I loved this picture book. The illustrations were very cute and bright. The animals were fun. It was short and simple. A winner.
I received a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review. Thank you NetGalley.
My children are a little too old for this book, but we did read it over anyway. it is adorable. The illustrations are great. It's something I would defintiely purchase for the babies/toddlers in our lives.
This will appeal to young eyes and minds. I can see parents and other caregivers talking about the featured animals and identifying the objects and actions in each scene. I liked seeing both the uppercase and lowercase letters in bold . ABC titles are familiar, but the detailed images and bright colors should help this one find a place in preschools and at bedtimes. I am curious to view the physical book and its layout.
My three-year-old and I loved the rhythm of the writing and the charming pictures that accompany each letter.
These were the cutest illustrations ever! I'm extremely partial to the giraffe :)
This is an ABC book that actually used more uncommon animals for each letter, which I enjoyed (Urchin, anyone? Newt?)
It also has some humor to it to help keep a kid's attention (llama drinking lemonade, whale with waffles). I loved this book!
Thank you to Annick Press and NetGalley for the e-copy to read and review.
"Llamas with Lemonade" is a super cute started book for kids just beginning to learn the alphabet. It's a very brief book - no story. Instead, focusing on letter to word association.
This definitely is an unusual way to learn the alphabet and fun for child readers. They simultaneously learn different animals and an object paired with them of the same letter. This brings a real world association into the mix.
I love how each full page spread is a different color, creating an open atmosphere. There's a lot of negative space but I think it works in the author's favor. Kids will focus on learning and internalizing what they see instead of multiple actions going on.
I love the cover and title of the book; they're what first drew my attention to this books because llamas are awesome and lemonade is delicious.
My favorite match-ups were for the letters G, L, O, U, V, and W.
"Llamas with Lemonade" is a good book for a kid to have on their bookshelf!
*received from netgalley for honest review* adorable does even begin to describe this book! Very simple book with its own special twist with some amazing and adorable art!
A wonderfully unusual alphabet book filled with gorgeous illustrations! Unique animals with objects that also go along with the letter. This is a book I will purchase for my son to learn his alphabet!

Llamas With Lemonade: An Unusual Animal ABC has simple, yet adorable illustrations accompanied by simple text, which makes it a great book for young children. Each letter of the alphabet features an animal that begins with that letter along with one other object. For example "a llama with lemonade" or "a yak with yarn". This book is one that I would share with my own children because some of the animals featured are different than those usually found in alphabet books. The end of the book shows each letter, both capital and lowercase, along with smaller illustrations of each animal. While some of the animals included are more unusual, I would love to see even more unusual animals featured in this book. For example, "a" is usually accompanied by an alligator and "c" is often accompanied by a cat.

My initial reaction is, "Awwwww, so cute." This book was fun and precious. The children I shared it with loved the color, illustrations and funny connections between animals and items. It was easy and fun to share.
Walrus with Waffles! This alphabet book was very cute. Toddler had fun "reading-along". On a few pages I'd read the animal or the object and point for him to say the rest of it. He was most amused by Giraffes with Glasses and Walrus with Waffles. Fun gift idea! I also think the illustrations would be cute nursery prints.
The cover of the book with the llama drinking its lemonade pulled me right into wanting to read this book. The animal choices with their letter appropriate objects are too cute. Not all the animals are that unusual but a few will expand a young reader’s vocabulary. The illustrations are nicely done and I’m officially in love with the urchin.
My thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for a review copy.
I love any children's book that goes out of its way to capture the attention of the child and adult. Cute read showing alphabet upper and lower case letters. Introducing alliteration. Recommended read for the child in your life
Really cute alphabet book which features a different animal for each letter and the things they are doing that also start with that letter (ex: a squirrel with socks). Really cute illustrations , brightly coloured, and featuring animals that would be familiar to most children. I also really liked that both upper and lower case letters were included.
Llamas With Lemonade is an excellent update for the usual mundane alphabet and vocabulary book for toddlers. My one misgiving is the background colors do not match the illustrations; the contrast is too distracting. I prefer a lighter color that would compliment the illustrations. Overall the book is great, though, and I would definitely recommend this to friends and family.
This is a bright and colorful ABC book with sweet illustrations of animals that start with each letter, each holding something else that starts with this letter. I didn't find it unusual (despite the title) but it's a cute little book with fun illustrations.
My rating system:
1 = hated it
2 = it was okay
3 = liked it
4 = really liked it
5 = love it, plan to purchase, and/or would buy it again if it was lost
I read a temporary digital ARC of the book for the purpose of review.
This is a pretty cute alphabet book that features a different animal on each page accompanied by an item beginning with the same letter. I was intrigued by the title because it led me to believe the book may include animals that are especially rare or not widely known but for the most part I didn't find the animals in the book to be particularly unusual (the book uses B for bear, C is for cat... What about B is for barnacle or C is for cockatoo?) Overall I feel like it joins the mass of existing animal alphabet books and doesn't really stand out in any way so I don't see myself purchasing it, even though it is bright and colorful and the pictures are very charming.
This was a very cute little picture book. I enjoyed reading this to my daughter and the illustrations were very adorable. I have read a lot of ABC books and I* enjoyed that this used some unusual examples.
I love ABC books and try to pick up different ones to read with the grandchildren. I love the ones that are a bit different, especially if they add vocabulary to their language and have a different theme. This one is animal themed, but with animals the kids were not always familiar with and they thought it was pretty funny when they saw some of the things the animals were doing (i.e A hedgehog with a hat, a jaguar with a jump rope, a vampire bat with a violin. an x-ray fish with a xylophone). Both kids were interested in this book, even the 5 year old who knows all his letters and sounds. He made the sounds and asked his sister questions which I loved. A great book for them to share together, grandma read the words through once, then they looked at the book together a few times naming the animals and what they were doing. I definitely recommend this one to families, libraries and kindergarten classrooms.
I received this arc from NetGalley for an honest review. Great alphabet book that kids will get a kick out of like a jaguar with a jump rope and a koala with a kite.
