So I was just looking for Christmas books on Netgalley and came across this title, this book was NOTHING like I anticipated in the best ways possible. I think that this book dealt with a lot, child abuse, abandonment, illness, so many things but but at its heart was the fact that angels walk amongst us, and only the most innocent may ever be able to identify them.

I don't want to give away too much, but I will say that I really enjoyed this story, and especially in the year that has been 2020, it was a sweet read about what happens when we let our guards down and see the beauty that is all around us. Inspite of what we might be going through when we reach out and help others we might find the answers that we have been looking for

After a life-changing breakup, the relationship between the leads Rachel and Jake left much to be desire. I just couldn't resonate with the storyline nor characters, and I just ended up skimming some chapters to hopefully be drawn in by something, <i>anything</i> but I that was a no-no. Moreso, I could definitely see what most readers would find appealing about this series but it wasn't for me. The constant back and forth and misunderstandings between the characters that could easily be resolved if they just st down and talk about the sudden change of not wanting to start a family, etc. was annoying. Honestly the story just seem to drag out longer than necessary.

Rachel Kelly is still reeling from her breakup with Lt. Jake Dillon but continues her work as a child psychologist. She agrees to take on three new clients including two middle-school aged kids dealing with abuse in their homes. As Christmas approaches, she asks each child to say a prayer for Christmas. Little does Rachel know, there are angels in her life who’ve come to help her and her clients. When a stalker crashes Rachel’s Christmas party, she calls the only man she’s ever loved, Lt. Jake Dillon. Will he rescue them in time or will it be too late?



No Angels for Christmas is a Christmas story about second chances and helping those most vulnerable: children. At the crux of this story is a preteen girl who’s being harassed by her mother’s boyfriend. He touches her and wants to do more. Also at the heart of this story is a preteen boy whose father beats him and his mother. The on again off again romance between Rachel and Jake take a backseat but still contribute to the dramatic tension.



Three dramatic storylines were, in my humble opinion, too much. Two would’ve been just fine and actually one would’ve been ideal. I know there are readers out there who thrive on the multiple angst but I’m not one of those. I found the angst too much for me to deal with and I had to take breaks from reading it.



I was also unprepared for the heavy Christian message interwoven throughout the plot. Bible verses and praying are prevalent. I didn’t mind, though, because what you’re dealing with in this story relies on faith and the appearance of angels answering prayers. It just caught me by surprise because this hasn’t appeared in any of Petie McCarty’s books I’ve read before.



If you’re looking for a dramatic story with an uplifting message, pick up No Angels for Christmas today. You’ll be crying tears of joy when you reach the ending.

The story was good it kept me going. Enjoyed the romance. Thecharacter development was good. A good read.

This book was unexpected - I anticipated a sweet romance, but what I found was a story with much more depth and that delved into some tough issues. I expected those issues to focus on muscular dystrophy, but they also focused on child abuse and broken families.

While I enjoyed this novel, I found that Eugene's character's internal dialogue went on for too long and started to distract from the story. I thought the other characters were interesting and found myself invested in their story.

Because this novel was about angels, I expected there to be some type of Christian message, however, I was surprised by the depth of that message and the biblical verses incorporated into the story.

If you enjoy a Christian romance/suspense, you will want to read this one. I am a fan of the authors' work and she is well worth adding to your must read authors' list
