from the difficulties that surround them. Their relationship can't move forward without open communication and a respect for each others' choices, which is a realistic and healthy expectation to have. I liked that their problems weren't simply handwaved or erased because of their sexual chemistry, and they had to deal with each other as mature adults and not the eighteen-year-olds they used to be. Even with the inevitable happily ever after, it was fairly realistically done, which I appreciated.
Once Upon a Bad Boy is so good. If you love second chance romances then this is the one for you. If you are are familiar with the Sometimes in Love series then you have already met and got to know Sadie just a little bit. Now in Once Upon a Bad Boy we get to fully know her and the past that she has kept closed off. I love Sadie. She will make you laugh out loud and even tear up some. She is this strong female that you can't help but be drawn too. Bo is wonderful. He is sexy and has this way about him. I love watching Bo and Sadie reconnect. They will steal your heart throughout this one. Bo will make you swoon. Melonie Johnson does it again with this one. She pulls you and makes you feel like you are apart of the book. I love what she brings and I'm so looking forward to more to come.
I was intrigued about this book after reading the previous one and having a couple of trusted friends tell me they loved it.
I really liked Sadie and Bo. I loved their history and their easy conversation. I loved how they talked and talked and talked even more. Oh and their chemistry was off the charts. It was cute seeing the other couples from the previous books and I enjoyed these female relationships and the support they offered.
Plot wise, it was a fantastic second chance story: a slight bit of push and pull {not nearly as much as I was expecting}, facing families, and of course The Secret. The story moved at a decent pace and nothing seemed repetitive. My main complaint was that the very end felt quite rushed and I would have liked just a little more.
Overall, this was my favorite of the series. I’m eager to see if there’s going to be a story for Ana and if so, I’m here for it.
**Huge thanks to St. Martin’s Paperbacks for providing the arc free of charge**
A sweet second chance novel that I just adored! Add in a crazy cat and nosy nana, this is a book that you’ll love and want the perfect hea. Great job!!!
I’ve read the other two books in the series and this one had some moments that were a little slow for me. I liked all the stunt stuff and Bo and Sadie were good characters, I just thought there were some chapters that were a little too long. I found myself putting it down and started skimming some.
I received an ARC of this book to read through NetGalley in exchange for a fair review. Once Upon A Bad Boy by Melonie Johnson is the third book in her Sometimes in Love Series. You could read this one as a stand-alone but I really enjoyed the first two books and recommend reading them. This is a second chance at love story. Sadie Gold and Bo Ibarra were childhood sweethearts and then on the night of her prom he broke up with her and it left her devastated. Now approaching 30 with her acting career about to take off with her first big movie she meets Bo again on the set of the movie as he is the stunt co-ordinator and Sadie is going to have to deal with all the feelings she’s stored away in boxes. The story deals with love and forgiveness, owning up to past mistakes so that you can move on and I enjoyed it very much. Medium Steam Publishing Date June 25, 2019. This is the third book in the series - I truly enjoy a second chance story. Bo and Sadie were each other's first loves and fate brought them together again years later. Sadie stood strong when faced with her truth coming out and didn't allow herself to be blackmailed or made to feel guilty. She stood by her choice even with Bo. Good to see the characters from the previous stories, too. Looking forward to the next story.
I’ve read the books before this. I shouldn’t have been surprised. But this still caught me unawares and left me bawling like a baby in the end. This whole series has been an emotional roller-coaster; leading me through twists and turns I never quite saw coming. I adored Sadie! She’s so fierce and feisty. I loved watching the way she fought her way over, around, or through every obstacle in her path. Bo left me wanting to smack him more than once. I loved how devoted he is to his family and his career, but he kind of has the emotional quotient of a rutabaga. That made my heart hurt for Sadie for a lot of the book. It made me so very happy for these two when things were going right with their relationship and depressed the living hell out of me when they were on the outs. I am nowhere close to being ready to say “goodbye” to this group of characters, so I’m desperately hoping there’s still more books about them to come.
I received a complimentary advanced copy of this book through NetGalley.
Sadie has landed her dream role, one that can take her career to the next level. At the pre shooting meet, she came to know that the stunt coordinator in none other than Bo Ibarra. Bo was her first everything, he first love and her first heartbreak.
Bo knows he broke Sadie’s heart as a teenager, but now he feels that this might be their second chance to get things right. Will they be able to overcome their past and the present work situation to make things click in place ?
I enjoyed the way the relationship redeveloped between Sadie and Bo, it had a newness to it at the same time a feeling to have been together for long. I like to wading second chance romances and once upon a bad boy is no exception, I enjoyed it as well, though there were a few instances I had an issue with but I don’t want to give out any spoilers so am leaving it at that.
I have enjoyed reading the Sometimes in love series and look forward to more.
I truly enjoyed this book. It wasn't memorable by any means, but still very cute and adorable. First off, I'd like to say I think the title is misleading. Bo is not a bad boy and has never been a bad boy at all. Sure, he would be kinda reckless but that's pretty much it. I was expecting those bad boy vibes since I just love bad boys! It's sad I didn't get it :(
I do love second-chance romances and this one was just adorable! Back in prom night, Bo had broken up with Sadie just because. He never gave a real explanation. All these years, Sadie has never forgotten Bo. When she starts to shoot a new movie, Bo is the stunt coordinator and that means Sadie and Bo will be spending a lot of time together.
It was so sweet to see these two characters slowly come together. Bo is such a wonderful man and the way he treats his family, especially his nephew is so heart-warming! I was rooting hard for him and Sadie to finally get together and air out the elephant in the room. I do think some things could have been dealt with better than they were.
I haven't read the previous books in the series but I just loved the girls! This friendship of women is amazing! I love their support for one another. It's one of the things that I truly loved about this book.
Overall, there's not much to say about Once Upon a Bad Boy, exxcept that it is sweet and endearing!
This one was fun! Sadie and Bo were teenagers in love but things go south and now all these years later they're getting their 2nd chance. I'm hit and miss with 2nd chances and honestly felt the reason a bit weak (usually my problem) but I'm glad I kept reading. Plenty of laughs made it worth it.
I received a copy of ONCE UPON A BAD BOY on NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Thank you to the publisher and author.
Five stars and here’s why:
I said it before, and it is worth repeating: Melonie Johnson is the ROM-COM queen! Her characters are LOL funny, her settings the perfect backdrop for romance, and her plots believable. If you like swoon-worthy, bad guys who fall fast and hard for savvy girls, plus a sexy romance that’s a total page-turner, then this book is for you. Be prepared to read in one sitting! Highly recommend.
So second chance romances are not usually my go to read, this one however we done so well! This story was the story about Bo and Sadie. They met as children, dated as teenagers then broke up when they were 18. While both of them were hurting and never truly got over the love they had for the other they didn't let it hold them back in life. After a chance meeting 11 years later they both realize that the love they shared was still there and fought for what they wanted. This book had likable characters, a strong story line and of course a HEA. This was a really enjoyable book.
Okay, I managed to miss the first book in the series and I definitely need to go back and read it. I read the 2nd book first and now this one. And it's another good read from Melonie Johnson. It's actually kind of funny. I read a lot of books and I was about 1/4 in when I realized, hey, I know these characters and it was like coming home to friends. All of these characters are very relatable and when they're sitting in their booth at the Mexican restaurant for their weekly get together, you feel part of the gang and that is a rare accomplishment for a writer. So, Bo and Sadie grew up together and fell in love at a very young age, but they had very disparate lives. This disparity is what tore them apart, now ten years later they are thrown back together in a work situation. They have a number of issues to work through, some of which both parties aren't aware of. Sadie doesn't like to deal, she likes to cram problems in her mental boxes and seal the lid shut. You can't do that forever though, no matter how hard you try. That's all I'm saying. Read the book...
I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for letting me read this book.
So far, it's my favourite out of the three in the series. Not sure if it's due to the situations the characters are in, or because the side characters are involved a lot more and gave more support, or if the main characters are more likeable in general.
The chemistry they have is enjoyable to read, and the serious issues that are brought up during the story are handled quite well by the author. Some people may disagree with the way Sadie handled it, however as we see from both sides of the argument, in the end, ultimately it was her choice.
I also liked that the issue with her mother remained constant and there wasn't an instant fix for the sake of a happy moment; and was more realistic that way.
Ana's book will be the next one to look out for I hope.
An emotional love story with all the feels. It's a beautiful second chance romance that will make you cry, make you laugh and break your heart. This book was so hard to put down. It kept me from beginning to end. Melanie Johnson is a phenomenal writer and I can't wait to read her next book!

This is so good. The characters are well-thought out, intricate, and manage to both grow and still stay true to themselves. The story line is fantastic and had twists I did not see coming at first, which is great! I loved how the characters from the previous books were woven into this story in such a natural way, it never felt like "hey, remember these people!!" This is such a fun, enjoyable, relatable book - which is really saying something considering the careers of the two main characters!
